They were perfectly crispy on the outside, had lots of filling inside, and came with 6 big pieces. It also had a side of veggies and fish sauce, which I love using to wrap my egg rolls. The golden delight pho had rare meat and noodles to the side, while the other toppings came inside the sizzling pot of broth. It had lots of noodles and toppings: tripe, rare beef, tendon, meat balls, and brisket. Pho was really rich in flavor. I also loved that the sizzling pots kept the broth hot the whole time. Noodles were also very bouncy, loved the texture. Beef short ribs were also very tender and full of flavor. Although it was very busy during a Tuesday lunch hour, the waiters sat us asap. The restaurant was pretty full but the food still came out really quick. Servers were really nice and attentive. They checked on us a few times. The restaurant has lots of tables and it was clean. Okay so I'll be the first to admit -- this place has been sitting right under my nose for who knows how long and somehow I never made it in. Honestly? Embarrassing. Moving on. So yeah, it's another Vietnamese spot in Rosemead. And before you say anything -- yes, it's a pho review. Again. Look, I don't make the rules, I just eat the soup. This place does something a little different though. Their thing is the earth stone bowl -- basically a heated stone bowl that keeps your broth stupid hot while all your toppings come on the side in separate little dishes. Cool concept, very extra, I respect the commitment. But here's the thing -- it was hot outside. Like uncomfortably, aggressively, why-am-I-outside hot. So sweating over a volcanic bowl of soup wasn't exactly on my agenda. I went with the regular bowl, picked two types of beef and tendon, and called it a day. First sip of the broth and I genuinely had to put the spoon down for a second. Not in a dramatic way -- just in a "okay, this is actually really good" kind of way. It holds up against every other spot I've been to, no question. But what got me was the flavor -- there's something subtle going on in there that's hard to put your finger on but impossible to ignore. The kind of broth that just works and doesn't need to explain itself. The toppings were solid, but the tendon was lowkey the highlight. Soft, chewy, not rubbery -- exactly what you want. Some places fumble the tendon. These guys didn't. Iced tea on the side, Saturday afternoon, nothing else going on -- honestly doesn't get much better than that. Should've come here sooner. A coworker who loves this place recommended it - otherwise, I would have never known about it because when I think Vietnamese food, Little Saigon (Westminster) automatically comes to mind. It was free and I didn't see any restrictions (signs). There's street parking on the main drag but I'm not a fan of trying to park or pull out when cars are doing freeway speeds on surface streets. Walked in and immediately seated. Glad I got there when I did because shortly after I was seated, the crowd hit and diners were standing waiting for a seat. I got there before the lunch crowd. It's my first time and it was on a Sunday so I can't tell you what their peak times are. Call and ask or chat with a regular. Service was find. When needed, I waved someone down. Typical service I expect from a Vietnamese restaurant. As for the food, I ordered too much. I ended up taking a bunch home, mostly the rolls. I don't like soup to go. Noodles would have gotten too soggy ... But I enjoyed it to the point I know I'll go back. The broth hit me on the first sip. It felt like a punch of flavor that woke up my taste buds in a really good way. I took several sips before putting my Pho together to start eating. At other places, I'm used to getting a portion of how many rolls were served here. I ended up eating half of each, taking the rest home. This place has some of the best bun rieu I've ever had in California, and their grilled meats are pretty tasty too! The service was quick, and the place was clean and bright. You know it's legit because there's always a lot of locals here with their families. Great flavors, big menu and a great manager. After reading the reviews, I decided to give this place a try on my only night in the Rosemead area. They had a Chinese menu and a Vietnamese menu. Honestly, it was a tough choice. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls , and the bun Bo nuong cha gio. The dishes were prepared with quality and patience. Lots of regulars in the restaurant it seemed. On this night , there were short staffed and I had to remind my server about my order a few times. The manager came out to apologize. She was a very good manager and handled things well. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. There is parking on the street as well as an underground parking behind the restaurant. The restaurant is very nice, bright, and clean. The decors were cool. We signed in to the waiting list. Waited outside and before long, we were called in and got our table. The staffs were courteous and friendly. This is a Vietnamese restaurant that also serve Chinese Foods. They have two sets of menus. One for Vietnamese dishes and the other one for Chinese dishes. Both menus offer a variety of selections. They even have Set Dinner Menu that comes with pre-set items. Have to give that a try one day. We ended up ordering the Bún Bò Huế and the Vietnamese Braised Fish. The Braised Fish did not come with steam rice, so we had to order the steam rice. For the drinks, we had the Peach Oolong Iced Tea and the 3-Colored Dessert. The Bún Bò Huế was very good. The Braised Fish was a little salty but still tasted good. The Peach Oolong Iced Tea was refreshing. The 3-Colored Dessert was very yummy. I enjoyed the sweet taste of it. There are very few Vietnamese restaurants that I've come across growing up in the SGV that offer the fermented fish vermicelli soup (aka bun mam) but Golden Delight does! This soup is so pungent that the only time I get to savor it is at home and the stink doesn't leave your home for a few days. So, it is to my delight that they offer it here during the weekdays. It is a nicely stacked bowl that has everything but the kitchen sink in it - roast pork belly, catfish, squid, eggplant, and stuffed jalapeno with fried fish cake. Very filling and reasonably priced! The only reason I gave this place a 4 instead of 5 rating is because you can only order certain items from the menu when they open. Braised pork belly with egg tasted just like something you can make at home but still tasty. Came with 3 eggs and thick cuts of pork belly. Could be more tender as some pieces were tough. The pho was ok. Broth more on salty side. Hot stone kept it hot but the beef ribs were not tender. The hot and sour soup was decent. Not too sour and good amount of catfish inside. This place is always busy. Came on a Saturday around 1:30 pm with a party of 3 and still had about a 15 minute wait. Service started a bit slow. It took a while to get water and place our order, and staff doesn't really check in much after that. The menu here is different from Golden Delight #2. This location has both a Vietnamese and separate Chinese menu. The Chinese side is more family-style, while the Vietnamese menu is noticeably smaller. They don't offer things like com tam or goi here, which was a bit disappointing. I wish they were more transparent on the viet menu and then just offer additional chinese food at this location if anything. The food is just as good and portions are just as big as the other location. The space is similar in size to #2, and not quite as clean or new, but still nicer than many other Vietnamese spots. It has that same gold-themed decor that gives it a slightly more upscale feel. Parking is convenient with street spots in front or a free 2-hour lot in the back, though it does fill up. Overall, still a good spot, but I personally prefer the #2 location for the more complete vietnamese menu and cleaner/brighter space. read more

Ordered dinner for the family to go on the vietnamese menu. Got pho dac biet, pho ga and pho bo vien along with spring rolls (that has shrimp and pork). Total was just under $80 which not out of the norm these days. Waited about 20 minutes for the food. While waiting, there's not a whole lot of room to stand by unless you hang around the register area, but the staff was kind to offer me a seat at the booth that was vacant to wait. The staff was very nice and easy to talk to and checked in with you made you feel very comfortable. The restaurant has a lot of seating and based on the menu has a lot of food offering especially for a place that serves both Chinese and Vietnamese dishes. I had the pho bo vien and the soup base is on par, but the meatball was meh. It lacked flavor and was not complimenting the soup or noodles at all. This is the reason for the two star deduction. It was an alright dish and likely would not try it again. My mother in law had the pho dac biet and she told me she was not a fan of it and prefers other restaurants pho dac biet. My wife had pho ga and she reports its a decent dish as well. So all in all it received an "okay" rating. The packaging of the to go order was a bit on the fancy side which i think is a nice touch but does not make up for the food being "okay". Would i come back to this restaurant? Probably if i am in the area but will likely try their Chinese menu and see how that fairs to their Vietnamese menu. I ordered French-style beef over red rice ($16.50), Bún riêu ($15.50), and Hainanese Chicken Thigh Rice ($15.99) for to-go. We all liked their food. My favorite was their Bún riêu (Vietnamese Crab, Pork & Tomato Noodle Soup), it was very delicious, and the flavor was rich, and it had a tangy & savory flavor from the tomato and shrimp paste. The hot broth was nicely separated into another bowl, with the cooked riêu and tofu, and then we garnished it with their fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and a squeeze of lime before eating. This was recommended by our server, the prawns were large and the sauce of this dish was average (savory with a slight spiciness from the black pepper). However, I didn't really like the noodle, it was thick but not chewy (felt like you were just chewing on flour but with no distinctive texture). I don't recommend it. The service was great but staff started cleaning early before their closing time and trying to get the customer out the door (which I do understand but kind of kill the overall experience a bit). Been here twice now. The most recent time I came was cause a friend was craving their fermented fish soup. Sounds less appetizing than it really is. It didn't have as fermented of a smell as I thought it would like with stinky tofu. It was ok, kinda salty. I got the hot and sour shrimp soup. The standard is catfish but I prefer shrimp. The small size is great for sharing so even after drinking three bowls, there was still plenty to share and take home. They were not skimpy on the shrimp either. It is just a soup so if you're eating that on its own, like I did, I would recommend ordering a side of noodles or rice to go with it. I got noodles cause I prefer that combo. We also got the egg rolls appetizer to share cause our other friend was taking forever to get there. I was hesitant cause it's made with taro and I dislike taro, plus it's like a cheap filler some places use instead of putting more meat. It was made the way I like with the clear spring roll wrapper and then deep fried instead of the usually egg wash egg roll wrappers. It didn't end up tasting super taro like so I would actually get it again. I didn't get it this time but the stewed catfish is always good. I wish I could make it at home. I keep saying I'll be back to try the stone pot pho but I always end up getting something else. Maybe I'll bring my kids and get multiple things. They were super organized and efficient with the wait! They were also pretty attentive since they had quite the wait outside but we didn't feel rushed at all. Now for the food, I got the Pho Dac Biet in the stone bowl and they do give you a pretty good portion of meat, but I felt that the bowl was a little small and crowded especially when I added the raw meat and noodles in (I didn't have room for my veggies) but overall it was good and clean! Golden Delight Noodles (Hu Tieu): Comforting bowl of noodle soup. I believe you can choose between egg noodle or rice noodle, either one is great. It contains a lot of various meats, including shrimp, ground pork, chashu, squid, and fish balls. This is a good option if you want something lighter, as the broth tastes nice and light. Ground Shrimp & Minced Crab Meat in Tomato Soup (Bun Rieu): A hearty noodle soup with shrimp paste, crab cake, and pork blood. The tomato-crab broth tastes sweet and tangy. The rice vermicelli noodles are smooth and slippery, a wonderful complement to all the ingredients. Adding bean sprouts to this is a must. Egg Rolls (Cha Gio Chien): Best appetizer ever. The outside of each egg roll is super crispy, while the filling inside is savory. I suggest wrapping the egg rolls in the lettuce provided, which adds a nice refreshing taste. A side of fish sauce for dipping was served alongside the egg rolls, but completely optional to use. Grilled Pork Rolls (Thit Nuong Cuon): Not as yummy as the egg rolls, but still a decent appetizer. Love this one more than the 2nd one since it has more Chinese food. 2nd location is more traditional Vietnamese dishes and more pho types. Came in on a Monday afternoon thinking oh yay! Lunch specials! Nope, came in on Columbus Day, a holiday. Doesn't count. So beware of that! Haha Anyways, we had a very good lunch experience. All the food in my opinion was very good. It came quite quickly and a portion sizes were good. It was for three people. I would highly recommend to come back here. Casual dining experience , limited parking in the back/underground (you can use street parking in the neighborhood), pricing was decent, service was good. It seemed like many of the workers speak many languages. At one point, we were speaking to one of the workers in Mandarin, Cantonese, English and Vietnamese . read more
