Why not have lunch for breakfast? My friend Alicia & I decided to pop over to Caffe Italia for breakfast after farmers market today. Well, it turns out there's no breakfast on the menu, but they offered to whip up something for us. After looking at the menu, though, we decided to get a couple of panini and share. First off, cappuccino. Sooooo delicious! I have never really thought about the temperature of my cappuccino before - but now that I know how it's supposed to be, I will remember. This was superb. We ordered the Prosciutto Crudo & Burrata (basil pesto, arugola, tomate, burrata, & Parma prosciutto) and Panino Con Polpette (beef meatballs in marinara sauce, Parmesan cheese, & bell pepper). The bread is perfection. The sauce was perfection. The cheese... you get where I'm going. Every bite made me happier than the last. But the panini's are so generous that i couldn't eat even half of one! I can't wait to go back for dinner. They make the pasta in-house. The entrees (and desserts) all look mouth-watering. If you see a handsome bald guy in the back, that's Peter, the owner. He is as friendly as the food is good. The restaurant is just east of old town Pasadena, across the street from Target. read more

Super delicious! Looks like a coffee shop but actually is a great restaurant. The best Carbonara ever, also the most authentic! Finally the right kind without cream! Food is great! It's unassuming from the outside but the quality of the food and service were excellent all around! We got the bucatini carbonara, scallopini di pollo, and lasagna. Pasta seemed hand made and perfectly al dente. Of the 3 we enjoyed the scallopini di pollo the most but you can't go wrong with either one of them. Our only complaint was the seating. Table seemed too high for the chairs so it was a bit uncomfortable. We will be back regardless! read more

My dear friend and I had dinner at Caffe Italia on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena. She surprised me with the dinner treat. Thank you my friend! It was on a Tuesday night. They weren't super busy with about one table occupied at the time we arrived. A few more customers came in after us. It's a cozy and comfortable restaurant with plenty of seating. Our server was nice and helpful, but her attention span was a tad delayed. We had to ask for things a couple times before she gave them to us. Menu had unique selections of entrees. We got 1 pizza, 2 main dishes, and 2 drinks. I enjoyed my La Pasta Al Tonno that came with tuna plus one blood orange sicilian drink. Pasta had a beautiful bright orange sauce. Tuna was delicious! Drink was quite refreshing. My friend got the Parmigiana di Melenzane e Pomodoro dish that had eggplant. Sauce was tasty, but she didn't taste much of the eggplant. Her fresh lemonade was just okay... nothing special. We didn't care too much for the cold prosciutto and burrata cheese on the Parma Burrata Pizza. Though the pizza sauce and crust were amazingly good. Overall our meal was decent, but nothing spectacular that would make us return for more. You can give them a try. Newer spot in Pasadena serving up some solid Italian food. Came by for lunch on a weekday with some coworkers and it did not disappoint. Our server Lilly was great, super attentive and helped guide us through the menu. I ordered the bucatini amatriciana and it was delicious. The noodles were cooked perfectly and really soaked up the sauce. My coworkers got a margherita and a Sicilian pizza and I tried a slice of both. They were both pretty good, especially for the price. Overall I really enjoyed the pasta here and I'm looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. read more

I find my friends and I returning to Caffe Italia time and time again. The food and service is consistent - and excellent, but moreover it's just a really fun experience. We had such a lovely family dinner here tonight! Everything we ordered was delicious, and the owner was incredibly kind and generous. We originally ordered three dishes, but the owner surprised us with complimentary vegetable soup, salad, and pizza. Such a thoughtful gesture! The salad and vegetable soup were my personal favorites, while the kids absolutely loved the pasta and pizza. Everyone enjoyed the meal, and we left feeling very happy and very full! Came to Caffe Italia with my parents as they had heard rave reviews about the food, and those reviews were not wrong! What a treat. We had a phenomenal meal and Peter was such a sweetheart. We have a new favorite restaurant to dine at now. The Beef Lasagna was a dream it just melted in my mouth honestly the best lasagna I've ever had, as did the Bucatini Limone which was in a delightful creamy sauce but it wasn't too heavy where you fill up too quickly. The focaccia was really nice and light and airy and he recommended taking some home and adding an egg or some bacon to it in the morning which sounds so tasty. The pizza was nice and thin and the meatball tasted like home. The tiramisu was the best I've had since Florence ten years ago and I've been chasing that high ever since. So fluffy and smooth but not soggy at all. And I traditionally haven't liked cannolis but they were super fresh and flaky and not oily. The menu is massive and there's so many things I want to try. Really great local Italian Restaurant in Pasadena. Owner and chef Peter is from Sicily and you can tell he is passionate about his food. We loved all of the pasta dishes, especially the pesto pasta and the fettuccine ragu. The pizza and calzone were huge and the crust had a nice texture. The limoncello ice cream was delicious and refreshing. We will definitely be adding this place to our go to family dinner spots. read more

We had a belated Mother's Day dinner here on Monday and really enjoyed everything! Peter, the owner, was also our server and he was wonderful, accommodating, kind and just so pleasant. He brought out all the gelato flavors for our three year old to see before he made his decision and chose pistachio which was delicious. He also brought us sample bites of the fresh strawberries with tiramisu mousse which was amazing! He also gave us samples of the focacce by the slice to take home. We had a very disappointing experience. From the moment we were seated, the service was poor. Our waitress Myra seemed uninterested in helping us. We waited a very long time for our food, and when it finally arrived, it didn't taste good. One of the items we ordered was taken away by the waitress Myra, yet we were still charged for it on the bill. The most frustrating part came when it was time to pay. Instead of giving us a chance to review the bill or finish our visit, the waitress Myra rushed us and said, "Can you pay now? I'm busy." That made us feel like we were an inconvenience. Between the long wait, poor service, nasty food, incorrect charges, and being rushed out the door, this was a very disappointing experience. This is my mom's third time this week. We would probably be there more if they were open on the weekends. The owner is so sweet and catering to his employees being able to spend time with their families. The food is amazing. The service is amazing.
