Before I start, I want to shout out to Angelina for always serving, and I'm not talking about the food She has a special look to her, exotic and indescribable but super chill once you talk to her I've been coming back to Tsukiyo Sushi again and again, and every visit has been such a memorable experience. The food is sooo delicious, but the service is also the main reason I keep returning. Angelina is THE ONE! She's always so funny, friendly, attentive, and accommodating every single time I'm here. She checks up on us consistently and makes sure we're taken care of every time. I've tried quite a few dishes now and have loved so many of them. We frequent this place often because it's close to our house. Not the best sushi I've ever had but overall good value for money. It's a cozy little spot with not too many tables or booths and more suitable for smaller parties than large. Of all the times we went for dinner, most of them we had to wait about 45 minutes. The service is overall quick and gets the job done. This recent time they felt bad for our party of 6 waiting too long and gave us complimentary ice cream at the end which I thought was very nice! I usually go for the dinner set which costs $35 and comes with 12 premium pieces of sushi. It does have uni, sweet shrimp, and toro included which I find to be good value for the price. We've also tried their pastas which isn't terrible. They also have a wide selection of different rolls. My only gripe is they don't have fresh wasabi kizami when I request. holy yum. i like the interior decoration, they have a bunch of like post it notes of drawings from people all over the front its cool. the lighting is nice and ambient inside. the service was also great, they checked in on us very often and were very friendly. the miso soup was good idk why it was like better than normal. the salad had a nice dressing i liked it a lot also i dont really know what it was tho. the squid legs were nice and crispy, the batter was seasoned nicely. the sauce was not bad either but the squid itself was really good im a sucker for squid. the chicken nanban was recommended as a must try by our server. i can see why despite it being different from what i would usually lean towards. they use chicken thigh so its dark meat which i like. the sauce on top was very sweet and had like cucumber in it so it was a nice pop of texture too in addition to the crisp of the chicken. the chicken was remarkably crispy despite being completely covered in sauce so that was pretty awesome. im usually not a fan of meat that is too sweet and this one was really sweet but i liked it a lot. probably wouldnt get it again tho but i recommend it to anyone who doesnt have that same preference as me. the cinco de aburi was SOOO good. the smoky flavor from the sear was crazy good. i dont remember what fish they use but its 5 pieces of seared nigiri and its so good def get that if u go. the uni pasta was SUPER GOOD. The ratings below are averaged between me and my bf. Fried Oysters 8/10 Crispy, fresh, and delicious. The sweet n sour sauce was a tad too sweet though, but maybe I'm just sensitive to sugar. Have not been here since it was called Dai Sushi. Decided to come in and try it out on a date night on a Friday evening, no reservations. We got there and got seated at the last available booth. Score! No wait. We ordered cocktails to start then our entrees. It was a no brainer I got the tiger roll, as I look for unagi and salmon anywhere I go to see if I can get a roll with both in it. Topped with tobiko was a nice touch, it would've been nice if all pieces had tobiko but oh well. We also got complimentary edamame, which was good but overly salted to make you order more lol Bf ordered the salmon skin roll, which came out topper with fried onions. There was an asterisk next to each of our rolls and we didn't know why but didn't ask about. Turns out our rolls came out spicy so I think that's what the asterisks meant. Didn't matter a whole lot because the rolls were both very good. For cocktails I asked our server which drink is sweeter, the plum based one at the top or the lime one below it. She said just depends on what taste you're going for but she said the lime one is popular and refreshing, so I went with that. Both were good but I preferred my lime cocktail more. The restaurant is known for its sushi (which I have had on multiple occasions), but its other items deserve love as well. The seafood tomato pasta is well spiced, extremely garlicky, and delicious. It has that sweetness thats evocative of asian tomato pastas which I've come to love. Ample seafood, decent cook on everything but I would say the sauce is the best component. I have to deduct points because there was a little bit of mussel shell that broke off into my pasta that detracted from my experience and there was a bit too much sauce which left me wanting for some type of carb to either mop it up or just less sauce in the dish. I also would have liked the noodles themselves to be a bit more toothsome, but that is just my personal preference. At its current price point it is an incredible pasta you can get for under twenty dollars and the portion is quite reasonable. The uni pasta comes with sooo much uni, its also perfectly creamy and unctuous and delish. I am such a fan. Better noodle texture than my seafood pasta, probably because there was less piping hot sauce to continue cooking it, and the flavors are very well balanced. The uni is fresh, the noodles are great, and the flavor is on point. I think this is one of the best dishes at Tsukiyo! Loved the fried squid legs, I do not see enough people talking about this item. It really deserves rave reviews, the portion is almost unreasonable (look how big it is) for just seven dollars!! The squid is cooked well, great texture, delicate fry that just shatters in your mouth. Salty savory goodness that leaves you wanting for more. We came here for my gf's bday celebration yesterday and it was an absolute nightmare. We arrived around 2 PM well past any lunch rush especially for a Saturday and were told it would be a 45 minute wait. Understandable since we had a large party of 8. When they told us our "table" was ready around 2:55 PM to our surprise they guided half of our party to one booth table of 4 and the other half to another booth table of 4 on the other side of the restaurant... Now this in itself is extremely disappointing because it was a family birthday celebration which included siblings who drove in from out of town and grandparents who wanted to celebrate with the whole family to make special memories. The worst part about the two separate tables was that they had 2, 4 person tables NEXT to each other that they could have EASILY put together for our group. By this point there were only ~3-4 other parties sat so half of the restaurant was EMPTY. Those 2 tables had a party of 2 and the other was EMPTY. There were plenty of two person tables or booth tables for that party of 2. I don't understand how a restaurant can possibly be so unaware of how horrible this arrangement for our party was. How could they possibly have such poor customer service? When we explained we wanted to sit together because it was a birthday after we already had when we originally put our name on the list the 2 servers at the front host stand didn't even turn around to look at us they just stayed looking forward and said sorry "we can't do anything", extremely unapologetically. Also, it would be one thing if they had told us when we put our name on the list that they couldn't seat us all together, but to make us wait over 45 minutes and then surprise us with that is HORRENDOUS BEHAVIOR and they should be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. Because we waited so long and we had elder family members who needed to eat lunch and couldn't wait longer we decided to stay and just have this unfortunate scenario play out. The servers took 15 minutes to bring me and my gf's tables water and even ask us what we wanted to drink, mind you we were sitting with two 90+ year old grandparents so this is UNACCEPTABLE to not bring water especially in this heat and after such a long wait. Not only this, but it took 20+ minutes for them to take our order and my gf's water had HAIR in it. We ordered 2 lunch sushi sets and when we got the bill they charged them as DINNER sets... granted the cut off for the lunch set is 3 PM, we knew what we wanted before 3 PM but they decided to take 20+ minutes to take our order so we couldn't order it before the cutoff. The meal itself was absolutely whatever. We've had better experiences here before and definitely at the previous establishment DAI which arm and leg runs circles around this new spot when it comes to the menu, customer service, friendliness, overall ambiance, and experience. It's a shame they are no longer here anymore. The chirashi don I ordered said it has "premium fish" in it, and yet the fish that was in the bowl was just salmon, octopus, yellowtail, fish eggs, the bluefin chopped pieces it named specifically, unagi, shrimp, and one more cooked fish. These are all THE BASIC fishes, I'm not dense. If you are trying to act like a high caliber tasting menu level sushi establishment, don't disguise yourself as this "casual run of the mill open vibe" and not put your money where your mouth is when it comes to delivering what you say you will on the menu. We will not be coming back here and I feel sick that we gave this place a few chances since DAI was our go to that NEVER disappointed in the 20+ times we went there with better prices, vibe, friendly staff, AND most importantly fresh fish. The worst part of it all is they didn't even apologize once for this major inexcusable experience. In fact they doubled down on their attitude and were not friendly to either of our tables being very cold the whole time we were there. They didn't even offer anything to make up for us being seated apart from each other. Not even a free appetizer or comping anything, not even a HAPPY BIRTHDAY or birthday dessert on the house. I've been here multiple times including before the rebrand to Tsukiyo and service has always been great. It's easy to dine with friends or solo. Sushi quality is pretty solid (consistent faves are the seared salmon and golden eye snapper). I also can devour their mentaiko and uni pastas. Other dishes that have stood out while visiting include the curry eel and s-class ceviche! For drinks I've only tried the yuzumi and midori thus far and they were prettt smooth and easy to drink. A dessert fav would be the tsukigato (it taste like a good espresso martini and the biscoff crackers with it are the perfect addition). read more

We liked our LA experience so much we came here and tried their dinner set and their mentaiko cream pasta. Their dinner set was great, but we did taste the slightest bit of fishiness with some of the pieces. Their mentaiko pasta on the other hand was AMAZING. Probably the best pasta we've ever had. The bread perfectly complimented the sauce of the pasta and they also give free refills of it which was very nice. If you eat here for dinner, they also give you free edamame! Only downside was the service was a little slow (took 45 min for the sushi set to come), but otherwise the staff were very attentive. read more

I could be biased because I really loved Dai Sushi which was the sushi place before Tsukiyo Sushi. But my friends and I decided to give it a try and unfortunately, it just didn't hit the mark. We ordered the cinco de aburi, uni cream pasta, takoyaki, lion king roll, tsukiyo roll, and the spider roll. The cinco de aburi had a nice peppery taste and was presented beautifully. The uni cream pasta had a sliver of uni - which is probably why it is priced $19.99. It was creamy and quite delicious. I wish I had more of the uni flavor and maybe masago/fish roe to help develop a more seafood profile. The rolls weren't anything that wow'ed us. Out of the three rolls, we liked the tsukiyo special roll the best. The spider roll was our least favorite. The servers were friendly though and even allowed us to have a cake for our friend's bday! read more
