From exceptional quality checks to tending to any need to make my family feel satisfied, he definitely exceeded my expectations yet again. Not only was the server attentive but the managers Philip and Miriam as well. They were not only ensuring the dishes came out at good timing but also engaging in a welcoming conversation. I finally struck gold. For Mother's Day, my children treated my wife and me to lunch at Uovo in Pasadena. As Italians born and raised in Italy, we grew up eating pasta almost daily, and I consider myself a pretty decent cook and connoisseur of pasta sauces and traditional dishes. Uovo delivered in every way. We tried their tasting menu, which included pasta all'amatriciana, carbonara, tortellini in a beautifully clear broth, and a rich Bolognese sauce. Every dish delivered an explosion of flavor. The guanciale was among the best I've ever eaten outside of Italy. Kudos to Uovo for delivering true Italian flavors that so many so-called Italian restaurants fail to achieve. If I had one small criticism, it would be that they don't serve Italian bread. When the sauce is this good, "la scarpetta" is mandatory. Pasta is the heart and soul of any Italian restaurant, and not knowing how to properly cook it is a cardinal sin. The food was delicious and so fresh. As someone who can't do dairy, wheat, or land meat, I was thrilled I didn't have to make modifications to my pasta order, which they don't allow anyway. I'm obsessed. Last time I was in LA, I met up with a friend here for dinner. We ordered off the tasting menu and selected "The Regional" which includes Battuta de carne, ragú, tortellini, amatriciana, and pan a cotta con saba. for $35 per person, it was a good amount of food! Not to mention it was fresh, aromatic and delicious. I've been to Italy and this place is the closest I've come to anything I had out there. Also, not to mention, the pasta is handmade in Bologna, Italy and shipped overnight in a temperature controlled cabin. They do this because Italian eggs are key to their pasta!! We were seated outside, I didn't mind as the weather was perfect for al fresco dining and the service was great, highly recommend getting there as early as they open as they do not take reservations and operate strictly on a first come first serve basis. I finally made it to the Pasadena location for a late birthday dinner with my boyfriend on a Monday night, and it was such a surprisingly great experience! We actually tried to come here a long time ago, but the wait was so bad that we just gave up. My boyfriend has been to the Marina Del Rey location multiple times, so I didn't really have any expectations after our first attempt to come here. But There was no wait at all, and we got to sit right at the counter. I think it was the best seat in the house because we were right in front of the cheese wheel and got to watch the chefs cook everything fresh. The vibes inside the restaurant were great and the service was great too. As for the food, the yellowtail we ordered was alright. it tasted great but wasn't exactly mind-blowing. The pasta was the real highlight, specifically the carbonara, which was fantastic! I also tried the Amatriciana, but it was a little too salty for me, so I probably wouldn't order that one again. Wow, so good! We did one of the tasting menus, and not only was everything delicious and well plated, the portions were reasonable. I left satisfied but not overly stuffed. My fave was the ragu, but all of the pastas were fresh and you could taste the quality. I also liked that they were a tipping free restaurant. I'm vegetarian and gluten sensitive, so I subbed for salad, which ended up being fresh and flavorful. No complaints there, I had to balance it out. So the food was so good the only picture I remembered to take was the appetizer. Upon entering, I noticed that the restaurant was very atmospheric with warm, yellow lighting. We didn't wait very long on a Sunday night and got seated at the bar, which had an open kitchen which I always love. Watching the chefs prepare the pasta was such a fun addition to the meal. My boyfriend and I ordered the cheese & truffle tasting menu, which came with the yellowtail crudo, truffle pasta, pomodoro, cacio e pepe (made in the cheese wheel), and tiramisu. We added the tartare on the side. Literally every single dish was absolutely delicious and blew our minds! My favorites were the tartare and the truffle pasta. I think the crudo could've maybe used a bit more acidity to balance out the flavors, but that honestly might be my only critique. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente every time, and I loved the flat texture of the truffle pasta. Personally, I think the portion sizes were also perfect because I feel like I would've been overwhelmed with any more of each pasta. The tiramisu was a cute little cup, a great sweet treat at the end of the meal. Went with my girl group of four and ordered the Cheese & Truffle Tasting Menu to share, recommended by our waiter. The location is beautiful, with plenty of seating readily available since we came just before the dinner rush, after attending an event nearby. We got to sit outside, and our waiter took great care of us, even moved the umbrella for us since the sun was just setting. The tasting menu came with 5 dishes (1 appetizer being a beautiful Yellowtail Crudo, and 3 rich pastas which included Tagliatelle in Truffle Sauce, Pomodoro, Cacio e Pepe, and a dessert, Tiramisu al cucchiaio). For $38 per person, I honestly thought the portion size would be more generous, but I understood the tasting menu was probably designed to let us enjoy multiple dishes without feeling stuffed, and high-quality pasta is very rich and well-seasoned, so serving a heaping portion wouldn't make sense. But, the pasta was so good, I wanted another bite! All of the pasta dishes in their tasting menu were evenly dressed in their delicious sauces that coat the pasta just right. Came here for a Galentine's Day recently! Food: I ordered the Carbonara. The noodles taste very al dente! I loved the cheesiness of the sauce. However, it did get pretty heavy the more you ate it. The bacon was pretty solid. The portion size was perfect for me and my friends. We all finished everything, which is a little rare. Service: Everyone was pretty attentive. We got a bottle of free water. There is an 18% gratuity fee added on the receipt, regardless of party size. We didn't have to wait for long to be seated. There are some nice tables to sit at outside as you wait. Parking: It's Pasadena. You have to pay for parking. We parked in the back lot of the plaza... they charged us $20 for 2 hrs. We came on a Saturday night around 5pm for a party of 2 and waited about 30 minutes. It was worth the wait. The pasta was so fresh, it tasted like we were back in Italy! They import it fresh from Italy every day. We wanted to try a variety so we did the pasta tasting $38 per person but you get three pastas that is half portion, an appetizer, and dessert. There are three choices for the pasta tasting we got the Cheese and Truffle tasting and it didn't disappoint. The truffle tagliatelle was perfectly creamy and can smell the truffle. Panna cotta was the perfect ending, and UOVO has a nice selection of Italian wines by the glass. My one pet peeve though is the lack of espresso or coffee options, so that was a bummer. Had a great experience here! I love that they have outdoor seating and heat lamps as well as a covered patio and twinkle lights. Really great ambience! They seat you when all of the members of your party are present and they don't take reservations, so that part can be a bit tricky. Parking is outrageously expensive. I parked in the garage nearby and it was $16! Decided to order the taster menu which included the Crudo, Cacio e Pepe, truffle pasta, Pomodoro pasta, and tiramisu. Definitely felt like I was carboloading lol. The pasta tasted fresh and amazing. My favorite was the truffle pasta for sure! People had complained and earlier reviews about the sharpness of the cacio e pepe, but I thought it was perfect. The Crudo was not my favorite, as I think they could've done something more interesting with the flavors. I kind of wish that they had a pesto pasta dish, and maybe a couple more salads. I think in the future, I would stay away from the taster menu and get à la carte. We did end up ordering the broccolini and that was a really great dish. Isaiah was our waiter and he was fantastic! Always observant trying to see if we were ready for the next course. I definitely did not feel rushed at all. They don't serve coffee, which is a bummer since it would've been a great pairing with the tiramisu. All in all, it was a good experience and I would return! read more

11.14.2o25 I personally have never heard of this place until a coworker wanted to buy me and another colleague lunch. The restaurant was chosen by her, which she heard about from someone else and have been eager to try. After finding out the price of everything she ordered (it was to-go), now I don't know what my thoughts are about myself. I must be a wonderful person to deserve such treat! I didn't take any pictures but I can confirm the portions are small for the price it was paid for. I was told the pastas are freshly made and shipped from Italy? How can that still be considered freshly made if it had to travel all the way from Italy? Is it same day shipping and receiving? Like through a private jet? Is that why the price is so expensive? We had the vongole (clam pasta?), pomodorini, lasagna, broccolis, mushrooms, and tiramisu x3. These are already over $100 alone... not including tips and tax. I will need a raise to enjoy the food here. Lol However, the foods were good I have give them that. The tiramisu, however, was mostly cream...maybe that's what a real tiramisu should be. A version I have never tasted. I liked the lasagna the most and I can finish the whole thing in probably 8 bites. I honestly didn't feel full after eating but good thing I bought us boba tea on the side. read more
