This might be the best bun bo hue in area! The restaurant is a no-frills, straight to the point establishment that prefers to take cash but will accept card (no AMEX though). It smelled like cleaning products when we went on a cold winter evening. A placemat advertising Sweet James was laid out and I knew the food was going to be excellent. The most popular dish is the bun bo hue (#10) so I recommend ordering this as a first timer. The herbs came out sparkling clean and fresh. Not a wilted leaf in sight. The bowl of soup is a decent size, with lots of deep red colored broth. The broth has so much depth without being too heavy and was not too spicy. The fixings in this soup are classic - pork hock + blood cubes means they are doing it right. The noodles were a good texture, and there were plenty of them! I left very satisfied. We also ordered the nem nuong spring rolls and I usually don't like nem nuong rolls but these were so well balanced and again, the herbs in the roll were so fresh that I ate one to myself. Highly recommend getting any of their spring rolls as well. They do an excellent job. Parking is available in a small lot inside or street is plentiful.

Nha Trang was highly recommended for Bun Bo Hue. If I were to be honest, it was good but I was expecting more based on reviews. Soup was a bit bland. Heavier on the shrimp paste but I don't recall having any pork hock in there. Not too heavy lemongrass flavor. I did ask for extra sate which helped but still needed more spice so I asked for Thai chilis. I do like that they give lots of fresh herbs and veggies.

This cold weather calls for hot soup and Nha Trang really hits the spot!!! The pho and bun bo hue are both super good and savory, just in completely different styles. The egg rolls are amazing just DO NOT GET THE SPRING ROLLS. The spring rolls are so sad and lackluster. Don't get them. DON'T!! Bun Bo Hue ($16)-- the ONLY place I trust with my bun Bo hue!! Thick bun noodles, savory soup full of aromatics, with lots of meat slices and pork blood. It also normally comes with a pig foot but I asked for it without. Don't get turned off by the blood chunks, as it's not gamey/smelly at all here and is cleaned super well! Pho ($16)-- I think it's the best pho in the area!! Savory, full of flavor, not too oily, with lots of meat and comes with beef balls too! I think they give way more meat compared to other pho places around here. Egg rolls ($16)-- Pork and crab egg rolls!!! They do NOT skimp on the crab and you definitely taste it! There's a lady rolling them fresh in the store (she was sitting at a booth near the front) so you know it's legit! This is my favorite restaurant for egg rolls and I've ordered egg roll party trays from them before. Spring rolls ($7)-- VERY SAD. So sad. It's 90% lettuce, 1 fried stick, and the skinniest piece of nem nuong. No mint, no basil, no herbs, no vermicelli .... It's just so plain and sad. Service is typical for SGV where you have to raise your hand to request what you need. They're generous with veggies here and it's always super fresh. There's a tiny parking lot in the back (~4 spots) so you'll have to find street parking if there's no space. They have a stamp card too so request one if they don't hand you one!

Mom and pop Vietnamese spot with quick service and casual vibes - and Vietnamese soup that isn't called pho! Came for a midweek lunch - parking is a bit funky with a weirdly planned parking lot in the back - be conscious about which area you park as you could get blocked in by another car fairly easily. Would recommend parking on the street if possible. Got seated - ordered the bún bò huế along with some fried egg rolls. Egg rolls were spot on, but the main show didn't disappoint. The soup was rich and filling - with a nice kick to it. Would def come back when I'm around the area again.

My family and I have been dining here for more than 7 years now! Their Bun Bo Hue never disappoints! Comes with a lot of meats and very flavorful and spicy broth! I love the thick noodles! Food comes out quick and servers are super friendly! Their Passion Fruit Iced Tea is amazing! Super worth the price and free refills as well. It's not too sweet and very refreshing! They have a small parking lot in the back, but it's very tight. Thus, I highly recommend finding street parking! Very spacious and clean inside! Outdoor seating is also available.

One of my favorite Cozy little authentic Vietnamese food joint! Bun Bo hue and bun Bo xao here are my highly recommended ones! Always fill me up and satisfying homestyle cooking dishes. They are quick and friendly at all times. You will not be disappointed, especially when it's cold and you want a bowl of noodles in its rich flavor hot broth.

Whenever I'm craving bun bo hue, Nah Trang will be my go-to now! I was never a huge fan of this dish until my friend brought me here, saying they were known for their bun bo hue, and it certainly did not disappoint! The ben cuon was also delicious, but I was surprised to see there were noodles inside. Not a complaint, just something I wasn't used to. The restaurant and service was also alright, nothing special, but nothing to complain about. I heard it can get crowded, but when I went, there was no wait and plenty of extra seating.

I saw a IG reel about this place, so a few friends and I flew down to LA for a day trip to try this place out and of course to explore LA! The bun bo hue here was amazing! My friend even commented on how they could see the bottom of my bowl and asked if I need to order another! Their BBH isn't very spicy, but they give you chili oil in a little to-go cup. The extra chili oil really gave it an extra kick that it needed! There was also a ton of meat in the bowl also. It was a little disappointing that the pig knuckle was really thinly sliced. I was able to finish the knuckle in two bites. The two pieces of blood jelly had a nice bounce to it. I'm not totally sure if there is a parking lot because I just parked on the street out front of the store.

Phuong T.

Definitely whole in the wall spot that has a very specialized menu. I always appreciate when a restaurant tries to focus on a select number of dishes and really perfect them. I'm a sucker for a good savory broth and it's so hard to find a good BBH. Nha tran's bun bo hue is delicious, portion is good, and broth was flavorful. I also tried their nem nuon cuon, but would probably pass on it, wasn't a big fan of their nem or the peanut sauce it came with.

The pho is as good as before. I was there for Sunday's lunch and the place was packed. I ordered #10 and the egg rolls. The soup is tasty and flavorful. The egg rolls are crispy and tasty. The service we received are good and polite.

Bun Bo Hue supremacy ... and I STAND BY THIS. This place is a hole in the wall but a gem once discovered. My friend recommended me Nga Trang since I have been in search of the best BBH spot in 626... and this is forsure one of the top BBH spots I've tried here. The portion size is HUGE -- I brought home so much leftovers & it was still as tasty for lunch the day after :-) The bun bo hue broth was rich + spicy.. packed with flavor and there was a generous amount of protein in the bowl. The only thing I wish they had was shredded banana blossoms as a side/ top to put on the BBH. Adding banana blossoms is my favorite part of BBH so I'm adding this to my review as a suggestion to the restaurant :-) Service is also super quick. I will definitely come back soon whenever I crave BBH (which is literally all the time heheh)

Their Vietnamese iced coffee is SOOo good. Rich n creamy, chocolatey, hint of cinnamon rocket fuel.

Lovely, bright atmosphere with a cozy touch! The owner clearly has a love for plants--there are some impressive ones around the restaurant--and even the gardening channel was playing on the TV, which was a charming touch. We visited on a Saturday evening, and it wasn't too crowded. We tried one of their weekend specials, the Vietnamese Turmeric Noodles, along with the shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls were excellent--fresh, flavorful, and generous portions. The house special had a tomato-based broth, leaning slightly on the sweeter side. While the seafood and meat in it were great, the overall flavor was quite subtle. Service was attentive and friendly. A nice spot for a casual, relaxing meal!

Fried shrimp rolls. Very tasty!!!

Hidden Gem in Alhambra - Finally Tried It After 4 Years of Driving By!…read more I've lived in Alhambra for the last 4 years and drove past this place almost every day, always assuming it was just another hot pot spot. It never looked super busy, so I kept putting it off. Big mistake--don't let that happen to you like it did to me! We finally went in and ordered a bunch: the Spicy Beef Shank Rice Noodle, Rattan Pepper Sliced Beef Rice Noodle, Popcorn Chicken, Sesame Balls, Popping Brown Sugar Rice Cake, Fried Milk Rolls, and Fried Taro Balls. Everything was outstanding. The noodles were amazing--fresh, chewy, with high-quality ingredients you can really taste in every bite. The broths had that perfect spicy kick without being overwhelming, and the beef was super tender. My wife and I couldn't stop eating; literally everything we tried was delicious. She especially loved the Fried Taro Balls--they were crispy outside, soft and flavorful inside. The sides/snacks were all hits too: the Popcorn Chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy, the Sesame Balls and Popping Brown Sugar Rice Cake brought great texture and sweetness, and the Fried Milk Rolls were a fun surprise. Service was top-notch--shoutout to Icey, who took such great care of us. One of the best and most attentive experiences we've had in a while. If you're in Alhambra and love good food, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't go wrong here--highly recommend! 5 stars all the way.

Fantastic hole in the wall restaurant with some really delicious handmade dumplings and beef noodle…read moresoup! While it is a small place, the ambiance was great. The service was quick and our waitress was very sweet. Heads up though, our waitress only spoke Mandarin so communication with English got lost in translation, but nothing translation apps can't fix plus the owner speaks English too. The owner also came out to talk with us and we had a lovely conversation. You also can get candy when you ask for the check, which was a sweet surprise! We ordered both and the beef noodle soup was a little spicy but if you enjoy spicy food, it will not feel spicy at all. It also uses handmade noodles, which gave a nice chew and bounce, and the beef was so tender and not fatty yet still so flavorful. The egg is fried and was delicious. Apparently they also offer a side of pickled cabbage, but we finished the noodles real quick before receiving it, so I recommend asking for some. Totally recommend ordering their beef noodle soup. Then, the star of the show was the dumplings in my opinion. They weren't kidding when they said it is handmade juicy dumplings because it was pouring juice when you bite into it. We ordered the pork and pickled cabbage dumplings, and while we ordered one at first, it was so delicious that we ordered a second serving. The pickled cabbage offered a nice salty and kind of sour crunch that pairs well with the juicy and well seasoned pork. The sauce paired with the dumplings was perfect and not spicy at all, despite appearances. It was a bit tangy which also helps cut through the richness of the dumpling filling. Genuinely one of the best dumplings I ever had, and while these are boiled/steamed, you can ask for pan fry as the owner said! If you're ever unsure about what to order here, you MUST order the dumplings. I totally recommend people to come over here and try out their food! They specialize in Dong Bei food, which is Northeast China.
