Green Pepper Stir Fried Pork Ribs $18.99
    Ashley Y.

My first time having Hunan food and I liked it! Ordered togo and had a great time. It's bold, spicy, flavorful and goes soooo well with rice. NOTE you do need to order rice separately!!! Hunan stir fried beef ($21.99)-- Probably the most basic thing we ordered? It's sliced beef with the Hunan flavor profile. I wouldn't say the beef was super tender or anything but the flavor was good so that makes up for it! Lots of celery though that we just kind of ate around. Pork intestines with duck blood ($16.99)-- Not an intestine fan but THE DUCK BLOOD IS SO GOOD!!! It soaks up the flavor so well and has that jelly texture that you either love or hate. Green pepper stir fry pork ribs ($18.99)-- AGAIN THE FLAVOR IS IMMACULATE!! This one uses green chili and it's the kind of spicy that is completely edible. Perfect topping for rice!! The ribs themselves were hit or miss some were fall apart tender and some were tough. As a whole, looooove the flavor. Wish the meat was more tender but that's all. Warning though, as a whole everything is rather heavily seasoned and oily. But that's just kind of how it is so make your peace and enjoy!!

Picky Hunan is a new restaurant located on Valley Blvd near New Ave in Alhambra. After bowling at Alhambra Valley Bowl, I decided to check this place out. You may enter into the restaurant from inside and outside the bowling alley. Free parking is available. Ambiance is comfy and cozy with good amount of inside seating. Staff was super friendly and patient. My eldest daughter and I did take-out, but we'll do dine-in next time. Menu has unique and interesting variety of dishes that I'm not used to seeing at other restaurants. Perhaps they are very specific to the Hunan cuisine. We ended up getting one Stir-Fried Quail Eggs and one Braised Bean Curd Sticks in Broth. Wait time wasn't too long. Quail eggs were stuffed in fried tofu. I was surprised with its presentation. It was a different take on the standard quail eggs. It had very robust flavor and taste overall. Decent dish to try for your first time. Braised bean curd skin sticks was the best! Tons and tons of bean curd sticks with great portions of thin and juicy pork slices. YUM! Broth was light with a hint of saltiness. I would definitely get this dish again. Both dishes above were in huge portions which I love. Prices were fair for the size. Can't wait to come back and try their other speciality dishes.

Every dish hit all the right notes for my taste buds. That authentic wok hei -- the smoky "breath of the wok" flavor -- is honestly so hard to find overseas. We ordered the Steamed Fish Head with Chopped Chili, and I noticed almost every table had one too. The fish was incredibly tender and meaty, and the savory chopped chili flavor soaked perfectly into every bite. Spicy, fresh, and deeply flavorful -- definitely one of the highlights of the meal.

This is one of the newly open Hunan cuisine in the valley. The dry pot bullfrog with perilla is a must order dish. I love the stinky tofu and we all love it. The spicy chicken goblet was also really good. The service was great and we enjoyed dinning in. The restaurant was clean too.

After eating, I felt that their food was very authentic, cheap and delicious. It was really great and definitely worth a visit! Moreover, the prices were very reasonable. I ordered five dishes for less than 100 dollar. And the portions were not small at all. Highly recommended the"hunan spicy stir-fried pork". There's a generous amount of meat. The cooking is just right, and the meat is very tasty and not greasy at all. My favorite dish is "spicy chicken giblets". If you love sour and spicy flavor, you must try this. It's super delicious when mixed with rice. It's not oily at all and very dry and crispy. I love it! The "signature chopped chili fish head", "Liuyang-style steamed pork ribs", and "spicy stir-fried pork kidney & tripe" are also pretty good

Had dinner at Diao Zui Ba in Alhambra and it was such a satisfying experience. The signature chopped chili fish head was incredibly tender and flavorful, definitely worth the wait. We also loved the spicy shrimp with perilla and the stir-fried golden eggs--super fragrant with great wok hei. Portions were generous and perfect for sharing with friends. The restaurant feels very authentic, like being back in Changsha. If you enjoy bold Hunan flavors, this place is a must-try. I'll definitely come back again!

One of the most authentic hunan cuisine in Alhambra! Their spicy is very good, the must order is the fish head! The fish head meat is very sweet and smooth texture! Very fresh. Their location is very convenient for days after dinner can go bowling!

Today is our third time here. Everything that we have ordered so far are very good. They can also dial up or down the level of spiciness. Amazing Hunan Cuisine! @刁嘴巴Picky Hunan

Amazing food, excellent service, and a very new and clean interior. We ordered the fried rice, whole snapper, and beer duck and everything was incredible

Diao Zui Ba (刁嘴巴) is absolutely delicious! When they first opened back in February, I knew this place was going to be a hit. I didn't expect that coming back just three months later, people would already be taking numbers and lining up even on a weekday evening! This time, I didn't order a single dish myself--my friends just ordered what they wanted to try, which worked out perfectly since I wanted to taste some things I hadn't had before. I couldn't believe how amazing everything was! The absolute standout for me this time was the stir-fried vermicelli with sauerkraut (酸菜炒粉条)--it was incredible! I highly recommend this dish!!! The service is still excellent. The restaurant's layout is a bit awkward, but they've arranged the seating very reasonably. Five-star recommendation!

Right across the street from SG Molly tea, this place immediately catches your eye with its thoughtful decor--the Hunan cuisine vibe is absolutely on point. * **Fiery Double Crunch** Stir-fried pork kidneys are tender and crisp, paired with spicy, crunchy beef aorta--an amazing dish to go with rice! * **Signature Dish: "Dried Radish with Cured Pork"** A must-order. You can't go wrong with this--rich aroma and full of that irresistible wok hei! * **Rice Tofu** Sells out super fast... and I missed it again and again! It's just that popular. * **Spicy Black Bean Steamed Ribs** A comforting homestyle dish with balanced flavors--perfect for all ages.

Came here recently after hearing a lot about it, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Everything we ordered had that strong wok flavor and was super satisfying with rice. The smashed eggplant with century egg was sooo good--rich, saucy, and really addictive. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the pork liver was a surprise favorite (no gamey taste at all, cooked perfectly). Even the cabbage had amazing flavor. Service was friendly, ordering is easy with QR code, and the space is clean and comfortable. This is one of those spots I'd happily bring friends back to when I'm craving spicy, comforting food.

Tao just happens to be a part of that moment.  We got last minute reservations here, rearranged the time slot, ordered drinks while we waited for a table to be ready and set. I've been here multiple times with an attire of dressing up, dressing down and in between. I would prefer to dress up for this restaurant setting. So please be mindful if planning to visit and put on your look and feel your best fit. Tao is an intimate dim lighted setting with an exotic interior approach. I would suggest dining here for an intimate date, womanly dinner or a treat yourself at night. You may also find some interesting folks here.  I ordered espresso martinis and proseccos while present. Nothing extraordinary here...just some drinks for the occasion and to sip on. For our plates, we ordered the lobster fried rice and the crispy snapper in "Sand" dish. The presentation of the snapper and taste was worthy. Apparently, the crunchy crispy part of the fish tasted like chicharron lol (the way the word was presented was so cute). But hey chicharron can also be prepared with fish honestly. Digital shout out to the chefs for the glorious look of the plate. I was impressed. Our server was busy but yet attentive and sweet. She also treated us with a dessert as we were celebrating a birthday ahha :)  Of course, I will be back. I'm curious to try some more menu items and fill my intimate cup here.

They were not hard at all...and perfectly crisped! -Thai Steak Salad: 5/5 the steak MELTS in your mouth and was not chewy at all. I'm not sure how they were able to make the steak so soft and delicious. -Crying Tiger Lambchops: 5/5 I'm not a fan of lamb, but these lamb chop were deliciouso!! The sauced up lettuce side that it came with, complimented the lamb really well. -Nasi Goreng w/ Wagyu Ribeye Cap: 4/5 This Indonesian fried rice was good, but the Wagyu meat kind of tasted a bit odd, but maybe that's just me because my bf loved it. -Singaporean Chili Lobster: 3.5/5 I wasn't really a fan of this since the based flavor had such a strong tomato/ketchup taste... When I made the reservation, I politely requested if there was a way for them to make the bday celebration special, and I'm glad I wrote that because at the end of our meal, our server brought out a Pandan Crème Brulee: 5/5 !!! I am going to start with this is a must go place! 10000000% a hidden gem you won't forget anytime…read moresoon. We started with the pan-fried pork buns, shumai, crystal shrimp dumplings, xiao long bao, and cartoon sweet custard buns. Everything is made from scratch in their kitchen, which got us excited right away--so many places just steam frozen items and the freshness just isn't there. There's a big window into the kitchen so you can actually watch the chefs making each item specifically for you. The decor inside is trendy and really adds to the experience. There are flowers on the wall that are actually sewn with thread creating designs--unlike anything I've seen before. The seating is all in great shape and not neglected at all. Each table is stocked with soy sauce, black vinegar, chili sauce, and garlic. The staff is friendly and attentive. There's a giant projector screen that comes down along the wall with a projector and LED lighting throughout. I asked and they said they can do karaoke, and they also played World Cup games on it. There are several TVs playing various sports as well. Pan-fried pork buns - 10/10 This was my first time ever having them pan-fried and I'm glad I listened to the waiter's suggestion. The dipping sauce elevated the dish and brought it full circle. Being pan-fried gave them a slight crisp that was perfect. Shumai - 10/10 Just delicious. Crystal shrimp dumplings - 10/10 These were made fresh. I've had these at other dim sum places and it's been hit or miss--sometimes soggy, sometimes the wrapper is hard. That wasn't the case here at all. Perfection wrapped around shrimp. Xiao long bao - 10/10 I've had dumplings at places like Din Tai Fung, and I honestly believe these are better. The broth inside was bursting with flavor and the exterior was fresh and made perfectly. I'll be dreaming of these. Cartoon sweet custard buns - 9/10 These were delicious and so cute. The only thing I would have changed is giving the inside a bit more custard (personal preference--some people might think the balance is perfect). The rest of the bao was cooked perfectly, so soft, and the design made the experience that much more memorable. I highly recommend eating here. This is going to be one of our regular spots from now on.
