Chimichurri Steak & Bacon Sandwich (front)
    David M.

I've been a big fan of Menocino Farms ever since I tried them in Marina del Rey many moons ago. Lots of healthy food options and I usually gravitate to a favorite salad and a favorite sandwich so it comes down to what I'm in the mood for until those items get removed from the menu. Right now, my favorites are the Thai Mango salad and Chimichurri Steak & Bacon sandwich. But, I really miss the Sophisticated Chicken and Prosciutto salad and hope it can come back on the menu. And... include the Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad while they're at it.

Seasonal goat cheese salad. One of the best salads I've had in a while!

OMG, THE SALADS! Not enough restaurants make really great BIG Salads. Main course salads. With all kinds of stuff on them. Fresh, tasty, dressed well, but not over-dressed. Perfect. If you are looking for that, you must try Mendocino Farms!

Chimichurri steak - love the toasted sesame roll, it goes really great with the chimichurri sauce and beef, to which I would only add some fresh cilantro! Not so fried chicken - so crunchy and flavorful, better than your fast-food fried chicken sandos (Popeyes has gone deep south since its launch.) The only con is the sandos here are Very Very Messy to eat. You need a ton of napkins (or a wet hand towel if you take them home.)

I stopped by for lunchtime after my haircut up the street. I wanted something quick and fresh, so Mendocino Farms was calling me. As always, the restaurant was clean, the staff was super friendly, and the service was quick. I loved the Chimichurri Steak & Bacon sandwich! The toasted sesame roll was a great canvas to enjoy the savory seared steak & applewood smoked bacon, the marinated red peppers and caramelized onion jam a nice sweetness, the shredded romaine brought the refreshing crunch, and the chimichurri and aioli provided the herbaceous pops of flavor. I'll definitely order this again!

1/2 "Not So Fried" Chicken + Small Kale and Apple Rainbow Salad. So delish, but not enough food. Such a tease!

Growing up in California, but living in Hawaii for almost ten years, I was surprised to crave California cuisine during a recent SGV vacation with family over last Christmas' season. Hawaii locals understand the struggle of finding a variety of fresh produce and good American food. I didn't expect to get excited at my sister-in-law's recommendation for the family to have lunch here! It was my first time at Mendocino Farms, period, as well as this part of Pasadena. The huge parking lots were matched with many cars searching for parking that my SIL ended up parking on the street in the nearby residential area. The restaurant is vertical in direction, but spacious enough. Restrooms are right at the entrance, followed by a drink station and trash cans. Ordering was pretty straightforward and menu items are reasonably priced. Ordering kiosks were available, but the friendly worker still assisted us and took our orders. Staff bring out food to diners at their tables. My husband and I ordered sandwich combos. His order was a 1/2 Farm Club sandwich with the Lemon Chicken and Farro Soup. My order was a 1/2 "Not So Fried" Chicken with a small Kale and Apple Rainbow Salad. I enjoyed my husband's combo, but I loved my "Not So Fried" Chicken sandwich and salad! My combo was bursting with flavors and textures! I have a pretty small stomach and I get full easily, eating smaller frequent meals, but I still thought the small sandwich + small salad was not enough! Had I known my meal would be so tasty, I should've ordered a full sandwich or a medium sized salad. All good though because we were on vacation and would try many other meals in SGV. Mendocino Farms is definitely a nice break from the ubiquitous Mexican and Asian food in SoCal and plate lunches in Hawaii.

There is 90 minutes free parking behind. My friend & I both ordered the Seasonal GOAT salad. It had goat cheese, chicken, almonds, fennel, pickled onions, mint, kale and other lettuce. I was a little concerned about the "hot honey vinaigrette". I should have asked first. The salad was very good. But the spiciness of the dressing made my mouth burn during the whole meal Otherwise it's a nice place. Next time I'll ask for a different dressing.

TLDR: Great spot for hearty, healthier sandwiches and salads. Clean, quiet space with friendly staff. A bit pricey, but portions are generous. Favorites: Not So Fried Chicken (panini style!), Caesar salad, and avocado quinoa salad. Limited parking overall; street meters or a few spots in the back. I'm a big fan of sandwiches and salads, and Mendocino Farms hits the spot every time. I first discovered it in Irvine, so I'm happy there's now a location in the 626. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and easy to eat. My go-to is the Not So Fried Chicken. MUST get it panini style, especially on sourdough. Their Caesar salad and avocado quinoa salad are also solid choices if you want something lighter but still satisfying. Prices are a little high for sandwiches/salads, but the portions are generous enough that I usually get two meals out of one sandwich order. The ambience is clean, quiet, and comfortable, making it a nice place to dine in or pick up food without the usual lunch rush chaos. The staff is friendly and efficient, which makes the whole experience smooth. Parking can be a bit tricky but there's street and metered parking along Lake, plus only a handful of spaces behind the building.

I have only been to Mendocino Farms in Pasadena three times. I probably should dine here more often than not. For a recent work lunch, I ordered their Farm Club that comes with shaved, roasted turkey breast, smashed avocado, applewood smoked bacon, herb aioli, tomatoes, mixed greens, and pickled red onions on Mom's seeded honey whole wheat. It's a good size sandwich. All ingredients go well together. Quite tasty! Staff are usually pleasant and nice. Service is decent overall. Outside covered patio and inside seating are available. Parking is available behind their restaurant (off Shoppers Lane). First 90 minutes free, then $2/hr thereafter, $6 daily max. Mendocino Farms has not disappointed me as of yet. I hope they never do. I would recommend them to anyone who loves a classic good delicious meal. P.S. I will post more photos once I find them. Thanks!

"Not so Fried" Chicken Sandwich, and the Peruvian Steak in the back
    Shirley W.

Came during lunch hours on a Saturday, and this place was busy! It doesn't look that busy from the outside, but it's sure busy in the inside. A lot of families here too. Ordering was quick and easy. I got to order the "Not so Fried" Chicken sandwich, and my friend got the Peruvian Steak sandwich. For the quality here, the prices are pretty reasonable. We ordered and luckily found a table. It's fairly clean here as well. Service was quick and efficient and we didn't have to wait too long. First few bites of my "Not so Fried" Chicken Sandwich, I reallyyyy enjoyed the sauces they had! Also, the mustard and the other tangy sauce paired with it so well. It didn't taste fried or unhealthy at all, so this sandwich was pretty good. My friend enjoyed her Peruvian Steak Sandwich, it was definitely very filling and juicy. I also enjoyed this one as well! Although, I would say the steak is a bit on the tougher side, but still pretty good. Between the two, my chicken sandwich tasted "healthier" and lighter than the Peruvian Steak sandwich. I haven't had Mendocino Farms in years, actually my first time at this location. Would definitely visit again.

We had the most amazing lunch but it was the personalized attention that blew us away. We were welcomed by 4 employees before we ordered. We went with two salads both our faves. The quinoa avacado and the cobb no bacon. This location was so clean and the vibe was unlike any other. Beautifully designed made us feel like we were in a different place. Please look for Ty he came over and checked in on our meal and the book on OUR table. WOW!!! Ty took our what was could of been a basic lunch into an unforgettable experience.

Chimichurri Steak & Bacon - 8.5/10 Mendocino Farms never disappoints, and this sandwich is hands down my favorite! The chimichurri steak and bacon combo is packed with flavor, and their bread is always perfectly toasted: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. It's the perfect lunch to grab on the go when you want something quick but satisfying. I've also tried the Pesto Caprese and Peaches Salad, both solid options, but the Chimichurri Steak & Bacon easily takes the top spot for me. Free parking in the back!

Big fan of the food , the service was a big fat NO for me though. I came in and looked at the menu for a couple minutes while my partner used the bathroom, isbel i believe her name was came up to me and asked if i had any questions and i said yes and asked if the goat cheese was pasteurized. she seemed extremely irritated after i asked and came back and said no its not a minute later so i chose something else. After my boyfriend came out of the bathroom we ordered and she just looked irritated the whole time while we ordered, she asked me "for here or to go" as she was talking to a co worker, i had to repeat myself saying for here 3 times till she finally responded and looked at me still while talking. We paid, and right after someone comes up to her and says "the goat cheese is pasteurized" and she just shrugged her shoulders and couldn't even hand us our number for our table. She put it down right in front of us and walked away. Like I said the food was good, but $16 for a sandwich with no sides and crappy service, i don't recommend coming here. We paid $40 for 2 sandwiches, and a drink (they only have 4 or 5 drink options and the options are all lemonades and a tea mixed with lemonade so the drink selection wasn't great). A different good recommendation would be sweet greens, or tender greens or even Cava, they always have good service and the food is just as good for the same price.

Was craving a sandwich and soup so cane to Mendocino Farms. The chicken rice soup was very rich and hearty. We got Farm Club and Chicken Caprese Ciabatta. Both were delicious.

When will the vegan Reuben sandwich be back on the menu?

Do they serve wine and beer, like the Sherman Oaks location?

Their online Pasadena menu says that they do serve beer and wine.

Will my hair and clothes smell after coming here (like the Downtown location)?

You should not experience that in the Pasadena location, since This store has pretty good ventilation and covered outdoor seating.

Is there outdoor seating so I can bring my dog?

    Yes

The Egg Heaven was honestly one of the best egg sandwiches I've ever had. The flavors were light but still incredibly satisfying. Chicken So Good, Spain Has Some Competition!…read more Hubby and I are BIG on rotisserie chicken, so when I stumbled upon this spot on Yelp and saw all the good reviews, we knew we had to make it a date-night stop! And since chicken has basically been my favorite protein lately... honestly, what better excuse? Whole Chicken + 2 Sides -- $30 | 9/10 Let me just say... THIS CHICKEN. ‍ We've had our fair share of rotisserie chicken, including some delicious ones in Spain, and I was genuinely surprised to say this one might actually be juicier than the chicken we had in Spain! The breast meat wasn't even remotely dry, which is usually the first thing I notice with rotisserie chicken. It was incredibly juicy, perfectly seasoned, and that crispy skin?! CHEF'S KISS. The seasoning really penetrated the chicken instead of just sitting on the outside, and every bite was flavorful. Definitely one of the juiciest rotisserie chickens we've had so far. Sides -- $5-$6 small / $9 large We tried the plantains, white rice, coleslaw, cucumber salad, and fries. The sides were decent, but honestly, none of them stole the show quite like the chicken. My favorite was definitely the plantains--those would be my #1 pick! The French fries, however... NOPE. They were way too soft and didn't taste like they were freshly fried, so I'd definitely skip those next time. Parking isn't the greatest, but thankfully we had no trouble finding a spot tonight. There are a decent number of tables inside, some two-seaters toward the front, and a few outdoor tables around the corner. Customers were coming in and out the entire time, so you can definitely tell this place gets some love. Service was quick and friendly, and we waited only about 15 minutes for our food. Overall, if you're craving some seriously juicy rotisserie chicken, this is absolutely worth a try! The chicken alone is enough to bring us back, and next time I already know which sides I'm getting... and which fries I'm leaving behind. Chicken: 9/10 Plantains: My favorite side Fries: Hard pass Definitely coming back! Happy eats!
