Found this new gem tucked away in the same plaza as the Smart & Final on Valley. Bangkok Soul has a cool, modern vibe with neon signs and TVs, definitely a nice spot for a casual dinner. We stopped by on a weekday and it wasn't too crowded, so the service was super attentive and the food came out fast. Here's the breakdown of what we grabbed: * Chicken Satay: The absolute highlight. The meat was actually tender (not dry like some places) and the peanut sauce was packed with flavor. Very authentic. * Tom Yum: Solid, classic flavors with just the right amount of kick. * Pad See Ew: Really well-executed and satisfying. I would say everything tasted fresh and authentic. If you're in Alhambra and looking for a quick, quality Thai meal without a massive wait, this place is definitely worth a visit!

I like how tbe lunch special comes with a drink and a side. The soul boat noodle was on the sweeter side and the meat kinda tasted like beef jerky. Couldve been boiling for too long. But its okay. I liked the meat or fish balls that it came with though. It was soft and went well with the sweet broth. For to go orders, there is a divider so that the noodles wont get soggy from the soup, which is always nice for noodle soups. Their thai tea was 80% milk so i felt like i was drinking iced milk. I got the curry croquette and its pretty good. Small but it might be because it was part of the lunch special. They also almost forgot my drink until i opened the bag and it was missing. Had to ask them for it. Maybe thats why the thai tea tasted mostly of milk. They probably rushed it. I would come back to trh other items though.

I've been seeing this place all over my IG and Tik tok so I wanted to check it out! The restaurant is smaller than I expected but the decor was so nice and welcoming. The service was also pretty standard. We ordered: Pad Thai 6.5/10: on the sweeter side and was full of sauce. The noodles were bouncy how I like it but overall a bit too much of the marination for me. Pad see ew 8/10: this dish was also packed w flavor. I got the dish with beef and it wasn't chewy but my dad got 2 pieces that he had to spit out bc it was too chewy. Super savory dish also packed with flavor. It had that amazing wok smell too. Pineapple fried rice 7/10: pretty standard and can't go wrong. Curry flavored notes and not too oily. Tom kha soup pot 7/10: very coconutty and good flavor but a bit too salty. Fire catfish 8/10: I liked the way it was fried. Great crisp. There wasn't too much bone. Chinese broccoli with crispy pork 9/10: pork was flavorful a bit salty but the rice balanced it out. The pork was crispy on the outside and the meaty part was soft. Overall I think a lot of the food was packed with flavor but maybe a bit too salty for some people.

First bite at the Crab Fried Rice was pretty amazing! Though, missing a squeeze of lime, this place gives you seafood sauce instead. The sauce itself is very tasty and it made a big difference to the fried rice overall. Pad Thai was way too sour and way too wet. I also much prefer when chives are used for pad thai like an authentic Thai dish, rather than green onions. Their pad thai came with green onions. Other than that, they have great deals for lunch specials and the service was lovely. I'm glad that there is another nice Thai food popping ip here in Alhambra. Looking forward to try other dishes!

Food was delicious, staff was friendly and the service was great. First time coming here after they changed it from Ren Ten tea. Bummer cause we loved their drinks especially their egg pudding. But the food is delicious.

There's a public plaza lot to get here. They have plenty of seating but it can get packed that you'll have to wait outside. While it gets packed, the volume level is decent. The inside is a fun casual vibe. The staff are nice and helpful. I got the chicken pad Thai. It pretty good. Not too saucey. It was hot and steamy. The Thai green tea latte was okay. It was too sweet and simple. But it's not a dedicated tea place so it's not the worst. I'd like to return because they had loads on their menu I want to try!

The food was really good. Got the pad Thai and curry coconut noodles. It was a little spicy but v good. The layout is exactly the same as the old Ten Rens. Parking is very easy The service was great. Overall: Will return for Thai food.

Solid! Came here after bookmarking on Yelp! I had read good things on a San Gabriel Eats page recommending Bangkok Soul. We walked in and the place was packed at 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon. Fortunately we were able to be seated immediately and even though our server said they were short staffed and there may be a wait, our order and food arrived very quickly. We can for the Pad See Eww, but we're intrigued by a donut and gravy dish. Turns out it's a savory shrimp donut that we will definitely come back to try. The green curry we ordered medium spicy and it has a nice robust flavor with large pieces of tender eggplant. We brought some home to use as a base for dinner tonight. Easy free parking. When we left there was still a line for tables.

I absolutely loved their shrimp pad see ew and crispy chicken rice! The pad see ew was deliciously savory and mildly sweet, and the tender shrimp & crunchy greens were tasty. The rice and chicken were perfectly crispy. The chicken was also so juicy & flavorful, and the sweet sauce that came with the order was the perfect addition. Unpictured, but our order came with a side of soup, which was pretty yummy too! This was my first time trying Bangkok Soul, and I will definitely be back to dine in :)

Service was friendly and food came out fast. Seating for 2 was very easy on a sunday lunch. However the 2 entrees came first, and crab rangoon appetizer came out pretty late into the meal which we laughed off. Interior was clean. The pork leg signature was beautifully braised and tender, and sauce was perfect with the rice. Veggies are not marinated or pickled. Crab Rangoon was crispy and fresh tasting The pad thai was not stand out. The sauce was distributed unevenly so one bite was salty, next was not. So be sure to mix it up well yourself. This is one of the more saucy and salty/sour pad thais i've had, not sure if its normal but im sure it suits someones tastes, but not so much mine. The noodles used have a deeper chew and bounce than what I'm used to.

3.83 stars. Pretty good flavors and menu variety for the SGV area but the meat selections could be more moist. Prices really fair. If you are looking for east Hollywood/thai town level of Thai food I don't think it's that level but definitely one of the more authentic Thai flavors/restaurants in the SGV

Overall a good experience. Service was friendly and quick. Food was good. I wouldn't say it's the best Thai food I've ever had but it was good. What we ordered: - crab fried rice: good, could use more crab though - boss leg: very tender but oily - fire catfish: loved the flavor! One of the better dishes but the fish had a lot of bones in it and wasn't as meaty as I'd hoped -pad thai: good, could be a little saucier -eggplant: good, lacked in flavor a little bit -Longyan herbal tea :this was delicious, not too sweet -Thai ice tea: too sweet and light in color

The curry had that hint of coconut that mellowed out the boldness of the curry. The restaurant was tiny and in this case definitely cozy. I moved to the SGV a little over a year ago and I have been sorely disappointed by offerings this nook of LA county has to offer *ahem banana bay*. I found myself driving to the SFV or Thai Town whenever I was too lazy to cook Thai food on my own. I decided to take a gamble with this restaurant and I am so very glad that I did. It's so good and authentic that I have come out of yelp retirement (Yelp Elite 2016-2020) to leave this review. I ordered four things as take out: Issan Sausage, Pad Kra Pow Minced Chicken, Spicy Fried Crispy Cat Fish, and Drunken Noodles. I was told that they were out of the Kra Pow Century Egg and stewed pork leg over rice. Hopefully, I'll get to try it next time! Issan Sausage: Good portions. Flavor is very good, a little sour, a little salty, and a hint of sweetness. I think the flavors could be a bit more bold with the sour but overall the flavors profile is as it should be. Frying it also added a nice crispiness to it. Spicy Fried crispy Catfish: Flavors were really good. Sweet foods is typically not usually in my flavor profile, but this is one of the few sweet entrees I actually like. Catfish can be a bit more fried but that is moreso a preference on my part. Drunken Noodle Beef: Good char on the noodles. Flavor was really good as well. Not that much beef but the star of the show are the noodles. I was a tad confused on the egg in my drunken noodle but to each their own. I would probably order it without the egg next time because it does change the texture a bit. Pad Kra Pow Minced Chicken: Now here's where it gets interesting! Tantawan actually uses holy basil (Kra Pow). It's harder to find but it has a very distinct flavor that Thai-American cuisine has for the most part substituted due to scarcity with Thai Basil (Horapha). I don't think you can get more authentic than actually using the right herb. Funnily enough, I think it can throw off people that have never had authentic Kra Pow as my partner said it tasted herbally. Thai food can be very hit and miss even among the Thai community as we all have different preferences when it comes to the holy trinity of sweet, salty, and sour. I am personally on the spectrum of sweet should be hinted at and never the forward flavor. Tantawan with the dishes I ordered definitely held to my flavor profile. Very well cooked and good flavor profile. I didn't have to add any seasoning as everything was cooked just right. I called my take out in and they said it would be ready in 20 and it was when I arrived. Even as the food sat in my passenger seat as I drove home I could tell from the smell emanating from the take-out bag that the food was going to be good. Quick and courteous service!

We joined their waitlist on their tablet near their counter and we were seated within 5 minutes. Just like the other location in Rowland Heights, it's very busy on a Friday night! The restaurant overall is very clean except near the entrance due to high foot traffic. It's decorated with Chinese lanterns, cherry blossom, and bamboo trees placed in the middle of the restaurant. It almost felt like I was dining at a high end restaurant. It's significantly smaller than the other location, but the high ceilings give it a spacious atmosphere. There are plenty tables and booths. Be aware the booths do move easily when you get out of your seat. We were sat in the booth closest to their entrance which I didn't mind at first, but after a while the high foot traffic was distracting (maybe they could place a divider between the waiting area and the booth). Onto the food, pricing, and service: portion is generous and they are more affordable than the Rowland Height's location. I ordered the Bbq Chicken Fried Rice. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was easy to take off the bone. The fried rice was light, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I couldn't finish my plate (even though I wanted to) so I boxed the rest to take home. My husband got the Continental Fried Rice. A dish Banana Bay is well-known for. The chicken skin was crispy, the fried egg was yolky in the center, the sausages were soft, and the fried rice was consistent with my plate's. Service was great and the staff was attentive even during their peak hours. I gained a sense of relief when more than one waitress checked in on us periodically. Overall, my husband and I had a great first impression. We're already talking about coming back in the near future. If you're looking for a Thai spot where you can order a plateful of food at an affordable price, this one is it!

I can't not complain about the food, the food is amazing and cooked perfect. The one huge thing…read morethat made this whole experience extremely horrible and unforgettable was the service, or lack of service for better explanation. And I have strongly feeling, we were discriminated because we were not of Asian ethnicity and because we were Latino. When we sat down it took them about 20 minutes to receive the menus, and another 20 to get water while at the same time every other table was being tended to multiple times. When I would raise my hand for service the "employees" who worked there would just look at me with my raised hand and continue to ignore me. When we ordered our food after almost 30 minutes of just sitting there, this Asian woman who refused to give me her name , came to our table and just took the chili sauce tray from our table and said "I'm going to use this for the other table since you guys don't have food, and I'll bring you one later." I said that was fine since we were still waiting on our food. 20 minutes later passed, and our food comes out. I asked the nice Asian gentleman who brought our food if I can get forks and spoons, since he didn't bring any to us. And he completely ignored me and walked away. So we had to sit there with our food with no utensils and no chili tray. I tried to get the attention of the Asian woman who took our chili tray so we can get one since our food arrived and the same Asian women server completely ignored me the whole time and only attended to her side of the restaurant. I don't understand the whole lack of customer service to people who clearly are not Asian, the ambiance felt off and you could totally feel the discrimination and different kind of treatment received. So after 10 minutes of just waiting for our utensils or for someone to come approach me after I've been flagging them down with my hands, I had to get up and go to the front desk and asked if someone could help us cause everyone is ignoring us. When I said that to the young lady at the front desk, she had someone come out immediately to finally give us utensils and our chili that was removed from our table. Not even 10 minutes after we started eating. A different asian woman waiter, who was not our waiter from earlier approached us and asked us "if you guys need to order more food do it it now cause we are about to close and needs to be ordered to go." I find it ironic that she only came to us to let us know that they were closing soon, but the other patrons who obviously were of Asian orientation were left alone. They brought us our check while we were still eating. It was obvious that they were rushing us out after the dreadful, abysmal, subpar service we received. Never have I been treated differently from the rest of the patrons in a restaurant, and I find it sad because I've been going to Banana Bay in Rowland Heights since 2010 and have NEVER received this kind of service. This will be my last time I support this restaurant and anyone who is Latino or any other different race for that matter, be warned.
