So just park on the nearby parking garage, where you get 90 min free & it's a few min walk away. Just noting that the portions are huge - 1 plate is easily enough for two people. Shish kebab - nice juicy filet mignon cut, I got medium rare but wish I ordered rare for a softer bite Lamb rack kabob - this was my favorite. Tender lamb, well seasoned and cooked well. I heard about Raffi's Place maybe 10-15 years ago. I am surprised I remembered them, and I am surprised they are still around! They are located just minutes from the Americana and Glendale Galleria. Parking is $12 cash only for valet or you can find free 2-hour street parking nearby. I love that the menu has the Farsi names. I don't understand any of it, but they have English descriptions underneath. Service was mid. The busboys were helpful, but our main server was always hard to find. They served complimentary flat bread (I don't know what it's called, but it was like 2-ply toilet paper) with salted butter bricks. They also included a plate with herbs and raw onions. -Hummus $12: good ol mashed garbanzo beans. Can't go wrong with hummus. This was good with the bread, but part of me wished they served pita. -Rack of lamb kabob $42: It's not actually served on skewers. We had about 5 small lamb chops. The lamb was so delicious. The grilled onions and tomato were so good. The rice was ok; it felt like too much rice. I think the menu should offer options to order kabobs only and no rice. My friends are raving about this place, and so we decided to give it a try on a Sunday! It was my first time here, we arrived around 1 PM and the wait was about 20 to 30 minutes long. Not bad at all for a Sunday. Upon arriving we were seated in the outdoor patio area. I ordered the Ikra dip + the Barg (filet) plate. Everything was delicious. The dip is a must. We actually ordered two portions of this because it was that delicious! The fillet was cooked to perfection - extremely tender and full of flavor! The service was amazing - the only little note that I have is that if you decide to come here during the summertime, I would request sitting indoors because it does get quite hot and humid! We came to Raffi's for lunch while visiting my sister and her hubs. Glendale happens to have a large Armenian community, so not surprisingly there are lots of Persian/Armenian restaurants to choose from. We opted for Raffi's Place after a morning stint at Shane's Inspiration Playground in Griffith Park. Raffi's is a huge restaurant that's very welcoming and festive. Waiters are friendly and carry huge trays full of juicy kabobs with mountains of rice. It has a bit of a banquet hall feeling. Parking available in nearby pay lots within a block or two. We shared a few entrees and still had plenty of leftovers. Highlights of the lunch: 1. The free, Lavash bread is paper thin yet chewy in a good way. My 6yo must have ate a half dozen or more. You can enjoy it plain, dip it in cucumber yogurt or go authentic with raw onions, radish, and mint/basil. 2. I loved the chicken thigh kabob. Super juicy and perfectly seasoned. Besides the grilled tomato there's also a big green chili pepper. The default saffron rice is our favorite but you can try 3-4 other variants for a surcharge. 3. Ny sister got the Scottish Salmon Kabob which is also excellent. Moist and perfectly cooked too. 4. Wife and bro-in-law wet with classic Beef Koobideh and portions were huge. They give two large pieces that are roundish in shape - Not flattened to make it look big like other places. BIL ate like 1/4 of his Koobideh and packed the rest as takeout, LOL! Valet parking is a safe bet and so are the many parking structures nearby. Street parking is mostly metered and hard to come by. If you tell the Valet you are picking up, they let you temporarily park in the front, without charge. Venue 4 stars: Covered Outdoor and Indoor tables. Nothing fancy but comfy and homey. Be prepared to wait quite as bit during busy hours. You can try the Yelp Waitlist to cut down on wait time, BUT when they get really busy they shut down the wait list. Service 5 stars: Usually good. We took out this time and the front desk people were wonderful and extremely friendly and helpful. Drinks 5 stars: Full bar: A few specialty cocktails, premium spirits, beer, wine, soft drinks, tea and coffee. Food 5 stars: Persian food is the main theme with some additions. Large menu of soups, appetizers, salads, specialty rice, stews and beef/lamb/chicken/fish kabobs to choose from. The best Iranian food I've had (bar none) and probably the most delicious meal I've had this year thus far! Raffi's Place was my most anticipated restaurant on my SoCal trip. The soltani kabob was to die for; the flavors in the beef barg and koobideh were so rich and cooked to perfection. The mastery of these dishes was absolutely on display. The mast moosir was a great creamy and savory side dish to complement the entrees. I HAD to get the tahdig (crispy rice) too! I also had a bit of the lamb shank which was really flavorful, tender, and paired perfectly with the baghali polo. The yogurt soda was a bit of an acquired taste for me, but I'm happy to have tried it for the full experience. We finished off our delicious meal with a floral and sweet Persian ice cream wafer sandwich. The portions were enormous, so we left feeling full with leftovers to look forward to! We came on a lively weekday evening. They don't do reservations, but we were warmly greeted and quickly seated with lavash and butter on our table immediately. The restaurant has a beautiful and romantic atmosphere, with hybrid indoor/outdoor courtyard dining. Our waiter was attentive and made us feel very welcomed. Also the flavor became monotonous to keep eating, and definitely had to take my leftovers to go. Their complimentary appetizer wasn't my favorite, but probably since I'm not accustomed to the type of cuisine. **Valet damaged my newly leased car and refused responsibility -- avoid the valet.** I have been a customer of Rafi's Place for a long time, and I want to be clear: the restaurant and food are excellent. My issue is specifically with the valet operation. I brought my newly leased car here and handed it to the valet. When the car was returned to me, it had a fresh scratch with obvious white stucco/dust still on the damaged area. It looked brand new. I immediately told them the damage was not there when I gave them the car, but they denied responsibility. After I told them I would call the police if they did not take accountability, another person approached me and presented himself as just a "customer." He asked whether I had a dash cam and suggested I should check it to prove what happened. Only later did I realize he appeared to be connected to the valet group. Once I said I did not have a dash cam, they suddenly became much more confident and showed us their own video footage. By the time police arrived, they showed a video that did not convince me or the people with me that the situation was being presented fully or fairly. The officer explained that without a court subpoena, there was no way for us to access the original footage or verify anything beyond what they chose to show us. At that point, it was not worth spending more time fighting it, so I let it go. I was not even planning to post this review until a few days later, when I came back with 12 friends and intentionally parked at Glendale Galleria instead of using the valet. As I walked toward the restaurant, one of the valet guys yelled at me in a disrespectful and confrontational way. I ignored it and went inside, but that behavior confirmed to me that this was not just an honest mistake. It was a lack of accountability and professionalism. Again, I love the restaurant and the food is amazing. But I strongly recommend avoiding the valet. Park at Glendale Galleria nearby instead. It is less than a five-minute walk, and you can enjoy the restaurant without worrying about your car being damaged and then being blamed for it. read more

Cute m outdoor seating area with awning and string lights, good vibes good talking volume. Service is a bit slow, but expected since they're always busy, food took a while to come out so had to ask to get it checked on. We made the mistake of not ordering hummus at first, so the meats when eating with the pita were a bit dry, after ordering hummus it was a game changer. Got seated right away for a party of 2 on a Sunday evening, which we were pleasantly surprised with. We ordered a Shish Kebab plate and a chicken Soltani along with an eggplant dip. The eggplant dip was tasty and the complementary pita paired very well with it. However, we waived over 45 min for our food. We ended up eating the eggplant dip in its entirety before the food came and were table to try them together, which I think would've been really good. When the plates did arrive, portions were abundant and good for the price (approx. $32 per plate). The shish kebab was super soft and tasty and the rice was well cooked and flavorful. Found this spot on LAs top places to eat list and was so glad that it was across the street from my friend's house that I was staying at. He had never been, even though he lives literally right across the street so we had to check it out. Luckily there was no wait, which I hear is rare for this spot. I got the barg kabob and it was so good. So much flavor, probably the best kabob I've ever had. You gotta get the khiar yogurt, it was one of my favorite things and so refreshing. I haven't really had Persian food before so I don't have too much to compare it to, but you can just tell that it's authentic. read more

I've heard so much good things about Raffi's place and barely had the chance to go and check it out. Came for lunch with my sister. It was a rainy weekday. Being our first time visit we made the noob error by walking in from the Broadway entrance. The front desk is located in the rear coming from the alley. With that said we had a short tour of the establishment. The place is huge. Initially you'll walk into the outdoor area which is covered, if that isn't your thing there is a full indoor area as well. That day in particular was rainy so the covered outdoor area wasn't going to do it for us. Looking over the menu you find very familiar Mediterranean dishes. We were very curious about their Persian stews since we've never had it before. We ordered Chicken kabob, Koobideh, and Fesenjān. All orders came with their own rice and a side dish of toppings to add to your entree. The chicken was dry, I enjoyed the koobideh, but the real star of the lunch meal was the Persian stew. It was soooo goood. The place is pretty pricey, but the venue speaks for itself. I do highly recommend stopping by for lunch sometime or have a party and celebrate something with the people you love. The hummus, yogurt and bread wraps they provided were the highlight. I loved the fresh herbs, eating it with radishes and getting to build our bites however we liked. The eggplant dip we ordered was very flavorful, quite cold, but very nice. I think I ordered the wrong thing. I meant to order the Kashk O'Bademjan so that was another disappointment but on my own part but still a very good side appetizer and definitely kept us appetized before the main course. Now for the main course. The chicken was nothing special. I ordered thigh because I wanted it to be more flavorful. Again, we had come for the koobideh but they were out of ALLLLL versions of it which I was pretty upset about. The barg kabob was a nice texture and had a nice chew. Also nothing special. This is a very popular spot for Middle Eastern cuisine. Parking can be a bit tricky--there is a lot behind the building, but the entrance is easy to miss if you're not paying attention. There is also additional parking available in a nearby plaza, and the walk to the restaurant is less than three minutes, which makes it a convenient backup option. I visited after work with some coworkers and our boss, and the meal was excellent. The portions were generous and very filling--I couldn't even finish my entrée after sharing appetizers with the table. I tried the lentil soup, which was flavorful and fresh, and the salmon plate was outstanding. The salmon had a nice char on the outside, almost like a steak, yet it was still perfectly moist inside--honestly impressive. We were seated on the patio, which has a large tree in the center and an awning covering the space. It created a really nice atmosphere. There were a few bees flying around near the opening for the tree, which didn't bother me, but it's something to keep in mind if you're allergic. Overall, I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place--especially if you're feeding a group of six or more or planning a corporate event. They have plenty of indoor seating that can easily accommodate larger parties. We came for lunch to celebrate a birthday on New Year's Eve. They don't take reservations, so we arrived before their opening at 11:30 am. Although the restaurant was open early, we still had to stand in line as names were not taken until 11:30 sharp. When we arrived, we could smell the food being prepared. There was a separate line for pick up orders, and we saw customers walking out with large bags of food. When our party finally got seated, we were approached by a friendly waiter. He didn't rush us and was helpful throughout our meal. Some of us ordered family style. I got to enjoy different proteins such as chicken, beef, and lamb. All were delicious. I enjoyed the bread with hummus too. I don't think they charged for bread, but hummus was extra. Parking in the public lot a couple blocks away offered free 90 minutes, and a small $2.00 fee for each additional hour. I'm glad this restaurant was selected for the birthday celebration. Disappointed with this visit. When we chose Raffi's place over all the other options that are available and we do the long drive, just to get there and order two Fesejuune stews & a hummus, but the food arrives and we dig in to find the portions are minimized, the hummus tok but it wasn't as noticeable but the stews only had 2 & 3 pieces of chicken in the entire plate. It wasnt immediately noticeable until we got our spoon to dig in, we both looked at each and said the same thing "where is all the CHICKEN?" To order a $25 dollar plate of stew and mines had 3pieces in the whole plate and only 2 pieces in the other plate, idk what changed or what went wrong. The flavor was still there but it was definitely not worth the trip. What disappoints me is I'm not sure if this is the new normal moving forward or if maybe there just wasn't enough stew made for the day so the portions were being rationed. But next time I'm in Glendale idk if it's worth it to give it another go at Raffis or do I take them off my list of favorite restaurants. read more

Eggplant is actually a vegetable that I really like but don't eat often, and I could not stop eating the eggplant dip with the bread they provide. The portion size for this plate is MASSIVE. At first I was a bit skeptical about spending $80+ for lunch but I'm so glad we only got one plate because we had enough left overs for the both of us for dinner too. Lamb is actually one of my favorite meat so I'm really looking forward to going back and trying their lamb kabob and shank, as well as the rice crust with stew. Service was attentive and quick, both our server and busser were nice. We did get sat in a bit of an awkward spot for today's windy weather but once we got the other heater turned on, it was much more comfortable. When I pointed out that two tables next to me had arrived after me and were already being served, the server simply told me lying that it was busy because it was the weekend. I wasn't sure if they had any indoor seating as we were seated outside and didn't see an indoor seating area. The outdoor seating area is in a covered courtyard with open air. All the tables were covered with white tablecloths which gave the ambiance a traditional feel. We ordered eggplant dip to share between us. We thought it would be like a baba ghanouj, but the consistency was very chunky, and not really creamy. We both got kebabs with rice for our mains. Unfortunately neither of us really enjoyed these. The meat was tender, but my husband's chicken kebab was dry. It came with cherry rice, which was unique, as we'd never tried it before. My koobideh (lean ground beef) was much better than the chicken. It was tender and juicy. I didn't think it was amazing though, and overall our food was lackluster. read more

Oh, this place is truly one of the best restaurants I've ever known in LA. Every time I'm in the area, I make sure to come here because the food is consistently amazing. I've tried the flaming shish kebab, chicken kebab, and the stews -- all absolutely delicious. Their appetizers are incredible as well, especially the kashk-e-bademjan, hummus, mast o musir, and the crispy rice with different stews. Everything is so flavorful and fresh. I've also been here for lunch, and the portions are very generous -- honestly, one order can easily be shared by two people. The staff is always wonderful, and they always seem to have a full, attentive team including servers and assistants who make the experience even better. Raffi's is known for its food. This was my second time here and I was not disappointed however, the weight was a little unnerving luckily, we were able to walk around near my miles. They charge $14 for parking that you can easily also park one or two blocks away at public parking lot. The could be there and the chicken thighs were excellent as well as the appetizers and specifically the Tadig. the service was relatively fast, and they were communicating that the kebabs will take a little longer due to the backlog of orders.
