We are always looking for new sushi places to try. This one is inside a plaza that has lots of Tesla charging stations. So parking was not easy (unless you drive a Tesla). There is some street parking available. The inside was bright and looks newly remodeled. Service was good. Sushi was delicious. The combination hot food was just okay. Will come back to try other dishes.

So far so good! This is our first time here at Haruka Sake and Sushi and it wasn't too crowded on a Thursday evening. I ordered the omakase A which came with 8 different assortments of sushi and a spicy tuna roll. They look super delicious and taste just as good! The fish is just fresh and I'll definitely say the prices aren't too bad for a sushi restaurant. The decor of the restaurant is modern and minimalistic which gives a nice upscale vibe. The servers were very attentive and even cleared plates very quickly that were in our way. My husband works down the street and I am so glad we took a leap of faith and tried a new sushi spot!

First appearances interior is upscale and modern. Our server was extremely attentive and took her time to explain the menu. Dishes were brought out promptly and everything came out fresh and delicious. Entire staff were nothing but positive vibes. HIGHLY recommend! PS. try the yellowtail

I visited Haruka with a small group of friends for the holidays, and we ordered a variety of appetizers, sushi, and chirashi. Overall, all of the fish were fresh and tasty ,and our server was very present in refilling waters and checking in on us. After sipping on some Sapporo, we started with deep fried Shishito peppers. The kick surprised me, since I wasn't used to them being so spicy (!) Then we moved onto the Agedashi Tofu; nothing like a nice crisp fry and a soft interior to start the meal. After that, we had a variety of sushi and enjoyed a chirashi and sweet shrimp - yum! Some of these were so good that we even ordered two! Finding a favorite was indeed hard. Even the ones included eel (my least favorite) were enjoyable!

This was our first time dining here, and my husband and I had such a wonderful experience. We started with the garlic edamame and beef gyozas, which were both delicious and a great way to begin our meal. For sushi, we ordered the 2-piece yellowtail, a salmon hand roll, and the weekly special sushi. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. To finish off Lunch, we decided to try the green tea and mango mochi ice cream, and it was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. The service was excellent, and we really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. Overall, we loved our experience and can't wait to come back again!

Came back to Haruka Sushi for dinner with my boyfriend and his mom and had another great experience. We sat at the bar and chatted with sushi chef Nathan, who was super friendly and kind. We ordered the scallop nigiri and sweet shrimp nigiri again since they were my favorites last time and they did not disappoint. My boyfriend's mom got the eel bowl with avocado and tamago, which is perfect if you like cooked fish with a little sweetness. We also shared a few rolls including the rainbow roll and the yellowtail lover roll. Both were really good and I liked the asparagus in the yellowtail roll, such a nice touch. My favorite dish of the night was the Burukurabu Salmon Wrap. The blue crab was amazing and the ponzu with truffle oil paired so well. Chef also made us some mackerel to try and it was buttery, flavorful, and not fishy at all. Another great sushi night here and I will definitely be back soon for my weekly sushi fix. :)

Good service with friendly staff. The menu is comprehensive with a great variety and something for everyone. Everything is reasonably priced and we even received some complimentary pieces!

Happy that it's new ownership!!! It's very nice inside and modern. The sushi and rolls are VERY DELICIOUS and fresh!!! I ordered my Cali rolls with brown rice and it was so good and moist and not hard at all. The miso soup was also very good and hot and fresh and not salty. The food for me was 5/5. The service was great as well. Our server BRI was very amicable and friendly and did not mess up her order. She was very welcoming. Overall, I will come back here and I highly recommend this place for good Rolls and Sushi. They have really good reasonable prices and the food is bomb. I had no regrets. They have parking in lot too! -Marshay D.

A hidden gem in Pasadena -- perfect stop while your Tesla charges! Haruka is right next to the superchargers, and it's become our go-to spot whenever we're in the area. The restaurant was beautifully remodeled in February, and the space feels both delightful and tasteful. We've had lunch here three times recently, and each visit has been consistently excellent. The lunch bento boxes are a standout -- fresh, generous, and beautifully prepared. The salad is crisp with a light, refreshing dressing, and the California rolls and teriyaki are outstanding. On top of the great food, the service is warm and attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. Definitely worth a stop whether you're charging or not -- Pasadena has a lot of options, but Haruka is one we'll keep coming back to.

Been coming to this location with my wife even when they were still Yes Sushi. So happy that the only difference is the decor has changed. The staff here are always so amazing and they really make us feel so welcome. Special shout out to Sunny. She almost always serves us when we go and she is one of the reasons we always come back. The food is always great and fresh. We love that this is an our go to sushi place and definitely recommend!

Stopped by this cozy Japanese spot and wow -- the chirashi bowl was amazing and very pretty. Every slice of fish was fresh, and perfectly chilled over fluffy, slightly vinegared rice. It was like getting a hug from the ocean. Paired it with a glass of chilled sake that hit all the right notes -- clean, smooth, and just the right amount of warmth going down. The vibe was calm and intimate, perfect for a solo sushi moment or a quiet dinner. Service was kind and attentive without hovering. I left full, happy, and already thinking about my next visit. Highly recommend if you're craving quality Japanese fare without the fuss.

We've been coming to this lot to charge our car and had been eagerly waiting for Haruka Sake Sushi to open. We finally stopped by on a weeknight, and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. To top it off, the manager/owner personally came by to introduce himself, which was a nice touch. My husband is a bit particular about his sushi and requested a customized cucumber-wrapped roll with a different type of fish. The owner didn't hesitate, he immediately asked the chef to make it just the way we wanted. That level of service really stood out to us. We also ordered the chirashi bowl, scallop sushi, and a tofu salad. Everything tasted fresh, and we felt the prices were very reasonable given the quality. We'll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu.

Chirashi

I had a large takeout order from this restaurant, and I was left really disappointed. I cannot say anything about the service or ambiance since it was a to-go order, but I can say that I found the food lacking. I ordered a chirashi bowl along with some other pieces of nigiri. I also tried some of the rolls other people in my group ordered. The slices of sashimi in the chirashi were ridiculously small, especially the shrimp. I can overlook that in some cases, but I also found the quality to be subpar. The sushi tasted like fish from a cheap all you can eat place. However, this place is charging high end sushi prices. The rolls and nigiri were also small and low quality. The only positive is that the presentation was beautiful, but it felt like a distraction from the below average fish. The food might be better if you dine there, but I would never recommend ordering food to-go.

He was so charismatic, friendly, and genuinely made the whole experience so much better despite the wait. Honestly, if he ever decides to stop working here, he would make a great bombshell on Love Island The food was absolutely delicious, the ambiance was great, and everyone we interacted with was so sweet and attentive. Even though the wait was longer than expected, the amazing customer service more than made up for it. We really appreciated how much the staff cared about making things right, and we'll definitely be back!

Shabu is fresh, delicious and authentic. The Kurobuta Pork Loin is very lean and tasty. The Black Angus Ribeye also very nice. Their ponzu has something else added but really nice. Not sure if it had a dash of sake but love their ponzu sauce. Lunch time at counter for shabu fills up quickly so be ready to wait in line if all shabu stations are occupied. Still worth the wait. I haven't dined in yet, though on my list to do just because the positives vibes this amazing restaurant has. As for food, 10 of 10 recommend. Orders are always correct. We're ordering different things all the time and I've yet to dislike a single thing. The sushi is soooooooo yummy. For door dash, they sort the food by the group order. My daughter's name is Lotus and they always draw a flower on the top. It's little details like this that tell me the people preparing this food care about it and the customers they serve. I had planned to be phone-free for the hour, but curiosity bested me and I whipped out my phone for a scan. The bulgogi with rice and miso called to me, strangely, considering the heat outside. The atmosphere at this slow hour was so nice I almost wished it was raining. A few Clairo and The Marías songs later (at the perfect volume--audible, but still low enough to have a quiet chat) my miso soup arrived. Now, it's been a good few years since I've had miso soup, and I've never really been crazy about it, but this... this was some damn good soup. Liquid umami. Then the bulgogi and rice came. This is the best bulgogi I've ever had. So tender. Quite literally melted in my mouth. Punches of savory juice, tender fatty bits, golden brown perfectly caramelized onions, and a sweetness to bring it all together. Every bite was perfect. It washed over me and my shoulders and spine practically uncoiled themselves. I want to try more from the menu but... I'm... I'm going to need this again. Like tomorrow. I should say, especially for the price, this is a lot o' grub. A perfect filling portion, especially with the rice and soup. I had a smoothie a couple hours earlier so I really should've asked for a to-go box 80% of the way through... but I was just having too much fun stuffing my face to stop. To recap--lovely service, great music, and food to live for. And a restroom. It's not public, but they do have a restroom. Thank god for that restroom. I was hungry, yes, but more than anything I really needed that restroom.

We ordered multiple nigiris, rolls, and appetizers for our table. The servers and staff seemed to not communicate with each other, leading to slow and sloppy service. The nigiris came out much later than the rolls and the bowls, to the point where half of our party was done eating before the first nigiri plate came out. In fact, the service was so slow that the servers started to clear our plates while we were waiting for them to bring out our food The servers were awkwardly clashing plates at our table and being difficult about refilling the water and tea. After dropping $800+ as a table, we were waiting on one last nigiri (Yellowtail Belly) to come out. We asked our waiter to check on it for us, and he came back to us saying it should have been on the plate that had the other Yellowtail Nigiri on it. The reason why we brought this up in the first place is because the two didn't come out together. He then brings another waitress who tells us it should have come out already, and then another who tells us completely different information (i.e. it came out with different fish). Overall an unpleasant experience. Would not be back again nor would I recommend this place to anyone, especially since they made such a big deal out of $10 nigiri on a $800 bill.

HAKATA SET (Your choice of: Tonkotsu or Miso Ramen, comes with Mini Spicy Tuna Don, Chicken Karaage 2 pcs, Tsukemono) This was one of the set items for the lunch special. Chose the miso ramen. The miso ramen had a very strong white miso flavor. Didn't hate it, as I do love miso, but it was a little too much miso for my liking. Typical curly ramen and it was cooked well. Loved the jammy egg too. It was a soy marinated egg. There were also three pieces of chashu too! It was good, but slightly overcooked. The portion of the ramen was medium sized and was surprised they didn't bring a smaller size since it was a set meal. But happy they were generous! Spicy tuna don was a small bowl, but they gave a good portion of spicy tuna, which was delicious. Chicken karaage were two pieces of chicken and it was just okay. No tsukemono was served with the meal. Overall the meal was satisfying. I think the price was fair for what was given. CUSTOMER SERVICE Good, friendly and attentive customer service. No complaints! AMBIANCE / TABLES + SEATS Very calm and relaxing ambiance. It was quiet and no music was playing, which I liked. The restaurant was super clean and I liked how the tables were set. Large tables in the back and small tables were closer to the front. Bar seats on the side. It was a medium-sized restaurant, but the layout made it feel larger. Clean bathroom too. PARKING The closest and most logical parking spot was the one right across from the restaurant. School House Garage on 33 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105. Rates: $1.00 first 2 hrs, $2.00 for each additional hour. $12 for the full day.
