If you're into 80s/90s games, arcade games, pinball machines, and console games both retro and current. Locate on the historical Main Street and with cool vibe. There's a bar in the middle of the room and surrounds by games and tables plus movies posters plus other on the walls. There is patios seating in the back for smokers. Games are cheap to play, a quarter or two and it was blast from the past. There're cocktails and snacks to purchase and you got to be 21yo to get in. This is a revision of my original review, following the response of the owner, Richard T. First of all, I want to thank him for being attentive to the review. I did speak with a couple of members of our party who had a very positive experience in Barcode. They were not with the original group and arrived after we left. I will say however that the greeting we received was less than gracious and overreactive to a very common situation. Richard saw our group as "random people" who were moving around his "living room" room furniture. Richard may have seen himself as placid and congenial, but that was not the impression that any of us had. That's OK, we all have our bad days or interactions we wish we could refine. This place is also nostalgic since they have retro/pinball games and a switch. I definitely want to come back and play the games. I think if you open a tab with the bar, you get an hour of free play! Barcode is a cool bar located off historic Main Street in Garden Grove that feature some classic arcade games, pinball machines, and console games both retro and current for patrons to enjoy. If you want to play on the other classic arcade games, you can exchange your dollar for quarters at the bar. The bartenders are really nice and they made some good drinks. That bar itself is decently sized with indoor and outdoor seating, is clean, and plays music that appeal to the money or crowd. The only minor complaint for me as a non-smoker is the smoke from the outdoor smoking section can come lofting and make it hard to breathe at times. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the friendly staff (including the owner, Rich) and a big crackling fire in the patio area. 3 pinball machines. Wall to wall arcade games. Honestly, Barcode is one of my go-tos when it comes to recommending bars in Orange County. The retro neon sci-fi look of the bar with its displays of nerd culture through the decades, mixed with pockets of different old and new gaming options makes it easy to come back over and over and have a completely different experience. The themed cocktails are more than just "mai tai with a different name," which, as my mother and former bartender always told me: if you can make it at home, it's not worth getting at a bar. So it means that pretty much everything on their menu is fair game (but I do recommend trying out the Shoryuken or the Joker). And as far as bar food goes, I'm in love with the fried zucchini sticks and nacho fries. It's been about a few years since I last visited this place, and it looks like there's been some good updates to the business. The bartenders are super rad here, and are friendly and great at recommending drinks based on your preferences. I had one of the sweeter drinks (can't remember the name of it) and it was delicious! My friends and I were there on a Saturday night, and that place was popping! This bar has tons of old school retro games like Street Fighter lined against their walls all the way to the back room. It's a decent sized bar hangout spot with a few high top tables that fit about 6 people per table in the main area, and more casual hanging spots towards the back. There's also an outdoor area where you could smoke. They're located in Garden Grove's main street, and is a super cool spot for a chill hangout. Love this concept so much! A bar with arcade games? Just be prepared to switch your money into quarters (or bring some) if you want to play these games. My friends and I shared the Dumpster Fire, which comes with Garlic Parm Tator Tots, Onion Rings, Mozzarella Sticks, and 10 Chicken Tenders! We chose the Lemon Pepper flavor and it was perfectly seasoned, not too powdery. One tip is to each the mozzarella sticks when it first comes out so it still has the stringy factor or else you'll just be eating a cold block of cheese (unless you like that haha). There are concept cocktails that were pretty interesting, but feel free to ask the bar for customized drinks too depending on whether or not they have the ingredients! This is a great place to come if you want a small place to hang and have a drink with your friends. There's an outside area with plenty of space and seating as long as you're there quick enough. Not giving them the five stars they could use some deep cleaning of their establishment. Your shoes will stick to the ground and the tables are sticky and wet from drinks. Ok so I went in with decent expectations and I was amazed at how fun this place actually was, I've gone twice since my first visit and the guy with the dreads makes the experience. All the staff is incredible and it's fun if you have a group and get some drinks while playin onna Nintendo switch. From the outside patio with the fireplace during the winter to the numerous video game/arcade machines inside and the food and cocktails served at the bar, you can easily find a game to play and have a fun time! The bartenders here are pretty friendly and it's always nice being able to chat with them. The cocktails here are not too pricey and they all have nicknames tied with video games which is pretty cool. When I went there recently, I was ordering their flux capacitors quite often which is a gin & tonic with elderflower and blueberry. They stream movies at the front of the bar along with games like Super Smash Bros that you can play with your friends. They have all your typical arcade machines along the wall and pinball machines towards the back. They will also sometimes do local gaming tournaments here as well if you are interested. I've heard good things about the food here from my friends who've tried it before. They have a good assortment of bar food but their kitchen does close at 9:30pm as a heads up! One of my favorite arcade bars to visit. They have many games such as Street fighter, Mortal Kombat, Pinball machine, Tetris and more. Most of the games takes quarters and if you don't have any you can ask any of the bartenders for change. All the times I have been here the bartenders have been really friendly and greets you when you arrive. The drinks are pretty affordable and their $9ish cocktails are pretty good. I had the Shoryuken! and the Hadouken! I would recommend both. I also had their tater tots and the chicken strips. The tater tots were better than the chicken strips. It was the texture of the chicken strips. The space inside is not too big, but they do have seating and tables. This place does get packed so I would recommend coming when they open. If it's too crowded inside they have a patio with seating. They also have a TV that is usually playing a movie if you are not playing any games. I do love how this place is decorated in the inside, the lights and the collectible figures on displays definitely make you feel like you are in a retro arcade. Lastly, there is a parking lot, so no street parking is needed. read more

I am definitely coming back. Love the drinks (VALUE!) and company. We just sat at the bar and didn't play games to be honest. The service was sooo friendly and welcoming even when it got crowded. The community feels so open and nice--my parnter and I immediately knew we'd be back again to unwind from work. The drinks are delicious for cheaper cocktails compared to a lot of other places in a 6-mile radius. The 24 was my personal favorite, but the Flux was my partner's favorite. We also tried 4 other drinks and none of them let us down. The fries were crispy and a yummy bar snack! The ambiance was a little loud at first cause we didn't know what to expect, but we quickly became comfortable. We definitely recommend sitting at the bar as the bartenders are super cool and kind, and very attentive. They listened to what kind of drinks we wanted and anticipated what might work best for us next.
