Very tasty Shanghainese restaurant! Parking can be difficult because their parking lot is pretty small but there is street parking available! Service was ok and not too attentive or friendly Inside was pretty spacious and had plenty of indoor seating but there isn't outdoor seating. Menu had a good variety of appetizers, main dishes, rice and noodle dishes. Pricing was reasonable ($15-$20+). The Sweet & Sour Fish Fillet ($18.00) was delicious! Huge pieces of crispy and perfectly fried fish! Not too oily or salty! Really enjoyed how the sauce had a perfect balance of sweet and sour! This was 8/10 Walnut Shrimp ($26) was so good! The walnuts were crunchy and not too sweet! There were plenty of huge shrimps that were lightly covered with mayonnaise and not too overly fried! This was 8/10 Kung Pao Chicken ($16) was mediocre. It was quite salty and a little too spicy. The chicken was too dry and the sauce was too salty. This was 5/10 Stir Fry Beef with Snow Pea ($18) was pretty good. The beef was quite tender and the snow peas were very sweet and crispy! The sauce wasn't too salty so this dish was enjoyable! This was 7/10 Seaweed Fried Fish ($20) was spectacular! I loveee this place it's one of my favorite Chinese places to eat. Ordered the braised pork belly, dongpo rou, scallion pancake, tofu, chow mein, and pan fried buns. Every dish was delicious except the pan fried buns? The buns were too soft and didn't have the crispy bottom. Superb food and service, elegant dining room. The dishes are classic Shanghainese: lion's head meatball, rice cake, seaweed fish, tea smoke duck. Favorite was the seaweed fish (5 stars), lightly battered and fried to crispy perfection; make sure you add a sprinkle of pepper salt to kick it up a notch. The other dishes are solid 4 stars. I wish the duck was de-boned, more tender, and easier to make into a sandwich -- it was the most expensive dish ($33) as well as my least favorite. Did I mention the service was superb? Our server was very patient and helpful in explaining the dishes to my friends who knew zilch about Shanghainese food. Came here on a Friday for lunch and didn't have to wait too long to get seated. Most of the food is Shanghainese style, though I love the variety of the menu. We had the kung pao chicken, Shanghainese style noodles, and the supreme meatball. The noodles and chicken were good, flavorful and with good quantity too. Was not a fan of the supreme meatball however, I don't know if it's star anise or what kind of spice, but it had too sweet of a taste in the sauce and within the meat. Not sure if it's because we came close to Thanksgiving, but unfortunately, there were quite a few mishaps that led me to marking this a 3/5 overall. We got seated relatively fast, but everything beyond that was terribly slow. I think we waited about 1.5 hours until our first food arrived - and then 15-30 min intervals for every dish following that. We tried asking about our food whereabouts, only to be met with a dismissive waitress who basically ignored us. Other tables that arrived and ordered after us somehow got the same dish we ordered before us - we assumed they had forgotten our orders at some point. There was one lovely waitress, so she was kind to get the ball rolling for us more. The food itself was okay. The flavors weren't that strong except for the eggplant dish. Some of the food arrived cold, which I was not very pleased with. The interior is nice and clean. It did feel a bit tight though. read more

How the mighty has fallen. The best eel dish in SGV became the worst. I used to praise this place for this dish but now they cook it half heartedly and forgot what they should put in it. Where's the hot oil sizzling over the yellow chives? The dish was lukewarm. They had a special lobster deal. Reason why was apparent when you took a bit in it. The meat were soggy and felt like it was frozen so long that the meat became utterly destroyed. No flavor, just mushy crap. So disappointed. read more

Ugh! I didn't want to believe it but all the recent comments are true. The good news is the seaweed salted fish is still good! However I decided to also order combination fried rice and it's the worst fried rice I've ever had. Not kidding. There's barely any...anything in there. Maybe 5 pieces of peas, 5 pieces of carrots, one piece of shrimp, and 2 tiny prices of chicken. My whole meal was $40. Certainly not worth it. The restaurant inflated the prices and deflated the quality. Service was quick and place is still cleaned. But food quality is severely down. Sad they were a michellin star restaurant. I've had this bookmarked for months and I'm glad I finally got to try it out! Fish filet - 5/5 - the fish was super tender! We finished this one first! Beef w/ asparagus - 5/5 - beef was very soft and asparagus was good but I wish there was more in the dish. String Beans - 4.5/5 - love string beans! Had a lot of garlic Braised Pork - 4/5 - the fat was soft but the meat was a bit tough and the sauce was salty. We didn't have any rice to help combat the sauce. Sweet Rice Soup - 5/5 - my family has never tried this before and was very pleased! it's a good way to end a meal. it's sesame filled rice balls with egg drop in sweet soup! **Yelp Check-In deal NOT HONORED** Not sure how Jiang Nan Spring got the Bib Gourmand in 2021, but I'm not impressed. At a glance from the entrance the interior looks modern and upscale, however when I sat down I immediately noticed the stains on the table cloth. Picture or it didn't happen, so I made sure to capture that. My boyfriend and I came in and they sat us down at a table that was so wide, I felt so far from him. We shared the Filet Mignon w/ Lily Bulb ($22), Walnut Shrimp ($20), and a Saute String Bean w/ Ground Pork ($15) and 2 bowls of White Rice ($2/order). I think it's a bit tacky that the rice isn't included with this style of cuisine. The filet mignon was no doubt the best tasting item. It had good flavor but there were some tough pieces. The saute string beans were decent but super oily. It defeated the purpose of getting a vegetable to be healthy. The walnut shrimp is usually one of my favorite dishes but the one here tasted funky. I felt obligated to eat it cause I picked it. Sigh. I have no plans to come back. Honestly!! It failed to my to my expectations. The three main courses that I ordered did not agree with my taste buds. Fantastic Shanghainese food that got a Bib Gourmand in 2021. We came back for dinner and were excited to get Shanghainese food in SGV. It was just the 2 of us so we were hesitant to order too much food much ending up getting the dungeness crab with rice cake, seaweed fried fish, loofa with dried shrimp, and pork and bamboo soup. First, the portions were huge! Definitely made for 4+ people, every dish was bigger than we expected and we had plenty to take home. Every dish was yummy and I loved how flavorful everything was. The crab was really fresh and I loved the sauce with the rice cake, making it a full meal in of itself. I would say this place is my 2nd Michelin star Chinese restaurant I've experienced thus far, and really enjoyed. Their dishes range from poultry to vegetarian as well as fish. Delicious and not overly salty. Great service! Modern lighting and tables. The second time I'm here, this business offered Yelpers a one time 25% off coupon. When I showed this to them the servers didn't recognize it. They tried contacting the owner but we couldn't wait long enough for him/her to respond. Pretty disappointed they didn't honor the coupon. This place opened a little before the pandemic. I've ordered lunch to go here once before, and the food could have been better, so dining here again was not really on my list. We decided to give this place a shot since everyone raves about it. Food: Everything was good. The highlight was the lobster noodle; I'm not even a lobster person. I came expecting dongpo pork, and sizzling rice soup. I didn't know they are under new ownership and those items are no longer offered. I opted for stewed pork with abalone and pickled radish. The stewed pork was tasty. I wish it was more tender. Like, melt in your mouth tender. The fat was still a little hard. The picked radish was very very good. I felt a little bad because I wanted to order dessert, and a server (female) wasn't too friendly. She could see I was ready for service and she sort of, was stand offish and was stone faced. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed, I highly recommend to make a reservation before coming for night time. The food was really good but I suggest to review Yelp for pictures for each dish because the English names doesn't make them appealing. If you have an Asian friend, it would be nice to do some recommendations. Some dishes are cold appetizers so don't be confused why the fish is cold. One of the better Chinese Restaurants I have been to. The quality of the food and ingredients its outstanding the service is attentive and friendly. We came early for lunch and there was no one but by the time we left the restaurant was beginning to get busy. My favorites were the Shanghai Baby Ribs, Walnut Shrimp and the Beef dish. My husband's family likes to get Chinese food during the holidays, so I actually tried this place on Thanksgiving. Yes they were open, and they were packed! They didn't accept reservations over the phone, at least that's what they told us. But when we got there they said another party had our table in about an hour and a half. I'm not sure if that's because they have a time limit for tables or someone was able to make reservation, but I wasn't really a fan either way. They also stuck us in this weird round table right by the front entrance that was pretty drafty. Anyway, on to the food! I have to say, it actually exceeded my expectations. Personally, I'm not much of a Chinese food stan but I really enjoyed everything we had. Granted we probably chose the most Americanized dishes possible but it was really good for what it was. Michelin worthy, though? Not what we had. We ordered shrimp chow mein, chicken fried rice, wonton soup, and seaweed flavored fish. Chow mein was cooked just right and not too greasy. I didn't have the wonton soup but it was really substantial. It was huge and looked very fresh. I loved the seaweed fried fish. It was a tempura batter but really light and crispy. Came out very hot, too. The chicken fried rice took forever for some reason. It was good, too, though. Pretty hard to screw that one up. I wish they had some sauces on the table or had offered some. Came here for dinner on a Saturday & was seated right away. It got crowded after 6:30p. The place was spacious with lots of food options. Service was ok, but the food was good & it came out quickly. We enjoyed the fried green beans, stir fried snow pea leaves, steamed fish & spare ribs. The duck was only ok, if we knew it was fried we wouldn't have ordered it. It definitely deserves a lot of the praise it gets My favorite fish was the tofu, avocado, black egg, tomato mixture. It was good! I am used to tofu and black egg but the avocado really added in more savoriness. Never thought about that combo but it works! Some tomato for acidity and the kick from the chili oil made it perfect! The roasted fish was good but be careful of the bones The XLB was good but there are places that do it better I really liked the soup, good flavor, clean, big bamboo shoots, would definitely get that again The black truffle fried rice was not my favorite, kinda bland, kinda gummy, have no idea where the black truffle was but not worth getting again The Lily's ribs were kinda interesting but I wouldn't get them again. First impression was good - friendly staff greeting you in entry, white table cloths on tables, clean, and modern. The food was good! I got steamed croaker with mustard greens, the supreme meatball, and xiao long bao. The fish was good, very fresh and well steamed. The meatball was delicious in the brown sauce. Ate at Jiang Nan Spring yesterday to celebrate a friend's birthday, and we were extremely impressed by this restaurant! We came in with a large party, and we were seated right away. Service was fast, and all serving staff were incredibly kind. We ordered a large array of food to share family style - too many dishes for me to remember off the top of my head! Our favorites included: sautéed green beans with pork (by far my favorite -- SO good!), orange chicken (perfect crunch and vibrant flavor), pickled mustard greens (delicious flavor and super refreshing), and the Sichuan eggplant (perfect texture and flavor). The price seemed extremely fair given the quality and quantity of food. Absolutely delicious, and a great experience overall! We will return!!! read more

This restaurant caught my attention with its banner of being recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand discovery. I ordered the food for pick up since this place is conveniently a mile away from me. Price point: On the higher side. Worth it? Absolutely not. I felt duped. The seaweed fried fish was bland. The batter was okay. I applaud that the fish was moist. The Shanghai chow mein had very muted flavors. It just tasted of soy sauce. The $20 bamboo shoot soup with pork tasted like a very tasteless veggie broth. The Shanghai baby ribs were the most flavorful entree. Unfortunately, they were tiny pieces of fried ribs (mostly bone with a sliver of meat and a lot of breading). Overly inflated prices for one of the most disappointing food. There are a plethora of restaurants in the SGV with way better food. Apparently, there was a change in ownership and perhaps that led to this disappointment. I doubt it would taste better if I had dined there. This was a hard pass. read more

I had heard of this place because my friends had brought the seaweed flavored fish to a get together. It was so good so I wanted to get it again and also try a few other things. We ordered an order for take out and I placed a phone order and then went to pick it up. Unfortunately when we got home, we got an order of rice instead of the Shanghai baby ribs. So when we called to notify them about this error. They said that they could credit us the next time, we came in. But we didn't like this offer since we weren't sure when is the next we would go here. So instead, we just had them make the order and we went back to pick it up. It was a little disappointing to have this error. And when we got there to pick up our order of Shanghai baby ribs, they just handed us the container. And it wasn't even in the same type of container that the rice was in. Nor did they even offer a small free item for the inconvenience of this error. It just would be a nice gesture since they made this error. We ordered the Shanghai baby ribs, green beans with ground pork, seaweed flavored fish and the three ingredient crispy noodles. The seaweed flavored fish was probably best thing we had. The green beans were ok, kind of bland. The Shanghai baby ribs tasted like Peking pork chops but less flavorful. The noodles were also ok. The gravy was good but the noodles were a little hard to break apart and this could be since it sit a little bit since we had to go back.
