Spicy albacore hand roll, spicy edamame
    Linda S.

Wow! What an amazing small mom and pop sushi restaurant! After a recommendation from a friend, I had to try it out! While the reviews all boast about the bento box, I wanted to try their sushi! We ordered their rising yellowtail roll, lemon salmon roll and spicy edamame! They were all so fresh and delicious! The service was excellent as well with the servers coming by frequently. Will be back again to try out more items from their menu!

I was in the area and wanted to eat lunch before heading to work. I went in and was able to be seated right away as it wasn't busy. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, two pieces of uni sushi and a fireball salmon roll. Everything I ate was delicious and I will definitely come back again to eat sushi here.

What a totally underrated spot! So unassuming and away from the hub that is Old Town, Kyushu is tucked on the corner on Colorado. There's free parking in the rear, but looks like street parking isn't much of a problem. Upon walking in, it didn't seem like your average sushi bar. It really felt like an old school Japanese spot - so charming but chill. Service was fantastic! Our server (whose name escapes me) gave us his two cents and he did not steer us wrong! Got the Uni Chawanmushi, Pink Lady, the Lemon Salmon Roll and the Rising Yellow Roll. We also got a handroll each as well as an order of the red snapper sushi. Everything was phenomenal! Prices were super reasonable and I cannot wait to come back here!

We fiinally tried Kyushu Sushi and I was honestly surprised in the best way. The portions here are BIG. Not like the usual tiny little bites some sushi places give you--this place actually fills you up. The Blue Crab hand roll was legit delicious. Fresh, creamy, and overflowing with crab, not just rice filler. The tempura was also really good--not oily, perfectly crispy, and still light enough where you don't feel weighed down after eating it. Another plus... there's actually parking on the side which is a lifesaver ..but make sure your turn left right away cause its a one way street. No circling around forever looking for street parking. Overall, Kyushu Sushi was definitely worth it. The portions were surprisingly generous, the flavors were solid, and the quality was there in every dish. On top of that, the service was on point--everyone was super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The ambiance inside was also really nice... casual but still clean, comfortable, and welcoming. We will absolutely come back again if we are in the area.

Tonkatsu with California roll Bento lunch

My co worker and I were in the area and was craving sushi. We were driving along Colorado when we saw this place. I pulled over to check on yelp and found the place has decent reviews so we turned around and came back to try this place. We got here right when they just opened. The staff seated us right away and took our orders. We got: Gyoza and deep fried squid tentacles for appetizers which were so good. We both got their lunch Bento which I would say the serving was huge. I got the tonkatsu with California roll. I am a big fan of katsu so whether it is tonkatsu (pork) or chicken katsu I will gladly order that. Everything was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. No wonder why they have a high rating and good reviews. I highly recommend this place. The staff was very nice and the lady was always smiling. Prices were very reasonable. My co worker and I were surprised how cheap they were compared to other places. We will definitely be back if we are in the area.

Teriyaki Salmon tempura and sashimi bento

This is the kind of place that surprises you. Expect a strip mall "Japanese" restaurant - no-frills lunch, not necessarily "authentic Japanese" -- once you level set that expectation, Kyushu Sushi absolutely delivers. I grabbed the bento lunch and was blown away. Every single compartment was packed to the brim. As if the chef kept asking, "What else can I squeeze in here?" As for the sashimi, it was thick-cut. However I will point out, the rice is not Japanese short grain and the tempura is Chinese style. I don't think it's possible one person can finish this bento. At $18.95, it's hands down the best deal in town when you're craving a Japanese fix. I can't wait to come back for their chirashi!

    Lunch Special - #13 Tonkatsu + Tempura + Sashimi
    Jin C.

Great little Japanese spot. Service is friendly and the quality of the food is fantastic. Came here for lunch, lunch special from 11am-3pm. Bento Box: Lunch Special #13 Tonkatsu + Tempura + Sashimi 9/10 - The tonkatsu was crunchy and tender, goes really well with the Katsu Sauce. Sashimi was fresh and melts in your mouth. Tempura was lightly battered and crunchy. Sushi: Spider Roll 10/10 - Huge fan of soft shell crab. The crab was perfectly battered, and had a nice crunch. Spicy Tuna 8/10 - The tuna was fresh. Overall, the roll was solid. Salmon Avocado 9/10 - The salmon was fresh and melts in your mouth. The avocado was creamy and really helped balance the salmon. Side note - The rice for all three rolls was perfectly cooked, soft and really kept everything together. All this great quality food (3 rolls X2 and a Bento Box) came out to $55 w/ tax. Extremely affordable lunch special. If you're in the area, check this place out!

The food quality and food portion here is awesome. We ordered hamachi kama, takoyaki, dragon roll and sake and beer. The fish taste fresh, the takoyaki is nicely decorated with bonito flakes and seaweed, and the hamachi kama is full sized. Big thumbs up. The service is decently fast and the owners are very friendly. They also have plenty of parking in the back. Highly recommend!

The service and food at Kyushu are above and beyond any other restaurant. My wife and I go here every trip up to pasadena Our server was so attentive and made us feel like we were VIPs. The sushi is some of the best we have ever had and we highly recommend the Double Tempura Salmon roll. Do yourself a favor and go here to be treated amazing and eat amazing.

Chirashi don on lunch special menu. (With soup and salad) $24+.

Food is really delicious and plenty. Worthy of the price. Waiting time for the grilled fish is a little bit longer. It's general I am very satisfied.

Ordered take out of sashimi and sushi bentos, California roll and Spicy Tuna Hand Roll. All were fresh and beautifully arranged... even for take out. Will definitely be ordering from them or eating on-site in the future.

Small shop that we stumbled upon with a great deal lunch combo, 2 rolls and a miso soup for under $15. We ended up getting the salmon avocado roll and unagi avocado roll!

Tonkatsu Bento Box was delicious - 9/10

Ordered Doordash and it was delivered so fast and fresh! The menu had so much variety and different kinds of rolls, sashimi, bento boxes, noodles, etc. Pricing was very reasonable ($15-20). The Tonkatsu Bento Box (lunch special - $23.50 on Doordash & $18.50 at the restaurant) was HUGE! It had lots of pork cutlet and it was fried perfectly without being too greasy or salty. The tempura was so delicious and so crispy! The rice didn't taste like the usual Japanese sushi rice and seemed like a lower quality rice. The sashimi was so fresh and yummy! The salad was decent, nothing too special. The miso soup was pretty good and wasn't too salty. This set was 9/10 for me Would definitely return and recommend

I asked for half yellowtail/half salmon. Slices were huge.

I understand they are busy, but there is no reason to swing the door at my face when I simply asked where I can put my name down on the waiting list. No answer, just rolled eyes and door in face. We really should've left because from that moment, it definitely felt like it was a mission for the two servers to make it a miserable experience for my family. I later found a small post holding up a chromebook outside of the restaurant with a paper with very small print explaining waitlist rules. It would be a lot better if the restaurant made a larger print sign that just says, "Sign In Here," and then have your small print letter to the customers about the rules. We put our name down at 12:30pm, it gave an estimated seat time of ~1pm. But because of the terrible service and mismanagement of the waiting list, we didn't get seated until 1:30pm. They seated 4 parties of 2-3 before our party of 4 when the open tables were side by side. On top of that, after we got seated, they still gave water and took the other tables orders that were seated after us before they came to us. Food took another 20 minutes to come out. I asked for the bill three times, but it didn't come until the other tables that were seated after us left and it was just empty tables next to us. In terms of the food, it was fine and the tempura was cooked well but I do not need to eat their tempura to be treated this poorly.

Perfect family dim sum experience for us…read more We took out my parents and in-laws for dim sum: my parents' very first time ever. We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. Once we were seated, my parents were immediately impressed with the decor: elegant and cultural without feeling overly modern or cold. And can we talk about the tea kettles? They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try

The manager took the dish and immediately dumped it in the trash right behind me, where I could hear it. It felt unnecessary and honestly a bit disrespectful. This place just earned a permanent spot on my list. I ordered the vegetarian pho and it blew me away -- easily one of the best bowls I've had. The broth was rich, deeply layered, and clearly made with intention. What really set it apart were the vegetables. We're talking lotus root, chayote squash, and a rotating cast of unique, seasonal additions that you just don't see at your average spot. It wasn't just filling -- it was thoughtful. But here's where Nha Trang really separated itself: the way they treated my child. From the moment we sat down, the staff brought out a perfectly sized little plate, bowl, and fork just for him -- without us even asking. They even brought out a small pair of scissors to cut his noodles to the perfect size. That one gesture alone told me everything I needed to know about this place. And when he finished eating? They brought him coloring pencils to keep him occupied. It was the kind of quiet, attentive hospitality that makes parents feel seen. The space itself is beautiful -- warm, welcoming, and clean. The kind of place where you actually want to linger over your meal instead of rushing out. Five stars, no hesitation. Whether you're coming solo, on a date, or with a toddler in tow -- Nha Trang delivers. We'll be back soon. Probably very soon.
