We sat inside the restaurant, which is relatively small and has only a few tables. We both enjoyed the filet mignon kabob and the salad. The red beet dill hummus was mostly enjoyed by me with the pita bread. The chicken mini shawarma nachos weren't really our thing and were pretty much untouched. So when I tried the nachos at Hummus Labs, I knew I had tasted something golden. So backing up, Donna S. and I met up for a weekday dinner at Hummus Labs. They close at 7 pm on weeknights, so we got here around 5 pm to have enough time to order and enjoy our meal on-site. Decent amount of seating inside and you can move tables around if you have large groups. There was so much good options on the menu that we decided to split one of the shared platters -- the Ultimate Combo ($34.95), which comes with a chicken kabob skewer, filet mignon kabob skewer, mini shawarma nachos, salad, and choice of hummus. The menu says this feeds 2 people and it certainly did! We picked the roasted tomato habanero hummus. We had initially ordered a side of falafel too, but that order didn't get put in. It worked out in the end because we still had food leftover from our ultimate combo. Everything was super delicious. If you're unsure of what to try and you have a small group, the ultimate combo is the way to go. While both kabobs were delicious, the shawarma nachos were something else! It's the crisp pita chips that make the nachos so good, though the chicken and hummus and seasonings wrap it all nicely together. Donna S. and I both placed a separate order of the full sized chicken shawarma nachos ($15.95) to enjoy at home later. The lady taking our order was very helpful with my questions on what to order and the differences between certain options and dishes. I'm so glad my friend found this hidden gem! We were there a little before 6PM and there wasn't anyone around, it does give the vibe that more people come for takeout than dine in. First tried hummus lab at my friend's 1 yr old baby girl birthday celebration and it was amazing. So amazing we had to come today for lunch. The hummus lab is located in Pasadena on the corner of Colorado Blvd and Mentor. There is parking located off Mentor with plenty of parking spaces at my time of visit, otherwise you should be able to find street parking. Upon entering you are greeted by the cashier who was very nice and accommodating. The hummus lab is in a cozy little spot with seating approximately 5-6 tables able to accommodate either 2 to 4/5 people per table depending on which table you are able to seat yourself to. There is also bar seating by the front window able to seat 5-6 people if i recall correctly. Onto the food. I ordered their beef shawarma platter with rice and sides garlic paste and cilantro jalapeno hummus while my wife got their filet minot kebab with half rice and half salad and side of original hummus and cilantro jalapeno hummus. The filet minot kebab is definitely a standout in their menu as i have not seen this at other restaurants. The filet minot was cooked perfectly medium rare and juicy. The cilantro jalapeno hummus has some spice to it so make sure you don't give it to the little ones. My 2yo loves hummus so my wife ordered the original in her platter. Baby girl ate it up fast. My beef shawarma was fantastic with juicy beef cooked to savory tenderness and the sauce complimented the dish very well. The pita bread went very well with the cilantro jalapeno and garlic. If you have not tried hummus lab and are in the pasadena area i highly recommend you give it a try and see how it stacks up to other Mediterranean restaurants that serve similar dishes.
