On the way back from Santa Ana, find LuYiXuan Restaurant in Alhambra, which serves Shanghainese and Taiwanese cuisine. This restaurant is difficult to get parking because it is located inside a small plaza on the corner of Valley and Garfield. Fortunately, I found a parking space there. The restaurant is not particularly large, But there are many customers dining there. We ordered Garlic Cucumber, Braised Pork Rice, Garlic Water Spinach, Braised Beef Noodles, Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs, Garlic Beef Cubes, and two Thai Milk Teas. I'm able to speak with the owner, who informs me that this restaurant does not use MSG or other ingredients. Everything is fresh and healthy. After tasting the food and the Braised Beef Noodles, I can tell it's really tasty and light, with no harsh components that make you thirsty and want to drink more water. So far, my family and I have really enjoyed the food here. Definitely will return and try other delicious foods next time.
Prices and portions are fair in this little shop in Alhambra, and the pig ear here is cut thin and marinated in a classic chili sauce! Service is outstanding and very friendly, and the restroom is clean. Lots of free parking is available in the small lot outside. The restaurant is in a corner of the lot within unassuming outside exterior but very nice interior. The garlic cucumber was crunchy and light in marinade. I enjoyed the pig ear but prefer thicker cuts typically. It would be wonderful to come back to try other entrees.
Best Chinese food in LA county! When I first discovered this place in February 2025, I came every single day for a month straight. Every time I'm in the area, I stop by. Simply the best.
Small parking lot with additional garage parking. Such a hole in a wall spot! It's located right inside a small plaza near the corner. We tried a few of their dishes and the braised pork rice and beef noodle soup was great and flavorful. We also got the seafood curry cause it looked like a popular item to try but that was tasted mediocre. The flavor was a bit bland and the curry was more watery Staff is really friendly and sweet.
We've been here many times throughout the past 3 years and each time we leave with our bellies full and a smile on our faces. It's simple what they do well here, they make darn good food that tastes like homemade food (healthy and delicious), they price everything on the menu very reasonably (especially in these crazy times), and they treat all their customers like family/neighbors. Now that I've given you the why, let's move on to the good food. We usually order the beef noodle soup because of how tender the meat is and the soup & noodles are just perfect comfort food. And we always pair it with veggies (garlic cucumbers or water spinach) and pork dumplings are also amazing. Almost any of their braised meat rice/noodles are just really good (popular ones are braised pork rice or braised chicken leg rice). Interior space is also very roomy and comfortable for big groups or cozy meals Parking is pretty easy since they have a lot in their back entrance and they used to let you park underground as well but the building's new management started closing the gates at 6pm because they're just sad and unfriendly human beings lol but luckily the surrounding area has many places to park.
My daughter found this restaurant on Yelp because of its high ratings and description of Taiwanese food. She wanted to try their braised pork rice. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived, there were only a few tables. It's a small restaurant. The owner (I think) and waiter were both very welcoming and friendly. They gave us complimentary cups of chicken vegetable broth. We decided to try some items that we regularly order at other restaurants and some new items. Chicken vegetable broth: 5/5 - I thought this was the best dish we had. Very umami broth. Beef burrito appetizer: 3/5 - This is more commonly called a beef roll at most other restaurants. It was okay, they don't fry the wrapping like some other restaurants. Braised pork rice: 3/5 - Good portion size and reasonably priced. The flavors are less Taiwanese and more Shanghai. Braised beef noodle:3/5 - Compared to other beef noodles soups we've had this was just okay. Braised intestine rice noodle: 3.5/5 - they were nice enough to make mine without peppers. I enjoy intestines and wanted to try this dish. The owner suggested I have it with vinegar which I tried and after eating maybe a quarter of the dish I felt nauseous from the vinegar. The vinegar does enhance the dish but at the same time you can only have so much of it without feeling queasy. I would rate this place 3.5 rounded up to 4. Food wise I thought this place was just okay. But I really enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and might come back again in the future to try new dishes.
Brought my out of town guests here on a stop from a west coast cruise because, and I quote, "Janelle, there is NO good Asian food on the boat!" I let them order because this was to satisfy their cravings....and, they're Taiwanese that live abroad. We ordered salt & pepper spare ribs, rice cakes w/pork, pan fried dumplings, pigs feet, tendons, pig ear and to balance it out some sautéed garlic spinach. All the food was cooked authentically and my friends couldn't stop talking about how good it was. This restaurants aura is a relatively casual setting. Parking lot is tight, there's not a lot of it at street level. You can enter from the parking lot through a back door or you can enter from the street. They don't care, they are happy to see and serve you. The vibe was good. Yes, I'll e back to try all the other yummy Taiwanese dishes!
Tasty , tasty , tasty I was in the area and was craving some food and decided to come here and I know I made the right decision. The braised pork ribs were excellent.
You just don't find this stuff west of I-5. This bowl of noodles has convinced me to go to SGV more often. The broth was deep and fragrant, the 2 cuts of beef (banana shank and brisket) had their own charms, and the noodles had some bite. Got a touch of Taiwan and a touch of Shanghai.
I went with friends to Luyixian in Alhambra and had a great experience eating their Chinese food! I was in the mood for 牛肉面 Beef Noodle Soup and got just that! Their noodles have a great chew, and a nice "Q" texture to them, and I loved every single bite of them. Their soup is a bit spicy, but thats my bad for asking for spicy. My party also got another order of 牛肉面 Beef Noodle Soup, and 卤肉饭 Braised Pork Rice, and shared a 空心菜 Hollow Vegetable Stir Fry. We finished everything before we left. Their portions are just perfect! Their prices are great for their portions as well, and everyone in my party table was happy with their order. Service is friendly, and our food was served in less than 5 minutes from ordering. it's a great spot if you are looking for a quick bite to eat if in a rush. They also handle a lot of take-out orders as well and are on the phone a lot. When you pass by the restaurant's sign on the street, just make a loop around to find the underground parking. It's a bit dark and you gotta climb the stairs up to find the restaurant entrance, but not too hard of a find. Their bathroom is gender neutral, large, and kept very clean, which i appreciated since we were on our way to the airport. Their 牛肉面 Beef Noodle Soup is delicious and I would definitely come back!

Came here in search of the best beef noodle soup, but it was just alright. Here are my thoughts on the whole meal: -Spicy Beef Noodle Soup: The spice level was actually pretty mild in my opinion. I enjoyed the chewy noodles and the fact that they weren't doughy or thick. I think the broth starts you off with a good savory note but leans rather sweet with each sip. The chunks of beef were pretty tender and had nice areas with a bit of fatty trim. Nice crunchy baby bok choy as well. -Collagen Chicken Broth: This was given to us for free prior to the dishes we ordered. You could tell the bone broth was collagen-rich as it was cloudy and even came with one chicken foot for each serving. This came out hot and was very comforting. Much appreciated. The restaurant and parking: The parking lot is super small and seems to be shared with the neighboring businesses. We were able to find a spot in the back. It seems like the business has two doors so there's also an entrance in front. The restaurant has seating area immediately surrounding their counter, as well as additional tables inside their connected dining room. Service was pretty quick and attentive. Overall: Not bad but not outstanding. Still on the hunt for a more savory beef noodle soup.
I was on the lookout for a new place to get braised beef noodles from and found Luyixian. Upon arriving on a Sunday evening, we were able to get seated right away. They serve a small bowl of complimentary chicken feet soup for everyone. Another plus is that they have a clean public restroom. Food: It's $15.99 for a bowl of braised beef noodle. The soup is on the sweeter side. Noodles are bouncy and chewy. Beef is tender. I would say it's a solid beef noodle but I do prefer ones that aren't so sweet. The stir fry rice cakes were good too, no cons. Ambiance: No loud music, but there's a soft background noise from the television and you can hear stir fry noises from the woks in the kitchen. Service: Attentive and quick
We were in the area, found this spot and ordered the beef noodle soup and fried rice. We came past 2pm on a Saturday and it wasn't busy. The place is clean and from the outside it looked small but there adequate seating. Service was fast. The soup was soooo good, the beef was melt in your mouth tender. The noodles were good as well as the fried rice. Straight forward - no frills good food. read more
Leyixian is a great late-night option when you're craving something hearty. They're open until 11 PM, so I stopped by for some spicy beef noodles to go, and it definitely hit the spot. The noodles had that authentic Taiwanese flavor, with a nice spicy kick and a satisfying beefy broth. Perfect for a late-night craving when most places are already closed. This place is legit. Nostalgic, authentic, comforting flavors. Braised pork rice: a classic dish that they do right. Love that they give you sauce on the rice. All the sides you typically want with 卤肉饭 are included, from egg to cabbage to pickled veggies. Vinegar shredded potato 土豆丝: perfectly cooked texture and the flavor is refreshing light savory and perfectly vinegary. I will keep coming back here! Had came here for dinner on a "early" Friday evening. Why I had said "early" was because there was no other customer when we arrived at 630P. Had mildly got worried after being seated in the next room as it seemed like they had just opened or had not had business, despite the 4.5 star rating at almost 500 reviews. AFTER we had ordered and got food, was when the restaurant was getting BUSY ! ALL tables were full and the restaurant was ALIVE ! (thank god...) Guess we "beat" the rush or rather "beat" everyone .... We had ordered a few things to share family style PIG EARS WITH RED OIL - standard pig ears with red oil. Nice and crunchy. Good flavor. Weirdly 3rd to be served as its a cold appetizer dish. BRAISED PORK RICE - decent portion size with BIG pieces of brasied pork belly, whole braised egg (cut in half), preserved veggies, and a mountain of cooked cabbage along with a bowl of rice covered in the braising sauce. Pork belly was super tender, fatty, and flavorful. Different from the "traditional" lu rou fan but still delicious. Probably would've prefered this in a bowl vs a plate (if eating myself). BRAISED BEEF NOODLE - again decent portion size. Lots of meat chunks and slices. pretty flavorful. SICHUAN DAN DAN NOODLE - uses the same noodles as beef noodle but the weird thing to me is how "thin" the sauce is on this. ALMOST soupy so it doesn't really "cling" to the noodles that well. LOTS of WHOLE peanuts (vs usually crushed) FRIED RICE CAKE WITH SHREDDED PORK - this was kind of sad looking. MAINLY rice cake. MINIMAL "shredded pork" and veggies. Flavor was fine but just looked sad. Overall, was fine. Service attentive was a bit weird, even when they were empty. Had to poke head out of the room to flag them down, then they got busy. Parking probably would be a pain but luckily we beat the crowd and got a parking right outside the door. Quite a "hole in the wall" place. What a nice surprise! This is a little hole-in-the-wall that can seem unassuming from the exterior but don't let that fool you! Upon entering, we were seated immediately and given a free appetizer, some sort of chicken feet soup. We ended up ordering the pork trotters, spicy beef noodles and spicy braised pork rice. Pork trotters (4.5/5): The skin was tender and juicy. It was flavorful yet not too overwhelming. Highly recommend as an appetizer to share! Braised pork rice (4/5): The braised pork just melts in your mouth! The sauce on the rice pairs well with the meat Spicy beef noodles (5/5): Definitely the star of the show! There was a decent amount of protein, the broth was savory and not too heavy. It's not very spicy, just a tad numbing akin to Szechuan style dishes. This is a must order on your first time here! Overall, I really enjoyed this experience and would recommend to those in the area looking to get some good Chinese food with tremendous value ! read more
Followed this restaurant from the Bicycle Club Casino for good reason. A fusion of China and Taiwan the food here is really good and they make adjustments to the menu to appease the appetite of their patrons Service is excellent as they constantly check up on you and keep all your drinks topped off. It's a real joy to see the staff that served us from the casino all here. Food - I've yet to find something I don't like here. My current favorites are the beef noodle soup, fatty beef rice, and braised pork feet. I crave it constantly only taking breaks when I'm traveling. Ambiance here is chill and generally not too loud. Great place for Chinese comfort food and to wind down from a busy day. Parking is behind the restaurant and has underground parking also. There are entrances both front and back. Highly recommend this to everyone. read more

We love an authentic hole in the wall! My friend and I came here on a Thursday evening, and didn't have to wait at all. The restaurant itself is intimate, but never felt tight or stuffy. They bring you some chicken feet soup right away, which I personally loveeeed so much. We ordered the Braised Beef Noodle Soup - mine was normal, and his was spicy. Also some braised pig feet ("braised pork trotters" on the menu) to share. The braised pork feet were delicious! Perfectly marinated, soft and tender but still bouncy. Each bite reminded me of my childhood. The beef noodle soup was also exceptional, probably the best broth I've had in LA for this particular dish. I also tasted a bit of the spicy version, and it was very mild (in a good way for me) - on a scale from 1 to 10, I'd rate the spiciness level at 1. The meat was very tender too, and portion sizes were great. The server was kind enough to refill my soup before packing my leftovers to-go! I would def come back here! Had this place bookmarked for a while and then my friend ended up taking me here before I could come on my own accord. They give you the chicken feet soup to start with for free! We ended up ordering things like beef noodle soup, tripe tendon noodle soup, spicy pickled boiled fish, they were all banging! Noodles have very good chew here, almost too much. All the meats are stewed so long it was just so satisfying to me. VERY SOLID SPOT!! I want to go back already please. The place is pretty small though and can't fit too many people. I've been yearning for a good beef noodle soup and braised pork with rice for quite some time. Really since Guppies went out of business in the early 2010s. Of course, there's plenty of places that sell this in the San Gabriel Valley but I never actively searched for it. But after being able to spend more time in the SGV lately I knew I had to quell this desire somehow and luckily Luyixian fulfills all my taste desires. Well, almost. If they had popcorn chicken it would really take me back, but I digress. - Parking and Interior - Let's start off with the parking and dining space. Parking here is tight as it's a courtyard for the multiple businesses located in this somewhat shopping plaza. There is an underground parking space as well but it can feel a little hectic when it is busy. Inside the restaurant you'll either enter a tiny hallway to the dining space or the front glass door located on the street. Inside is quite small but you can see they expanded their dining room space by utilizing a different part of the building. However, when you sit in the main part of the restaurant it feels like the tiny, cozy locations you would expect in Taiwan. - Service - The great thing about Chinese/Taiwanese food is how quickly you get your food. When you sit down and are ready to order you flag down your server and order off the menu. After you do so you'll receive a soup/broth to enjoy before your meal comes out, which usually only takes about 6-10 minutes before your food appears hot and ready to go. - Food - Luyixian is specifically known for their braised pork and rice along with their beef noodle soup. We tried both and they were fantastic. The braised pork with rice comes with a slightly pickled cabbage, what I think is a tea egg, and pickled mustard greens. The pork is cooked so well it melts on your chopsticks. The flavor is robust with a slight sweetness to the deep savoriness infused in each bite. When paired with rice and the sourness of the pickled vegetables you get a well balanced spoonful. The beef noodle is similar in texture to the braised pork in the fact the meat is super tender and easily falls apart in your mouth. The soup leans more towards the sweet side but never falls into feeling like a dessert. Also, they give you so much beef with these noodles I ended up with a good amount of beef still available even after I finished the noodles. That's some generosity. We also tried the garlic cucumbers which had a nice crunch with each bite and a slightly sour, savory flavor with each bite which bursted with brightness from the natural flavor of the cucumbers. It is a clean dish to have to cut through a meal that might fall into too heavy. The red chili oil dumplings were also ordered. I wish I could rave about it but what I'd say is they are dumplings and there is red chili oil pooled at the bottom of the bowl. If you don't order this you won't be missing anything. - Final Thoughts - I had a great time at Luyixian and I'm glad I was able to come here for dinner after a long day of work. This is an easy restaurant to go to without reservations and just to enjoy a tasty meal. It isn't elaborate or fancy but you will leave satisfied and happy. For casual, tasty food with no frills, Luyixian is a perfect restaurant to dine at. read more
What a great place! Parking was a little tricky, so I ended up parking on the street, but it was totally worth it. The staff was very friendly as soon as I walked in. I had heard a lot about the #44 (now the #42), and wow what an amazing plate! It's so colorful, and once you take a bite, the flavors are incredible. A must try. Came here for lunch right when they opened. They are located in a small plaza so parking can be limited. We got seated right away and were given waters and menus. They had a Chinese show playing on a TV mounted on the wall. There's a bathroom. I got the braised pork rice which came with some cabbage and pickled veggies. The pork was savory with a good balance of fat and lean meat. They also have a bowl of complimentary chicken feet soup- it's light but savory. Very good! read more
Its a nice little Taiwanese food spot. I ordered the Braised Pork Rice. Very flavorful, and they give you a good portion. Reminds me of home. The Ambiance is quiet, but it gives it a comforting feeling of them cooking in the kitchen. Nice place to wind down and eat at the end of the day. Service is fast, employees are very nice. I've been a big fan of this spot for a while and I'm not sure why I never left a review sooner. This place is known for their braised dishes and they do them really well. I usually get the braised pork rice, the braised pork elbow, or the braised pork intestines. All of them are delicious. They braise everything until it's super tender, then serve it over rice so the braised juices soak in. It's so good every time. I always add extra chopped peppers because I like it spicy. The peppers are a little tangy, which helps cut the richness of the braised meat. They also give you a small soup with your order, which is a nice touch. This place can get busy and they open a bit later in the day, so I usually call ahead and order for pickup. One hundred percent worth it if you're into Taiwanese style braised dishes. read more
They have different beef noodle soup but i dont know the difference so i get their house special. Sometimes I ask for little spicy and they do it. If you order soup for take out, they give it to you in 1 bowl but the soup and noodles are separated so the noodles dont get soggy. Service is friendly and usually fast.They give you free chicken soup. The chicken soup comes with chicken feet and pork but you dont have to eat them if you dont like. Also,Came on a sunday afternoon and the restaurant was pretty packed. Had to wait a little to get tables. One day i will try their rice dishes. read more

Solid affordable Chinese Restaurant known for their delicious braised beef noodles! I came here back in January evening for dinner with a group of friends. This place did not disappoint. The staff are all Chinese and very friendly. Be aware that you may see the managers dog chilling outside (don't worry he's friendly). Restaurant feels small inside but there's lots of seating. The braised beef noodle soup was under $20 and was very filling and flavorful. Excellent value. Overall I'd give this place a 8.5/10. Definitely stop by if you're in the area and looking for some authentic Chinese noodles. They also have lots of spicy dishes and other Chinese dishes that look very delicious. read more
Yes they have some Taiwanese dishes but the flavor profile is mainland Chinese - minced pork rice, beef noodle soup, etc. I advise you to get the non-Taiwanese items -- boiled fish, sliced beef, beef brisket, dumplings, potstickers, etc. especially if you are Taiwanese so you won't be disappointed. No matter what dish you order, add some of their in-house chili sauce and you'll enjoy it even more. Very good, personable service unusual for a Chinese restaurant. The rice plates are totally good value for money! Very flavourful cuts of meats. Previously we tried their braised beef noodles (#53) and it was so delicious. One of the best braised beef noodle soups in sgv. This time we tried the rice dishes. Braised pork and braised pork elbow. So much food for $16!! Very tender and packed with a lot of flavour. Would definitely order again. Service is good and quick too read more
10/6/25 Monday Came for a late dinner around 8 PM. Parking was plentiful underground. The entrance is a little obscured as it is tucked in the corner immediately after you exit the parking entrance. Inside looks newly remodeled and there are two separate rooms. It looks like one can be reserved for parties. We ordered Braised Pork Rice, two variations of Beef Noodle Soup, and the house special boiled fish fillet. The food came out quick. The braised pork rice could've been a little hotter, but flavor wise, it was tasty. The fish was quite spicy but tender, tasty, and hot. Overall satisfying experience. The beef soup was a bit on the saltier side, but this is usually my experience for beef noodle soup. read more
MELTY TENDER JUICY GOODNESS!!! This is one of my ultimate comfort food places where I go when I just want a warm home cooked meal. I usually order togo and I love that they still give you a soup (because some places don't)! I really only order 2 things here but I'm sure the rest of the menu is good too-- pig elbow rice and braised pork rice (with chili when possible) Pig elbow is nice and tender and the skin is cooked nicely and sticky soft. The braised pork is soft, tender, fatty but not heavy. It goes soooo well with rice. The rice here is cooked well too where you can see each individual grain of rice without it being mushy or broken. The bowls also come with cabbage, pickled vegetable, and a seasoned hard boiled egg. It's a very solid meal! read more
One of our favorite restaurants in 626, also because they open past 8pm (for late dinner eaters) and easy for takeout folks. Popular items for us are $16.99 Braised Rice Dishes (great for takeout and individuals; our favorites are intestine or pork), or the $18.99 House Boiled Fish Filet (better eaten there with a group). Front room are good for smaller groups of 1-4, and the backroom for limited larger parties (open during dinner). Parking: Front areas, or tiny compact parking downstairs shaded garage. This place is the location for the former famous Old Country Cafe (Taiwanese food). It was one the original restaurants and reasons for the Taiwanese and Chinese community to start living in 626, and sold to anlther owne who couldn't sustain the same style and quality of food. The backroom used to be a library of mangas and such. For a group of 4 we ordered the below for dinner. We had some leftovers. And split cost was around ($98 with 20% tip was $25 per person). - Pig Ears with Red Oil appetizer $12.99 was super spicy. This was okay. It wasn't as fresh. - House Boiled Fish Filet $18.99 is mala numb spicy. This is a popular dish to get here. - House Special Braided Pork $16.99 is herbal in taste. I love that! - Vinegar shredded potatoes $10.99 - Chicken Fried Noodles $11.99 (cause House Special fried noodles $11.99 were sold out). If it was just the 2 of us, these are also items we would regularly get: - Braised Intestine Rice or Noodles with pickles $15.99 - Braised Pork Rice or noodles $15.99 - House Special Braised Beef Noodles $15.99 - Spicy Beef Tripes Appetizer $14.99 - Garlic water spinach $11.99 - Shredded Napa Cabbage $11.99 We've tried other items too - Fried Rice Cake Dish $11.99 - Other rice and noodle dishes. Etc. Items we have not tried but will get next time, House Special fried noodles $11.99 (since it was sold out last time). Garlic Cucumber $6.99 Sweet and sour jelly fish $8.99 House Special Tofu Skin $8.99 We love getting takeout from here. Its easy, and they supply easy to eat out of containers with nicer utensils. read more

We just went to a birthday brunch here & it's my first time here so I thought they might just be a dumpling house. Boy was I surprised to find a fully decorated private room for the party! They served a banquet style coursed meal & I was incredibly impressed. Not only was the service on point, the food was absolutely delicious. The chicken legs, duck, honey walnut shrimp, lobster, and the lions head soup were all stand outs! Parking was accessible too! We all want to do birthdays here now read more
