Overall great experience. Great food, great service. Favorite dish was the Penne al Fromagio and the Berry Crumble (so good it was gone before I could snap a picture).

Stopped by for lunch with co-workers and ate some really delicious desserts : coconut cream cake, chocolate flourless cake and mixed berry crumble topped with ice cream. My favorite was the flourless chocolate cake. It was not too sweet and nicely rich.

The food and service were fantastic. We got a goat cheese and pesto pizza, cacio e pepe, and a caprese. The pasta was perfection. The pizza was equally as good, excellent crust. The caprese was good. I wish the tomatoes had been a little more ripe, but I did choose to order it in late December. The almond biscotti was a wonderful touch at the end of the meal.

Arrived at Gale's during lunch and they had several great lunch specials. I ordered the pizza special which came with a two topping pizza of your choice and a salad. This came out to about $26 with tax and tip which is reasonable considering that Gale's is on the higher end. The pizza was baked fresh and it was delicious! The salad was also delicious and had a flavorful dressing. They give you free bread while you review the menu. Service was excellent! The waiter was extremely attentive and kept checking on us. Gale's is spacious and is a more intimate space so I think it would be best for date nights or to catch up with friends. There is parking in the back in a shared lot with other businesses. Would recommend coming for their lunch specials!

Gales ia definitely a great spot for fresh Italian food. I enjoyed my first official meal and left satisfied. The bread was fresh, perfectly paired with olive oil and basil and balsamic vinegar simple and delicious. I ordered souo and salad, today soup was cream of mushrooms and side ceaser salad. Lunch price is modest making it easier to have a mid day bite. They have out door seating and the experience was satisfied. A local experience worthy of revisiting. From team Smiley

4.5 stars Gale's is a true gem that has been serving tasty family style Northern Italian fare for over 20 years. I dined here a long time ago and recently returned because it's one of my uncle's favorite restaurants. This place is quite charming inside. I like the rustic décor and artwork by local artists on the walls. We had a cozy table to ourselves in a private nook area overlooking the main dining room. The staff were all very attentive, especially our server Gabriel. We decided to share several dishes: Steamed Artichoke, Eggplant Siciliana, Zucchini Flowers, Fettuccini Arrabbiata. I also ordered a Hugo Spritzer, which was served in an elegant Brighton Goblet. It was so tasty and refreshing that I had another. We enjoyed complimentary fresh, warm bread with balsamic & olive oil to dip in before our food arrived. The artichoke was steamed to perfection and was stuffed with chopped tomatoes & basil and topped with freshly shaved parmesan. The drawn butter on the side was perfect for dipping. The roasted eggplant was topped with a yummy marinara and melted mozzarella. It was delish. The zucchini flowers were stuffed with mozzarella & burrata cheese and served with a spicy warm Heirloom tomato Puttanesca sauce. The combination of flavors was delightful. The Fettuccini was another fantastic dish. Al dente pasta tossed in a spicy tomato sauce. It was addicting and the spice level was just right. For dessert we had the Blackberry Crème Brûlée. The creamy custard had fresh blackberries mixed in and the caramelized sugar topping was perfect. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to coming back. *Private parking lot or street parking.

It was date night! And might as well end the night with a great and fancy dinner. We had a great time here and the pasta we ordered was cooked to perfection. The servers were very nice and helpful and very welcoming to their customers walking in. Would definitely come back here some time soon. Thank you very much Gale's!

Service was great! Always enjoyed their fennel salads and grilled branzino. Gale's been around for a very long time and I used to visit often until I moved out of the area. It always has that neighbor friendly feel. Changed different exec chefs in the recent years. Extensive wine list with one of the lowest markup in LA. I love their pastas, fennel salad, and steak. Zuppe di peces too! It does get crowded on weekend nights. Best to RSVP. I like their branzinos too. I noticed prices had gone up much in the recent years. Sometimes I wish restaurant would consider reduce portion size to keep the prices low or provide choices of entree size. For example, in the case of grilled branzino, 2 fillets per dish at $48, it was pretty much a whole fish. Would be nice to have a choice for 1 fillet at lower price for small eaters since fish is hard to keep for next day. Just a thought :)

Ive been here twice, but the most recent time left me disappointed. They have a parking lot in the back which is a plus! And they take reservations. The service here is slow and the server we got didn't know how to make food recommendations. That's not a huge deal, just a bummer. But the food is where the disappointment was at. My dad ordered the swordfish and it was overcooked, extremely dry. My mom ordered the scampi linguine that came with greens (broccolini?) and it was bitter. We told the staff and they shrugged us off. We also got the chicken parm and it was ok. The only good dishes were the fettuccini carbonara and shrimp spaghetti with lemon. For birthdays they give you complimentary coconut cake. There are better italian restaurants in the area.

Came here for pre-opera dinner. One of the best-tasting clam linguines I've ever had, but I wish the clams were meatier. The beef meatballs were good if a bit gamey (maybe it's the spices not sure what it was, but I've definitely had better meatballs.) This is now my favorite spot for claims linguine. Oh the coconut 'light-as-air' cake is DELIZIOSO! Outdoor dining tent available in their large parking lot.

I would recommending that you contact the restaurant directly. While dining there, I personally did not see any banquet rooms at the restaurant that would accommodate a large party, but call them to verify.

Not to mention it was fresh, aromatic and delicious. I've been to Italy and this place is the closest I've come to anything I had out there. Also, not to mention, the pasta is handmade in Bologna, Italy and shipped overnight in a temperature controlled cabin. They do this because Italian eggs are key to their pasta!! We were seated outside, I didn't mind as the weather was perfect for al fresco dining and the service was great, highly recommend getting there as early as they open as they do not take reservations and operate strictly on a first come first serve basis. We actually tried to come here a long time ago, but the wait was so bad that we just gave up. My boyfriend has been to the Marina Del Rey location multiple times, so I didn't really have any expectations after our first attempt to come here. But There was no wait at all, and we got to sit right at the counter. I think it was the best seat in the house because we were right in front of the cheese wheel and got to watch the chefs cook everything fresh. The vibes inside the restaurant were great and the service was great too. As for the food, the yellowtail we ordered was alright. it tasted great but wasn't exactly mind-blowing. The pasta was the real highlight, specifically the carbonara, which was fantastic! I also tried the Amatriciana, but it was a little too salty for me, so I probably wouldn't order that one again. But my bf loved it!!! guanciale pieces were really tasty!! The parmigiano they use is incredible, though, and I'm already thinking of coming back just for their cheesy pasta. I'll definitely be sticking to any pasta that features their parmigiano next time. Overall, the ambiance was perfect and it was such a win for a Monday night dinner!

We came here in the evening for dinner and ordered two pasta dishes, and the Caesar salad. The Marina's Caesar salad is one of the best I've ever had and is a definite must try. We also ordered the mushroom tagliatelle and a tomato spicy pasta (not sure if it was the spicy vodka pasta or not). Both of the pasta dishes were well made, and well balanced. The mushroom pasta was not too salty with a rich creamy buttery taste. The tomato pasta had just the right amount of kick with chewy fresh pasta. The portions are on the smaller side but were enough to satisfy us. Overall, would recommend visiting! Try the salad and their fresh pasta too.

Our waiter was very friendly. He took our order on a tablet. We received our drinks and waited for our food to come. Approximately 15 minutes after we placed our order, the waiter came back to tell us that there was an "internet problem" and our order did not go through. He had to take our order again. He apologized profusely. He offered us complimentary bread as a way of apology. I had a toddler with me and he was starving at that point. I had to give him some cereals (my emergency snack) to keep him quiet. The food finally started arriving. Here are my thoughts for each item. Blistered bread: 3/5 stars. Interesting looking bread. It is served puffed up. Nice presentation. It gets deflated when you cut into it. Taste is average. Nothing spectacular. Charred Broccolini: 3/5 stars. It was too charred for my liking. Taste: average. I don't care too much for the sauce that comes with it either. Fried calamari and artichoke: 5/5 stars. This was the best dish of the night. Excellent calamari and artichoke. It was fried with a light batter and seasoned well. Delicious. House Italian sausage pizza: 4/5 stars. This was a bit spicy but good. Crust not too thick which is the way I like it. Spicy shrimp alla Vodka: 4/5 stars. Spicy but not too spicy. It has a nice flavor. Liver mousse tortellini: 2/5 stars. This is supposed to be filled with chicken liver mousse and crispy chicken skin. I did not taste any crispy chicken skin. Overall taste: meh. I would not order this dish again. Venetian duck ragu: 3/5 stars. I liked the pappardelle pasta but the duck was too salty for my taste. There is supposed to be Maitake mushrooms on this dish. I only tasted one mushroom. It could use more mushrooms. Pork chop Milanese: 3/5 stars. This dish comes with a huge mound of salad on top of the pork chop. The pork chop tasted average. The salad is the best part of this dish. Butter and Pecorino pasta from the kids menu: 4/5 stars. It has a nice buttery taste. It's too bad that my toddler grandson was too full to eat the pasta. He got full eating cereal and bread since it took so long for the meal to arrive. I think the food was okay. Overall value not so good. A bit pricey with small portions. Having had to wait awhile for the food didn't help with the overall experience.

Food - some real tasty & some beyond poor and unacceptable…read more Service - meh. Not bad, definitely not great, like some of the neighboring restaurants. Ambiance - okay. For years I've seen and heard how highly rated this place is. We had a Friday evening reservation. The restaurant is nice and all located on the second floor with an open lit up patio, which is really nice. Given it was a particularly warm evening, and the sun was still glaring, we opted to sit indoors. Unfortunately, they sat us at a table right by one of the doors to exit out. It was left open for the most part, given the wait staff used it to go in and out. I'm not complaining about the heat, but having a big suctioned gust of hot air hit me, my hair and my food that should've remained cold constantly was not a good experience. That being said, I did enjoy the ambiance & hustle & bustle of the diners, groups, and families dining alongside of us. The restaurant is nice, as I said, but our table was too small & the seat of our chairs, which were made of cloth, were disgustingly dirty and large black stains! Like a dirty restaurant carpet. The wait staff was meh. Not bad, but not helpful/great. Just alright. We mentioned how it was our first visit, a usual flag and opportunity for wait staff to give you an overview, fan favorites, and personal notes - nothing. Comment just fell flat. We had a couple of $19/glass cabs. Just alright and highly priced. But the waiter could not understand what I was ordering and had to have me eventually point it out on the paper menu. Not a big deal, but my point about this is that the wait staff is not exceptional like at other neighboring restaurants where the waiters are engaging, familiar with every aspect of their menu without looking at it and conduct themselves with a pride behind their service. This was "just get the job done" at minimum vibe. Let's move on to the food...which by the way wasn't timed carefully so this is where that small table became an issue...There were some promising highs, as we started with the incredible tasting hummus & puffy warm pita, fresh out of the oven. We opted to add the veggies to the dish for an extra $4 and they too were crispy, cold and fresh. We had fried calamari, unfortunately, that was rubbery - pass! Esp at the price. Since it was my first time here, I wanted to try the Greek salad. For me, it was wonderful. Rough chopped delicious vegetables and a slab of feta, with a delicious oily vinaigrette. My husband was disappointed, expecting an actual Greek salad with greens. To his point, this is something they should note on the menu, given we wanted to share it. For entrees, my husband got the beef kabob plate. He thought the rice was okay, but it was another pass for me. Fast food by my house makes one twice as good. Didn't expect that from this highly rated, highly priced place. His beef was alright. My chicken thigh was disgusting, I'm not being extra, I couldn't eat it. It tasted like microwaved grilled chicken tenders (held a tenders' shape even) previously frozen and had zero flavor. I was beyond disappointed! They added heavy char lines, which I normally would love as an added touch to flavorful chicken I'm accustomed to with this type of fare but since there was zero flavor from the chicken, the only flavor I got was burnt/char and that's not fun. The chicken meat consistency itself felt fake compressed chicken. Their bread pudding dessert was tasty and the coffees were alright. Our bill, with tip, was $270.00. Normally, for so many dishes drinks and courses, we wouldn't even flinch. But given half our starters went to the trash and my full entree went to the trash, the value for this place plummets, along with the lackluster service and seating issues. Oh, and one more thing. My husband and I were up the second half of the night with stomach aches! Will never return here, ever.
