Seems like this place has pretty low ratings, but I am just thinking everyone is just not ordering the right things? I have been frequenting this restaurant for over 15 years. The quality has always been great and the food still tastes the same as it did all those years ago. My family and I make the drive from Lake Forest there occasionally just to eat! Here is what we usually order: Noodle World Spaghetti: This is my go to! There is a ton of seafood in this dish, but I like to swap out the mussels for more imitation crab. The flavor is unlike anything I have had elsewhere and it does have a good kick to it from the jalapeno seeds. I don't know exactly what they use to season this dish, but it is soooo good! Spicy Spaghetti: This is my older sister's go to plate since the beef in this dish is always so soft and tender. The spaghetti isn't spicy at all I would say, but it is a yummy dish with a lot of flavor as well. Garlic Chicken and Rice: This is my younger sister's go to since she is a picky eater. The chicken perfectly cooked and the seasoned. They give you extra crispy garlic on the side for more flavoring! Pineapple Fried Rice: Huge shrimps and pieces of pineapple and raisins. This is my dad's go to plate as he loves the cashews in them too! This time around, we tried the wonton noodle soup, which was just decent. Nothing too special about it. They were extremely kind to allow us to switch tables to watch the FIFA world cup game that was going on at the moment and did not rush us out either. I've been coming to Noodle World for nearly 30 years, and this is by far the smallest portion I've ever received. I ordered the Spicy Seafood Spaghetti ($16.99) and the Beef Chili with Rice ($14.99), and both portions were surprisingly small for the price. The seafood spaghetti barely filled the container, and the beef chili came with much less meat and rice than I've ever received here. I understand prices have gone up, but if portions are going to be this small, the menu prices should reflect that. This was very disappointing, especially from a restaurant I've supported for decades. From now on, I'll be opening my to-go order and checking the portions before I leave. Good Thai food. It's not traditional Thai food but it's very good and large portions. The chicken hanian is a great dish here. Also really enjoy the pad thai! We ordered noodle world fried rice, pad see ew, cat fish with chili sauce, spicy fried chicken, chicken satay, and grilled chicken. I noticed their food quality went down just by looking at some of the food. When I tasted it, it confirmed my doubts. Satay sauce was watery and the meat look weird. Spicy chicken sauce also used to be thick and full of flavor but it's very light now. I did not enjoy the food. We went on lunch time during the week and they didn't have much tables but yet when I ordered two drinks, it came about 10 minutes apart for each drink. We got Noodle World for our coworkers to celebrate a birthday and everyone enjoyed the food. We got a wide variety of noodle and rice plates like pad see ew, pineapple fried rice, and etc. When I picked up the food, the cashier was very helpful and used a cart to help carry all the boxes to my car. The portions are really good, it was enough to feed more than 10 people. The flavors are delicious, the only downside for some people was that they felt the pad see ew was a little too salty, but overall everything was good! Can't believe I'm about to say this but... the Tom Kah w chicken is surprisingly good as well as the pad see ew. I haven't been back to noodle world for a decade because there's always better specific noodle shops in the SGV. But these 2 dishes are 4/5 for me and so large you get lunch the next day. Also, ask for Thai chili in fish sauce and crunched peanuts as condiments. They are quick to serve and before you even ask, they'll give you sharing plates and bowls because they know everything here is to be shared (due to size of dishes for a decent price, average $16 a dish). Fast service with getting our order and our foods. But if you need refills or anything else after you get your food, forget it. The servers doesn't come back unless you get their attention. During our dinner, we tried to get a waiter attention for a water refill after he was done with a nearby table, we caught his attention, however he sarcastically said to us that people don't care that he's a human, he's not a robot, people treat him like a robot ??? Wow, what can I say about Noodle World? I've been coming to this location for years. I must say the atmosphere to dine in is not what it used to be. Now they don't even provide chili/sauce trays. Everything is packed for to go orders to in to go containers. I usually order for take out and once in the blue moon, I'd dine in. I came after lunch hours so the restaurant was not busy. I ordered Pineapple Fried Rice and Thai Pan Fried Noodles. In the past I usually ordered Hainan Fried Chicken, Mint Leaf Chicken, Spicy Spaghetti and Noodle World Tom Yum. Extensive menu but not everything is delicious. The noodle soups lately have been pretty bland. I do feel that food here used to be delicious but has been going down hill lately. I haven't been to this place since college, (early 2000's), but I'm glad to see this place has survived through tough times like the pandemic. It makes me happy to see small businesses like this still open and operating. The food is still good as I remember it. And the classic Big Boy statue is still the main feature in their dining room. Just a nod to the building history and previous business. I ended up ordering the Shoyu Ramen. It was delicious and packed with flavor. It had a decent amount of pork, and pieces of fish cake. When my dish came, I asked the waitress for some chili paste. She acknowledged my request, but was in the process of serving other guests. She became so busy as the dining room began to fill, so simply forgot about my request. Only when she came to collect my empty bowl, that she remembered. She was so apologetic and truly authentic, I didn't make it a big deal. Truly understandable, I was watching her as she was in charge of several tables, and multi tasking. I felt empathetic for the server, I didn't want to ask her a second time. She's already doing her best, and she wasn't stopping for breaks. She truly is a hard worker. Our server came up to take our order and not only a few minutes later they had the nerves to say "Your not ready to order." and walked away. This review is simply off of the to-go orders we recently got. My wife's family use to frequent here a lot when they lived closer, so they've always talked about it. They go here quite often with the whole family since its so spacious and is a good spot for a lot of people to share items. For my mother in law's birthday, we got a few dishes and I just felt like some of the dishes were quite bland. The beef salad was good as usual but some of the noodle dishes didn't really have any flavor to it. This is a 2.5 rounded up. Too bad we can't be more exact while reviewing. I recall coming here over a decade ago and it was a lively restaurant, and the food was much better. I've been back no more than a handful of times since then and the most recent visit gave me a different perspective. We walked in and stood by the counter waiting to be seated, and even though there were many staff members walking around, no one made eye contact or even acknowledged us. After a short while, a man with no smiles whatsoever seated us in the direct path of the wind from an industrial fan, so it felt like we were outside during winter. No one came by so we just got up and found another table. A short while later, a lady took our order. People there don't seem very friendly or even happy to be there. Plus, one thing I dislike about some restaurants is when the bill comes, they hand you a POS device, swipe your card and stand there staring while it's time to calculate the tip. That's as tacky as it gets. At least pretend you're busy and walk away. Don't worry, we're not the type to dine and dash. The food: Overall, decent. Because they seem to be Jack of all trades, they're master of none. Over the years, we've tried Chinese, Thai, fried, soupy noodles. They were all decent and edible, but not one stood out for us to crave. There were no condiments on our table so we couldn't even adjust the flavors. Asking for to go boxes, I had to get up, look for someone and ask for it. I used to think of this as a place for comfort food. But this past experience gave me anything but comfort.
