    Orange chicken was weird
    Hanna R.

I came here for dinner, the restaurant is not very big, but we were able to get seated right away. Everything came out in a decent amount of time except for the chicken feet. Portion size depended on the dish. The honey walnut shrimp was definitely on the smaller side while the orange chicken had a lot, but it was more like thin crispy chicken strips which I have never had this kind of orange chicken. Service was good. I might come back to try some other dishes since it is close by.

Came back for a big family pickup on Easter Sunday! Ordered two Calamari appetizers, fried fish, sesame balls, chow mein, one of my favorite dishes Walnut Shrimp! This is now in my top 2 Chinese places in the LB/Cerritos area. Everything is fresh, nice portions for sharing, and the host and server were courteous. We're going to have to eat in sometime, the dining area is well kept.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but I know this place exceeds expectations. I was simply looking for a place with calamari and found my next dinner spot when I want a cozy meal. The calamari was flavorful in a way that it didn't taste like squid covered in flour and fried. The calamari had a nice savory flavor to it and my tastebuds appreciated the kick. I also ordered the house special chow mein. Again, not sure what I was expecting, but this dish was something different. There was a generous serving of each protein and the soy sauce was not overdone. I had to stop and remind myself I wanted to save some for my work lunch. Side note- these entrees definitely reheat well. I would say the only drawback was that I had ordered for pick-up and the food came out a little later than the expected pick-up time. You can't rush a good meal.

Hadn't eaten Cantonese food in a while so had to hit up our favorite place in Artesia. This food was even better than we remember. We got a nice assortment of dishes that you'll see in this review.

Happy Bee Kitchen has become one of our go to places mainly because of the service. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and quick to help. They check in without hovering, and orders come out on time. It feels a lot more attentive than what we are used to at other Chinese restaurants, which makes each visit easy for our family. We usually order the French style beef with mushrooms, honey walnut shrimp, and the salt and pepper pork chop. The food is good and consistent, but the service is what keeps us coming back. Overall, it is a comfortable place with reliable food and great service. A solid spot for a family meal.

We have ordered takeout a coup of times and finally had a chance to eat here. The food is pretty good, price is reasonable, and the cozy store is comfortable. With 4 dishes for the 3 of us, we liked pretty much everything we ordered and we had plenty to take home! The French style beef fillet, the meat was very tender, it was tasty and goes well with rice. When we ordered over of the vegetables, the server recommended something else more fresh, we appreciated that. We ended up ordering the Stirred fried Sprouts and it was excellent. We also ordered the Seafood with bean curds in clay pot, it was delicious with many kinds of seafood, the only thing is the clay pot was smaller other dishes. The only one that would probably not order again was House Special Squid. The dish was tasty with generous portions, the squids were fried and have the House sauce on top, generally, we prefer either non-fried, or fried without sauce on top as sauces makes the fried stuff less crunchy. Overall, it was a tasty dish but just not how we preferred. I think this may become one of our go to places!

One of my go-to restaurants when it comes to Chinese food. I love their pan fried crispy noodles which I crave often and ordered to-go through DoorDash. Other favorites are honey walnut shrimp, orange chicken, house special fish fillet, and french style beef fillet. The beef dish has so much flavor, and comes with tons of onions and mushrooms. Their orange chicken isn't in big chunks like other places, rather they're thinner and softer but still crispy. When I crave fish, I get their house special fish fillet which also has a nice crisp and saltiness. Service has always been friendly, and they even pack your leftovers themselves. They have lunch specials as well, so recommend coming by for lunch. Plenty of parking in a shared plaza.

Came by for lunch with my parents the other day, and my mom absolutely loves this spot. It's definitely one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area, especially for the price. The food was delicious--highly recommend the honey walnut shrimp and the shredded pork with bean curd. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and they even give dried peanuts! Will definitely be coming back.

I've been going to Happy Bee for many years and have always enjoyed my meals. The food is delicious and comforting. The staff is also very friendly and it's a nice family owned restaurant. It is very clean. My favorites are the house special crispy noodles, green beans, and the fried lobster. They have a great lunch special during the weekdays, which also includes a lunch special lobster deal.

Always a good experience at Happy Bee. Portions are good and flavors are always spot on. We almost always order the same items every time.

Was craving Chinese but didn't want to drive to the SGV. Food was pretty good! Service was quick upon arrival. Was surprised they had a table open for our family of 7! The salt and pepper pork chops, fried rice, and Mongolian beef was delicious. Will definitely be back!

There are many Chinese restaurants around here, but since I discovered this place, I've only ever come here because it's so delicious. Most of the customers are Chinese, which means the food is authentic.

Came here a 2nd time. A way better experience than my first time. The food was amazing, the staff were nice and the food came out pretty fast. It didn't look too busy as the last time I went, which was actually pleasant. It was nice and peaceful.

Today we came for lunch to celebrate a birthday. The size of this location is so great for groups! I will always appreciate the easy parking too. We all LOVED everything we ordered: Pork & shrimp dumplings w/crispy skirt - made fresh, chewy, meaty, yum! Salmon belly fresh rolls w/tamarind sauce - we always have to get at least 2 orders bc these are so good! Pomelo salad - the freshness of this light salad is amazing. Pomelo chunks, shrimp, red onion, crispy shallots, mint, carrot, bean sprouts, lettuce, a light dressing & crispy shrimp chips makes this one of the most perfect dishes! Garlic noodles w/shrimp - another one of the best dishes on the menu - fat shrimp, garlicky umami-rich noodles. So good! Shrimp skewers - head & tail on, super garlicky, super fresh shrimp! Sizzling filet mignon - the most tender chunks of beef, in a delicious sauce with bell peppers, onions, tomato & cucumber. Served with steamed rice & a dipping sauce that I wanted to pour on the rice & just eat that alone. Just writing this makes me wish I had leftovers to snack on right about now. But everything was so good, we ate it all. No leftovers for me, so I'll be back again very soon!

There's quite a few things on the menu, including some all-day specials. However, heard the better dishes are not from that menu, so opted for some appetizers and an entree. Ordered the salmon belly spring rolls and pork spring rolls. We also ordered the pork clay pot. Spring rolls came first - they were both well made and tasty. The sauces match great with them. I preferred the salmon belly spring roll but that's all relative - both were good. The clay pot dish came shortly afterwards. The rice was nice and crispy from the rice pot and went well with the pork belly pieces in the other pot. The sauce was on point - was worried it would be salty, but wasn't. Price point was decent. Would come back and try out a few other dishes next time around.

Plenty of seating but the waiting area was pretty impacted that others had to wait outside. We were able to try the moo tod nam pla (crispy pork belly), pad thai, super crab fried rice, and this hot pot with noodles. We thought the hot pot with noodles would come as a soup, but was surprised to see it was like pancit (a Filipino noodle dish)-- tasted like it too and was pretty simple. The other times I've come here, I have been able to try the khao soi (yellow curry broth with egg noodles) and the kapow (chili garlic dish with protein of choice). I still think those two dishes reign out as my favorite at this restaurant. It was a plus though that they gave free thai tea to mothers in celebration of the holiday-- only a few restaurants do that so 1 extra star for that!

That excitement slowly dwindled as the wait continued, I still waited about 10 mins after tables cleared up. The service was lack luster and immensely slow, I didn't get checked up on once throughout my meal, I was given one napkin even though there were two of us dining, and it took a very long time to finally get the check. As far as the food goes I will say the food was quite good. Though I do have some critics this may just be more or personal taste. The Roti & Curry (Yellow curry) was quite delicious but the Roti was very oily to where a bite felt like putting a teaspoon of oil in my mouth. The curry was a little too strong and sharp in flavor where it was confusing to know if I loved it or hated it. The Thai Tea was phenomenal probably one of the best I've had and I highly recommend it, super flavorful and perfect level of sweetness. The Drunken noodles were good but they were dry, I was expecting some drunk noodles not sober ones. Overall this is just your average Thai restaurant, the food wasn't bad, but the service was definitely the most frustrating part.

Mother's Day lunch at Halo Haus Buena Park with almost a 2-hour wait for the food…read more I was excited to check this spot out and going here for lunch with my mom for Mother's Day marked the perfect occasion. I drove all the way from the South Bay to go visit. We arrived around 11:15 a.m., 15 minutes after opening, and there were only 3 other orders ahead of us. All ordering is done through their kiosk. I noticed a sign that said all credit card transactions have a 3% fee. There was also another sign that they accept cash but only $20 bills. I asked to pay in cash to avoid the 3% fee but the employee there said they had just opened and so the register wasn't ready yet. Luckily, I had my debit card via Apple Pay and ended up using that instead. We chose to order the Miki Bihon ($17.95), Crispy Pata ($17.95) , Chop Suey with Chicken ($16.95) and a small scoop of rice ($1.75). I had originally planned to get the Wonton Soup but that was no longer on the menu. Similarly, many other dishes, including all their beef dishes were also unavailable. Our order was placed at 11:24 a.m., and was surprised that we didn't receive our food till about 12:15pm. I noticed there were other tables getting a bit impatient while waiting for their orders as well, but since it was Mother's Day, I figured that that items like Crispy Pata would naturally take longer. At first, I wasn't too frustrated with the 45 minute wait. When our orders came out, I was pleasantly surprised with the large portions of the Miki Bihon and Chop Suey. Tastewise, the Miki Bihon was flavorful, comforting and satisfying. The combination of soft egg noodles and thin rice noodles gave the dish a nice texture. The Chop Suey had a good mix of vegetables, but overall it lacked flavor and tasted a bit bland. It had a decent texture but the seasoning just wasn't there. The Crispy Pata was one of the dishes we came for and were looking forward to having this Mother's Day. It had a nice crisp on the outside, but unfortunately it seemed overcooked, and some parts were tough. Since we experience a bit of a wait for the savory items, my mom advised me to place our dessert order early. I ordered a small Supreme Halo Halo ($6.95). I had originally been eyeing the Mango Graham Halo Halo but similar to how many of the savory dishes were unavailable, this item was also not available. They also only had vanilla ice cream and no ube, unlike what is shown in their menu photos. My order went in at 12:29 p.m., and considering it was just a small halo halo, I did not expect a long wait. I was a bit shocked when it was 1:15 p.m. and my halo halo had not come out yet. I went up to the employee at the counter to inquire about it. She asked for my order number and name, then handed me a receipt. After that, I watched her go into the kitchen and only then started making the halo halo. When she finished and handed me the order, I asked why it took so long, and she mentioned something about how the receipt possibly not coming out of the system. I found this strange and honestly a bit frustrating. If I had not followed up, we likely would have continued to wait for a halo halo that would never have been made due to "receipt not coming through." She even asked if I had taken the receipt, which did not make sense. After the initial 45 minute wait for the savory dishes, another 45 minute wait for dessert felt a bit excessive. Overall, it was a good lunch, but that wait tested us. It was worth it for time with my mom though. I would best describe the visit here as "the good, the bad and the ugly." The good is the portion sizes and the pricing. The bad is that many menu items are not available. The ugly is the wait time. Waiting nearly 2 hours for all the food (45 minutes for the savory dishes and another 45 minutes for the halo halo) is simply too long. The biggest improvement would be their service and wait times.
