My family and I were running errands in Pasadena today and stumbled upon this new Thai restaurant on its very first day of opening. Honestly, we didn't expect much at first, but the cozy and inviting atmosphere drew us in, so we decided to give it a try. And oh my god, it completely blew us away! Forget about the ordinary Thai food you've had before. We ordered the Beef Nam Tok (Spicy Grilled Beef Salad), Roasted Duck Red Curry, Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew. The Nam Tok was incredibly flavorful--my husband absolutely loved it. The Roasted Duck Curry was rich and intense, and the duck itself was wonderfully crispy and delicious. The Pad Thai was perfectly balanced. But the biggest surprise of the night was the Pad See Ew. We've never seen Pad See Ew served with such massive chunks of beef before! It felt like eating a whole steak. It was worth every single penny and tasted like a solid 10/10. We will definitely be back! read more

Bangkok Cafe Vibes Hit Pasadena. Let me introduce you to DALAH, the newest Thai Spot off of Cordova and S Lake. The moment you walk in, it's chic and an aesthetic that you already know the food is gonna be lit. From cozy bright cushions, tiled maroon tables and high ceilings, this not your typical Thai restaurant. The menu is simple not overwhelming and filled with selected classic Thai dishes with an elevated flare. The classic Chicken Satay is accompanied by a fresh Thai chimichurri to cut the richness of the peanut sauce and taste is eye opening. Steak Ramen Drunken Noodles is visually stunning soy coated curly noodles, bright cuts of peppers and slices of medium rare steak makes any carnivore weak. DALAH has found a way to improve the classic Pad Thai and its genius. My biggest problem with Pad Thai are the noodles always clumping together but Dalah uses a shorter noodle so I can enjoy my pad thai and all the complex flavors. Hat Yai Wings are crisp to perfection and if you love wings, you can't go wrong. Crispy Beef Cheeks over Thai Green Curry w/ Eggplant was nice surprise and satisfied my crave for something saucy over rice but wanted texture. You need dessert to end your meal and it's so good! The @lamoon_creamery Creamery Thai Tea Ice Cream Sundae as it is topped with coco jelly and graham cracker crumble. You can't go wrong with their classic mango sticky rice as the sticky rice is warm and rich with sliced mangos, ahhh! Sooo good. Was waiting for this place to open, and we luckily caught them during their "very soft opening". The staff is kind and welcoming. The decor is vibrant and modern, and it gave us a good feeling about the food. And their food did not disappoint. Really concise but impressive menu. We had the chicken satay, crispy pork, and crab fried rice. All were great, but especially the satay. Everything felt done to a high quality, elevated without losing that authentic taste. Solid new Thai place and quite unique in their curry flavors. I love that they add a lot of coconut milk so the spice isn't the type that hits you in the face but a slow build on the green curry. The red curry in the duck was milder and more tolerable for me, while I really loved the tenderness of the duck more than the beef cheek. They are currently in soft opening and seem to be offering a free mango sticky rice for orders $50 and above. The staff was also very nice to offer a small cup of complimentary Thai tea to try as they are in soft opening. Overall I really enjoyed the food and would be curious to try more items as they build the menu for their grand opening! Menu is small and makes you want to try everything. The best was the fermented crispy pork appetizer with an addictive dipping sauce! I really loved their Pad Thai, the thin noodles they used have such a nice chewy texture, and the flavor is perfectly balanced and delicious. Their beef green curry is also very unique. The eggplant in the curry was surprisingly amazing! I normally don't like eggplant, but I couldn't stop eating it because it was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. They also serve Thai milk tea and Thai tea ice cream from L'moon Creamery, which is one of my favorite Thai tea spots. Located in the old Gozen Shun location - we came on the second day of their soft opening and they nailed the flavors! The duck curry had a nice presentation and a generous heaping of rice. I liked that the curry was rich and not watery and the duck was cooked well. The pad thai noodles are different from other places around here - they're round, thin, and tender (in a good way)! It was also nice that the bean sprouts were mixed in with the noodles instead of sitting raw on top. I also liked that the Thai tea wasn't too sweet and the mango sticky rice was nice and warm. There was Incredible service from the minute we walked in the door to their warm and spacious room, which was perfect t for conversations. We had their sensory special Pad Thai with chicken that my friend (who ate all!) was quite impressed. I absolutely loved the green curry with beef and eggplant and was so happy to have enough to take home to experience again. Excellent food. It's marketed as contemporary Thai food, so be mindful there will be some differences from what you may be accustomed to. For example, the pad thai uses a thin round noodle, and the sauce is more sweet with less of the classic sour components. That being said, I've worked in Panorama City for the last 15+ years which has a large Thai population with a Thai temple and dozens of restaurants, and the food at Dalah is still 5/5 quality. We also ordered the khao pad bhu (crab fried rice) and moo ghan tod (pork/rice fried meatballs) which like the pad thai, are different than traditional flavors but still 5/5 in taste. I noticed they had sauces in the open kitchen which I'm assuming you could request if you want a little more bite, I think asking for prik nam pla (fish sauce with chilis) for the fried rice would be perfect. Service excellent, dining area is clean, bathrooms are clean. 5 year old daughter approved as well. My only (selfish) concern is I'm certain this place will do well, and I bet in a few months it will be difficult to get a table here. read more

Ended up discovering this gem through friends of mine. The decor is very cute and it has a nice open feel with touch of Thai styling and decor. Service was top notch with our server who was very attentive and patient with our table. I REALLY enjoyed my Pad Thai chicken. It sounds super basic if you eat Thai food regularly but it had a burst of flavor with a very good balance. The lime, peanuts and filet of grilled chicken came together very nicely. The chicken pad thai was also really different from your typical pad thai that you get at other thai restaurants, probably one of the best pad thais I've ever had. I just had the chance to try Dalah, a new spot located on Lake and Cordova. It's right across from LA Fitness, but it can be a little tricky to spot at first--just look for the red door handle! The interior is beautiful and very modern. The food really hits the spot with an authentic, homemade flavor profile. My absolute favorite was the Padthai--the noodles were perfectly chewy, and the flavor was unique compared to any other Thai spot I've been to. I especially loved that it came with Kab-Moo (Thai-style chicharron); catching those fatty, crispy bits in every bite was pure bliss. Another must-order is the Moo Ghon Tod (fried pork bites). The pork is marinated so well; it's perfectly savory and umami-rich. I could honestly eat this dish every single day. The service was also lovely--the staff even brought out an Es-Yen (Thai coffee) for me to try, which was delicious.
