I can't believe an amazing Thai place opened up in Pasadena. This is one of the best Thai restaurants I have been to in a while and we are really picky! From the ambiance to the food, everything is simply amazing. Here is what I had and would definitely get again! Nam Tok beef shrimp fried rice drunken noodles Pad See Ew crispy chicken wings beef tallow fried rice
Typically drive past and have seen many restaurants come and go in this exact spot. Decided to check it out on a Sunday for lunch with a buddy. We arrived a few minutes before they opened and were seated immediately. Noticed on the door that they had limited quantities of the mango and sticky rice and were sold out of morning glory. A bit disappointed they didn't have morning glory, we ordered a few items to share. Chicken satay - Probably the most disappointing dish we ordered as the chicken really have the same texture of it being grilled. Sure it had a bit of char but the texture was more like the chicken was boiled and then placed on the grill for a bit. Grilled corn and papaya salad - Refreshing but tasted a bit different than what we were used to. The corn added a bit more texture and sweetness to the salad. Grilled chicken pad thai - The chicken served with the pad thai was good. Definitely tasted like it was grilled. It was interesting the noodles were also thinner than normal and were more like pho noodles. They clumped together and we needed chopsticks to serve. Drunken MaMa noodles - Tasty pan fried noodles and slices of beef cooked to a medium. Would definitely order again. Mango and sticky rice - Glad we asked about this right when we ordered as the waitress stated we got the only one as the mangos weren't ripe. Oddly enough, we saw a different waitress bringing out an order for another table. Pretty good but you could taste that the mango wasn't completely ripe. Will have to ask for a bit more coconut milk next time. Decent Thai restaurant for the Pasadena area but there are better ones within a 5 mile radius in my opinion. Portions are large enough to share with 2-3 depending on how much you order.
Cute spot for a date night with a really well-designed interior. The menu is on the smaller side in terms of selection, but we decided to try the blue crab fried rice and drunken mama noodles with grilled beef. The blue crab fried rice had some nice, chunky pieces of crab, but both the crab and fried rice itself were a bit bland. The rice was cooked perfectly, though, so I think it just needed a little more seasoning. The drunken mama noodles with grilled beef were definitely the better of the two. The beef was cooked perfectly--tender and flavorful. I also really liked the basil, which was lightly tossed in oil and fried, giving it a nice texture and adding some extra flavor. The mama noodles were a little overcooked and had been broken into pieces, so unfortunately I didn't get those nice, long noodle strands I was hoping for. Our order was also delayed quite a bit because they forgot about it. They did compensate us with a discount, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, they had also run out of the mango sticky rice, which was disappointing since it was one of the things we were really looking forward to trying. Overall, the atmosphere is definitely a highlight and makes it a cute place for a date night. The food had some good elements, but a few dishes could have used more seasoning and better execution.
Saw on TikTok that a new Thai restaurant opened in Pasadena, so we decided to give it a try! The interior was aesthetic and modern, great for a casual date night! Dalah is in its soft opening phase, and it's busy! We arrived around 12pm on Saturday and there was a 20+ minute wait for a party of 2. I'd recommend calling ahead for a reservation if you have a bigger group. We were able to put our name on the waitlist once we got there. Since it's still in the soft opening phase, the food came out a tad slower. The service was excellent and the waiters for very attentive. Given the hype online, I wanted to like the food more. Also, with the higher price point, we wished the portion sizes were slightly bigger. We ordered: * Pad Thai Grilled Chicken: This might be a personal preference, but the rice noodles here are really skinny, so they came out quite clumpy and missing that chewy texture. The grilled chicken was a nice touch, but it tasted very standard, like teriyaki chicken. I was hoping for more. * Green Curry Beef Cheek : There were about 6 pieces of beef on top of the green curry, and it comes with rice. The curry was super flavorful and the beef was cooked well, but there weren't any vegetables, so it felt quite pricey for what was served. There's street parking on Cordova near the residential area, or validated parking in the underground lot.
We were looking for a good lunch spot in Pasadena and saw this place. We made a resy for 1130 and were seated right away. We got the prawn fried rice beef pad see ew and thai tea. My noodle dish came out first and it took another half hour for my boyfriend's fried rice to come out. The pad see ew was ok I usually prefer a drunken noodle but their pad kee Mao only came with instant mama mi noodles (??). The beef was ok a bit tough and dry to eat and was cold on top of my noodles. My boyfriend did not like his fried rice the rice was a weird texture and grainy. Really wanted to like this Thai restaurant but we won't be back.
We came here for dinner on a Friday night. There was a line waiting and all the servers are busy serving tables. The restaurant has a casual and cozy vibe. I love how the tables are set up with partial cushioned bench seating. The menu looks good and since we ordered in family style, I believe we ordered the majority of the menu Food came out fast even though the restaurant was full. All the dishes are delicious and they had fine touches to each plate. We enjoyed all the dishes including the desserts. When we left at around 8 pm, there were even more people waiting outside the restaurant. For sure, I will bring my friends and family back for more.
The food took one hour to come out, and the portions are a lot smaller than they appear in the photos. They gave us a free mango sticky rice because of how long we waited. Either way, people who sat down way after us ended up getting their food first. The waitresses were nice, and the place is clean. The food was just okay, and I wouldn't come back.
This is a relatively new hip restaurant in Pasadena next door to another great restaurant Marina.... Opened about 3 months ago their menu seems somewhat limited but the flavors and style they make things are quite unique I would have to say.... I got here 30 minutes after they opened and about half the place was filled...I had to wait for my friends to show up so as it got closer to 6PM man the place started filling up fast! Luckily I told the waitress that my friends will be here in 5 minutes and she seated me.... Though not traditional the foods were flavorful and good...the Pad Thai used a different type of noodles I'm not used to but it wasn't sweet like a lot of places which I'm glad... Hopefully they add a few more menu items so I can try some other things there in the future!
We had reservations made on Yelp for Saturday and were seated with minimal wait. Just as we were looking at the menu, we were told that half of the appetizers were not available ( on a Saturday night) due to "trouble getting the ingredients" according to our server. I understand that they have been opened for 3 months and the soft opening concept may still apply (?) but I haven't heard this before. When the menu is small to begin with and you can't serve half of the appetizers, it's a problem. We ordered 2 typical thai dishes: - Pad thai: Served with grilled chicken, it lacked the contrast between the sweet from the palm sugar and sour from the tamarind and the fish sauce flavor was absent even if it is classically a main ingredient. The subtle smoky taste from the wok was also very faint 3/5 - Moo ghon tod: the fried pork and rice balls served with a little sweet sauce were ok ; They lacked some spices to give them some punch. As is, they were bland and the sauce served in a tiny ramekin did not save them : generous 3/5 - The complimentary mango sticky rice was the best dish of the night As others have noticed, it is on the more expensive side. As much as i would like to support new restaurants, this experience tonight was disappointing. I will follow them on Yelp and might give them a new visit. But my advice: They need to tighten the flavors specially for the pad thai as it is always considered the benchmark dish that Thai restaurants are always measured with!!
Had a great meal here. Inside is modern and simple. There's a decent amount of seating but it's best for couples or small groups. The food is great. A somewhat elevated take on Thai food. Everything was delicious. Only complaint is portions could be bigger. My favs of what we ordered were the Drunken Mama Noodles Grilled Beef and Gang Dang Red Curry Braised Duck. The Khao Pad Blue Crab rice was good too with nice chunks of crab, it just needed some chili sauce for my taste. We came on a packed Friday night so there was a long wait. Maybe come during lunch or on a weeknight to avoid the long wait. Service was great. Very friendly staff. There's a pay parking structure nearby or you can try to find street parking within a block or two.
Our group was a bit disheartened when we saw that the previous store that was here had sadly closed down. However, we still made our way to try this place, as Thai food was something that sounded really good in the area. Glad to say, this place absolutely rocks! The inside of the restaurant was very cute and slightly minimal. We arrived at about 11:45 AM and got sat fairly quickly by our waitress. She was really nice and took down our orders with a very friendly smile. After about 5 minutes, our first dish, the papaya salad, came out for us to share. The salad was crisp, refreshing, and fairly sweet, not only due to the sweet fish sauce, but also due to the sweet grilled yellow corn. I got the green curry with beef cheeks and I thought it was absolutely divine. The curry was slightly sweet with ample coconut milk, but had a kick with the dried chiles scattered throughout. I also got to try some of the dtom prawn and the mama drunken noodles. Both were also very good, but I think the dtom prawns were really amazing! I would definitely order that if I could next time. Overall, love the food here and can't wait to go back!!
Stumbled upon Dalah and was intrigued by its modern but authentic take on classic Thái dishes! They have been open less than 2 months and already a line is forming!!! People are telling their friends and through word of mouth, Dalah is already getting the recognition they deserve!! We came to celebrate a birthday and it was perfect. The ambiance was intimate and cozy with warm inviting colors and confortable seating with booth options and pillows. The food was delicious!! They have a simple menu, but all the dishes are heavy hitters in their own right. The proteins offered with the dishes are really well prepared and cooked! The beef and chicken were so tender! I highly recommend ordering a bunch of dishes and doing family style to share! There are just too many you must try! The service was great! Ploy was so lovely and we got to meet one of the owners as well! She was so sweet and told us that her and her husband opened up this restaurant to pay homage to their roots. They asked for feedback but we had no notes, all was done so well. The pad tai had great flavor and I loved the details of the fried pork skin for texture. The pad see ew had that nice char from the wok and were thick and chewy. Fried rice had great texture with large chunks of blue crab. The chicken and beef proteins were so tender and seasoned well. Highly recommend the Nam Tok! The papaya salad was refreshing and had grilled corn which is different. The green curry also had great flavor and I loved how the fried whole fish was already deboned. The mango sticky rice was perfect and came with a coconut ice cream that was the sauce for it! We all had different favorites at the table and still I need to come back out of curiosity to try the rest of the menu! Their chicken wings, grilled shrimp, pork balls and duck curry look amazing as well! What we ordered: Thai Tea Blue crab fried rice Papaya Salad with Grilled Corn Nam Tok Beef Pad See Ew with Beef Pad Thai with Chicken Green Curry with Beef Cheeks Fried Trout that was already deboned Mango Sticky Rice Huge thanks for the hospitality! I saw the mango sticky rice and was super excited to try this place. However, they had already run out of mango sticky rice even though dinner service hadn't started that long ago. That was disappointing, but it's still soft opening so I'll come back for it another time. The noodles were the highlight of the meal. A delicious new Thai spot in Pasadena, we just had to come try it out after seeing the reviews online! We've had many great Thai places, and Dalah was just added to our list. The place is small and seats out 40 people total so we had about a 15min wait on a Sunday early afternoon. It never stopped being busy as we saw two waitresses taking care of the full restaurant, both were friendly and accommodating. My family shared 2 of their most popular dishes; the beef green curry, and the beef pad see ew, along with one appetizer of chimichurri chicken satay. The chicken satay was absolutely delicious, the chimichurri was very garlicky and fresh and the peanut sauce was unusually creamy. The green curry was lightly spicy and tender, while the pad see ew was amazingly savory and the slices of beef were cooked to perfection. They offer Thai iced teas and ice cream from the local favorite L'moon, which we frequently visit for Thai tea soft serve. We finished the meal off with the mango sticky rice, it is seasonal and the mango was so ripe it tasted almost like concord grapes! Though I do wish there was more coconut milk sauce on top. Overall an amazing experience, but it does get busy and the parking is either paid in a garage lot or street only. read more

pasadena's newest thai restaurant !! it's an amazing addition to the neighborhood! the vibes are great and very aesthetic. they're still in their r&d stage with their very soft opening, but it's exciting to try out items and see if they make the menu. everything i've tried was honestly DELICIOUS! what we got: pad see ew kiew whan beef cheek morning glory mango sticky rice thai tea fresh coconut AMAZING!!! i am honestly a huge fan of dalah. the beef cheek curry was so delicious. the beef was so tender and the flavors were so good. the pad see ew was so flavorful and the beef was cooked to perfection. you MUST GET the MANGO STICKY RICE!! absolutely delicious. Finally tried Dalah in Pasadena and ordered the Nam Tok Beef to-go. This dish was really good! The beef was grilled perfectly and had a great smoky flavor, and there were plenty of fresh herbs mixed throughout. The spicy lime dressing gave it that classic Nam Tok flavor--savory, tangy, spicy, and very fragrant. Even as a to-go order, the portion looked fresh and well put together. Was waiting for this place to open, and we luckily caught them during their "very soft opening". The staff is kind and welcoming. The decor is vibrant and modern, and it gave us a good feeling about the food. And their food did not disappoint. Really concise but impressive menu. We had the chicken satay, crispy pork, and crab fried rice. All were great, but especially the satay. Everything felt done to a high quality, elevated without losing that authentic taste. Went here for a Sunday lunch with my sisters. The staff were so warm and lovely, the aesthetic is beautiful, and the food was fantastic. Not sure what the hype is about .. I called at 11:30 am to place an order for pick up during my lunch . They told me 15 minutes it'll be ready . I get there in 20 minutes and they ask me to take a seat . After 10 more minutes they said "your order is next " I'm like what does that mean I've been waiting for 30 minutes there's only one couple at the restaurant . It's dead . Dalah is an absolute gem for a Thai food lover like myself! Every dish we ordered tasted authentic but elevated at the same time. My favorite dishes were the pad thai and tom yum soup, OG classics but a must order. Their thai iced teas and fresh coconuts were so refreshing and complemented the food perfectly. Their mango sticky rice was a work of art and plated so beautifully but even more important was 10/10 delicious! Bonus points for friendly service and warm ambiance. So glad they are here in the Pasadena area, and I will definitely be back! read more

Located in the old Gozen Shun location - we came on the second day of their soft opening and they nailed the flavors! The duck curry had a nice presentation and a generous heaping of rice. I liked that the curry was rich and not watery and the duck was cooked well. The pad thai noodles are different from other places around here - they're round, thin, and tender (in a good way)! It was also nice that the bean sprouts were mixed in with the noodles instead of sitting raw on top. I also liked that the Thai tea wasn't too sweet and the mango sticky rice was nice and warm. Saw this place all over tiktok so decided to try it out. I got a beef curry and my gf got chicken satay with a side of rice. Going to rant a little, which I feel bad since staff was friendly, but I need to leave an honest review. I was really excited to try it, but the insane wait and no heads up was really off putting; at least let us know the next batch of curry would take an hour. We ordered a thai tea and that came out pretty quick. We tried it and it tasted mostly like milk with a hint of thai tea - $7 by the way for mostly ice and no refill? We drank it because the ice was watering it down even more while we waited like 20 min for the chicken satay. Then another 10 min to get the rice after we decided to ask for it since we wanted to eat the chicken satay while warm. I guess when I asked for the rice they charged me again so I paid twice to get the rice I ordered for the chicken satay lol, at least it came out within minutes after asking. Alright, we wait another 30 min for the beef curry, so 1hr total for our order. I was about to cancel it if it got to an hour, but they got it out pretty much on the hour. The flavor of the dishes were okay, no qualms about it, but I feel like there wasn't anything special about it either. TLDR: Food is decent, the wait for the food was annoying. read more

Found this spot in soft opening and it was wonderful. Each dish was tastefully made with fresh textures and no misses. The green curry was a standout, the beef was tender and the curry was so delicious my little sister almost licked the bowl. We also got the satay chimichurri which had a great sauce, nam tok beef which was so tender and yummy with a kick of citrus in the sauce, and the pad thai and pad see ew were also great. The waitress was busy but kind, attentive, and provided helpful recommendations. The ambiance was classy but with casual vibes. Recommend reserving on yelp as it got pretty busy when we were leaving. New Thai restaurant in Pasadena with amazing food, a beautiful atmosphere, and great service! I really loved their Pad Thai, the thin noodles they used have such a nice chewy texture, and the flavor is perfectly balanced and delicious. Their beef green curry is also very unique. The eggplant in the curry was surprisingly amazing! I normally don't like eggplant, but I couldn't stop eating it because it was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. They also serve Thai milk tea and Thai tea ice cream from L'moon Creamery, which is one of my favorite Thai tea spots. The combination of authentic Thai flavors, great desserts, and a welcoming atmosphere makes this place a must-try. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Here for the second time! The staff is awesome like before - the manager gave me 2 new dishes to try out alongside my pad thai order. The food was great! Very excited to have new dishes in the works as my wife and I like Thai food very much. Very fun experience to try new dishes! I also like that they adjust the lighting as the night creeps in and everything gets a bit more mellow - they have these lights aimed at the walls that give a nice red hue. read more
