Only issue is the chairs are a little too small if you have hips. Service is efficient. Bathroom is clean but I had fun with it having 2 large mirrors on each wall lol The food: Spicy Dan Dan noodles: super flavorful, not really spicy in a flaming mouth way but in that really adds to the flavor way, and perfectly cooked noodles Sticky Rice with pork Sui mai: the favorite of everything we got. It's just perfection Rainbow combo soup dumplings: beef and chicken taste the same, just ok. Regular pork was good. Vegetable was really bad. Cuttlefish was ok. Spicy pork had an odd srichacha flavor but no spice Bunny shaped salted egg custard buns: really good. Not a huge place, but nice and quiet and way easier to get into than Lunasia across the street, which had over an hour wait (even though the sign up tablet said less than 5 minutes?? Why lie?). The classic juicy pork dumpling was top notch, rivaling and possibly taking the top spot among the many locales. We also tried the sticky rice chicken. The juice in these stood out to me, and I will return just for this item. Beef Wrap - ALSO DELICIOUS. I liked the beef-to-cucumber ratio, and I thought the wrap skin alone wasn't like any other beef wraps I had. Beef Noodle Soup - Solid, not salty at all! Great soup and the beef was flavorful. We heard about the grand opening and wanted to give it a try... was not satisfied at all. We came in and there was already one table there. We ordered our food and noticed how long it took for the food to come out. It was one woman serving the tables and cooking in the kitchen and one other man also in the kitchen. For the pork dumplings and pan fried juicy buns, they were pretty good: super juicy and hot. However, the wonton in chili oil was just ok. It wasn't warm when it came out. The beef noodle soup was also just ok, but we noticed how in the pictures and menu, it was suppose to include the beef and bokchoy vegetables. Ours didn't have them, and when we asked, we had to wait for them to check the kitchen and say how they were out of them. We wished they just told us in the beginning so that we could order something else. The service was the worst of them all. Both tables had to wait to ask something since both of them were in the kitchen and didn't check outside. The other table had to wait so long and even stood up to ask for their check while the lady was in the kitchen. When she came over to our table to ask if everything was ok, we answered no. Instead of asking for feedback, she just responded with an ok and walked away like she didn't care. Also, from when we walked in to when we paid, we tried to smile and lighten up the mood, but she just looked grumpy. Ambiance- Cozy little stop for dim sum. Interior is simply decorated, small but comfortable with, I think, about 8-10 tables. There is a loft area inside but I'm not sure if it is in use. I echo other suggestions to the owners to have a little music in the background as it is just a little too quiet as of now. However if you're looking for a slow paced, casual place for small groups or couples to chat - this would definitely be the place. This is a mom and pop place so expect to wait a little as food is prepared when ordered. Food - We ordered the Rainbow Combo Juicy Dumpling, Pan Fried Juicy Buns, Chive Pocket, Lamb Skewers and Coconut Lava Balls. The star was definitely the Pan Fried Juicy Buns. They were delivered to the table fresh with crispy bottoms and aptly named because it was SO juicy! Very flavorful and highly recommended. The wrapper is thinner, more like an xlb whereas the Pan Fried Bun is more breadlike akin to a steamed Bbq Pork Bun. Chive Pocket was clearly made in-house. The vermicelli egg mixture didn't look like it had as much chives as other versions but I was surprised by the big chive flavor. Unfortunately, the Coconut Lava Balls were undercooked on the inside. The balls were super crispy and perfect looking on the outside but cold on the inside. I thought the coconut sago flavor was tasty (not too sweet!) and unique though. It just needed a little longer in the fryer maybe. Since they are still in the newly opened stage, hopefully the issue can be fixed. And of course those animated characters on the sauce dishes are freakin' adorable. On the topic of condiments, don't overlook the chili-oil condiment. It is made in-house and while not very spicy it is very flavorful. Lamb skewers were a good deal at 4 skewers for $8 . Just the right amount of cumin seasoning and juicy chunks of meat interspersed with a few bits of fattiness to add richness. I would definitely go back to try the beef and chicken. For the taste and value, I'm giving this new place on Main 5 stars! I got the fish and leek dumplings, the juicy pork soup dumplings, the glutinous rice wrapped in a leaf (not sure what it would be called in English), the fried mochi log with black sugar (again not sure in English), and the lamb skewers. I would say there are soup dumplings that are just a smidge better but for the price, this is a great value. The glutinous rice in a leaf was one of the best I've had but really take my advice and separate it from the leaf before you start eating it. It's super sticky. The lamb skewers were flavorful and plumper than I thought they'd be. The mochi log things were great. The fish and leek dumplings were surprisingly my favorite thing! Overall, the food was just OK. My favorite dish was their fried rice. The flavors of the dim sum was just average in my opinion. Most of the dishes were over $10. The service was subpar. This restaurant took over where Lily's Kitchen used to be. Its name is interesting. "Dim Sum" "Dumpling House" could be two separate places. They have a few dim sum dishes (siu mai*, har gow) but not nearly enough for me to consider it a dim sum place. Most of the rest of the menu is more Taiwanese styled food. Between the two of us, we ordered a few things to try: - Juicy Pork Dumplings - Beef Roll - Beef Noodle Soup - Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai The good things here were: - Juicy Pork Dumplings - The cute sauce dish - The ice water Juicy Pork Dumplings were solid. There was soup inside. Tastes right although a hint of pepper I never notice with any other XLB. Beef rolls were okkkk. The pancake on them had a smell like tortillas which was really strange. For me, it needed a bit more Hoisin sauce as well. Beef noodle soup. I didn't realize I cared that much about the noodles themselves until now. These noodles were just not good. The texture and quality was bad. I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but they didn't have the bounce you'd want. My gf tried a bite and immediately knew what I meant. Not good. The broth itself was a bit on the light side as well, not very hearty or roasted or anything. The positive here is that it came with four leaves of bok choy whereas some previous review had mentioned it came with no vegetables. Pork & shrimp siu mai. Our waitress actually brought us out har gow instead. But we told her we ordered siu mai, not har gow. I wish we didn't correct the order. I feel like it's harder to mess up a piece of shrimp inside a wrapper. The siu mai was horrendous. Off the bat, it's already missing the yellow skin color and was the skinniest, least plump siu mai I've ever seen in my life. Sure, those are just aesthetics and cost-savings, maybe it still tastes good. Oh no. It was so wrong. Siu mai should be a bouncy plump solid mixture of pork and chunks of shrimp. I feel like you could throw a real siu mai and it would bounce off the floor. This would just splatter into oblivion. This was ...a mushy grounded mixture of dumpling filling??? With that hint of pepper from earlier as well. It was inedible if you were really looking for siu mai. Maybe inedible overall. The filling was so chopped up mushy that it probably is an insult to say it could be a dumpling filling. We didn't eat past our initial small bites of this. This siu mai needs to be revisited by the chef/restaurant. It is not accurate at all. Inside, it's a small restaurant with maybe like 10 small tables. Ambience is alright. Service was okay, not the best, not the worst. Overall, I don't see myself coming back unless I'm desperate for only the juicy pork dumplings when I'm in the area. But there are better places for dimsum and for the rest of the menu in this area so it's tough to validate coming back here. read more

I recently came to eat here last week and every dish we got was just ZERO out of ten. Like it was so shocking how bad everything was. Also, our pork dumplings were served looking orange which looked nothing like the menu, it was unexpected. The chow mein was the sallllltiest thing ever, I couldn't even swallow it. Also, the waitress was very rude and threw our straws on the table when we asked for some--which I would not have cared about if the food was good, but that wasn't the case. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. This is a family run business with a couple of locations! They make their dumplings fresh every day! In fact, they even supply dumplings to several restaurants locally! Everything is made by hand! And they make 9000 dumplings a week! First off the truffle suit dumplings are incredible and you must try them! I also highly recommend the pork pan fried soup dumpling! And their noodle dishes! Easy parking behind the back. Small restaurant, so there may be a short line/wait. There is only one person managing the tables and checks, so service is a little slow. However, she was so hardworking and did her best to handles all of the tables on her own. Noodle with bean paste -- wish they had more meat and sauce. Dim Sum Dumpling House is a mixed bag that unfortunately has a few misses along with their hits. I tried a variety of their dumpling and dim sum offerings along with their dan dan noodles. By far the best dish I ate were the pan fried juicy buns; they were flavorful, very crispy on the bottom, and exploding with soup once you bit into them. They are a must order! Another dish I enjoyed were the coconut lava balls, which were fun to eat and just had hint of coconut flavor. The dan dan noodles were also good but not anything special in my opinion. The soup dumplings were sadly just ok. The taste of the soup was good, but I felt that there was not enough meat in the dumplings. The ratio between the pork and dumpling wrapper could be improved. I was also disappointed by the pork siu mai. Unlike siu mai I've had at other dim sum restaurants, the ones here were mushy and flavorless. There was no textural or visual contrast in the siu mai and I had to have it with soy sauce and chili oil to make it palatable. Not sure if it's just a different type or style of making siu mai but I would not eat it again even if someone else paid for it. The restaurant is very small and can get busy quickly. The server was very nice and patient despite being busy with other tables and orders. I have high hopes that Dim Sum Dumpling House will improve and see success in the cutthroat 626 food scene. read more

I'm really really confused by all the high reviews here. Everything was mediocre. There are SO many options for good Chinese in the SGV and this one is not one of them in my opinion. Perhaps we went on a bad day but I was so very underwhelmed by this place. We were there at 6:30 on a Saturday and it was dead. Ordered scallion pancakes (fine but super small size and more flakes than actual pancake), soup dumplings (the crab, regular pork ones and the hot ones which were mild at best--overall flavor was not savory or satisfying). Nothing was remarkable. The "vegetable" noodles were literally plain lomein (overcooked) on a plate DRENCHED in soy sauce. As someone who grew up eating dim sum/soup dumplings in Queens/New York, I just do not understand the hype of this place.
