This place is legit. Nostalgic, authentic, comforting flavors. Braised pork rice: a classic dish that they do right. Love that they give you sauce on the rice. All the sides you typically want with 卤肉饭 are included, from egg to cabbage to pickled veggies. Vinegar shredded potato 土豆丝: perfectly cooked texture and the flavor is refreshing light savory and perfectly vinegary. I will keep coming back here! The prices are reasonable and the food has been consistently delicious each time. So glad I discovered this place to give me the home flavors I want when I get a craving
On the way back from Santa Ana, find LuYiXuan Restaurant in Alhambra, which serves Shanghainese and Taiwanese cuisine. This restaurant is difficult to get parking because it is located inside a small plaza on the corner of Valley and Garfield. Fortunately, I found a parking space there. The restaurant is not particularly large, But there are many customers dining there. We ordered Garlic Cucumber, Braised Pork Rice, Garlic Water Spinach, Braised Beef Noodles, Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs, Garlic Beef Cubes, and two Thai Milk Teas. I'm able to speak with the owner, who informs me that this restaurant does not use MSG or other ingredients. Everything is fresh and healthy. After tasting the food and the Braised Beef Noodles, I can tell it's really tasty and light, with no harsh components that make you thirsty and want to drink more water. So far, my family and I have really enjoyed the food here. Definitely will return and try other delicious foods next time.
Prices and portions are fair in this little shop in Alhambra, and the pig ear here is cut thin and marinated in a classic chili sauce! Service is outstanding and very friendly, and the restroom is clean. Lots of free parking is available in the small lot outside. The restaurant is in a corner of the lot within unassuming outside exterior but very nice interior. The garlic cucumber was crunchy and light in marinade. I enjoyed the pig ear but prefer thicker cuts typically. It would be wonderful to come back to try other entrees.
Found this place on Yelp because I was craving for my preferred comfort dish - braised pork belly with rice and it did not disappoint. The pork was cooked perfectly. Great flavor, not oily, and very tender. Came with the side you would want - sautéed cabbage, pickled vegetables, stewed egg, and I asked for chili. The pork large intestine had great flavor . Both were good sized portions and the food arrived within a few minutes after ordering. Service was super quick. This place is no frills but clean. Definitely will come back to try the other dishes including the beef noodle soup. Parking is ample in the underground garage.
Small parking lot with additional garage parking. Such a hole in a wall spot! It's located right inside a small plaza near the corner. We tried a few of their dishes and the braised pork rice and beef noodle soup was great and flavorful. We also got the seafood curry cause it looked like a popular item to try but that was tasted mediocre. The flavor was a bit bland and the curry was more watery Staff is really friendly and sweet.
My daughter found this restaurant on Yelp because of its high ratings and description of Taiwanese food. She wanted to try their braised pork rice. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived, there were only a few tables. It's a small restaurant. The owner (I think) and waiter were both very welcoming and friendly. They gave us complimentary cups of chicken vegetable broth. We decided to try some items that we regularly order at other restaurants and some new items. Chicken vegetable broth: 5/5 - I thought this was the best dish we had. Very umami broth. Beef burrito appetizer: 3/5 - This is more commonly called a beef roll at most other restaurants. It was okay, they don't fry the wrapping like some other restaurants. Braised pork rice: 3/5 - Good portion size and reasonably priced. The flavors are less Taiwanese and more Shanghai. Braised beef noodle:3/5 - Compared to other beef noodles soups we've had this was just okay. Braised intestine rice noodle: 3.5/5 - they were nice enough to make mine without peppers. I enjoy intestines and wanted to try this dish. The owner suggested I have it with vinegar which I tried and after eating maybe a quarter of the dish I felt nauseous from the vinegar. The vinegar does enhance the dish but at the same time you can only have so much of it without feeling queasy. I would rate this place 3.5 rounded up to 4. Food wise I thought this place was just okay. But I really enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and might come back again in the future to try new dishes.
We've been here many times throughout the past 3 years and each time we leave with our bellies full and a smile on our faces. It's simple what they do well here, they make darn good food that tastes like homemade food (healthy and delicious), they price everything on the menu very reasonably (especially in these crazy times), and they treat all their customers like family/neighbors. Now that I've given you the why, let's move on to the good food. We usually order the beef noodle soup because of how tender the meat is and the soup & noodles are just perfect comfort food. And we always pair it with veggies (garlic cucumbers or water spinach) and pork dumplings are also amazing. Almost any of their braised meat rice/noodles are just really good (popular ones are braised pork rice or braised chicken leg rice). Interior space is also very roomy and comfortable for big groups or cozy meals Parking is pretty easy since they have a lot in their back entrance and they used to let you park underground as well but the building's new management started closing the gates at 6pm because they're just sad and unfriendly human beings lol but luckily the surrounding area has many places to park.
Brought my out of town guests here on a stop from a west coast cruise because, and I quote, "Janelle, there is NO good Asian food on the boat!" I let them order because this was to satisfy their cravings....and, they're Taiwanese that live abroad. We ordered salt & pepper spare ribs, rice cakes w/pork, pan fried dumplings, pigs feet, tendons, pig ear and to balance it out some sautéed garlic spinach. All the food was cooked authentically and my friends couldn't stop talking about how good it was. This restaurants aura is a relatively casual setting. Parking lot is tight, there's not a lot of it at street level. You can enter from the parking lot through a back door or you can enter from the street. They don't care, they are happy to see and serve you. The vibe was good. Yes, I'll e back to try all the other yummy Taiwanese dishes!
Tasty , tasty , tasty I was in the area and was craving some food and decided to come here and I know I made the right decision. The braised pork ribs were excellent.
I went with friends to Luyixian in Alhambra and had a great experience eating their Chinese food! I was in the mood for 牛肉面 Beef Noodle Soup and got just that! Their noodles have a great chew, and a nice "Q" texture to them, and I loved every single bite of them. Their soup is a bit spicy, but thats my bad for asking for spicy. My party also got another order of 牛肉面 Beef Noodle Soup, and 卤肉饭 Braised Pork Rice, and shared a 空心菜 Hollow Vegetable Stir Fry. We finished everything before we left. Their portions are just perfect! Their prices are great for their portions as well, and everyone in my party table was happy with their order. Service is friendly, and our food was served in less than 5 minutes from ordering. it's a great spot if you are looking for a quick bite to eat if in a rush. They also handle a lot of take-out orders as well and are on the phone a lot. When you pass by the restaurant's sign on the street, just make a loop around to find the underground parking. It's a bit dark and you gotta climb the stairs up to find the restaurant entrance, but not too hard of a find. Their bathroom is gender neutral, large, and kept very clean, which i appreciated since we were on our way to the airport. Their 牛肉面 Beef Noodle Soup is delicious and I would definitely come back!
*4.5* Consistent rice plate Great flavor House made fresh chili on the side Had the pork rib platter, tender meat Cabbage on the side And Braised beef noodle soup Tasty broth Tender beef Good quantity of beef Recommend both dishes* More seating inside the building Parking lot garage available
You just don't find this stuff west of I-5. This bowl of noodles has convinced me to go to SGV more often. The broth was deep and fragrant, the 2 cuts of beef (banana shank and brisket) had their own charms, and the noodles had some bite. Got a touch of Taiwan and a touch of Shanghai.
Came here in search of the best beef noodle soup, but it was just alright. Here are my thoughts on the whole meal: -Spicy Beef Noodle Soup: The spice level was actually pretty mild in my opinion. I enjoyed the chewy noodles and the fact that they weren't doughy or thick. I think the broth starts you off with a good savory note but leans rather sweet with each sip. The chunks of beef were pretty tender and had nice areas with a bit of fatty trim. Nice crunchy baby bok choy as well. -Collagen Chicken Broth: This was given to us for free prior to the dishes we ordered. You could tell the bone broth was collagen-rich as it was cloudy and even came with one chicken foot for each serving. This came out hot and was very comforting. Much appreciated. The restaurant and parking: The parking lot is super small and seems to be shared with the neighboring businesses. We were able to find a spot in the back. It seems like the business has two doors so there's also an entrance in front. The restaurant has seating area immediately surrounding their counter, as well as additional tables inside their connected dining room. Service was pretty quick and attentive. Overall: Not bad but not outstanding. Still on the hunt for a more savory beef noodle soup.
Reviews are largely positive. People praise the authentic braised pork rice, flavorful beef noodle soup, friendly and attentive service, and generous portions.

MELTY TENDER JUICY GOODNESS!!! This is one of my ultimate comfort food places where I go when I just want a warm home cooked meal. I usually order togo and I love that they still give you a soup (because some places don't)! I really only order 2 things here but I'm sure the rest of the menu is good too-- pig elbow rice and braised pork rice (with chili when possible) Pig elbow is nice and tender and the skin is cooked nicely and sticky soft. The braised pork is soft, tender, fatty but not heavy. It goes soooo well with rice. The rice here is cooked well too where you can see each individual grain of rice without it being mushy or broken. The bowls also come with cabbage, pickled vegetable, and a seasoned hard boiled egg. It's a very solid meal! read more
One of our favorite restaurants in 626, also because they open past 8pm (for late dinner eaters) and easy for takeout folks. Popular items for us are $16.99 Braised Rice Dishes (great for takeout and individuals; our favorites are intestine or pork), or the $18.99 House Boiled Fish Filet (better eaten there with a group). Front room are good for smaller groups of 1-4, and the backroom for limited larger parties (open during dinner). Parking: Front areas, or tiny compact parking downstairs shaded garage. This place is the location for the former famous Old Country Cafe (Taiwanese food). It was one the original restaurants and reasons for the Taiwanese and Chinese community to start living in 626, and sold to anlther owne who couldn't sustain the same style and quality of food. The backroom used to be a library of mangas and such. For a group of 4 we ordered the below for dinner. We had some leftovers. And split cost was around ($98 with 20% tip was $25 per person). - Pig Ears with Red Oil appetizer $12.99 was super spicy. This was okay. It wasn't as fresh. - House Boiled Fish Filet $18.99 is mala numb spicy. This is a popular dish to get here. - House Special Braided Pork $16.99 is herbal in taste. I love that! - Vinegar shredded potatoes $10.99 - Chicken Fried Noodles $11.99 (cause House Special fried noodles $11.99 were sold out). If it was just the 2 of us, these are also items we would regularly get: - Braised Intestine Rice or Noodles with pickles $15.99 - Braised Pork Rice or noodles $15.99 - House Special Braised Beef Noodles $15.99 - Spicy Beef Tripes Appetizer $14.99 - Garlic water spinach $11.99 - Shredded Napa Cabbage $11.99 We've tried other items too - Fried Rice Cake Dish $11.99 - Other rice and noodle dishes. Etc. Items we have not tried but will get next time, House Special fried noodles $11.99 (since it was sold out last time). Garlic Cucumber $6.99 Sweet and sour jelly fish $8.99 House Special Tofu Skin $8.99 We love getting takeout from here. Its easy, and they supply easy to eat out of containers with nicer utensils. read more

We just went to a birthday brunch here & it's my first time here so I thought they might just be a dumpling house. Boy was I surprised to find a fully decorated private room for the party! They served a banquet style coursed meal & I was incredibly impressed. Not only was the service on point, the food was absolutely delicious. The chicken legs, duck, honey walnut shrimp, lobster, and the lions head soup were all stand outs! Parking was accessible too! We all want to do birthdays here now read more

I had to bring my family and they fell In love with this spot. The braised pork belly was super tender and flavorful, a very hefty portion was given which pairs well with the rice and pickled veggies. The spicy beef noodle soup is still my favorite item it is consistent, meat is always tender and broth is flavorful with a kick. I ordered other items not pictured such as spicy wontons and the signature rice which was very good. The only product I would recommend passing on that I've tried is the sweet and sour pork ribs as there was barley any meat. Service was quick as always and restaurant was clean. read more

We came here for one thing and one thing only... the beef noodle soup! My first time trying it and what an experience it was. You could smell how fragrant and flavorful the broth was, the noodles were perfectly chewy, and the beef was tender. The broth was nice to sip on where it didn't feel too heavy. I'm glad my first experience of beef noodle soup was here at Luyixian. read more
Small shop tucked away in a tiny plaza, def hole in wall vibes but the food is delicious. We always get the braised pork rice plate, it comes with pickled veggies, egg and cabbage. We've tried the intestine rice but wasn't a huge fan. Their cold appetizers are great, we like the beef tripe the most. Their portion size is pretty big so I suggest ordering a different entree to share if you're dining with someone and want to try multiple things. One of our go to restaurants when we want something comforting and fast ! read more
This is def one of my favorites in SGV - loved their beef noodle and braised pork rice. Their braised pork rice was so satisfying and filling. It had chopped chili and pickled veggies with the meat braised to perfection. read more
In a busy area so it can be tricky to find parking, but the plaza has a small parking area. Came on a Sunday around 1:30 PM for lunch and waited about 10 minutes, they were very busy. We got the braised pork rice and dandan noodles, everything was delicious! The braised pork was soft and flavorful and paired well with the mustard greens, the noodles were springy and just spicy enough. The portions are very big for a very reasonable price! read more

The food tasted standard but everything was quite oily. The beef noodle soup was unimpressive. The soup base was decently flavourful but the noodles were on the softer side and the beef chunks were a bit tough. The braised pork rice was very fatty and the rice was oily as well. The best things on that plate were the chopped peppers that helped alleviate the greasiness of the rice and the fatty pork. The restaurant was also small and somewhat cramped, but service was fast. read more

Stopped by here after a round of Golf. Had this place bookmarked after watching a foodie on IG recommended for too beef noodles in SoCal. Man it did not disappoint. The Spicy Beef Noodles hot the spot. Noodles are yummy with nice consistency, broth is flavorful and a nice amount of spice. Also had their Red Oil Dumplings also fire. Flavorful, fresh, and the chili oil and peanuts ties it together. Place is small, fee tables in shopping center with limited parking. Staff was nice, but does look like most of their cliental are locals and usually chinese speakers. Either way def recommend this place if you are craving for some spicy beef noodles. read more
Ordered the braised pork rice and the braised pig trotter noodle soup with a side of vegetables with mushroom to share. Food was decent and delicious. The braised pork rice comes with a bowl of soup. The chopped chilis really add some spice to the meal. Would recommend looking for something quick to eat. One thing that I have to say is the parking space is very small. There is underground parking but the layout is pretty strange. And after you are done eating your meal, there is no passcode provided to open the door to the stairs leading to the underground parking. Good thing there was a group of 3 people standing nearby and one of them helped us open door. A bit strange but it was ok, otherwise you would have to walk down the area where the cars go in leading to the underground parking. read more

We ordered the braised pig trotter with chopped chilis over rice, braised beef noodles, and tofu skin with cilantro to share. Our favorite was the braised beef noodles--the beef was very tender, the noodles had a great chew, and the broth was full of flavor. Star anise was the dominant note in the broth, which we enjoyed, though it might be a bit strong for some. Service was professional and efficient. Parking was manageable in the ground-level lot, though the spaces were a bit tight. FYI there's additional underground parking as well. read more

I enjoyed my dinner. First time here. The place is small but cozy and comfortable. It felt like a private nook. The waitress and other staff were friendly. I ordered a few things: vinegar potatoes, peanuts, quail eggs, green tea, pork belly with rice, and spicy beef soup. I liked everything, and the portions are good. I enjoyed the potatoes; they were warm with a perfect chew and tangy flavor. The quail eggs were lovely, poppable bites - I like quail eggs because they are mostly yolk. The pork belly was very tender. The green tea was fragrant with jasmine, so lovely. Nice little place. read more

This place is definitely a hidden gem in Alhambra. I ordered their pork and rice lu rou fan and beef noodle soup and it was so delicious. The pork was super tender and flavorful. The soup was also very flavorful and portions are big. They also gave free chicken soup which was nice. The store was pretty small and service was great. I'd definitely come back! read more

I liked the braised beef most, a solid hearty flavor and melty meat. Napa cabbage and mushroom (actually bok choy) next with great garlic flavors. Braised pork was good but I felt the beef had a slightly better flavor and texture. Hainan chicken is pretty similar to other places but without lemon grass rice (pretty much everything came with same rice and sides) Taro drink was from a mix. Parking underneath. May not speak English so can point or Google translate. Kind trendy music and space and Taiwanish read more
One of my new favorite restaurants in the SGV. We walked in on a weekend around dinner time and there was no wait. Ordered Pork intestine noodle soup, pork elbow rice, and quail eggs. Everything was perfectly braised, so delicious, and so affordable. As a cabbage hater, even I loved the cabbage in the pork elbow rice. I can't wait to come back! read more

Been meaning to try this place for some time and finally did. It took over old country cafe spot. IYKYK. Parking is limited, but there is underground parking, but i've always been lucky enough to park upstairs. Small hole in the wall joint but pleasantly surprised with the food. ordered 3 items and will be back to try other dishes. spicy and sour noodle rice noodle soup, not spicy but decent flavor, wish they did a dry version of this. cumin lamb over rice, had to question this one cuz it tasted and looked like beef, but after eating it some more, it was indeed lamb. Wish it had more cumin flavor and it was just the lamb w/ no rice, but that's only cuz i don't really eat rice :) house special boiled fish was probably my favorite cuz there was clear noodles inside! pleasantly surprised with the addition of dong fen, my fav! and also it wasn't as oily as other places and did not have the pepper corns that we usually pick out. read more

I was craving beef soup, so found this place on yelp. We had braised beef soup, the soup was good, but wasn't that great. The restaurant is cute small, the parking is very small. We saw one car scratched of its one side really bad, as he was trying to turn into the parking space. read more
We got the house special braised beef noodles and the braised pork rice to go. We were a little worried about the noodles because they typically dont transport well when ordered togo but we were wrong. The packing was done very well. The soup was also separate from the noodles. The beef chunks were packed with the soup. I was worried about microwaving plastic so I put the soup into a pot and boiled it. Then I poured it into the noodles that I placed into a ceramic bowl. Overall it was delicious. The braised pork rice was really good too. They give you soup yo drink in a separate cup which I found to be a nice added touch. Service was very fast. Overall I recommend this spot and will be planning to come back in the future. read more

This place was excellent. I've been here twice and have tried a few things. Beef noodle soup: 7/10. Good. Beef is tender. The soup is good and the noodles are cooked nicely. That said, the soup still could do with a bit more flavor. There is a better dish, so this would not my choice here. If I wanted beef noodle soup, I would go elsewhere. Braised pork with rice: 9/10. Extremely tender braised pork. It's very soft and the flavor is very good, but not too complex. I appreciate that it comes with a fair amount of vegetables and that it also comes with egg. For the amount of meat this gives you, it's a solid value. House special boiled fish filet: 8/10. Good flavor but definitely a bit too heavy on the chili oil. It would've benefited more from less oil. Parking was easy when we went but there's usually hardly any parking here so we definitely got lucky. It's a very casual environment, and service is friendly. I like the people here. I was surprised but this place is larger than I expected since there's another room. read more
a hearty meal with a generous portion! the braised pork noodle soup was very soothing and they gave so much that the amount i left was enough for another meal. i want to come back to try their braised pork with rice as i heard it was also very delicious. another plus was their clean bathroom! read more

Came back here and tried the wonton soup. It was excellent! I love my flavors light and delicate, and that's exactly what it was. The wontons were generous in size, with a solid amount of filling (the skin was a bit thicker than expected, but still great) and what impressed me the most was the delicate soup. Had a slight amount of kelp mixed in, which added to the flavor. So good! Also got the empty heart, vegetables, which were excellent! Not too oily, and seasoned well. Other things that we got that I felt were decent, but probably wouldn't re-order. The fish and pickled vegetable soup, the portions were huge, and the flavor of the soup was actually really good, but unfortunately, the tilapia just wasn't the freshest tasting, unfortunately. This might also be the fact that I'm just not a huge fan of tilapia in general, especially in soup. Got the pork, knuckles, too, great portion size. Overall, pretty decent, but slightly over flavored on the star anise and honestly just a bit overly tender Would love to come back and see if it's possible to get vermicelli added to this. Great service, very fast, and great value! read more
