Half plate meal with a side order of schmaltzy potatoes

I ordered the half plate to share with a friend. And a side order of the schmaltzy potatoes The wedge salad... was ok, but dressed too heavily. My least favorite thing on the whole plate. The pickled veggies were good- solid in flavor and texture. But not stand out yet. The rest... SUBLIME. The hummus was the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The garlic sauce and chili oil were additional stars. Chicken was excellent. The bread was ... surprisingly excellent too, in both its texture (chewy) and temp (warm). The potatoes were just as good as others described. I would definitely go back and order every single thing. But I'd ask if I could substitute something else for the wedge salad ... or have the dressing on the side.

The chicken and schmaltzy potatoes at Kismet are must orders. They serve an excellent rotisserie chicken and, as is natural, the potatoes are excellent as well - flavorful and crisp with roughed up edges. They come with hummus and a very tart, bright salad. The pita is excellent fresh but is a bit tough as it ages. I'm still figuring out what the best things to order here because their sauces and seasoning can be a bit much. I didn't like the flavors of the gingery onions in their California Pita sandwich which comes with chicken, gingery turmeric roasted onions, cucumbers, yogurt sauce, arugula.

Extra fresh & healthy chicken bowl. Love all the veggies, chickpeas and sauces that were included. Staff is really helpful. Cool modern style inside too.

This is such a cute spot for delicious Mediterranean food! Upon entering on a weekday early evening, my friend and I were loving how simple yet sleek the interior was. The employees were happy to take our order and answer any questions we had, as it was our first time there. My friend and I shared schmaltzy potatoes and a half chicken plate, which comes with hummus, wedge salad, pickles, 2 pitas, chili oil, and garlic sauce. It was plenty of food for 2 people! We especially loved the chili oil and garlic sauce - we have never heard of chili oil served with rotisserie chicken and pita bread and we are so happy we tried the combo because it was DELICIOUS! Excellent chicken and hummus as well. We definitely want to try this place again and try more of their options!

I recently swung by Kismet (definitely not my first or last visit) and ordered the Half Chicken Plate for two--hummus, wedge salad, pickles, two pitas, chili oil, and garlic sauce. It's the perfect shareable meal and worth every single penny. It's been a minute since I wrote a review, but these guys deserve the love. The photos I snapped don't do the chicken, salad, or any of the fixings justice, but trust me: if you're hunting for some of the best herb-roasted chicken in town, Kismet is a must-try. The name fits the vibe perfectly--meant to be. I'm picky about rotisserie/herb-roasted chicken and always benchmark against heavy hitters: Mi Piace's Prezzemolo (still my all-time favorite), the long-gone Lemon Herb Roasted Chicken from Cheesecake Factory's heyday, and more recently, Verde in Costa Mesa's killer Lemon & Sumac half chicken (easily top 3). Kismet's half chicken holds its own in that elite group. It's juicy, tender, and packed with bright Mediterranean flavor--a healthier, more refined take on the classic Zankou Chicken style I've loved forever. What pushes it over the edge for me is the quality: free-range, non-GMO, antibiotic-free, air-chilled, and raised right here in California. Bottom line: Kismet belongs on any serious "greatest herb-roasted chicken" list (at least mine). If you haven't tried it yet, go fix that. Highly recommend.

Just the cutest little restaurant that has fresh & delicious Mediterranean food! I split the chicken plate for 2 with a side of schmaltzy potatoes. More than enough food! Came with chicken, salad, hummus, pita, pickled veggies, etc. Reminds me of everything I would get from zankou but with a fancy & fresh flare. Service was friendly and prompt. The interior makes you so happy! Definitely recommend

When the menu is nice and simple you know the food is good. The chicken is perfectly cooked and delicious and juicy. Super healthy that does not sacrifice on flavor. The interior is very clean and nice, and the staff are super friendly and helpful.

Those are not smaltzy potatoes

Ordered from postmates last time, the driver waited twenty minutes after my order was ready to pick up another order and everything came hard and soggy. I called them this time I ordered from postmates to make sure that didn't happen. They said no problem.. I ordered the smaltzypotatoes which I paid extra for.., but this is what I got instead.

A certain app that starts with "I" (not the 'gram), known for delivering groceries, has been branching out into restaurant delivery and enticed me to order from Kismet Rotisserie with a special offer. I'd been a fan of the East Hollywood restaurant for years and didn't need much convincing. On a cold, drizzly day, I decided to order a whole chicken and a carrot ginger drink for lunch. (When you work from home, you need to treat yourself now and then.) Service was extremely prompt, and the chicken was piping hot. This was definitely a great rotisserie chicken, crisp skin with plump, juicy meat. The chili oil and garlic sauce, very generous portions, were the perfect accompaniments. And the carrot ginger drink was the perfect pairing. I'm so glad that Kismet has maintained their excellent standards and that I don't have to go out to have their great food. Five stars all the way.

These crispy potatoes! They stole the show. The chicken breast was a little bit on the dry side, sadly, but I would definitely try their chicken again, perhaps opting for a sandwich instead of the half bird. The pita and hummus were divine. I honestly think it's the best I've had in a really long time. Everything was so flavorful and garlicky and fragrant, this place was a hit! The service could be friendlier but maybe they were having a rough day? Parking was a bit of a pain but there is a side lot if you are willing to wait during the busy lunch hour! All in all a solid 4/5.

Randomly noticed this place on the way to the gym and decided to look it up on yelp as I'd seen the name somewhere before. I saw from one of the reviews that this location opened a few weeks ago and figured I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did! There were a decent amount of people in the restaurant eating, as well as some grabbing to go orders which was a good sign. I also enjoyed the window into the kitchen, watching as they prepared orders and the rotisserie chickens. I ordered the chicken caesar pita and a side of the schmaltzy potatoes and a hibiscus cooler. Everything was good and very fresh. Also love the little pocket of dill I hit in the pita sandwich.

So yeah, I've found one of the best potato dishes around these parts. A co-worker recommended this spot, calling Kismet's schmaltzy potatoes to unalive for. Based on that testimony alone, I had to try these bad boys. It was a little out of the way for me on this hot, low-energy day, so I called in for delivery. Ordered the following: - Schmaltzy Potatoes - 8.7/10: Wow, man, so good. I'm pretty sure they're fried, or they could be baked, but what makes them so good is how crispy they are on the outside and super fluffy on the inside. They're seasoned nicely as well and they give you a generous amount for a more than fair price. Addictive for sure. Came with this garlic dipping sauce that just was a perfect complement for this dish. - Chicken Pita - 7.5/10: Solid dish with heaping amounts of shredded rotisserie chicken. All this stuffed in a large pita pocket. My only complaint about this dish is that I wished they had cut the onions a little thinner. They're too big. Otherwise, solid sandwich. I'll definitely come back for the rotisserie chicken.

Space is bright and cheery, with enough seating to make a Sunday lunch fun and festive.

Fair prices, large portion sizes, and fresh tasty food. Seating: both indoor and outdoor Parking: small parking lot outside, free Takeout: available, many people were picking up phone orders Here's what we ordered: Pollo Saltado: Tender boneless chicken breast fit perfectly with the stir fry. The rice was accented perfectly with the flavorful broth. Chicken combo: The chicken skin had a nice crunch, while the meat was juicy and tender. I chose rice and fried plantains for sides. The plantains were golden brown, with a rich flavor.

It had huge chunks of meat and was more than enough to fill all 3 of us up. My son and nephew ate the rotisserie chicken. This was also good, but not as good as the Lomo Saltado. Anyway, we'll definitely be going back here. They even offer free small bottles of water and free coffee, and they didn't hesitate to give us as much dipping sauces as we needed. This is definitely a must place to go if you're looking for excellent food with kind service.

10/10 SERVICE! AMAZING FOOD! AN EXPERIENCE WORTH COMING BACK FOR!…read more Let me start by saying that Howlin' Ray's in Pasadena has truly set the standard for what exceptional customer service should look like. The food was incredible, but what really made this visit unforgettable was the hospitality and the amazing people working here! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. I was greeted at the register by Miles, who was genuinely one of the friendliest employees I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with. Talking to him felt less like placing an order and more like catching up with a longtime friend I hadn't seen in years! We shared some laughs, had a great conversation, and he answered every question I had about the menu with enthusiasm and confidence. It's rare to encounter someone who can make such a simple interaction feel so personal and memorable, but Miles did exactly that. After ordering, Miles directed me to Javier, who helped arrange our seating. Javier was just as welcoming! He immediately asked whether we preferred indoor or outdoor seating and made sure we were comfortable. We even struck up a conversation after I complimented his custom embroidered apron featuring one of my favorite anime! It was another small but meaningful interaction that made the entire experience feel so genuine. What really stood out to me, though, was how Javier handled a mistake that was entirely my own. When my food arrived, I realized I had forgotten to request no coleslaw. I mentioned it to Javier, and without a moment of hesitation, he reassured me that it was absolutely no problem and that he'd take care of it. I was worried that having my order corrected would mean everyone in my group would finish eating before I even got started. Not even TWO MINUTES later, Javier was back with my corrected order! I genuinely couldn't believe how quickly and effortlessly he handled everything. No frustration, no inconvenience, just outstanding service with a great attitude. That level of care and attentiveness deserves recognition! And it didn't stop there. Throughout our meal, multiple employees stopped by to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed. We never once had to go looking for assistance. The entire team created an atmosphere that was welcoming, energetic, and genuinely enjoyable. You could tell that taking care of their guests was a priority, not just another part of the job. NOW, LET'S TALK ABOUT THE FOOD! I ordered the Mario Fries, while my friends went with the Sando, and everything was absolutely delicious! After tasting the food, I could immediately understand why there was a line of people waiting to get in. And even with the crowd, the line moved surprisingly quickly! The combination of incredible food, efficiency, and outstanding hospitality makes this place something special. I'm not exactly local to Pasadena, but I can confidently say that Howlin' Ray's is worth the trip. What started as a visit to grab some good food turned into an experience that genuinely made my day. A HUGE shoutout to Miles and Javier! You two are incredible at what you do, and I hope management recognizes the positive impact you have on your guests. You didn't just provide great customer service; you made us feel like we were among friends. I'm already looking forward to coming back, not just for the amazing food, but to see the new friends I made at Howlin' Ray's! If you're thinking about visiting, DO IT! Come hungry, expect incredible hospitality, and prepare to leave with a smile. HOWLIN' RAY'S PASADENA, THIS IS THE SPOT!

Some restaurants try to impress you with elaborate menus and fancy interiors. Rotisserie Chicken of…read moreCalifornia takes a much simpler approach: make really good chicken, treat people well, and let the food do the talking. This is a small, unassuming mom-and-pop establishment that you could easily drive past without realizing it's there. And frankly, that would be your loss. I stopped in for lunch and ordered the quarter chicken with dark meat and rice. The chicken was beautifully done, with perfectly golden skin and juicy meat underneath. It's a simple dish, but there's a noticeable difference between chicken that's merely cooked and chicken that's cooked well. They clearly know what they're doing here. The rice deserves some recognition, too. Flavorful, satisfying, and a worthy companion to the chicken rather than an obligatory side dish. What impressed me almost as much as the food was the value. Finding a genuinely good lunch at a reasonable price feels increasingly rare these days, but this place manages it without compromising quality. The service was excellent as well. There's nothing particularly fancy about the space, nor does there need to be. Its character comes from the people running it and the quality of what they're serving. Rotisserie Chicken of California knows its specialty, sticks to it, and executes it exceptionally well. Sometimes that's all a restaurant needs to get five stars from me.

How dare anyone give this place less than 5 stars!…read more Don't @ me, everyone is entitled to their experiences, which are clearly not all great. Anyhoo... Having just moved to Pasadena from San Francisco, I have been exploring the food scene all-around. These kinds of places are a dying breed everywhere as gentrification and conglomerates take over more and more of the food landscape. Why you should patronize this place: locally owned, family run, great food, and hella cheap. The owner (I think he's the owner) was so friendly and knew the orders of many of the locals who came in while I was eating. The front person was great as well. I ordered the 1/4 dark with fries and it was great. Chicken was juicy and the shoestring fries crisped up just right. This is on my go-to list and it should be on yours.
