I was feeling sick after a long drive, and while looking for somewhere to eat, this came up! I've not been here for over 15 years where I was very young when I came here. The personnel were nice even though I was really bad at Mandarin and needed things repeated. It is definitely bustling and loud here, but I like the atmosphere - it makes your morning feel more upbeat if you are still waking up. Also the food overall was as awesome as I remember. The sweet potato porridge is still unlimited and nice and hot without being scalding. The prices did go up compared to 15 years ago (of course) but it definitely is unique to make it worth it when everywhere else serves pretty heavy food. They have both heavy meat foods to vegetables to vegetarian meat to cater to different tastes. We ordered 6 different dishes and they were all spot on and awesome. I couldn't recommend one over others as it is very much individual tastes.

Whenever I'm not feeling well, this is one of the first places that comes to mind. Their food is comforting, flavorful, and always hits the spot. The prices are on the higher side, and the portions are a little small for what you pay, but the quality and taste make up for it. During lunch, they have a great special: a 3-item combo for $18 or a 4-item combo for $22. If you dine in, you get all-you-can-eat steamed rice and pumpkin porridge, which is a nice bonus and makes the meal much more satisfying. If two people want to share just one combo, keep in mind that the rice and porridge are charged separately per person, at around $3.75. Overall, it's a place I keep coming back to whenever I want comforting Chinese food, especially when I'm feeling under the weather.

Free sweet potato porridge! Almost like fast food but can dine-in for free porridge. My mom been craving for it. And you can get refills on it too. I tried their xo sauce fried with green string beans and its so delicious and tasty! Must come again next time.

Good food. The service was kind and helpful. Ordering was a bit confusing but we were able to work it out. The decor is cozy and they do a good job keeping the place clean.

Nostalgia, haven't been here for so long! Just as I used to remember it! The staff is super nice, the place is clean, and they have all the food we used to order. We always get their 3 cup chicken , bamboo and spicy pork! The highlight is eating the porridge with the Yam inside! Happy to return and will be back soon!

I don't know why it took me so long before I tried Lu's Garden, I've had this placed bookmarked for years! They have two sides: one side for dine-in and another side for already made items to-go. There are so many to-go items to choose from. Each dish is priced differently and they have all the prices on the menu card. Prices are fair for what you get. Every dish was a hit for me - full of flavor and very well made. Don't skip the yam porridge! It's $2.50 for a small or $5 for the large. The porridge has the perfect consistency and goes very well with all their dishes! Service was friendly and efficient! The parking lot can be a pain during busy times because there is limited parking.

One of the best comfort-food spots in the SGV! Lu's Garden consistently delivers delicious, hearty food, quick and friendly service, and great hours that make it an easy go to any time of day. Everything feels comforting and satisfying without the fuss. Definitely a spot worth coming back to!

This place is great for comfort food. The service can be off sometimes but for the most part they get their job done lol. Theres a to go area and also a seating area that's pretty good to fit maybe 15 parties. Parking can be a bit difficult since it's a small plaza. Food: Eggplant 8/10: this is always my go to dish here. The flavor is on point and it's great w the porridge. Only downside is that the skin of the eggplant can be hard sometimes so I peel it off and just eat the inside. But the flavor is def there for me. Mapo tofu 7/10 your basic mapo tofu. Minimal numbing spice to it which I like. Tomato egg 8/10: another great comfort food. Flavor is good but can be a bit more tomato-ey maybe a bit more ketchup to bump it up a notch? But I still enjoyed it. Braised pork with egg/ 7/10: they can def braise it more so that the meat is a bit softer, but again I still enjoy the flavor. Overall I find myself coming back, maybe bc it reminds me of my childhood I would come here w my parents. Nostalgic vibes lol. FYI: they automatically charge for porridge/rice if u sit down to eat there. $3 a person.

I had a wonderful experience at this Taiwanese restaurant. The food was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with great attention to quality. Every item we ordered was delicious and exceeded expectations. The portions were generous, making it an excellent value for the price. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and had a pleasant atmosphere. Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience, and I would definitely return and recommend it to family and friends.

Authentic Taiwanese food. Very flavorful and the servers are friendly! Will come back again :)

I have been coming here since I was a kid. The food is always amazing, and consistency is always solid. I've heard that they definitely keep the food fresh and toss out old batches to maintain quality. I'm always so impressed and reminded of why I keep coming back!

They opened and closed the door for us which was a nice touch because it was busy inside. We ordered the pork ramen, pork buns, and pork soup dumplings. On to the food! Pork Ramen: 3/5 They give you a hefty amount of noodles and pork. They use a thin noodle here which pairs well with the broth. I truly do believe this was around average for ramen as the flavor in the broth was not as strong or savory. The highlight of the entire entree was definitely the pork, which was tender and flavorful. I probably would not order this again. Pork bun: 5/5 The pork buns were soft and fluffy, almost too good looking to eat. There was the right amount of soup and meat inside that made for a wonderful bite full of flavor. Not dry at all. Would recommend ordering this if you visit. Pork Dumplings: 5/5 The star of the show, the dumplings. They were soft and just like the buns, they had the right amount of soup + meat which made for a delicious bite every time. My toddler even ate some and she's usually super picky about meat. Overall, I'd definitely recommend coming here for the other noodles, the dumplings, and buns. You can skip on the ramen. I would 100% come back here to dine in. Quick note that parking gets full pretty quick here.

Since my husband and I were in the general area, we decided to get a late dinner on a Saturday night. We walked in around 8:45 pm and were acknowledged by an employee after waiting for maybe 5 minutes asking if we would like a table. But the strange thing was that I had told the the employee who acknowledged me that I wanted a table for 2, he didn't sit us. He looked like he was trying to clean the table but then just walked away... but luckily another employee saw us and asked how many for a table. But anyway, after looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: A11: Fish Siu Mai with Rice Roll, $13.99 prior to tax- I ordered this dish, which was plenty for one person (this dish is found under the appetizer section of the menu). I actually really love rice noodles and also fish siu mai so this was a great combination for me. And the peanut and soy sauce mixture poured all over reminds me of when I had freshly made rice noodle in Hong Kong many years ago. But my husband would prefer the rice noodle not to have any of the sauce (or on the side so he can maybe just dip it if he wanted to). I think this dish could use less of the peanut soy sauce mixture too but I still overall really liked this dish. D9: Grilled Pork Chop with Black Pepper Sauce, $16.99 prior to tax- This dish comes with your choice of either steamed white rice or noodle. My husband decided to have rice. He thought the pork chop was delicious and perfectly cooked. He also really liked the black pepper sauce that he picked to go with the pork chop (I know you can also pick a mushroom sauce but I don't recall if there was a 3rd sauce you can choose from or not). Portion wise, this is more than enough for one person since you are getting 2 pork chops. This is actually one of my mom's favorite dishes to order when she goes to any Hong Kong style cafes too. ----------------------------------- (Total= $34.23 after tax, prior to tip) Service was minimal. I spoke both Cantonese and English (well actually my husband spoke English and I spoke in Cantonese. I am just trying to make myself speak Cantonese more) so you shouldn't really have a problem ordering here. I really like the food and I am glad this place does open late. And it was pretty busy as time progressed while we were here. We also saw a few large groups come in and the staff moving quickly to put tables together to accommodate these big groups. Overall, we had a positive dining experience and would come back.

Among the four of us, we ordered: - Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) - Biang Biang Noodles: least numbing of the noodle dishes we ordered. If you LOVE carbs and not a lot of sauce, this one's for you! - Dandan noodles: this thin noodle dish is slightly more numbing than the Biang Biang noodles, but still bearable and tasty. - Chongqing Special Noodles: most numbing of the three! I had to pause eating this a few times as it was getting a little uncomfy! The noodles are side but thinner than the Biang Biang noodles. I liked that we ordered noodle dishes each with different noodle types, flavors, and spice levels. The Biang Biang noodles were respite from the Chongqing Special Noodles, while the Dandan noodles had the right amount of peanut flavor and "mala."
