Disappointing First Experience I saw the promotion on Ubers Eats for "Buy 1 iced tea, get 1 free," so I decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately, the merchant did not honor the promotion, which was disappointing. I'm a Pad See Ew junkie, so I was really looking forward to trying it. This was also my first time trying food from Moon 48. Unfortunately, I ordered the Pad See Ew to go, and the taste was extremely disappointing. The noodles had a strong plastic taste, almost as if the food had absorbed the flavor of the black plastic takeout container. That was essentially all I could taste. I really wanted to like this place, but between the promotion not being honored and the food tasting like plastic, this was not a good first experience. Update: About 20 minutes after eating 1/4 of the Pad See Ew, I developed diarrhea. This happened shortly after eating the meal and it made an already disappointing experience even worse. read more

Had lunch here with my family. Nice beats playing in the background. I liked the decor and the food was good. We ordered their duck curry, was so bomb and they gave a lot of duck meat. Drunken noodles my sister was able to inhale all the noodles, so I'm guessing it was good. lol My godmother ordered the Thai bbq pork, she said it was juicy, tender, and very flavorful. Pretty good, but a little pricey. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and my friends and I got a chicken pad thai and a jade curry with a side of white rice. The flavors of the pad thai were pretty good but I felt like the noodles were a little soggy but I still very much enjoyed the pad thai. The jade curry was a little more sweet than I expected but it was still pretty good. I never really had basil-y tasting curry so this was new! If you're ever in Old Town Pasadena and craving Thai food, I highly recommend checking out Moom 48 Thai Restaurant on Green St and Fair Oaks Ave. We went on a night when it was quiet, and I honestly loved that. The setting felt quaint and peaceful, with calm music playing softly in the background. It wasn't loud or overwhelming -- just a really relaxed vibe. The decor was beautiful too. There were Thai figurines and detailed wall art throughout the restaurant that gave it an authentic, cultural feel without being over the top. One thing I really appreciated was the menu. It was simple -- just one page, front and back. I actually prefer that. When a restaurant has too many options, it's way harder to decide. This felt curated and intentional. Of course, I had to start with a Thai Iced Tea. I get one every time I go to a Thai restaurant -- it's mandatory for me at this point. It wasn't overly sweet, which I liked, and it was really smooth and refreshing. We ordered a 6-count of spring rolls to go because I love spring rolls and can never pass them up. They were crispy, fresh, and exactly what you'd want. For the main dishes, I got the Hat Yai Chicken. It was basically Asian-inspired fried chicken, but elevated. It was absolutely delicious -- crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. It came with a sweet and sour sauce that had a little kick to it, which made it even better. My girlfriend ordered the Duck Curry, and we shared it. The curry had generous chunks of duck and was paired with red and green bell peppers plus pineapple for a little added sweetness. The sauce itself was sweet, spicy, and creamy all at once -- a perfect balance of flavor. They brought out a huge bowl of rice to pour the curry over, which made it even better. We were also served water with lemon, which was simple but refreshing and thoughtful. The staff was super friendly. The hostess was especially kind -- she even helped my girlfriend open the to-go bag when she was having trouble with it. Small gesture, but it showed great service. For everything we ordered, it came out to about $120 (we added tip, of course). Honestly, for the quality, portions, and experience, I thought it was fair. Overall: 9/10. The service is good, the person helping us was very attentive. The food I did not like, we ordered a few plates and some of them had a weird flavor. I ordered the spicy rice and asked if they could make it spicy and she said they would but it had no spiciness at all. We also got an eggplant dish but that was too sweet. Great location for lunch in the Pasadena area! It's super convenient for me and my co workers and we usually come here when we are hankering for a sit down meal of Thai food. Plus, if you come during lunch during thier happy hour, you get a free egg roll and drink with your entree purchase! Thier Thai tea and green Thai tea are both very sweet, so you might want to ask for less sweetener, but I like it, so no changes for me there! I have been coming here a few years, hands down my favorite curry of thiers is the ruby curry, thier portion decent that I sometimes can't finish it. I like more sweet curries, and this one hits all the right spots! There's plenty of vegetables and bell peppers with the cheaper options of chicken, veggie, tofu and then also beef and shrimp for an uncharge. Service is friendly and pretty quick, as there usually not too much of a wait for everyone in our party to get thier meals! For about 20$usd (including tax and tip and time of this review) I think is a reasonable price for a sit down meal in Pasadena! Will continue to come here as long as I still find myself in the area wanting Thai food during lunch. Stopped here on a whim after the Rose Bowl game. We were walking from the stadium and were so hungry. Being celiac I can pretty much count on Thai food being gluten free. We were lucky and were able to be seated quickly. I could tell the server was very informed about the gluten free options. She was very knowledgeable. I ordered the PANANG curry-nutty curry, pea carrot, bell pepper, basil, green bean with chicken and white rice cost is $17.85 It was super nutty sweet and smooth. Glad we did. Quenched my thirst with some Thai iced tea which is staple when at a Thai restaurant. Yellow curry was a bit spicy and I wasn't asked about the level of spicy preferred. Honestly didn't think about the spice level until I started to eat it. The flavor was there though with chicken potato and carrot. Enough for 2 meals for me. I had it with brown rice which had rice more grain in it? It was fine. Pad see yu is a favorite and it was yummy with chicken and veg. Leftovers were great the next day. Restaurant is clean. Food: Flavor is okay but a little too sweet for our palettes. Pad See U - Probably the biggest sweet culprit here. However, we added in some extra regular soy sauce and that helped level it out. This dish, from my knowledge, is generally made with a sweet soy sauce but I've never had it as sweet as the one here. Prik King - We got it spicy! For the average person, it might be spicy but there wasn't any kick for me. Again, flavor is on the sweeter side but not as bad as the pad see u. It has a nice spice taste to it without the kick. My mom and sister thought it was spicy though, so everyone will be different. Chow Mein - Usually not a sweet dish at all but again, Moom 48 gave it some sweetness but thankfully not as much as the previous two dishes. Based off of my sister's opinion since I'm vegetarian: Moo Ping - Sweet. We are starting to sound like a broken record but this is just the profile we got from a majority of our dishes. The saving grace of the moo ping was the tangy and spicy sauce it came with. My sister said it helped a lot and brought a brightness that was much needed to the dish. Wings - Flavor was good and it was my sister's favorite. Really nice and crunchy. Service: Friendly and hospitable. We didn't interact with them too much but they seemed nice. Ambiance: Clean and nice. Modern feel with brick and wood paneled walls and black chairs/booths. I'm not going to give up on this place just yet, would come back to give this place another try. Another spot that we finally gave it a try. Of course like many of the places I've walked by, this was another one of them. Location is good, right in the heart of old town. Plenty of parking as it's right next to one of the parking structures. As well as street parking along the area. It's not a super big restaurant so it can get pretty busy. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and, which all the tables were pretty much occupied. A couple along the walls were emptied as they were reserved. Didn't take that long for a table but after seated, a line was forming. Menu wise, there's all your traditional dishes you would expect for a Thai restaurant. But prices are a bit higher than some places. Guess depending on your location. We had the shrimp coconut soup, it was good. Chicken pad see ew and the chicken panang. Food was good, flavor is nice. Service was great as everyone was pretty friendly and attentive. If you check in on Yelp, there's either goyza, fried banana or a drink offered. Overall, food was good.
