So sad this place is gone. Now it's some tacky, low energy restaurant. Really sad!!! The new place had dull vibes walking in, felt like a cafeteria with mismatched plastic water bottles and pre-packaged lassi...it felt like a knock off Yantra...clearly riding off the prestige on Google and Yelp! Most importantly the menu and people trying to wait on us had next to nil for people skills. Even after pointing out what I wanted they still selected the wrong things... Wife and I spent about a year visiting artesia to get wedding garments for us and our respective wedding parties...and this was always our first stop! Shout out to the Yantra owner, Raj, and the hostess who always worked with Raj! Again, so sad to see it go...after becoming regulars... read more

Had a late lunch with a party of 4 and 2 dogs. We were able to sit outside as we were the only customers there. The server was friendly and fast and listed the house specials and lunch specials. We decided to order the chaat, tikka masala, kashmiri kofta and garlic naan. Each dish was tasty and not hot (ordered mild). The chaat was a new dish that I tried which had crispy balls in a cold yogurt sauce. Was interesting and unexpected but not sure I'd order it again. Overall decent restaurant for a quick lunch. read more

Good quality food but higher prices and small portions. We came on a Tues afternoon around 2 and we were the only ones in the restaurant. They have a parking lot in back which was nice. They have mostly indoor seating but they have a small outdoor patio that is dog friendly. We got the chaat, tikka masala, kashmiri kofta and garlic naan. I feel like everywhere does chaat a little differently but this was just alright for me. It was the little fried dough balls drenched in a sweet yogurt sauce. A little one note in texture and a bit sweet for me. Tikka was good but standard. Chicken was very tender. Kashmiri kofta was good and the dumplings were a nice size. A ricb, flavorful sauce. Garlic naan was good. Bread was very soft. While naan was extra I did like that they include a bowl of rice with the entrees. Service was friendly and fast. read more

Some of the best Indian food I have ever had here in Little India. Ordered the chicken tikka masala at the spiciest level and a side of malai naan. It was on the pricier side but oh boy, the quality of both of these items was out of this world. The cheese naan was incredible and its pairing with the spicy tikka masala was immaculate. Also, though it was quite spicy, it was a bearable level of spice, at least for me. If you aren't used to eating spicy food though, I would be careful. The portion of the tikka masala seemed quite small at first but I found that it was just enough to satiate my appetite. Also the fact that it's a meal on the heavier side helped balance it out, I was left feeling like I didn't need to eat for the rest of the day haha. Would love to come back and eat here. Money well spent. read more

What an experience. First time trying Indian food and the recommendations we got were 10/10. Where do I begin? RJ was absolutely amazing and recommended what we ate and we went for it. The music Playing was also very pleasant and had a good vibe. I'm not sure if the gentleman that came out as we ate was the Chef or owner, but he asked if everything was okay. He was so Nice and welcoming. We got mild spicy chicken and lamb plates. Omg it was absolutely delicious. The Garlic bread, likewhoa. That bread was so gooooood. We ordered some to go as well. Thank you for an awesome Food experience. We'll be back soon to try more dishes. 10/10 for sure. Thank You RJ for all you did for us today. read more

Good date spot for authentic tasting Indian food. There was parking in the back, went on a Sunday around 3:30 and there wasn't many people there. The place looked very nice and clean and greeted through the door (Sandhya), seated immediately. We ordered drinks, (3ea) Chardonnay for the wife and (3ea) Taj Mahal beer for myself, the beer was really good, refreshing. We had the: o Chicken Makhni (butter chicken) - Tender and juicy, the sauce was so good, had to soak it all up with the naan bread. o Garlic naan - Soft, warm and fresh doughy taste, looked right out of the brick oven. o Samosas - fried pillow of dough with meat and veggies, little kick. oCrispy cauliflower - lightly battered and fried, sweet sauce soft and juicy in the middle. o Trio of chicken tikka - Colorful to taste a bit of variety chicken flavors that they had, interesting flavors. I think that last one was the least of my favorites for the order, it was good, but just too much with for what we had ordered already. The waiter Raj was very attentive, and had good feedback on the dishes when asked about them. We ended up staying over an hour and having more drinks because the environment was cool and calm. A wonderful date and dinner for $150 bucks, cant go wrong. We will for sure be going back for more when we get the urge for Indian food. We went 6/1/2025, the following week was craving it again, but life happened. Hopefully we can get back there again soon, appreciate the hospitality Raj! read more

"Eat Good Indian Food. Eat Good Indian Food. Eat Good Indian Food." That's my mantra eating at Yantra. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA&select=480CeKJH75hkhYNHg2mctQ Yantra Kitchen is a trendy, modern Indian restaurant, specializing in Punjabi cuisine. When I noticed Yantra's Lunch Specials, it gave the impetus to stop by and give them a try. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA&start=48&select=WADewNaEmXTzcFsVTzRFIQ Papdi Chaat- https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA&start=0&select=qk7veTSPmnOpX3gFgQZKUQ Yantra's Papdi Chaat is one of their signature dishes, and I really enjoyed it. The chilled yogurt makes this dual purpose - as an appetizer or as dessert. The varying textures provided contrast with each bite. A bit sweet for my taste, but otherwise a charming way to start/end a meal. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA&start=0&select=NRhLFnuagCZ6fUfKln8mZA Lamb Curry https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA&start=0&select=zNzo2Zpk59eIP-VxAs_q1g Upon digging into the Lamb Curry, I developed a coughing fit. Why? Yantra's curry was more pungent, rich, and assertive than what I was expecting. Which is a good thing! A sip of water, and I went back into devouring this delicious plate of tender lamb. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA&start=0&select=VRvgy_GGihhqsdypr4vDHQ Service was good. The chef's son was attending to customers, and he was prompt & hospitable. Ample seating, inside & al fresco, the music playlist is quite good. Parking is via metered street parking in front, with a paid lot in the back. Yantra Kitchen also has a Chat Cart, selling enticing Indian street snacks. A tad pricier than other Indian eateries, Yantra Kitchen serves delicious food in a more upscale, yet homey environment. Their Lunch Specials are a great value to experience their menu, and I'm looking forward to coming back to exploring the rest of their entrees. Highly recommend! read more

Flavor Party in Little India, Artesia! If you're cruising through Artesia, you have to stop by Yantra. It's clean, cozy, and the food is a total vibe. We kicked things off with the Trio of Chicken Tikka. It's the perfect way to taste the "spectrum" of Indian flavors: * White: Creamy and mild. * Green: Fresh coriander zest. * Red: Classic bold spices. For the mains, the Chicken Makhni is a must-try. The tomato sauce is rich and perfectly seasoned. We paired it with Butter and Garlic Naan--super soft and the ultimate tool for scooping up every last drop of that sauce! Pro Tip: Come early to skip the line. It's the perfect spot to relax and fuel up. read more

This is a moderately fast casual Indian restaurant at the edge of Little India where there are seemingly an infinite number of places to choose from. Look no further. Parking is free in back down a rickshaw narrow alley. Good luck wedging the Duelly into a Compact Car Only space. While it feels like a fast casual spot it took a while to get the Crew up and running or at least trotting, but once everyone came to life Yantra was pleasantly efficient. You'll soon get used to the thumpin' loop and Dream Chaos and Ben Plum instead of the Bollywood version of Kars For Kids is manageable. The Decor is scant and has that dining in the Airport Terminal feel to it, but then you came for the good food and the convenience of being close to the Cerritos Performing Arts Center. So, settle in anywhere you like and study the menu. There will be questions. (Pass over the Pizza and Pasta, and stick to the Indian fare) The Staff: Now that you've jump started the Server and the Busser dinner just flows. The friendly, helpful, extended family is at your service. The Food: Surprisingly good. Everything is basically made to order. No 55 gallon drum of Chicken Tikka Masala on simmer and waiting for the ladle here. Let's begin with the Go Goa Coconut Curry which is an ample sample of how well this kitchen can bring it. Boneless, Skinless Chicken in a deep pool of Sauce made with Coconut Milk, Curry Leaves, Ground Spices (Cumin, Coriander, Mustard Seed and Asafaetida which is dried sap from the Ferula Plant tasting of Onion and Garlic). Pick a protein (Chicken, Lamb, Shrimp or a Fish if you wish or maybe a Vegetable instead to grace the Sauce). This dish comes with a mound of Plain White Basmati Rice which is always a good idea if you want it hot hot hot as in Molecular Acid eating through the bowl and the table. The Go Goa Sauce is rich, complex and addictive. I'm no wimp but the medium spice level had my eyebrows, hair, and toes sweating like a borrowed mule in a hurry from the curry. This dish easily made the Gotta Go Back and Have It Again List. So, right now, it's time for some soothing, cooling Raita (Greek Yogurt, Cucumber, Garam Masala) to plop on your almost gone Go Goa. Time to hail Mahi and ask for Garlic Naan to push things around with. Alas, the Naan fell flat. It happens. No puffy pillow to be split and stuffed with stuff. Just take this Naan, roll it up like the Tortilla it resembles, and blot up the nearest Sauce that's played hard to get even if it's on someone else's table. Making friends is nice. Yellow Dal Tadka (Lentils) was comforting comfort food. It did what Comfort Food is supposed to do. Remind you of languid nights at the small Formica kitchen table in your Dadi Aman's apartment eating like a Rajah. This bowl of Lentils was as warm and thick as your tongue on a cool first date. The Lentils maintained their Lentil integrity and the Sauce stood on it's own and was not merely a dip from the One Sauce Fits All Vat, which is the bane of many Indian restaurants. Shortly after you tucked into whatever you ordered the house sends out some Mango Pickles. Bitter, sweet, pungent, and hot. This condiment shows Pataks Lime Pickle bottled factory made version how it's done. The hostess swung by and set down a little bowl of Mango Chutney just because she was genuinely friendly, naturally nice and she thought I secretly wanted it. I did. It was Mango Marmalade, unabashedly sweet without being cloying, treacly, or overly sugary. It was just right, provided balance to the spicy food on the table, and was a perfect compliment to add to a spoon of Curry or Dal. Finally, the Baingar Bharta which were chunks of Smoked Eggplant, grilled directly over hot Charcoal and or Honey, let's get engaged close to the open flames on the stove top. Either way this dish was the highlight. A hint of Smoke and redolent of Eggplant. No chewy skin to deal with made this dish pure Eggplant magic. So, "I'm Goa'n back to Yantra" is my mantra. read more

A group of us came here for lunch on a Saturday, & it was not busy. Hubby & I had Garlic Naan, Samosa, Chicken Biryani & Shrimp Tikka Masala. Everything was fresh & delicious. Portion was generous, & the shrimps were huge. The flavor was not overwhelming like some Indian restaurants. The Mango Lassi was perfectly sweet. Everyone really enjoyed their food, & we had leftover from our entrees. Service was friendly & attentive. The server/owner proactively disclosed their popular dishes & made recommendations. My only complaint is that they wouldn't offer a bowl of rice to each diner. We had to share & finish before more rice was provided. Parking is available in the back. read more

So let me set the scene: a Friday night in Artesia, a group of 7 hungry humans with high expectations and even higher cravings for Indian food. We made a reservation thinking it would be packed like a Bollywood dance floor--but to our surprise, the place was mellow and chill. Now to the important part: THE FOOD. I swear, the appetizers alone could start international conflicts. That Chicken Tandoori? Juicy, smoky, flavorful--basically how I imagine a Michelin-starred campfire would taste. The Tikka Masala Poutine? A glorious, slightly chaotic marriage of Indian and Canadian cuisine. Not the best for sharing unless you like playing emotional tug-of-war with your friends. The Shrimp Biryani and Lamb Biryani both deserve their own national holidays. Fragrant, spiced to perfection, and served like they know they're royalty. We also tried the Butter Chicken, Lamb Curry, and Fish Curry--and honestly, not one weak link in the lineup. Yantra is basically the Avengers of Indian food. They've also got a drink menu that could make a sommelier blush--everything from wine and beer to creamy, dreamy lassis that'll make you rethink your life choices up until this point. Long story short: Yantra is now officially in my Top Tier Artesia Eats™ list. If you're not already in love with Indian food, this place will convert you faster than you can say "extra naan, please. read more

There's plenty of parking in the back, making it a hassle-free spot to visit. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the rich, inviting aroma of Indian spices, setting the tone for a truly authentic dining experience. The interior is bright, open, and impeccably clean, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, answering all our questions with patience and warmth. We came as a group of friends, ready to indulge in a feast, and the food did not disappoint. Here's what we ordered: Tandoori Prawns: Absolutely delicious--unlike anything I've tried before. Papadi Chaat: A must-have classic! The flavors exploded in my mouth--sweet, spicy, tangy--with a perfect balance of crunchy textures. Pakodas: How could we resist? These vegetable fritters were perfectly crispy, paired with chutney and tamarind sauce that complemented them beautifully. Schezwan Stir-Fry Paneer: A surprising combination for me, but it was delightfully flavorful and satisfying. For the main course, we shared three curries along with naan and rice. The rice was served complimentary--a generous and thoughtful gesture that reflected true Indian hospitality. Baigan Bharta: This eggplant curry was incredibly rich and delicious, with deep, smoky flavors. Lamb Curry: The lamb was tender and perfectly cooked, without any gaminess. The curry itself was flavorful and balanced. Chicken Makhani: Creamy, indulgent, and delicious. The chicken was tender, and the curry was smooth and comforting. Though they have a bar, we opted for mango lassi instead, which was creamy and had the perfect mango flavor. As someone who knows Indian food intimately--having grown up eating it, cooking it, and visiting India often--I was thoroughly impressed. The flavors were authentic, bold, and reminiscent of home-cooked meals. Importantly, the food wasn't overly spicy in heat but was rich with layers of complex spices. I strongly advise anyone visiting to avoid adjusting the spice levels, as doing so can take away from the essence of Indian cuisine. We also did try the cheese naan, pairs well with all the curry. This place truly felt like a slice of home for me, and I can't wait to come back to explore more of the menu. Highly recommend! read more

Yantra hits our cravings every single time, there are so many yummy restaurants in Artesia and I definitely recommend stopping by here. We started with chai which tastes like my mom's and my husband got the mango lassi. The mango lassi is definitely less traditional because they add strawberry syrup and sprinkles, so may not hit the craving. The dahi puri is delicious and very flavorful. My husband and in-laws got the trio flavored chicken and they love the malai and tandoor one the best. They say the chicken is always cooked to perfection. As a vegetarian, there are so many delicious options. We got the kofta, paneer bhuna and chicken tikka masala. The paneer is always so flavorful and the kofta is cooked to perfection. My fam loves the chicken tikka. There are so many other items that I want to try at the next visit! Definitely worth checking out for your next Artesia foodventure! read more

This is a delicious, authentic Indian restaurant, located in Artesia, CA...Little India. I visited this restaurant with friends who were visiting from India. The Mango Lassi is a delicious yogurt beverage. As Indian food can be quite spicy, the yogurt helps to take some of the heat away. At my friend's suggestion, I ordered the Butter Paneer Masala. This is a chicken dish, in a creamy tomato sauce, served over white rice. It too was very good! Portions are generous to share or take home for lunch tomorrow. The staff were excellent. The service was okay, but slow. We were sitting outside, so, they could have cleaned the table a bit. The drinks were all $6, and there were no free refills, but they should have mentioned it beforehand, instead of letting customers notice when we get the receipt. Other than that the food was pretty good and presentable. Got the garlic naan, which is light and soft, not too crispy. There was hot Samosa, with green chili sauce and tamarind sauce. It tasted similar to empanadas. The Delhi 6 Curry with lamb and rice, tasted flavorful as well. Was celebrating a family birthday and the first of honor wanted Indian food. My first thought was Pioneer Blvd in Artesia, which is home to lots of options. Online reservations are only up to 6 people, so I called to reserve my larger group. Easy enough. Parking is plentiful, but if you want to avoid the paid lots (it's cheap though), you may have to drive around. Got a few appetizers: Chicken kebab - flavorful and juicy Samosa - piping hot and delicious Giant prawns - Nicely marinated and although large, not giant imo Main dishes: Chicken Tikka Masala Butter Paneer Masala Delhi 6 Curry Chicken Magnum Lamb Chop Ravioli Best Memory (house Korma) with lamb I can't speak to all of the main dishes for the other guests, but I did try the Chicken Magnum, Delhi 6 Curry and Best Memory, and none of it was particularly memorable. Not bad, but really nothing special. Flavor was okay (we all ordered mild). Prices are a little high compared with some other spots in the area, but I guess it's newer and more of a fusion vibe. But the strangest thing was that a couple weeks after the visit, I received a text saying "Yantra Kitchen: hope you enjoyed your food ps we don't get tips. :) come again eat good and don't leave anything cause we don't know where it goes!" I'm seeing a couple of reviews mentioning something similar. No idea if they're disgruntled employees messing with the system or if there's truth to the claim. Since we had a large party, they added 18% tip. I don't have a problem with that kind of tip, but am concerned whether the tips go to the wait staff. read more

I don't write reviews that often, something has to be really good for me to do so, and Yantra kitchen is so good it motivated me to write this! We ordered the Amritsari Chole, Aloo Gobi, and garlic naan. The dishes came with white basmati rice. First let me tell you about the rice: the rice tasted amazing, nice and fresh and fluffy. No old, rubbery, dried out rice here like I've had at some other places. I really appreciate that. You'd be surprised at how many establishments serve you bad rice. It totally ruins the meal, and I usually just push it to the side without eating it, and never take it home if I have leftovers. Here, I took the leftover rice home! The Aloo Gobi and Armitsari Chole had beautifully spiced flavors. So delicate, savory and delicious! The garlic naan was warm and buttery and garlicky. I was really full but wished I could have eaten more because it was so good! We'll definitely be back! read more

Yantra Kitchen is a very good Indian fusion restaurant located in the heart of Little India. What they offer is a really wide selection of food based in the cuisine of India. What's different about this restaurant, compared to many of the other restaurants in the area, is that they really put just enough of a twist on their dishes that they really become very interesting. The interior of this restaurant is very nicely designed. You can tell that when they took over the space they really did and very nice redesign. The overall area is open, airy, and the tables are well spaced apart. They also have a nice outdoor dining space. So, you have your choice. The one thing I will say is that you really need to be strong about telling the hostess where you want to sit. For example, on my most recent visit to this restaurant, we walked in, and we were the first people there. We were given a table and that was fine. The problem was, the next people that came in the hostess sat them right next to us. So, for a long time, all we could hear was their loud conversation going on just a foot or so away from us. As the restaurant filled up, as the day went on, this became not quite such a problem. But, I believe that they should really teach their staff that it's really the best idea to separate customers when they come in and the restaurant has not yet filled up. This is just something to keep in mind, because I'm sure they're happy to seat you at any table that is open if you ask for a specific location. Overall, I really enjoy this restaurant. The food is very well prepared with very good ingredients. There's a lot of variety you can choose from. And, it's a fun place to eat. read more

Update 11/10/23 I received a message letting me know that the staff wasn't being given their tips. If you go, be sure to bring cash -- even if only to tip the staff! Not sure if this is a real claim, but if so, not sure why the owner would find this acceptable. It wont make your people respect or work hard for you. read more

Incredible Indian fusion restaurant with wonderfully modern decor. I love the colored and clear glass blown art hanging from the ceiling. This is a perfect spot for date night, a large party, and everything in between. They serve all of the classic Indian dishes, along with some noddle plates, and even a papaya salad. I actually don't even like papaya, but this was amazing! Mixed with mango, cucumber, and arugula drizzled with a sweet chutney marinade. The butter naan was perfectly soft and flavorful, as were both of our dishes and the rice. The Aloo Gobi is a very filling meal that consists of potatoes, onions, and cauliflower mixed with Indian spices and seasonings. It's my favorite thing to get. All of the entrees include a single flower on top. It was a lovely finishing touch. Oh and the music playlist was electronica without any pauses. Like a DJ set. We loved it! We loved it all! I will be back soon with everyone I know. read more
