It's a bit greasy though and I had to rely on the vinegar sauce to tone it down a bit. Liang ban noodles - thin noodles coated in loads of peanuts. Sauce is like a chili oil, soy sauce, vinegar and sugar mixture? It's very good and portion is big. Zha Jiang noodle - it uses wider noodles and I wouldn't recommend it because the noodles don't absorb the sauce at all. Excellent dim sum! We got the beef hui tou, chicken potstickers, pork XLB, and scallion pancake. Everything was great but the XLB was a clear winner. The crispy foods were oily without being overly oily, dripping grease like at some other places. We also took home a bag of frozen xiao long bao to enjoy at home. We are so excited! I went to Dumpling House recently hoping for a good meal, but left feeling pretty underwhelmed. The xiao long bao had flavor -- that was the only real bright spot -- but every single one broke before I could even lift it. No soup stayed in, wrapper fell apart. Taste was good, just... very fragile. Then the tomato egg noodles came, and wow, so basic. It tasted like something my 14-year-old could whip up at home in 10 minutes. No depth, no texture -- kind of just there. Overall: the dumplings (when they don't disintegrate) are decent, but unfortunately those breaks killed the experience. Didn't feel like cooking tonight so we decided to try Hui Tou Xiang. We ordered the following: Zhá Jìang Noodle Hong Kong Style Wontons Pork Hock Pork HuiTou (8pcs) Pan Fried Pork Bun Pork & Crab XLB Pork & Leek Pancakes Steamed Vegetables Although the flavors were decent. We didn't quite have any favorites. The fillings for the Pork & Leek Pancakes, Pork HuiTou, and Pan Fried Pork Bun were good but it was too doughy, wish the dough was done thinner. I liked the wonton soup but then the sesame oil and seaweed overpowering the soup. My least favorite was the Pork & Crab XLB, which I thought would have been the best, lacked crab flavor. The steamed veggies, Pork Hock, and Zhá Jìang Noodle were just okay as well. I think if I didn't have better dumplings, meat pancake, and wonton soup somewhere earlier this week, I would have enjoyed this more. Went there for late lunch and this was the first time I had the place after passing by it so many times. The portion size is good for me and so is their prices. I absolutely loved this place! I would definitely go out of my way to come back to this place for more dumplings! We came to visit another establishment in the same parking lot, but we ended up here since there was a wait time at the other place. When I walked up, there was literally no line, but I must've been lucky because as soon as I ordered shortly after the line started. The two girls at the front were helpful as I don't know the names of all the dumplings or what's inside and they helped me decide what I wanted. Anytime dumplings are involved, I always end up buying a variety since the family always wants everything. If you are from this area, you have no idea how lucky you are to be near this establishment. Small little shop where 6 people take up half the restaurant. Good service, attentive staff. Who brings out chilled glasses? For a small mom and pop that's crazy 5 star quality service. Came for a dinner with a group of wonderful friends! Parking was a bit difficult so we parked on the streets, we also saw a sign that said additional parking in another plaza nearby. The place is actually really small! Around five tables and seating? The menu isn't really long so it's easy to order quickly and I'm glad once we order the food comes fairly quick. We ordered some dumpings, pork Xiao long bao (XLB), shumai, scallion pancakes, sesame noodles, and potstickers. The boiled dumplings can be confusing since they all look the same. The shrimp sui mai is mu favorite, I think because it didn't contain ginger. They also gave us a bowl of ginger.... The sesame noodles are served dry and really good! You have to blend it well and make sure all the sauce is in because it's really thick. After that we ordered more since there's 6 of us so we got pork short rib noodles, chicken and cilantro dumplings, and pork XLB. I preferred the chicken and cilantro dumplings as well, very refreshing and tasty. They also had canned soda which also includes Diet Coke (the menu doesn't show Diet Coke). Still a good spot for Chinese comfort food and dumplings. There's about 10 tables give or take and comfortable seating. We had from order of most to least favorite: - pork hui tou: this is the specialty of this place and they still a good job with the crispy outside shell - three flavor dumplings: this is surprisingly pretty good and a solid dumpling choice with the shrimp inside - sesame noodles: very flavorful with the sesame sauce but note sharing is not easy at all given how long the video is - scallion pancake: unlike other places, this is fried to a crisp and much thinner. A unique spin on the usual but the downside is I can tell they used older oil on this. - xiao long bao: I am unfortunately less of a fan of thicker dumpling skin, so this was my least favorite. I saw this place on my insta and I had the opportunity to stop by. It's in the same plaza as bonchon, Paris bakery, and nem by summer rolls. Parking is tough here but I got lucky today. There's street parking too. Got to go. Had the pork and beef hui tou which are like long eggroll shaped dumplings. Very good with the black vinegar and chili sauce they give. You can do half half if you want to try both which I did. Then I also had the soy bean paste noodle which is essentially zhajiang mien cold. Pretty good as well. Overall glad I tried it. My partner really wanted fish dumplings and a friend had recommended to check this place out. There's not many places that do fish dumplings and I was curious how it was going to taste. The portions were good sized and everything tasted something so good. I regret not trying this place a lot earlier. I would say this place is a hidden gem. It's located next to Old Ferry Donuts, so desert is baked in. (Sorry.) Wanted some comfort food so decided to come here. It's located in the same plaza as Paris Baguette and Old Ferry Donut. Dinner on a Friday night was a little crowded not not too long of a wait. They only have about 7 tables inside so more of a cozy place. Nice staff and empathetic. There was an issue with one of our dishes and they made sure to take care of us for it. They have a small paper menu that you check off, kind of like those you get at some dim sum restaurants. We ordered the pork Hui Tou fried dumplings and they have a unique rectangular shape, not what I'm used to. The skin is thicker and chewier and filling is sorta dense. Spicy dumplings wasn't exceptional but taste okay too. Spicy mixed noodle was served cold and had a vinegary base. It has a light crunch with the peanuts. Pork hock noodle soup is served with pieces of cold pork hock (and they tell you it's cold, so no surprises). I like warm food so I just stuck the pork in the soup for a while and watched the meat fall apart. I think my favorite was the scallion pancake which was airy and very crispy. read more

Hui Tou Xiang has become a go to spot for my family to get take out at! We typically always order the vegetarian leek pancakes and pork Hui Tou. My parents particularly like the vegetarian leek pancakes so we typically get 2 servings of those. Each serving has 8 pieces. I like those as well as the pork Hui Tou which also comes with 8 pieces. Their dumplings/pancakes are quite delicious and full of flavor. Service is always quick and efficient. I've been here multiple times and ordered to go and just waiting for it to be ready or I've called and came by to pick it up. If anything, parking is the biggest hassle here because the plaza can get crowded with all the variety of restaurants here. Ambiance is very chill and relaxed. It's pretty family style and cozy, but not somewhere for date night unless you're looking for somewhere very casual. It looks like you can dine in, however it was closed for dine in for awhile. There is not a lot of juice inside the bun. The vegetarian leek pancakes taste OK. The filling is good but the dough outside is not crispy. Both came out quite greasy. It's a quaint little shop, but I never see it very busy. I mostly see takeout orders or people buying dumplings, wontons, buns, etc. Their three flavor dumplings are my favorite. We've tried many frozen dumpling spots but this one is by far the best flavor. There is egg in it though, whereas their other ones do not. We always have a bag of frozen ones at home. When we are in the 626 area we always make sure to stock up on them. We've tried the other frozen dumplings here, but their 3 flavor one is by far the best. It looks like they're open for dine in and not using the plastic takeout boxes anymore like before during the pandemic. Since our babies have allergies we check with them and they helped check the chef to see what we could get. Parking can be a little challenging sometimes in this plaza. read more

LUNCH IS SAVED! They're finally doing in person dining again. It's been more than a minute since I got to eat here. While the food is always delicious, it just doesn't hit the same after a drive home. Being ass in seat and getting to eat right as it comes out is just a completely different experience. The restaurant is, in a word, quaint. You're literally in a box chowing down on some authentic Chinese cuisine. It reminds me of some of the hole in the wall places I ate at in China, but much cleaner. If your main goal during a meal is to eat some delicious food, this is where you want to be. I liked the tomato egg I ordered so wanted to try more items. The parking lot is free and can get crowded. However upon entering, there is space to sit but it's essentially take out only. They also don't have water for people sitting, you need to buy a bottled water. Food came out in to go containers piping hot and still tasted good. I got the chive pockets again and another noodle. A few here and there tables if you want to eat at the restaurant; everything is served in takeout containers. Their Hollywood restaurant (second location) has a nice full bar and a cozy beautiful setup for dine-in. I do love this flagship location because it's easy-peasy for takeout pickup and I can buy frozen dumplings by the dozen for the family. Payment: CARD and CASH. I heard about Hui Tou Xiang on a food documentary and I was so intrigued I bookmarked them for an opportunity to go with my boyfriend. We called in advanced for a pick up. The parking lot is really tight and poorly designed. On the bright side, the food was ready at our arrival. We shared their namesake, the Pork Hui Tou ($12.99), Pork Xiao Long Bao ($11.50), and a Stewed Beef Noodles ($12.99). The food was safely packages and they use really quality containers. My boyfriend asked for sliced ginger for the xiao long bao. They went and got a small container, and it was pleasant opening to see that there was a lot of ginger and it was generously packed. Now the moment I was waiting for since the viewing of the documentary, that pork hui tou. As I bit into it, it reminded me of a pan fried dumpling in texture. The filling was sweet, the exterior was soft and crispy when eaten fresh, not so great as a leftover but that's fine. The xiao long bao was a bit disappointing. So soupiness at all. The skin was on the thick side. The filling had a nuttiness, maybe sesame? Not sure. The stewed beef had good noodles and really soft beef, but the broth was lacking for my taste. I definitely wouldn't come here for only the soup. A mostly enjoyable food adventure. If you have not tried a hui tou before, I recommend you check it out for yourself!
