You can tell he genuinely loves what he does as a chef and puts his whole heart and soul into each dish. Jesse also is quick to answer any questions we have regarding the food, especially with how to reheat certain dishes at home later. The staff at Uovo is incredible and you can tell they want you to have the best experience. The environment has always been welcoming and kind. Further, the staff is extremely accommodating with any and all allergies/food restrictions. My mom is vegan and I'm vegetarian, and that has never been an issue at all. We've never left feeling bloated or sick once. If there is a long wait during the rush hours, their staff upfront is prompt and alerts you immediately when your table/seat at the bar is ready. The pasta was amazing, but what really stood out was how much thought went into each dish and how fun it was to try a variety of things we probably wouldn't have ordered on our own. Was expecting a good dining experience from all the reviews I've heard but left disappointed. Overall the food was too salty, every single dish we got was way too salty. Food: cheese and truffle tasting menu: - yellowtail crudo: fish texture was a bit off, it was drenched in olive oil and that's all we tasted. Portion size was good. - tagliatelle in truffle sauce: noodles were perfect al dente, but was way too salty, could've used more truffle as well as a topping. Was feeling a little plain and bland. Portion size was good. - pomodoro: meat sauce was good and pasta was al dente, but once again super salty, portion size was good. - cacio e Pepe: at this point the noodles are all the same, wished a different type of pasta was used instead of the same one. We were looking for a fancy lunch spot that wouldn't break the bank, so we decided to give UOVO a try. We ordered the Battuta di Carne ($15), Crema di Parmigiano ($19), and Lasagna ($18). A 16% gratuity was automatically included in our bill, bringing the total to about $70 after tax. The beef tartare (Battuta di Carne) came out quickly. The meat was fresh, tender, and generously seasoned with olive oil, cracked black pepper, lemon, and Parmigiano Reggiano. It was a simple dish that really allowed the quality of the beef to shine. That said, I would have appreciated some sort of accompaniment, such as toasted bread, to add texture and help balance the richness and raw flavor of the meat. The pasta dishes (Crema di Parmigiano and Lasagna) took a bit longer to arrive, but they were well worth the wait. We used to love coming here it was one of our favorite pasta spots for years. Sadly, the last 3 visits have been consistently disappointing, but our most recent experience was by far the worst. We arrived around 9:20 PM and waited about 15 minutes after getting the text that our table was ready, only to be seated at the bar again. I honestly wish I had requested not to sit there because every time lately the atmosphere at the bar has felt tense and uncomfortable. The chefs working behind the counter looked angry, annoyed, and completely miserable. There was constant pan throwing, side eyeing customers, and an overall hostile energy that made us feel unwelcome the entire time. We sat there with my two hungry teenage sons watching other dishes being made while ours never came out. At one point, after about 20-25 minutes with almost no customers left in the restaurant, one chef literally stopped cooking and disappeared into the back to clean while we were still waiting for our food. I finally had to ask the waitress if our order was even being prepared. Only then did the chef come back looking visibly irritated and start making the dishes. It honestly felt like they were angry we were there. When the food finally arrived, it was incredibly disappointing. We ordered four pasta dishes and every single one tasted bland and nothing like it used to. The rich flavor this place was known for is completely gone now. My kids didn't even complain because they were starving and this had been the restaurant they wanted to revisit. Before writing this review, I actually deleted the positive review I posted for this restaurant two years ago because unfortunately it no longer reflects the experience here today. The food quality has gone downhill, the atmosphere feels negative, and the staff in the kitchen seem unhappy and burnt out. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente every time, and I loved the flat texture of the truffle pasta. Personally, I think the portion sizes were also perfect because I feel like I would've been overwhelmed with any more of each pasta. The tiramisu was a cute little cup, a great sweet treat at the end of the meal. Our server and chef were amazing throughout the meal and even made small talk with us, which is something I love at a restaurant like this. For $38 per person, I honestly thought the portion size would be more generous, but I understood the tasting menu was probably designed to let us enjoy multiple dishes without feeling stuffed, and high-quality pasta is very rich and well-seasoned, so serving a heaping portion wouldn't make sense. But, the pasta was so good, I wanted another bite! All of the pasta dishes in their tasting menu were evenly dressed in their delicious sauces that coat the pasta just right. So the food was so good the only picture I remembered to take was the appetizer. The rest of our order was the Ragú, Lasagna, and broccolini with two teas which comes in their own bottle to keep the drink fresh and cool. The pasta is delicious and light. Here I thought there would be leftovers to take home. Boy was I wrong. What I was also wrong about is that this establishment has a no tipping policy. This place is perfect for a solo date! I didn't wait at all, the service was good, and the ambiance is nice. It's dimly lit and they cook in front of you. I got the yellowtail crudo, amatriciana, and the truffle pasta. The truffle pasta was soooo good! I want to come back for it! The Amatriciana was also good but next time I want to try the Cacio e Pepe. I've heard good things about the yellowtail Crudo but I'm not sure if I just came on an off night for it but it didn't wow me! It was a little bland I wish it had more of the citrus flavor to it. We decided to come here for a late lunch yesterday! We sat at the bar which surrounds an open kitchen. The food here is absolutely fresh and delicious Started with the Yellowtail Crudo Thinly sliced wild Japanese Yellowtail with red Fresno chili pepper and micro-arugula dressed with olive oil and blood orange ~. This was a stand out !! I had the Ravioli Di Ricotta & my friend enjoyed the Vongole handmade tonnarelli pasta served in a white wine and clam sauce~. We finished off our delicious lunch with the strawberry pannacotta. ~ Everything was perfect . Service was great ! I just loved my experience here. This time around, we tried the cheese and truffle menu. The combination of these different pasta types was carefully curated. Delicious! And their take on tiramisu - *chef's kiss* - is the best I've encountered thus far. Daiya was lovely as always, as was the rest of the staff. The whole place and the dining experience is such a vibe.
