It's been 6 years since I visited so wanted to try it again. Stopped by for lunch since I missed the breakfast special menu. Beef stew with wonton (3) in soup with egg noodles $15.95. It was a medium size dish which was a little disappointing but shrinkflation is real and it only gets worse from here. This was probably one of the better beef stew and wonton soups I've had in the SGV. Flavorful and not msg forward like majority of the HK cafes here. Noodles were clean and salt on point. I'd get this again.

Alice's Kitchen is one of many Hong Kong style cafes in the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) area and this is one of two locations for Alice's Kitchen. This flagship location closes at 10 PM whereas the other Temple City location closes at midnight. Our party initially walked into the wrong neighboring restaurant, but luckily our party did not end up ordering anything after realizing the mistake and just walked out. [Parking]: The cafe has a small and free designated parking lot, but I ended up parking on the residential street just a block away from the cafe. There is a Hong Kong cab parked right next to the entrance to take pictures with. [Atmosphere]: Our party came here at 9:30 PM on a Saturday and the restaurant was completely empty. The service was alright and nothing to write home about. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are #8 - #11 French Toast, #99 Spicy Shredded Pork with House Special Sauce Lo Mein, #152 Soy Sauce Chow Mein, and #170 Spicy Minced Pork Rice. Our party ended up just ordering our comfort food rather than going for the top highlighted items. *** #154 Beef with Dark Soy Sauce Flat Rice Noodle (aka Beef Chow Fun - $15.75): The noodle hit the spot and tasted better than the beef chow fun from Hong Kong Cafe in Monterey Park. #189 Baked Pork Chop in Tomato Sauce ($14.95): The dish was surprisingly good and tasted better than the one I had at Hong Kong Cafe in Monterey Park. *** A solid A-tier Hong Kong comfort food spot. I can see this as one of my go-to restaurants if I am looking for consistent and delicious food without having to worry too much about ambiance.

Yum! I need to come back for breakfast ASAP. We got the HK Noodle Soup, Steamed Flour, Pineapple Bun with butter, and Ovaltine French toast. Everything was so tasty. The food came out very fast & the staff were friendly and efficient. I got there at 12pm on a Sunday and there was a 5 minute wait for a table, not bad at all! Alice's Kitchen has a dedicated parking lot but there's plenty of street parking.

I almost forgot about this place since it has been closed and open. This location is closely tied to Alice's Kitchen in Temple City. I tried the breakfast this morning and it wasn't disappointed. Although the menu is a bit different from it still has a lot of choices. This morning I have spare ribs congee and rice roll. The items are delicious. The portion was generous. The service at this place was polite and attentive. I saw a couple of familiar faces since some of the TC Alice's Kitchen employees are there.

Very delicious, no frills, Hong Kong breakfast spot. The service is quick and food also comes out quickly. I got two different congee (porridge) breakfast combos to share. I got the pork & century egg and the dried vegetable. The portions were large and packed with ingredients. I think that two people could very nicely share one combo, as it is a large portion of food. I also got a pineapple bun, which I waited too long to eat because the butter had melted. Still pretty good.  I like this spot for a quick, filling, and comforting Asian breakfast.

This was my first time trying a Hong Kong-style café, and overall it was a fun experience. My friend and I were welcomed in and seated promptly, and they brought out menus along with bowls, plates, and utensils right away. The vibe of the restaurant was really unique, decorated with movie posters and Chinese music playing in the background, which gave it a cozy, nostalgic feel. I was actually hoping to try their pineapple bun sandwich, but it looks like it's no longer on the menu. Instead, my friend and I ordered the egg and pork congee with a cup of their milk tea. The food came out piping hot. I dressed my congee with chili oil and white pepper, and it hit the spot. The texture was just right, not too thick and not too watery. One congee order was good for two people! The meal came with Chinese donuts, which I haven't had in a long time. The food was solid and comforting, though it didn't totally blow me away. By the time we were finishing up, the café had filled up quickly with a steady stream of customers, so it's clearly a popular local spot. I'd come back to try some of their other dishes next time. Just a heads up: there's a $25 minimum to pay with a credit card, so plan accordingly.

Alice's Kitchen in Monterey Park is a hidden gem Hong Kong cafe! Come for lunch or super early dinner, and definitely get a baked rice and a pineapple bun egg sandwich! You seriously can't go wrong with any of the proteins for this. And if you need a pick me up, the HK milk tea hits the spot and wakes you up! Service is a little brusque but courteous. There's seating outside and inside, and a parking on the sides of the restaurant.

New owners. They're cool. Food is good. Get that HK style craving. Can get pretty busy. That's half the fun.

11/24/25 - I ordered the Daily Western Breakfast ($14.25), which is only available until 11:30 am. I got it with Satay Beef, flat rice noodle, toast, and a hot hong kong milk tea. In the future. I think egg noodle would have paired better with the satay beef. I wanted the pineapple bun but they were out of it for the day so I got the toast. Jam packets were provided but I put the scrambled egg from the soup on top of the toast instead. We also ordered a peanut butter french toast for the table. I'm not sure how much it cost but it was really delicious and I would order it again! Our party got there around 11:20 and were immediately seated. The employee was kind enough to let our friend who showed up after 11:30 to still order from the Breakfast menu. We noticed that when it got to noon/lunch time, there was a constant line outside to be seated. Rating: 3.75

    ribeye Soy Sauce Chow Mein
    Reggie R.

Came here on the chinese new year. Me and my family are looking for some dimsum place or any chinese place we can dine in because it's the chinese new year. While driving, saw this cantonese restaurant and it was packed with customers. Told my family maybe food here is good because there's so many customers dining in, so we gave it a try. We were seated immediately and order taken. Their menu are extensive and so hard to decide what to get. Because we were undecided which ones to get, we kinda looked at other tables to see which dish people are ordering Haha funny! So we finally decided to get the ribeye sizzling plate, ribeye fried rice, chow mein, fried fish fillet, fried salt and pepper shrimp, and the corn and chicken soup. We are glad we stopped by and tried this place because they were all delicious! Among those orders, the ribeye sizzler was the winner! Super tender and packed with flavor. The smokey burnt flavor of the chow mein and fried rice are on point. That's the kind of chinese food we are looking for. The fish fillet is also excelllent, not too bland and not too salty, same with the shrimp. The soup has a well balanced taste. The price is very reasonable. Big portions. The place looks like you're in the streets of hongkong with all the decorations. Place is clean enough. Staff are ok. I must say they are not the friendliest. Could have used a little smile in their faces. I guess it's their culture, they look angry, even when they communicate, they sound angry but they're not. I know because my in-laws are half chinese and well aware of their outook, lol! Oh and one more thing, we paid cash and the staff who took our payment noticed that the "tip" wasn't enough, i think $4 short, and she really run after us and made us add $4 more. lol! Could have given this place 5 stars if not for their attitude towards their customers!

Beef with Dark Soy Sauce Flat Rice Noodle
    Tiffany D.

Good food and affordable prices! The beef with dark soy sauce noodles and yang chow fried rice was delicious. The steamed rice rolls were just okay, wished there was protein or some more flavor 6/10. The ovaltine bread was alright 7/10. Service was quick and easy.

    Tiff E.

They should bring back the old menu as it was much better. Traditional Hong Kong / Cantonese Style breakfast/brunch. Service is typical of places in HK so don't be shocked. Here are some of the stuff I ate before they changed their menu: Beef Chow Fun 乾炒牛河 Pineapple Bun 菠蘿油 Salt & Pepper Pork Ribs 椒鹽排骨 Minced Pork Rice 豬肉碎飯

    Jenny P.

Easy parking + Hong Kong style cafe + efficient service. Nostalgic factor definitely hits. Ordered the filet mignon with rice deal during brunch ($16) which was very good, no complaints.

Preface:we are in a pandemic; so if I order a breakfast to-go, and I want a cold lemon tea - do I pay for the meal + $1 ice + $1 to-go cup -this seems quite steep by the time you add all this together and when half of the people are on unemployment?

I ordered last week for a breakfast combo with hot milk tea, I don't think there was a charge for cups.

I would recommend getting the salt and pepper pork chop - my dad says this is literally better than most places we've gone to. I think they season the batter, which is how its so flavorful. We also typically get the eggplant, which comes in a huge plate and comes with rice. My dad likes their curry but I'm not super excited about it. Its good, but not exciting, if you know what I mean. I would spend about 50-60 dollars and its enough food to last two people maybe an additional 2 or 3 meals, especially since most dishes come with a dish of white rice. The rice isn't great, like it's kind of dry, but its free so no complaints here.

The sweet and sour fish used to be lightly battered and nice and meaty. On my last visit, it was heavily battered and you could barely taste the fish. I'm not sure if they changed chefs, but the difference in quality is definitely noticeable. It's disappointing because I really like the staff. They're always friendly and provide great service. I did enjoy the pork siumai and shrimp spring roll from the dim sum selection. I also tried the pineapple bun, but I expected it to be softer and more moist. The portion was also pretty small. I like that most of their drinks can be ordered unsweetened, but they only offer Sweet'N Low instead of Stevia or Splenda. I also recently tried the kung pao chicken and didn't enjoy it. The sauce didn't taste like traditional kung pao sauce, and the dish had very few vegetables and mostly onions. It's unfortunate because the food quality and flavor don't seem as good as they used to be.

First, parking was so difficult!! So many cars crammed close to each other and the restaurant wasn't even full, but we parked in the street nearby. The place had plenty of seating when we arrived, spacious tables that fit our group of 16. We had a large party and split into two tables, each table had peanuts and tea, we also ordered our own bit with the same serve at the same time. We ordered our usual dishes such as corn soup, honey walnut shrimp, salt and pepper squid, sal and pepper pork chops, filet beef dish, hainan chicken and many more. The service seemed slow, the bad part is that our other table got all their dishes while we had none. It took a while before our first dish arrived which was honey walnut shrimp, it was good, a bit soggy but flavorful. We asked for rice and started eating, once most of the shrimp was gone the rest of the dishes came. They were delicious, they tasted great and had good portions. The pork chop was great fresh but soon started to get tough as it cooled. The fried squid had parts that were very seasoned and some bland. My sister in law ordered a seafood tofu dish that was the best one but we ate everything before I took a photo. We also shared dishes across the tables to try out our orders. I tried the fried crab but it had more garlic than crab! The restroom was the sad part, there was no toilet paper, and no paper towels. The women's restroom door was propped wide open as well. I had to call my sister to bring in napkins for me... Overall a great meal, we may come back if the occasion allows.

It's has a dim sum vibe where food runners wear white button ups black pants and managers wear the same with a vest and badge. The service started out really slow but once the first dish came out everything else came out. We ordered family style and I didn't catch the name of any of the dishes but everything was Soo good

Overall the food was solid but there were little things that we didn't like. My Indonesian fried rice was a bit too salty and the noodles didn't have enough satay flavor.

Additional parking spots are available in the underground garage. [Atmosphere]: Upon entry, our party could smell a lingering cigarette odor. Eventually, my nose got used to it. The overall ambiance is not quite as modern as other Hong Kong cafés like HK Macau Bistro in San Gabriel or Hong Kong Cafe in Atlantic Times Square. One TV was playing America's Funniest Home Videos while another one at the bar was showing a NBA game. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are Indo Fried Rice, Baked Pork Chop, Grilled Chicken Steak, and Beef Chow Fun. Our party actually did not order the correct chow fun on our first visit as it turned out to be a wet (aka saucy) chow fun. For the dry version, the correct order = Beef Chow Fun with Dark Soy Sauce. *** Indo Fried Rice ($13.75): S-tier flavor and definitely recommend this dish. Beef Chow Fun Black Bean Sauce ($16.20): It was basically a wet chow fun rather than a dry chow fun our party was expecting. The flavor was on point, but not as good as the dry version (aka dark soy sauce). Beef Chow Fun with Dark Soy Sauce ($16.20): This was the correct dry chow fun our party was looking for. Savory and delicious noodles, but tasted slightly greasy. Baked Pork Chop ($14.20): Very heavy on the tomato sauce with scrambled egg and cheese. The flavor profile was not bad at all. It had a solid portion and large enough to split into two smaller meals. *** A-tier or 4-star for the food especially Indo Fried Rice and Beef Chow Fun with Dark Soy Sauce (aka dry beef chow fun), but I had to bump down to 3-star due to the minor cigarette smell.

It's pretty good here and they have complimentary refills! They're known for their rice noodle rolls here and you can order them, along with their small dim sum menu, all day long. The wonton noodles here were just $13.98! They come with 5 large wontons and vegetables over wonton noodles. I always recommend adding chili oil. The steamed spareribs on steamed rice have some bones, just like the ones you find at dim sum. But there's a lot of meat in the steamed rice bowl for a single person. Free parking in rear parking lot. Entrance at the front on Garvey Ave. They have 2 entrances in front now. Left door for to-go orders and right door for dine-in.

The staff are great, communication wise, it was a good service. They don't hover around your table. They let you eat in peace then check back every now and then. We ordered several dishes and each and every one of them were tasty. We came before lunch hour so not sure how busy this place gets. Are we going back? Absolutely! This is on my list to go especially for a weekend out.
