The Famous Deli Sub (avocado, roast beef, ham, turkey Swiss) on French roll
    Jen E.

I LOVE small sandwich shops like these. No-frills, great bread, just enough options. I don't live in Pasadena often but when I am even if it's for my 1-2x a week workout class in the area, I do keep finding myself coming back here because I love giving business to small establishments like these. The woman at the cashier is quiet but kind and everything I've ordered her has been excellent. For me, the just-soft-enough French roll is the way to go and how I feel the sandwiches are meant to be served. Avocado is a feature for many menu items and I can see why, as they are always fresh and plentiful. 2 size options, regular or large - I find myself always barely able to finish a regular but love how generous they are for the price. Jersey Mike's eat your heart out - this is where I'll be.

I have eaten here a couple of times and the place is clean with friendly service. The sandwiches are good with quality meat. They have a mixture of breads to choose from. I had a bacon and egg sandwich on toasted squaw bread which was appetizing. Great place to get a basic sandwich if you are in the Pasadena area.

Large Italian Cold Cut sandwich. $13.49 Total Price!

This was my first time at Vince's Deli and it will not be the last. Looking over their menu I decided on ordering a large Italian Cold Cut Sandwich. This sandwich was served in a long roll. The salami, capocolla, mortadella, provolone cold cuts were good slices of quality meat and they were not salty. Biting into the first half of my sandwich I was in heaven. All the flavors of cold cuts came through with each bit. The roll was soft and I like that it they did not put too much Italian dressing. The pickles, red onion, pepperoncini, and tomatoes really brought the whole sandwich together.

Turkey Sub 2. Avocado, Turkey, and Bacon Sandwich

I got the avocado turkey bacon full sized sub and let me tell you it's enormous!!! I love pickles in the sandwich and they also add a decent amount of veggies. Definitely a bang for your buck!!! I especially liked the crispy finely chopped bacon. Tastes like a sub your mom would make for the beach. Definitely a decent sandwich shop when in Pasadena!!!

Potato Salad - lot's of mayo.

The sandwiches are made fresh, but I don't see anything special. I ordered a Turkey and Cheddar on Rye with mustard, no Mayo. It came with no mayo, and no mustard. I again asked them for mustard and they gave me a couple little mustard packs (which were hard to open and seemed very old). The potato salad was too heavy with mayo for my liking, but that's just me. The small space has several tables inside and outside, and the ladies behind the counter are friendly. When I order a sandwich, I'd like it to be something I can't do at home. This sandwich was not that. My experience was not bad, but nothing special.

I came here to avoid eating the pre-packaged sandwiches from the hospital cafeteria. I called to place my order for Sub #3, which was ready in 10 minutes. Even though it's a sub sandwich, you can choose your bread preference. I went with the traditional French roll. The bread was probably my favorite part of the sandwich since it was a fresh soft roll. I got the regular size, which was pretty large, close to a foot long. Sub #3 has turkey, Swiss, sprouts and avocado and comes with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions. The turkey was your typical processed lunch meat and the sandwich was pretty standard. I do appreciate that the avocado was included without an extra up charge. I would not come out of my way to come here but may return if my visits to the hospital stretch into another week and I've exhausted the other options in the mall. Better than eating at the hospital! Free parking in the lot.

Came to this place in hopes of looking for a good sandwich. The ambiance of the store is that of an old school delis. I walked in and it was pretty quiet. I decided to try the meatball and provolone sandwich. not gonna lie I was waiting for a pretty long time for some reason. When my sandwich finally came out it looked amazing but I realized it took so long because they forgot about the sandwich and half of the bread was burnt. The meatballs were average in seasoning but the burnt bread taste wasn't good so I had to break most of it off. Overall I would try this place again but maybe not the meatball and provolone. Maybe I'll come back and try a cold sandwich.

We had to circle the area a few times to find street parking. It would be nice if they had a designated parking lot in addition to street parking because some of the businesses around there had that. There was seating inside despite the store being pretty small, so my bf and I just ate inside. The cakes were pretty good! I got the Matcha Yuzu and he got the Kinako Chestnut. I couldn't really taste the yuzu until I tried only the first layer of cream. The matcha overpowers the yuzu a lot because there was two layers of matcha cream and one layer of matcha cake. Still really good and can taste that the matcha is high quality! As for the kinako chestnut, we couldn't taste the chestnut much but there were some chestnut pieces hidden in the cake! I would love to try the peach one as well but this place is quite far. Hopefully I'm in the area when they have the peach seasonal again.

I wish there was a bit more seasoning or maybe something more than just egg in the egg salad-- it just felt like a lot of cream and egg. Also, the size of the sandwich felt a little small for $11. The space itself is alright, and staff were friendly! Parking was a bit hard to find, and I had to circle the block to get a spot a few minute walk away on the street. I'd consider coming back to try a warm sandwich or a latte, but I probably wouldn't get the egg salad sandwich again!

The only downside is the outdoor seating. The setup is uncomfortable when the sun is out. The umbrellas don't provide enough shade. My face was covered, but my legs and ankle were burning like fire was hitting them the whole time I ate. The elderly couple sitting next to me had the same problem, trying to move their table to get shade. I didn't enjoy the outdoor seating, which was a shame because it was such a beautiful day. I hope they can find a better shade solution; bigger umbrellas that tilt would work perfectly.

Probably wouldn't be coming back again even if a friend wants to grab a quick lunch, I would contest and pick a different spot due to difficult parking and food wasn't great. The J Stilly -for the price of their menu, you would expect the over all sandwich to shine.. They're not cheap. Decent size but not huge. Bread was what put me off. Bread is quite tough and dry, it was missing that bouncy moisture that amazing bread has. Maybe they don't have a great starter yeast? Content of sandwich was good, flavor was there. But the chicken also wasn't great, it wasn't too dry but wasn't good either. Also sandwich was quite wet and dry at the same time, too much sauce and bread sucked that it didn't soak up any of it.. The Spicy P - same bread issue. Since the chicken cutlet was deep fried it help with it from being dry but it also wasn't juicy. Also very wet sandwich, too much sauce? The Crispy Chicken Caesar Wrap -this was great, one of the best chicken ceaser wraps I've had flavor wise. Tortilla also had a good chew to it. Since we ordered the crispy chicken one, it wasn't dry.

The beef pho meat pie definitely had the pho flavors and aromatics. This was absolutely delicious! The Popcorn Pork was good, not as aromatic as the pho pie. The flavor was lacking on the Taiwanese popcorn chicken basil flavor that it claimed. It reminded me more of a Vietnamese meat pie (pate chaud), which is peppery with a smoother texture that this one did not have, but it was still flavorful. The bread pudding was good but the texture was more dense reminding me of a banana bread loaf. I didn't care for the dollop of yogurt on top, which took away from the flavor of the bread pudding itself. Hubby said the Classic Aussie was good but was expensive for the size of the sandwich (small burger size). Hubby got the Long Black coffee which was good, but sadly my iced matcha latte was lacking in the matcha flavor. It was very pale in color and tasted mostly of milk. Service was quick and friendly. But the highlight is no doubt the chicken. There wasn't much service, but the interaction with the staff was pleasant. They all seem very nice with a friendly smiles. Tip: many people grabbed a 2 L bottle of the Inca cola from the cooler.
