It's alright. They're great in some areas but fall short in others. We tried the pork soup dumplings, pan fried pork buns and beef noodle soup. The good part about the beef noodle soup was the beef chunks weren't too dry nor fatty. The noodles, however, didn't taste like the fresh hand pulled kind you'd find at other restaurants but rather the dried ones you can get at a supermarket (they tasted like the Quon Yick dry noodle). The broth isn't necessarily bland but I think it could have used more flavor. The soup dumplings had a generous filling, but there really weren't much flavors coming from the seasoning. It just tasted like pork and soup. The skin is a bit thicker than what I've seen at other places, but at least they didn't break. I wasn't a fan of the fried buns though. They were fried too crispy to a point that the skin was dry and crunchy and all the fluffiness was lost. Same with the soup dumplings, the filling could have used more flavor. The ones at Kang Kang Food Court would be the clear winner here. For the price, the portions are pretty fair. The menu is very limited, but it's very carb-focused, so it's not a great place if you're looking for alot of protein options. They don't really offer much in the vegetarian department. read more

It was the New Year's Eve and most restaurants are either closed or would close earlier. We drove around Main Street and saw this restaurant. It wasn't crowded but Yelp had some good reviews. We decided to give it a try. There was a table and the couple turned around and told us how good the chocolate dumplings were and they shared what they ordered. We browsed through the menu and decided to try the rainbow dumplings and sample each style of dumplings before ordering more. We really like the juicing chicken dumplings and put in another order. Ww tried the chives pockets and it was amazingly crispy on the outside and good filling. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate dumplings. The filling is not only chocolate filling but also filled with butter, no wonder it was so smooth. It was a very good New Year's Eve dinner. I got several items to share. I got the rainbow combo juicy dumplings and the two flavors I ate weren't that flavorful. I ordered one order of each skewer non spicy to try them all. The color of the chicken skewer looked like all fat but it was actually lean meat. The lamb skewer was very fatty. The beef skewer had some fatty pieces and it was the least bad tasting. Overall, the skewers meat quality were very poor and I do not recommend. The filling for the cartoon sweet red bean bun was good. The ears of the pig ears were tough. The ears and nose of the pig were not aligned. The eye and eyeballs of the minion looking bun were not aligned. The sweet buns were not aesthetically pleasing to look at. I was excited to try a new dim sum place near work. The restaurant appears to be clean and they have really cute dim sum signs on their windows. I ordered three items to go: beef wraps, wonton in chili oil, and shrimp & pork siu mai. The beef wrap was probably the best out of the three items ordered. In my opinion, it needs a lot more green onions and cilantro. The wonton in chili oil is a hard pass for me. The wonton filling was barely there, and the texture was extremely soft. After a couple of pieces, I decided to toss them because I didn't want to risk getting sick. For me, soft-textured cooked meat is an indication of a bad outcome for my tummy. I normally enjoy shrimp and pork siu mais at most dim sum locations, but if you're like me, sensitive to the gaminess of pork meat, it'll be a hard pass for you too. I ate one and threw the rest away. So after $40 spent on lunch, I only consumed the $13 beef wrap. Also, I ordered at the restaurant, and my order took over 20 minutes to be ready. I would have appreciated it if they had informed me ahead of time how long the siu mai would take to be ready before charging me. The explanation provided is that it takes 15 minutes to fully cook. I don't know why they are called "Dim Sum" though, this is not a Hong Kong-style dim sum place, it's Shanghainese-style cuisine. The "dim sum" they are referring to are Xiao Long Bao, Har Gow, pork siu-mai, pork buns, and sticky rice, etc. They also have Chinese-style wontons and dumplings, beef noodle soup, and beef wraps, etc. Because it's not an authentic Hong Kong-style dim sum place, so I would rather have authentic Shanghaiese-style dishes instead. I tried it with my mom on the weekend and it was full of people inside. We were seated immediately because there was an empty table. The place was pretty much like the Rice Noodle place before and they did not have much decor. We ordered my favorite XLB (Xiao Long Bao-juicy pork dumplings 8 pcs for $9.99), chicken skewers ($8 for 4 skewers), and vegetable spring rolls because they sold out of the chives pockets ($5.99 for 4 pcs). They first served us the vegetable spring rolls, the vegetable spring-rolls were pretty good. They were crispy and had many vegetables inside. The Chicken Skewers - the chicken meat was tender but they did not grill it though. They used another method to cook the chicken skewers so they were less flavorful and tasted pretty bland. The largest table can seat 4, unless they're willing to put them together. There were some interesting items on the menu, but primarily known for dumplings. Our orders: bean paste noodles, aka ja jiang mein. The sauce was great, but the noodles were soft, not chewy. It resembled spaghetti that's been in the water too long. Juicy fish XLB, a nice take on the traditional buns. Nice flavor but the amount of fish is minuscule. They really could've wrapped a bit more in there. Mala spicy pork XLB. Thinking this would be very spicy, it wasn't. That's a good thing. The flavor wasn't bad, with a subtle flavor of mala. Your mouth won't have that numbing sensation, and good even without hot chili oil. Pork & chives dumpling were also pretty good. Nothing really stood out since this is ubiquitous around the SGV, but we enjoyed it. The service was ... decent. They were nice, but in severe need of training. Our server could not engage in any short exchange of words, and usually when I make eye contact with the staff across the room, they'll walk over to check up on us. She'll see us , then look back down at her phone, several times. I finally had to waive my hand. Here, I kept looking at our server who is behind the counter. Our table wasn't cleared of plates, our water needed a refill, and we waited for the check. Still, not a bad place to visit for pretty good food. Dim Sum Dumpling House matches up in both soup flavor and bun thickness. Typically there is too much bun wrapped around the meat at most places, they're usually very thick and overwhelms the filling. We also ordered the sticky rice and pork siu mai, cuttlefish ink juicy pork dumplings, spicy wontons, rainbow juicy dumplings and salted egg custard buns for dinner. All of which were decent dumplings. I probably won't order the salted egg buns from here, there was not enough salted egg cream filling and I'm not a fan of the shredded coconut on the outside. My preferred eating method is to wait 2-3 minutes for the XLB to cool a bit, then pop the whole thing down the gullet -- the burst of hot broth (but no scoldingly hot) inside the mouth is a most satisfying sensation. No ginger or vinegar which is an unfortunate oversight. Same thing with the 'water pan fried' buns ($12 for 8 small bite-size pieces). The service was quick and the food was tasty, but two of the items we ordered were slightly different from the default item. Thus please check that the items are what you want. There are both pan fried buns and soup-filled pan fried buns. Shanghai spring rolls come in pork/cabbage and only cabbage, and the pork version is their default (while in China the cabbage only is the default). The pan fried buns had a lot of meat inside, and it was well seasoned, flavor enough to carry the bun. Perhaps a bit dry since we were expecting there to be soup inside (but we didn't get the soup version). Got the default Shanghai spring rolls with pork and cabbage. I actually liked the included meat, since it added some saltiness and made it overall more savory. The spring rolls still had the expected gooey texture on the inside. Pork and crab xiao long bao were just okay, yes there was some crab but I expect more texture and flavor. Also many of the dumplings ripped and there was no soup inside. Lamb skewers were good flavor, some pieces were fattier than others, would get again. Coconut lavas balls had coconut cream inside with sago pieces, fun texture but muted flavor. Congrats to Dim Sum Dumpling House on your grand opening! When you enter, there is a sign in sheet towards the front. I would say the wait was about 10 min to get seated. (There were two parties in front of us) All the food was excellent (other than the xlb) and very flavorful. It was a pleasant surprise that their chive and pork dumplings were marinated with a sweet sauce. There was no need to use soy sauce at all. The beef skewers were tender and was slightly spicy. The dan dan noodles were chewy and the sauce was on point. Prices are very affordable and the noodles were a good portion considering it was only $9. I was only disappointed with the rainbow xlb. The black, orange and yellow ones didn't have any soup at all. The xlb wrappers were pretty thick as well. Overall, my boyfriend and I would say it was an okay experience. The best dishes we had there were the juicy pork dumplings and Spicy Dandan Noodles. The noodles with bean paste dish was a little salty and felt like it was missing an extra "oomph" factor. Out of everything in the rainbow combo, we felt that the regular juicy pork dumpling was the best. Everything else was either still pretty similar to the classic pork XLB or a bit too dry for our tastes. The inside of the restaurant looks clean, and the little saucers they provided us with were adorable! None of us expected to be able to enjoy looking at Stitch or a cute little rabbit while enjoying our meal! From what we can tell by the menu, the presentation of the rainbow combo and cartoon buns seems well put together too. We suspect that this restaurant is still fairly new. I saw this new dumpling restaurant open recently, and when I saw that the menu had rainbow combo soup dumplings, I knew I had to come give it a try. I would say this restaurant is more dumpling house than it is dim sum. While dim sum is on the menu, the soup dumplings are really the highlight of the establishment. The restaurant is quite small, but the staff are super nice. We ended up sharing the rainbow colored soup dumplings, pan fried juicy buns, and zhajiangmian. The zhajiangmian was quite tasty.
