    Sheng Jian bao
    Leonard K.

After picking a random place to eat, this is what came up. It's a block away from a new restaurant that has a huge line, which I want to try next time. But we just picked a bunch of random things to eat here. First, we got the wonton soup. The dish was really clean. The broth was clean and the wontons were surprisingly good. Next, the sticky rice wontons came out. I thought they would have more of a pork taste to them, since we were told that was an ingredient, but it just basically tasted like sticky rice in a wonton. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. After that, they brought out to xiao long bao. These had a lot of soup in them that almost made the spoon overflow. I thoroughly enjoyed these a lot. Next were the Sheng Jian Bao, which had even more soup in them. They were absolutely amazing. This was the first dish that came with a dedicated sauce container, which kind of sucked though. I feel we should've had containers we could put our sauces in at the table, as there weren't any there for us to use. We had to put our sauces prior to this on our serving plate, which wasn't the best experience. After this came the beef roll covered in egg. This has a lot of flavor, but I think we ordered too much food at this point and could've done without it. The mochi red bean dessert was good but it has a texture that I've never experienced before with mochi. It was really slimy and unique, but my friend said he had that texture a lot in the Chinese food he ate before. But as a Korean, that was a new experience for me. Before tip, everything came out to like ~$60, which was insane. I didn't think I could get that much food for this. The service was great. You do have to wait a while for some dishes though, as there's only two people rolling out the dumplings. The ambiance is really cool too. I think this is the only time I'll ever talk about how neat a bathroom was. Anyway, looking forward to coming back here a lot.

Yummm this place is good! The standout dish was the oil noodles and also the pan fried dumpling. They were both FULL of flavor and the dumplings had so much juice inside whilst also having a perfectly crispy bottom. Walked in at 8pm on a Friday and didn't have to wait at all, but I think I got lucky since there was only one open table even though it was close to closing time. I can imagine this place gets packed during peak hours. Parking is okay only because there is a large parking structure a few minutes behind the restaurant! Prices are fair and food was good. I'll be back!

The pan fried dumplings tho... Saw the reviews for this place and had to try it for ourselves. The shop itself is really cute. There was a horribly sour smell to the restaurant when we first walked in and a sleeping staff member at a table, so that initially threw off the vibe. Nonetheless we ordered from the QR code at the table, which was supplied with quite a few sauces, including a Shanghai worschester sauce, which I've never seen before. We got the crab and pork soup dumplings and the pan fried pork dumplings. Crab and pork definitely tasted most like crab, but the soup was souping, overflowing when you popped the hole in the dumpling, and was so hot and flavorful. The absolute star was the pan friend soup dumplings. Holy shit..... so full of juicy, hot soup, that was so flavorful and delicious. By far the best I've had. Staff was attentive and nice, outside of the one sleepy staff, but would and will be back for the dumplings.

Finally had a chance to visit Auntie Qiu's as it's been on my list for a while. First impressions, the inside is decorated nicely with plenty of seating. Service was also good, very attentive and answered all our questions. As for the food let's get into it: - Pan Fried Pork Buns (7/10) I heard they were know for these, we just thought they were okay. - Crab Roe Noodles (8/10) Probably our favorite dish, especially on a hot day. Highly recommend. - XLB Pork (7/10) These were good but I've had better at other places. - Bok Choy (9/10) Not pictured but highly recommend getting this as a side. One of the better Bok Choy side dishes I've had. Overall it was a good experience. Would I go again? I think once is enough, a lot of other places to try in the area .

Delicious food and good service overall! I just wish they had steamed or fried rice in the menu. The drinks we got were super refreshing as well, totally loved the flavors from Yuzu Jasmine and Peach Oolong. Don't forget to get cold soy milk as well. Sunday lunch time can be super busy and the whole environment can be overstimulating for some.

I wanna say this Chinese cafe focuses more on Shanghainese or Northern China food. The space feel retro, but modern and sleek at the same time. The service is quick and friendly. Coming here on a weekend evening, you can tell this place is wildly popular. We came in on the early side and there was a sign up and about a 15-20 min wait. The turnover is pretty quick though as the food comes out pretty fast after you order. Of course we ordered the Shanghai style pan fried dumplings (one of my favorite bites across any cuisine). We also ordered xiao long bao or soup dumplings as well as a black sesame cruller, a noodle dish (think it was crab), and a fish dish. All to share family style. Everything tasted as good as it was presented! And there are so many options on the menu, where I'd love to return often to try more items. I got some soy drink to wash it all down. Just a fun, vibrant place for a great meal.

Wow, well this kinda late since we been coming here but somehow never - ever leave a review. I finally figure out why. We always ate so much that I passed out. Smoke duck - Amazing Shanghainese wontons- damn good Crabs Roe noodles - really really good Shanghai Fried buns - legit must have Tofu's soup - yep another one to go please Pancakes with smoke ducks - go for it Egg rolls - looks and taste as good as pictured then some Scallion noodles - yup must have too Just realized that I forgot to take pictures on some food again with forgetfulness that happened when you are at Auntie's Qiu kitchen. Trust me. It's soooooo good and see their ratings, 4 stars for Chinese kitchen in Alhambra area is like a Michelin starred restaurant in NY

Wow, this spot is definitely a must try! Came on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. They have a waitlist so you can always walk around and check out the area. The food was all so good. Their breakfast pancake, mochi fried donut and dumplings were super delicious. Overall, no misses on any of the dishes.

I'd imagine this is about as close as you can get to traditional Shanghainese food in the 626. The ambiance and decor felt eclectic yet casual, and the service style leaned very fast-casual. You order through a QR code and the food comes out pretty quickly. Pan-Fried Pork Buns - 8/10 expected these to feel a bit heavy as an appetizer, but they were surprisingly balanced. Super flavorful with great texture and a juicy filling. Crab & Pork XLB - 8.5/10 super flavorful and the dumplings were huge. The crab flavor wasn't super prominent but the size and overall taste made up for it. I'd definitely order these again. Chinese Donut + Black Sesame Mochi - 6/10 love Chinese donuts, mochi and black sesame individually, but this combination was a bit too overwhelming and heavy for me considering most of what we ordered was carb heavy. Popcorn Chicken - 9/10 easily one of the best and better popcorn chicken I've had to date. The chicken was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned and the perfect crispiness. I asked for sweet and sour sauce and the waiter seemed a little confused by the request, but he still brought it out for me. Honestly, I'd come back for this alone. Scallion Oil Dry Noodles - 8/10 simple but really satisfying. The flavors reminded me of Mi Goreng (Indomie), and it paired perfectly with the popcorn chicken. I'd come back for this combo alone. Jellyfish with Vinegar - 2/10 sucks, I wouldn't recommend this at all. The jellyfish lacked flavor and the texture was extremely tough. Not sure how they missed on this dish but it was a letdown. Overall, the menu is extensive with plenty of variety and there are still so many dishes I'd love to come back and try.

Made the 40 minute drive from Long Beach for lunch yesterday and it was so worth it! First, parking is available across the street in a parking garage that is free for 4 hours. It's behind the buildings across from Auntie Qiu, but a short walk over. Upon arriving around 12:30pm, we put our name down on the check-in iPad and walked down the street to the farmer's market to kill time. Our total wait time was only 25-30 minutes. Order at the table using a QR code, with option to add more dishes as you want to. You can pay on the same ordering website, but our server came to us to take our payment. We ordered the Pan Fried Pork Buns, the Crab Soup Dumpling, and the Curry Beef Noodle Soup. The Pork Buns have soup inside as well. I was not expecting that but it was so good! We ended up ordering a second serving of the Pan Fried Pork Buns to take home. The Crab Soup Dumplings were also delicious. The Curry Beef Noodle Soup was good but not a stand-out like the two previously mentioned dishes. This restaurant is busy and lively, for obvious reasons. The dumplings and buns are amazing!

Cute literary environment! Even Einstein was present. Maybe this place is an intersection where science meets history. We wanted to try EVERYTHING! Our kind server said, "You already ordered a lot. Save some for next time!" Every morsel was tasty and on point in flavor and balance. My favorite this time were the little pork baos that were crispy on the bottom, filled with hot liquidy goodness, and just the perfect bite(s)! Server was right because everything was delicious and there will be a next time, God Willing.

Xiao Long Bao Pan Fried Pork Bun Steamed Black Cod

This place was bustling when we arrived, and from the outside it looked fairly small. Despite the crowd, we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly we were seated. The noodles were delicious and had a unique flavor thanks to the pickled mustard, which added a tangy twist that set the dish apart from your typical noodle bowl. The Pan Fried Pork Bun had just the right amount of crispiness on the bottom for a satisfying crunch. The real star of the meal, though, was the Xiao Long Bao. They were perfectly prepared, packed with flavorful broth, and absolutely lived up to the hype. They were easily my favorite dish of the meal and are an absolute must-order if you dine here!

    Xlb
    Amy L.

My favorite items here are the pan fried bao and the popcorn chicken. The pan fried bao is juicy, soft and crispy on the bottom. It tastes like the xlb but better if youre into bread. Popcorn chicken portion is alot and they give plenty of basil. I would skip the wonton soup unless the wonton that i get wasnt the right one. The broth was plain. There was a bit of confusion because we had a large table. (Party of 8, 2 tables combined as 1) I would recommend just using one food because when we had multiple phones going, it ended up have doubles. We ended up with 4 orders of pan fried baos. 4 xlb, and something else. We even told them at the beginning that the table numbers on the phone are showing up different and asked multiple times if we are going to get double orders. The server said no.. since they stacked the 2 pan fried bao orders in 1 dish, we just assume it was 1 since we forgot it obly came with 4. In the end, when they tried to give us 1 more item we told them to just pack it. We didnt mind paying for the food but it was just a hassle. They gave us this ice jelly thing that tasted like air as an apology though. Also the waitlist is on the left right when you enter the front.

The pricing of the items ranged from $8-$10 per item we ordered which is expensive but as a treat every once in a while and for the amount of time and effort that goes into making dim sum, it was worth it. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. The good part about the beef noodle soup was the beef chunks weren't too dry nor fatty. The noodles, however, didn't taste like the fresh hand pulled kind you'd find at other restaurants but rather the dried ones you can get at a supermarket (they tasted like the Quon Yick dry noodle). The broth isn't necessarily bland but I think it could have used more flavor. The soup dumplings had a generous filling, but there really weren't much flavors coming from the seasoning. It just tasted like pork and soup. The skin is a bit thicker than what I've seen at other places, but at least they didn't break. I wasn't a fan of the fried buns though. They were fried too crispy to a point that the skin was dry and crunchy and all the fluffiness was lost. Same with the soup dumplings, the filling could have used more flavor. The ones at Kang Kang Food Court would be the clear winner here. For the price, the portions are pretty fair. The menu is very limited, but it's very carb-focused, so it's not a great place if you're looking for alot of protein options. They don't really offer much in the vegetarian department.
