I had a wonderful meal with friends. We had the lasagna bolognese and the Sicilian pizza. The waitress was very attentive and the owner came by our table to make sure we had everything we needed. Very quiet and able to have conversations. I had the lemon cake for dessert that was delicious. The best Italian I have eaten in a long time

The intentional service, deliciousness, and personal ambiance is incredible. Stopped by and immediate favorite with how much flavor is packed for an amazing price too. Dining alone or with family you will have a great time engaging chef Peter bringing his home to every dish and experience.

Delicious all the way. Must must must try.

An outstanding hidden spot in Pasadena. Visit chef Piter for a visit to remember. Quality, Authentic and great value.

Eggplant Parmesan

Excellent food and service. I'm from New Jersey and often feel LA lacks great no-frills options for simple, homemade style Italian food at a reasonable price point. Enter Caffe Italia. The food is excellent and you can taste the freshness and care that goes into each dish. This brought me back to childhood in New Jersey, which is the highest compliment I can give. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the food is fantastic. Please support this place and keep it in the neighborhood.

Incredible family dinner for our party of 15! Table was beautifully set, Chef came out and started us off with various different specialty focaccias, calzones pizzetas, and tomato burrata salads. That was Followed by eggplant parmesan for the table-which was out of this world. Some of the items we ordered among our party and we all tasted and shared. Lasagne bolognese, Milanese Parmesan, penne à la vodka, fettuccine Alfredo, pepperoni pizza, spaghetti polpete, chicken scaloppine Al limone, and 2 specials of the night- braised short ribs with mashed potatoes and a penne tartufo (truffle) with crisped mortadella. Dessert was flourless chocolate cake, gelato, tiramisu and warm panettone bread pudding. Everything was exceptional including the service! We will definitely be going back often and highly recommend this new gem in Pasadena!

Penne Arrabbiata and Pizza

I was welcomed immediately upon entering! The staff were so friendly. This restaurant is casual and family friendly! Now for the best part... the food was FRESH and absolutely packed with flavor! So delicious. I was shocked by how great this small spot is! Another great spot to try in Pasadena. Highly recommend giving it a try for lunch or a casual dinner

Vodka pasta

Cafe Italia is a gem. Chill modern Italian atmosphere, kind attentive staff, and really good food. Big portions, great flavor, and just an overall solid spot. Great place to stop in for a tea and lunch. :) Vodka sauce pasta was amazing and they added vegetables to make it more vegetarian friendly. GREAT spot

wow, i'm so amazed by this place. came in for just a coffee and the owner was amazing, the inside of the restaurant is SO CLEAN, so classy and overall amazing! if you're debating wether or not to come, JUST DO IT! worth it!

They don't have a full bar but wine & beer are available, so I had a Hugo Spritz. It was refreshing & tasty. We were lucky that our reservations were at 6 pm, so we could partake in The Parmigiano Wheel Experience (daily from 5:30 - 7 pm). The dish is prepared at the center of the restaurant so all guests can get a view of the Cacio e Pepe being made to order and the delicious smell that fills the restaurant. At $24 it's a bargain, so we had that along with Linguine al Frutti di Mare ($31) and the Insalata Mista Stagionale $17. The Cacio e Pepe was Chef's Kiss! The Linguine was al dente, the sauce was delish, and the seafood was fresh. The salad was also incredibly good - mixed greens with California yellow peaches, caramelized pecans, crumbled goat cheese, & a pomegranate dressing. It was a special but should be on regular rotation. For dessert we shared the Tiramisu and it did not disappoint. A few weeks later I returned. Our server, Carlos, was fantastic! An absolute delight. This time we ordered: Fritto Misto ($22), Pane e Olio ($8), Insalata Mista Stagionale ($18), Spaghetti Al Limoncello (Special $38), Cacio e Pepe ($24), Chicken Parmigiana ($29), Ricotta Cheesecake Brûlée ($14), & Limoncello Cake. Everything was molto delizioso!

Not to mention it was fresh, aromatic and delicious. I've been to Italy and this place is the closest I've come to anything I had out there. Also, not to mention, the pasta is handmade in Bologna, Italy and shipped overnight in a temperature controlled cabin. They do this because Italian eggs are key to their pasta!! We were seated outside, I didn't mind as the weather was perfect for al fresco dining and the service was great, highly recommend getting there as early as they open as they do not take reservations and operate strictly on a first come first serve basis. We actually tried to come here a long time ago, but the wait was so bad that we just gave up. My boyfriend has been to the Marina Del Rey location multiple times, so I didn't really have any expectations after our first attempt to come here. But There was no wait at all, and we got to sit right at the counter. I think it was the best seat in the house because we were right in front of the cheese wheel and got to watch the chefs cook everything fresh. The vibes inside the restaurant were great and the service was great too. As for the food, the yellowtail we ordered was alright. it tasted great but wasn't exactly mind-blowing. The pasta was the real highlight, specifically the carbonara, which was fantastic! I also tried the Amatriciana, but it was a little too salty for me, so I probably wouldn't order that one again. But my bf loved it!!! guanciale pieces were really tasty!! The parmigiano they use is incredible, though, and I'm already thinking of coming back just for their cheesy pasta. I'll definitely be sticking to any pasta that features their parmigiano next time. Overall, the ambiance was perfect and it was such a win for a Monday night dinner!

But this past weekend I sort of had a bit of a bummer of an experience. I ordered a small cheese platter for my wife and I to pick up for an at-home date night. I added some cheeses we loved when we were there in December - I dropped them in the notes of the order AND sent an email to confirm. When I didn't hear back I tried calling, which went straight to a recording. So, of course when I picked up the platter it wasn't what we wanted. I was told emails aren't answered on the weekend, they don't pick up the phone and they're still working out the system. Thwarted by three modes of communication. Pretty disappointing. And for the $120 price tag, I was a little underwhelmed. I probably would have been better off just buying the cheeses from them, and getting the crackers and the accoutrements somewhere else and assemble it myself at home. I'll probably still eat here because there are some solid dishes, and the back patio is a beautiful spot to bring the family (pup included), but I just won't be ordering a cheese platter again, unfortunately.

We came here in the evening for dinner and ordered two pasta dishes, and the Caesar salad. The Marina's Caesar salad is one of the best I've ever had and is a definite must try. We also ordered the mushroom tagliatelle and a tomato spicy pasta (not sure if it was the spicy vodka pasta or not). Both of the pasta dishes were well made, and well balanced. The mushroom pasta was not too salty with a rich creamy buttery taste. The tomato pasta had just the right amount of kick with chewy fresh pasta. The portions are on the smaller side but were enough to satisfy us. Overall, would recommend visiting! Try the salad and their fresh pasta too.

Our waiter was very friendly. He took our order on a tablet. We received our drinks and waited for our food to come. Approximately 15 minutes after we placed our order, the waiter came back to tell us that there was an "internet problem" and our order did not go through. He had to take our order again. He apologized profusely. He offered us complimentary bread as a way of apology. I had a toddler with me and he was starving at that point. I had to give him some cereals (my emergency snack) to keep him quiet. The food finally started arriving. Here are my thoughts for each item. Blistered bread: 3/5 stars. Interesting looking bread. It is served puffed up. Nice presentation. It gets deflated when you cut into it. Taste is average. Nothing spectacular. Charred Broccolini: 3/5 stars. It was too charred for my liking. Taste: average. I don't care too much for the sauce that comes with it either. Fried calamari and artichoke: 5/5 stars. This was the best dish of the night. Excellent calamari and artichoke. It was fried with a light batter and seasoned well. Delicious. House Italian sausage pizza: 4/5 stars. This was a bit spicy but good. Crust not too thick which is the way I like it. Spicy shrimp alla Vodka: 4/5 stars. Spicy but not too spicy. It has a nice flavor. Liver mousse tortellini: 2/5 stars. This is supposed to be filled with chicken liver mousse and crispy chicken skin. I did not taste any crispy chicken skin. Overall taste: meh. I would not order this dish again. Venetian duck ragu: 3/5 stars. I liked the pappardelle pasta but the duck was too salty for my taste. There is supposed to be Maitake mushrooms on this dish. I only tasted one mushroom. It could use more mushrooms. Pork chop Milanese: 3/5 stars. This dish comes with a huge mound of salad on top of the pork chop. The pork chop tasted average. The salad is the best part of this dish. Butter and Pecorino pasta from the kids menu: 4/5 stars. It has a nice buttery taste. It's too bad that my toddler grandson was too full to eat the pasta. He got full eating cereal and bread since it took so long for the meal to arrive. I think the food was okay. Overall value not so good. A bit pricey with small portions. Having had to wait awhile for the food didn't help with the overall experience.

When you enter The establishment you are immediately aware of the great aromas coming from the kitchen. After walking through some tables and chairs, I was greeted at the counter by a friendly hello and 'how can I help you?' I asked a number of questions concerning the menu. I knew there was pizza but I wanted to know more about their sandwiches and salads. I found out that they do have daily / weekly specials that are a great value. I decided to order a special small Italian sausage pizza and an order of six nude chicken wings with ranch dip on the side. I sat down and waited for the order to be completed. There were a few people at some tables finishing up their lunch. While I was there the phone was constantly ringing with takeout orders. The walls had simple decorations that created a nice ambiance. When my order was called, I was given instructions on how to carry the bag as to not disturb the toppings and cheese on the pizza. As I walked, the smell of the fresh pizza and wings was enticing. The wings were just as I ordered. I enjoyed that they have not been overcooked. The wings were tender and moist. The ranch dressing dipping sauce was a great choice. I look forward to trying some of their other homemade sauces. The Italian Sausage Pizza was cooked just the way I like it. The crust had a nice crisp bottom and great flavor. The toppings of olive and onion were a perfect combination with the Italian sausage. I was happy that I ordered the small size rather than the mini so that I could enjoy some cold pizza the next day. Great flavor even on day two. On another trip I ordered the Italian Grinder Sandwich and a large Antipasto Salad. The salad was full of flavor and fresh vegetables and meats. The sandwich was huge. More ingredients than I expected with a great Italian flavor, the bread was incredible as well. I tried the sandwich both cold and hot and both ways the flavor was the star of this sandwich. I look forward to coming back and enjoying some of the other items on their menu. Fresh pastas are next on my list of things to try. I anticipate that whatever I order will be exceptional!
