My revenge
Andy L.

This place was amazing! Celebrated friends birthday here in Whiskey room. It was private and fun. The place adds a good feel of night club, it gets your energy pumped up. The drinks were all really good. One drink that lingers on my mind is my revenge. It had a green snake in the glass and smoky flavor, the server serves the drink with lid on top. When the lid is removed, smoke comes out making a nice instagram video. Food was amazing. Asian fusion at its finest, recommend you to get the green scallion pancake with carne asada. Book your next friends gathering event here and enjoy the good food and drinks

Our family of 8 celebrated Father's Day dinner at Nova, and we had a wonderful experience. Make sure to validate your parking, they have plenty of parking available. The restaurant itself is beautiful, classy, and has a great ambiance. The hosts and servers were all friendly and attentive. A special shoutout to our server for recommending the Father's Day special; otherwise, we probably would have spent much more! We ordered the tomahawk special with two additional steaks for $120, Floating Garlic Noodles, Sashimi Platter, Pork Belly Bao, Dragon Breath sushi roll, sinigang wings, and for dessert, the Matcha tiramisu and Chocolate Ganache Cake . We also enjoyed their $5 draft beers and sake. For a family of 8, our total came out to less than $500, which was a great value considering the quality and amount of food. Everything we ordered was delicious, the service was excellent, and the overall atmosphere made our Father's Day celebration extra special. We'll definitely be back!

Wanting elegant, upscale Asian fusion food? I've always been looking for a stylish spot for celebrations... until I found Nova. Located right next to the Hyatt Regency Orange County and just minutes away from Disneyland Resort!! Check out ths Dragon's Breath! What. The. Flame. And speaking of celebrations... we're here celebrating our first Catalina trip! I mean, yeah... we're eating this fresh sashimi after spending the day looking at fish. The irony is not lost on us. So let's get into some meat! Kung Pao Chicken and a Chashu Bowl. Taking familiar favorites and presenting them in a refined way. Also, the Cornstar Cream Mocktail. So trendy! IG: socalhkfoodies

This place is dangerous. I knew that eating here might cause a gout flare up. My wife had picked this place for Mother's Day brunch. I didn't have a choice. They had all the high purine foods possible for a flareup like crab, shrimp and prime rib. All favorites of mine. They had breakfast items like sausage, bacon and waffles. I don't know if they do this weekly, but, they did have a guy distributing the crab legs. Our empty plates were regularly cleared. They have a good brunch. Take the gout pill prior to eating here. You can eat more without fear.

Finally! This restaurant has been on my saved list for years and I finally got to go. As a walk-in on a Friday night I only had to wait 10 or 15 minutes to be seated. The restaurant did seem to be shortstaffed, but everyone was working as the best as they could. OK, let's get into the food review part: Yellowtail and jalapeño- 4/5 Tuna tartare -3/5 Miso cod-3/5 Fried chicken bao-4/5 Floating noodles-3/5 Baked scallop roll-4/5 Spicy tuna on crispy rice-3/5 Molten chocolate cake-4/5 Mango mochi-5/5 The food was good, but not great. I really appreciated the fact how fast the food came, but the noodle dish was a little on the cold side and some of the flavors of the dishes just didn't excite me as much as I had hoped for. I also ordered a couple of cocktails that were reasonably priced around $15 each that took a long time to arrive and were not good in my opinion but I kept them because it would take too long for something else to come out. My server Jay did a great job with being attentive. The aesthetics of this restaurant are nice and there is a private dining area, which would be a great to host a special occasion but for me personally I'm not in the biggest rush to come back. If I do come back, it would be for their homemade mango mochi, which was amazing along with their fried chicken bao.

What a horrible place. Besides the ambiance which is great! Everything else is horrible. It took the waiter 20 minutes to get a draft beer. That's was the 1st thing I ordered. Food: ordered a sushi which was horrible and seemed like it was pre-made was put in freezer and defrost and served it to us. The chow mean was dry no flavors at all. It took the waiter forever to get soy and chillies sauce by that time the food was cold. The edamane was cold. The veggie and tofu was k, the tofu was crispy but no flavors very bland. The drinks were okay. Nothing special. Overall I would never come back to this place.

Saw all the great reviews so we decided to try this place for Father's Day. Being close to Disneyland I was worried about the parking, but they have a parking lot that they share with the Residence Inn that they validate so parking is easy. The ambiance is really nice and the staff is very friendly. They had a Father's Day special which included three steaks that was a very good deal. Unfortunately we asked for medium rare but they all came out medium well so the only steak that tasted good was the rib eye. I would recommend trying a steak as the flavors were good. We ordered a bunch of sushi that were good (not great). I did really enjoyed their vegetarian fried rice with egg served on a hot plate and their pork belly charshu bowl. We shared the strawberry panna cotta and it was ok.

Ambiance - 5 Staff- 5 Food - 4.5 We made a reservation cause they allowed dogs and we wanted yummy food. The restaurant is gorgeous. When you walk into the lobby, there are coy fish projected on a wall and silvery things hanging from the ceiling to look like you're underwater. There are two sides to the restaurant. One side is very sleek and has the sushi bar and the other side is more loungy with a regular bar. We sat outside since we had the pup. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a few items and had some drinks. They had a nice sale list as well. Sautéed edamame - yummy and garlicky. Zesty wonton with sauce on the side. I can't do spicy so I just dunked mine in some soy sauce. It was good. Chili oil wonton- my husband really liked these. 30 piece sashimi- nice big pieces of fish. The fish were split into 3 pieces each. Instead of all different types of fish, there were a few they repeated. They were good but usually when we get sashimi platters, we get different types of fish. We would certainly return and try some other items.

Really cool ambiance with plenty of seating for large parties. Friendly hostess and waiters. Food menu is extensive with great gluten free options too! The cocktails were yummy and our favorite dish was the beef short rib (pictured). A few dishes lacked bold, fresh flavors. Otherwise, awesome food. Looking forward to coming back!

I originally posted a very critical review of Nova Kitchen & Bar due to several significant issues, specifically regarding the billing and service. However, I'm updating my rating because the management reached out to me directly to make things right. The manager was professional, apologized sincerely for the oversight, and took the time to correct the billing errors. It's nice to see a business being proactive about feedback, and I appreciate them standing behind their service. Based on this recovery, I'd be open to giving them another shot.

Double Hamachi Roll
Krista K.

Cutely decorated. This place is more for vibes/ aesthetic and less for food. Would recommend reservations. Octopus w/ Japanese Herbs- 5/5: This was the highlight of the dinner. The sauce was citrusy and refreshing. Kung Pao Chicken- 3/5: Tastes like your average westernized kung pao dish. On the sweet side. There was a lot given and came with lots of rice. Double Hamachi Roll- 3/5: The sushi was mid, nothing special. Dan Dan Noodle- 3/5: Doesn't taste like your average Dan Dan noodles because of the Szechuan sauce. There was a bit too much sauce making it too salty and hard to eat. I think it would've been better if there was less sauce.

I loved: Fresh Wasabi Toro W/ Caviar Chocolate Ganache Cake Scallops W/ Uni Mushroom Toast I really liked: Freshwater Unagi Yellowtail Belly Sweet Shrimp Sunrise In Kyoto Toro Handroll Sashimi Salad Salmon With Fried Shallots And Truffle Oil South Korean Halibut Sealed Salmon W/ Pico De Gallo I liked: Ooo La Lada Green Tea Mochi Bluefin Tuna A great place to start is the Sashimi Salad. It's very refreshing, the fish is clearly high quality, and it sets the tone for the meal perfectly. The chef grinding fresh wasabi tableside is a thoughtful touch that you don't see often and it genuinely elevates the experience. Speaking of which, the Bluefin Tuna pairs beautifully with it. It's not the best I've had, but it's still a solid bite. Freshwater Unagi is better than your average unagi. Flavorful and well seasoned. The Yellowtail Belly is lightly buttery and a very satisfying bite. The Sweet Shrimp has some roe on it, is slightly sweet, and feels a bit more substantial than the other pieces. The Toro With Caviar is a standout. Super smooth texture and incredible flavor. The Toro Handroll is also quite good, though it doesn't quite reach the heights of the toro cut itself. Mushroom Toast delivers amazing umami and I love that it comes as two pieces, making it a more substantial course. An excellent change of pace. Scallops With Uni is super tasty. The flavors of both hit you instantly and everything tastes incredibly fresh. The South Korean Halibut has a clean flavor profile, though it's slightly difficult to chew. The Sealed Salmon W/ Pico De Gallo is a fun and tasty bite. The pico is a creative addition. The Salmon With Fried Shallots And Truffle Oil is good too, though the truffle oil is a slight contrast against the salmon and shallots. Still enjoyable overall. For drinks, the Sunrise In Kyoto is dangerously good. Not overly sweet and you can barely taste the alcohol. Very easy to over-order. The Ooo La Lada is a rum cocktail that runs a little strong but is still tasty. On the dessert side, the Chocolate Ganache Cake is rich and oozy with very heavenly chocolate. The ice cream and chocolate crumble complement it wonderfully, and the fresh fruit adds a bright, bursting finish. The Green Tea Mochi is light and pleasant, though the flavor gets a bit lost after such a robust meal. Our server Calvin was exceptional. He was consistently on top of clearing plates and bowls, kept waters filled, and checked in regularly throughout the meal. He even brought moist towelettes right before I was about to ask for them. That's S+ service. I would only suggest that the chef wipe the serving stone between courses so the pictures turn out better haha. The ambiance is stunning. We asked for a quick tour and learned that each room is themed after a different element. The decor is beautiful and thoughtful throughout, and there's even a hidden karaoke room tucked away. Nova Kitchen & Bar clearly puts as much care into its atmosphere as it does its food.

I believe our server's name was Alex. We came in with a group of 15+ people, and honestly, he absolutely crushed it the whole time. He stayed on top of everything, made sure everyone had what they needed, and checked in with us regularly without being too much. One person in our group ordered a drink they weren't really vibing with, and Alex was super chill about it and helped them get a replacement they actually liked. On top of that, he was always ready to help with whatever we needed and made our big group feel genuinely welcome. Huge shoutout to Alex for the awesome service and for making our experience such a great one!

Got some take out months ago and ordered dim sum (cheung fun and pork & shrimp siomai) and the wood-smoked boack char siu. We told ourselves that we had to dine in so today was the day. It was still happy hour when we arrived at 4:30 PM so we decided to start off with beer and winter melon margarita for drinks. Also had some chili crunch burrata and chili surf clam. So tasty and spicy but couldn't stop eating them. For our mains, we got the dong po and braised beef noodle soup. Asked to switch the veggies of the soup to ong choy and they were so accommodating i definitely appreciated it. Portions are huge for 2 people so we barely put a dent to it, we had to stop to make room for dessert which was the mango snow and enjoyed it so much! I love Asian food in general, and when it combines with other cultures - perfection is created. Kei Concepts has it down to a science when it comes to Asian fusion cuisine. I enjoy all their other restaurants. Currently, Qua is their newest establishment. Like the others, it did not let me down. Great menu selection. A lot of options. The truffle chicken is such a perfect dish for me, especially because all I usually eat is protein and veggies. The truffle flavor is strong, which is a good thing! The wontons were cooked nicely and yummy. Not overcooked so don't need to worry about soggy dumpling wrapping paper. The alcoholic drink we ordered was something along the lines of "monkey" in the name of it. It was delicious!! Cold and sweet. The crab roe dish was great. The crab flavor is pretty strong, which I love - no complaints there. I'll definitely return to try out some more dishes. We also got a stir fry beef veggie dish, which I noticed now I forgot to take a photo of. It was delicious as well; lots of garlic in that so beware. Don't worry, they have mouth wash in the bathrooms, which is so considerate and convenient! Our servers were nice and attentive. The place is pretty big, lots of seating but it is very popular so I recommend making a reservation. Because it's still pretty new on the market, everyone wants to try it!

When I said "Bar" and "Santa Ana" in the Yelp search - of course it said "Club 616" in the first…read morespot - OF COURSE IT SAID 616!!! I was lucky enough to stumble across this gem of the center of OC when they first opened - and I am proud to be a regular here. I don't know how to go somewhere else - because I feel like the staff are giant gems in this jewel of a spot. Winters is a curator of boozy information that has helped me learn about "gin" and "root beer whiskey" so I can sound like an adult-ish purveyor, when really I know close to nothing except being a willing student to his creations. Dan the Man and Jacob always see me raise my hand in the corner of the bar, like the student I am, and have been willing to fill in the blanks for me when I know I am of thirst, but do not have the words for what to order. Every person working in the well has treated me with kindness - they have taken the time to get to know me, and I will be forever appreciative of how they have taken care of me over the years. But the real joy has been the transformation that this spot has for building a community of people in Santa Ana for real recognizing real. I have been bringing my Dad with me to play pool for the past few years. Sometimes people ask me if he plays professionally, I am terrible, and my skill incline is slow, he is patient and plays with the same level craftiness that the staff offer the cocktails. My Dad is always stoked when we have time to go have a few hours of games at 616 - especially now that there are regulars on 4th street that are excited to see that he is there playing - and they rush to write their names on the chalkboard to challenge him - or beat him in a game they really earned the W. On lazy Sundays, I watch couples sit with their drink, listening to Jazz, and watching my Dad whoop my ass while making amazing shots. I am forever grateful to Memo who sometimes takes a break from his shift behind the bar to give my dad an actual challenge - which allows me the chance to watch my Dad enjoy fellowship around the table. Knowing the table was a relic of the bars former self, and knowing the history that this spot has in Santa Ana is a reminder that so much around us can change - but it is those moments of the crack of the rack, the cheer of getting the combo shot, and the shake of hands when it's over that shows that it's not just about the pool table - but about the energy of a place that is welcoming and curated by people who care about what they do - and care about who comes through their doors. Thank you Jason and Mike B to bringing this to 4th St and supporting the community that was already here - and for building a community for the future. Thank you to Christina and Brandon for always having amazing pictures, decor, and fun events at 616 that help introduce new folks into this great spot. Time is short. Learn about Root Beer Whiskey.
