Nova was a pleasant surprise as we had no dinner plans made for our Disneyland vacation. Even before checking into our hotel (the Hyatt Regency conveniently located next to Nova), we saw the huge sign on the side of the building advertising their happy hour. We decided to give it a try on our first night. Everything from the staff friendliness to the ambiance to the taste of the food was exceptional! The specialty drinks were delicious, and the happy hour prices were more than reasonable. Everything was so good that we went back for a second happy hour in a row. The second visit was just as enjoyable, so much that we decided to visit on Sunday to check out their all you can eat brunch. The selections were amazing with a few exceptions. Some standouts were the ube pancakes, matcha French toast, Toro tartare toast, and garlic scallop fried rice. Some items on the menu left more to the imagination such as the spicy tuna crispy rice, which had no distinct flavor, and the fried oysters. Outside of those selections, the brunch options were amazing and worth the cost. Shout out to Ryan and Koda for the hospitality, and the bartenders that served us during happy hour. First of all, our server Ryan was absolutely amazing. Very kind and attentive. I've been here over 2 years ago and saw their social media post regarding their seafood buffet being brought back. However, the establishment overall needs a ton of work. I went to the seafood buffet on July 5th (they advertised they were bringing back the crab legs/sushi buffet just for today, for now). It was horrendous. No signs whatsoever by each dish, so that was a huge no-no in my perspective. People need to know what sauces and ingredients they are grabbing. From a food safety and sanitation POV, it failed epically. The sushi was just ok, but I wasn't expecting too notch stuff. Still pretty good. The crab legs and shrimp cocktail were decent. The hot foods were very mid, in exception to the fried rice. So out of their 20+ items, we only enjoyed 3-4 dishes. Overall, I wish they had a better buffet layout, options, and presentation. I've never been to a buffet that doesn't have any menu cards, so all the guests were just as confused as I was. "Is this Tabasco or cocktail sauce?" "Does this fried rice have pork?" Etc. AND they ran out of ginger at the sushi station by 1:30pm and no original Tabasco (just the green or smoky kind). This affected our seafood and sushi experience heavily. The restaurant itself is beautiful, classy, and has a great ambiance. The hosts and servers were all friendly and attentive. A special shoutout to our server for recommending the Father's Day special; otherwise, we probably would have spent much more! We ordered the tomahawk special with two additional steaks for $120, Floating Garlic Noodles, Sashimi Platter, Pork Belly Bao, Dragon Breath sushi roll, sinigang wings, and for dessert, the Matcha tiramisu and Chocolate Ganache Cake . This place is dangerous. I knew that eating here might cause a gout flare up. My wife had picked this place for Mother's Day brunch. I didn't have a choice. They had all the high purine foods possible for a flareup like crab, shrimp and prime rib. All favorites of mine. They had breakfast items like sausage, bacon and waffles. Being close to Disneyland I was worried about the parking, but they have a parking lot that they share with the Residence Inn that they validate so parking is easy. The ambiance is really nice and the staff is very friendly. They had a Father's Day special which included three steaks that was a very good deal. Unfortunately we asked for medium rare but they all came out medium well so the only steak that tasted good was the rib eye. I would recommend trying a steak as the flavors were good. It's very refreshing, the fish is clearly high quality, and it sets the tone for the meal perfectly. The chef grinding fresh wasabi tableside is a thoughtful touch that you don't see often and it genuinely elevates the experience. Speaking of which, the Bluefin Tuna pairs beautifully with it. It's not the best I've had, but it's still a solid bite. Freshwater Unagi is better than your average unagi. Flavorful and well seasoned. The Yellowtail Belly is lightly buttery and a very satisfying bite. The Sweet Shrimp has some roe on it, is slightly sweet, and feels a bit more substantial than the other pieces. The Toro With Caviar is a standout. Super smooth texture and incredible flavor. The Toro Handroll is also quite good, though it doesn't quite reach the heights of the toro cut itself. Mushroom Toast delivers amazing umami and I love that it comes as two pieces, making it a more substantial course. An excellent change of pace. Scallops With Uni is super tasty. The flavors of both hit you instantly and everything tastes incredibly fresh. The South Korean Halibut has a clean flavor profile, though it's slightly difficult to chew. The Sealed Salmon W/ Pico De Gallo is a fun and tasty bite. The pico is a creative addition. The Salmon With Fried Shallots And Truffle Oil is good too, though the truffle oil is a slight contrast against the salmon and shallots. Still enjoyable overall. For drinks, the Sunrise In Kyoto is dangerously good. Not overly sweet and you can barely taste the alcohol. Very easy to over-order. The Ooo La Lada is a rum cocktail that runs a little strong but is still tasty. On the dessert side, the Chocolate Ganache Cake is rich and oozy with very heavenly chocolate. The ice cream and chocolate crumble complement it wonderfully, and the fresh fruit adds a bright, bursting finish. The Green Tea Mochi is light and pleasant, though the flavor gets a bit lost after such a robust meal. Our server Calvin was exceptional. He was consistently on top of clearing plates and bowls, kept waters filled, and checked in regularly throughout the meal. He even brought moist towelettes right before I was about to ask for them. That's S+ service. I would only suggest that the chef wipe the serving stone between courses so the pictures turn out better haha. The ambiance is stunning. We asked for a quick tour and learned that each room is themed after a different element. The decor is beautiful and thoughtful throughout, and there's even a hidden karaoke room tucked away. I believe our server's name was Alex. We came in with a group of 15+ people, and honestly, he absolutely crushed it the whole time. He stayed on top of everything, made sure everyone had what they needed, and checked in with us regularly without being too much. Went to Nova Kitchen & Bar for the first time on Father's Day (6/21/2026) for dinner and we had a reservation for 5 people at 5:30pm. Given that we had a reservation, we didn't have to wait long to be seated, however we were seated in the the restaurant towards the left with the ramp going down to the tables and sushi bar. It was quiet, so quiet that we were the only ones seated in this particular section and we could hear the sushi staff talking in Korean. I did appreciate that the table was large enough to place all the entrees and side dishes we ordered, and it was easier to hear ourselves when trying to enjoy the food. We ordered the octopus, sinigang chicken wings, crab cake, garlic noodles, miso cod, and steak platter to share along with the chocolate ganache cake for dessert. The standouts were the sinigang chicken wings and the steak. The service was excellent, our server even accommodated our request to sit on the other side of the restaurant which almost had a dance club type feel with the lighting and ambiance. I wanted to be where the people were at and to see the decor as well as the bar. When I asked the server why we weren't sat on the more busier side in the beginning, he said it was because he was serving the side by the sushi bar which is usually the side that he serves. I thought it was because we came in with my dad who uses a four wheeled walker and they wanted us to sit on the more quieter side, but I did see another Asian man on the louder more happening side and he had a walker as well. I also noticed that there were other private rooms which would be great for parties. The parking was free and it was in a lot by the hotel on the property. I always love this place cuz of the ambiance and the food and drink choices. There's so many photo opps and so much food that I want to try. The drink menu looks beautiful and the choices are so good. Everything we ate was pretty good but I have to be honest on just a couple things. I didn't care for the sisig, had a few burnt pieces and I could taste it. And we ordered a seafood dish but I think the waiter forgot to put it in and I totally forgot about it. We were already done with everything else and didn't want to wait to get the last dish cuz it was getting busy so unfortunately, we didn't get to try that dish. 7,815 mostly 5 star reviews? I dunno... The restaurant is in the Hyatt Regency Orange Country Convention Center complex...I didn't know this when I searched for a highly rated restaurant in Anaheim. I wish I had known this because I probably wouldn't have chosen it. But it was all of the raving reviews and the mere quantity of them that swayed my decision and well, Yelp, ya led me wrong for the first time! Ok, I realize I'm being a little harsh but there's no way this place is as good as all of these reviews. We were coming in from the South Bay to pick up my daughter and her boyfriend from their High School Winter Formal at the Anaheim Grove so the wife and I had a date night. Lots of reviews noted the elegant and sophisticated decor but I'm not so sure I would call hanging tinsel in the entrance of the restaurant or the nightclubby vibe terribly elegant. The space is massive with several different dining rooms; it's nice but terribly, terribly loud. We had made reservations on Opentable but when we got there, we were told that we'd need to wait 15-20 minutes for our table. Maybe that and having to find a parking space out in the massive and packed Convention Center parking lot left me with a bad taste in my mouth from the onset. As the host guided us to the bar to wait, he noticed that a table was, in fact, just being cleared so after ordering a drink at the bar, he came back over to bring us to our table. He was friendly and genuinely wanted us to be happy. The Beijing Fashion ($15) was tasty if on the smaller side. It was gone in just a few sips. Rombauer Chard ($16) was priced very reasonably for a solid Chard but the pour was ridiculous. My wife even took a pic. For our meal, we ordered the wings ($14), Dan Dan Noodles ($14), Double Hamachi Roll ($19) and an order of salmon belly nigiri ($9). I also ordered a Paloma with Mezcal ($18) and I just couldn't handle the girly glass it was served in so I asked for a rocks glass instead...lol. Food presentation was great, especially the Dan Dan Noodles. They tasted good, not amazing, with good heat but I think the flavor of the chili oil dominated the dish. The wings were solid with good crunch and the double Hamachi Roll was just as you'd expect; I enjoyed both. The salmon belly was good, not amazing. Usually good salmon and salmon belly are super tender with your teeth sinking into the flesh and it just melts in your mouth. This just wasn't like that at all. This salmon definitely had a bite and chew to it. Still good, but not amazing, like I said. Service was very good. Our waiter Kim Saur was very friendly and attentive. Reading the other reviews I was very happy that we had a better experience than some others. So...if in the area again, I probably won't pick Nova. The giant, packed convention center parking, the super clubby and loud atmosphere (not very elegant at all) and the fair fare (see what I did there?)...it just was not my cup of tea for what I was looking for. On the other hand, if you're looking for what seems to be a pretty fun, clubby spot while you're at the hotel or attending a convention, I don't think you'd be disappointed by the food. Wanted to write this review about the service! Food was delicious all around, but our server Jay left more to be desired. We ordered the sisig and he took the serving spoon after mixing it and we had to use our forks and knives to serve ourselves since there's no other spoon. Our server also didn't check on us often even though there wasn't that many tables. He also missed a food item we ordered, and when we brought it up he said "i don't think you guys ordered that" instead of admitting his mistake. Everyone at our table definitely heard my friend order that item so it was a little off putting to hear him reply like that. Jimmy was so attentive! We rented the speakeasy area for my dad's Father's Day brunch -- he loves karaoke, so it was the perfect spot. We did the AYCE brunch and (the karaoke area for only $25 per person!) from 12 to 3pm, and everything was great: the sushi was fresh, and my favorites were the matcha French toast and the chicken and waffles. The Hawk Ribeye had no real flavor and was slightly under cooked. The chocolate ganache cake was just a normal basic cake nothing too special. And the strawberry panna cotta was a big let down it was just whipped cream with strawberry sorbet. The service was alright even with it being a little less busy our server never really checked in on us. And the ambiance felt like we were in a Vegas night club and was a little dark with a little mood lighting and a giant LED wall in the back. I wouldn't go out of my way to return here unless someone in my party wanted to try it out and If I did come back I would probably just order the Wagyu Beef Skillet and garlic noodz with maybe a side of rice and a couple drinks. Came for Sunday brunch. Reservations on OpenTable. Cost was $69.99 per person and it featured king crab legs, snow crab leg clusters, giant shrimp cocktail pieces, sushi, and prime rib. The rest of the buffet had offerings you'd see at a Continental breakfast (pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, eggs with peppers) and some Asian fare (fried rice, wontons, lumpia). What people come here for are the seafood offerings and it's not hard to get your moneys worth here (if that's your objective). Soft drinks are included. I really enjoyed my watermelon agua Fresca; however, the sodas were flat. The high-ticket crab/shrimp is served chilled with a side of butter, cocktail sauce, and horseradish. If you want a flavorful seafood boil, then this is not what they're doing here. Their prime rib was pretty good and the fish quality of the sushi was also exceptional. I enjoyed their bluefin toro and o-toro. Rice on the sushi could have been better. For the cost, they really feature their high-ticket steak and seafood and I'm certain that I got value; however, the basic breakfast and lunch options, outside of the high-ticket items, were very limited. I'd come back for Sunday brunch if I was craving unlimited king crab, shrimp cocktail, and snow crab. The ambiance here is nice, so I might consider coming for dinner or their weekday happy hour.
