Stopped by Emmi's after hiking Sturtevant Falls so definitely looking for something with a nice portion and filling. Great location in what looks to be the downtown scene. Driving in has great views of the mountains. Parking was easy and free on the streets. The restaurant was busy but manageable for a Saturday morning and Its self seating and pay first which makes it easy when ready to leave. Friendly staff, clean and nice decor With a decent selection on the menu. 2 of us ate - 1 regular burrito and 1 regular breakfast plate. Burrito was a filling portion to the point i was 'almost full'. Breakfast plate was decent, the one minus I had was the potatoes came out cold. I mentioned it when they came back around for the "how is everything" ask and they brought out a brand new plate of hot hot hot potatoes. Great service. Would recommend it and would again. read more

Came on a Saturday for brunch with a group of 6 and there isn't much space for a group that size. We were eventually able to squeeze into a corner spot and got to ordering our food. The pancakes are not your traditional pancakes. They taste VERY healthy (and i love all things healthy) but sometimes you just want fluffy buttermilk pancakes smothered in butter and syrup--especially when you go out to eat. If you're wanting indulgent pancakes these are not it. They seem to be made of whole wheat? Also there are a TON of flies in the restaurant; we spent most of the meal taking a bite and swatting flies. About 2/3 into our meal, a sweet server came and brought a fly/bug fan to help with the flies. First time here (: I was craving breakfast burrito so was recommended by the sweet cashier girl to go with a pastrami breakfast burrito my first time cause I was deciding between that or the og breakfast burrito! So I went with her recommendation & it was so yummy & filling! Very much enjoyed my meal! As for my drink I got the Italian soda which was in the flavor vanilla. It wasn't the greatest. So asked for more vanilla & it helped a little but just think other flavors are so much better ( strawberry, mango, berry) so I wouldn't order that again. I'm always scouting out for a good burger spot and have had Emmi's on my list for a while. Finally got to try the smashburger here and it was delicious! Their tater tots were cooked to perfection and the staff were beyond welcoming and friendly - we had a great lunch overall and can definitely recommend a visit to Emmi's.  We came in for a late lunch on a Saturday (AND Valentine's Day) so we expected it to be packed. The crowds were steady but the staff did a great job of keeping things moving and we really didn't wait long for our food etc.  For my drink I couldn't resist their February special - the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Latte (iced). It had a delightful balance of smooth coffee blended with the chocolate and strawberry - I very much enjoyed it but it was insanely sweet - perfect for all those out there with a sweet tooth lol. Hubby ended up with a "golden latte" (hot) - they had "golden milk" on the menu but I asked them to add a double espresso shot to the golden milk concoction of tumeric, ginger and cinnamon and it was excellent! Not too sweet and perfect spice levels. Would get again.  For our lunch hubby went with the Southwest Tostada Salad with chicken and I went for the Double Smashburger with mayo instead of burger sauce. Hubby was very happy with his salad and it was presented beautifully.  My smashburger was excellent - two quality patties smashed to perfect thinness level with velvety, melty American cheese in between topped with a perfect amount of grilled onions. It had a delectable char flavor and the bread was soft and fluffy - it's a really solid burger overall. Paired with their flawless tater tots it's a great contender in the SGV and I'd get this again.  Portions are "just enough" and I appreciated that we were both able to finish our meals without feeling overly stuffed. Prices are a tad high but on par for the area and everything is good quality. Vibes are outdoorsy and fun with hidden bears in their wall art. The owners are the chefs and Sierra Madre natives - they're proud of their roots and are very active in the community. Truly a lovely local business to support! They have free WiFi, a free water station, and a great selection of Emmi's merch, coffees, and items from local artists. Parking is free street parking with several free (timed) lots in the surrounding area. I really like everything about this place. I was able to customize my tuna sandwich the way I wanted it, which I appreciated and then when it arrived: WOW! It was such a really big sized sandwich that I had to take half home! It was delicious and I could tell all the ingredients were fresh. The lemonade was super yummy. Service was fantastic, everyone had a smile. They cleared the tables as soon as people left so it stayed nice and clean. The cafe itself is very welcoming with local Sierra Madre things painted on the wall. The bathroom was large and clean, and both are appreciated. Really busy on a Saturday afternoon with long wait times for food - our order took about 40 minutes to arrive after having been told it would take about 25 minutes. We also didn't love that you order first at the register and then have to look for your own table as it's a bit chaotic and can mean you're left standing for quite a while depending on your luck on what tables are leaving. Pretty much everything is self-service here besides having the food brought out and tables cleaned up. While the food wasn't perfect, it was definitely still tasty and we hope to return to try some of their other menu items. This time around we ordered the Emmi's burger and BLT. The burger was solid with all the hallmarks you'd expect. The patty was perfectly cooked and my bf appreciated the massive pickle they included. The main gripe he had with this burger was there was actually WAY too much sauce to the point where the burger was super soggy and basically falling apart every bite. The BLT was also pretty basic and decent. The bacon was crunchy and delicious, and the bread and lettuce were fine. Again, following the prior trend, there was way too much mayo added which made every bite taste pretty heavy but because the bread was so hard it somewhat helped with softening it. While there was an included pickle here too it wasn't enough to cut through the heavy flavors. Vibes were cute and we found parking in the nearby areas. Love this place! Been here several times, always great food, clean, comfortable, excellent outdoors when it's nice, counter service very good. I had to loaded breakfast quesadilla with ground sausage. Filled with potatoes, sausage, onions, garlic, I don't remember the rest. When I arrived, I realized this used to be Beantown. I miss the old coffee shop, but this cafe isn't bad! It's still warm and inviting. You order food at the counter and they bring it to your table. I love Emmi's! The spot is located where Beantown used to be, so it's pretty meaningful. Their food is tasty, but I really love their Horchata... It's vegan and homemade, which is a great for me considering I'm lactose intolerant. They extend their hours sometimes which is really nice, and I enjoy sitting outside to people watch. They're definitely attentive, but you do order your food at the counter and then they bring it to you when it's ready. Honestly, we found this place after the gym. It was super cute and in the downtown area of Sierra Madre. We found parking on the side street and walked over. You order first and then get a table. We ordered the unsweetened iced green tea, Dr. Pepper, cranberry orange muffin, chocolate chip cookie, BLT with tater tots, and the chicken club wrap with French fries. The lunch came with a slice of a pickle too. The cranberry orange muffin was dense and not too sweet. The chocolate chip cookie was crispy on the edges and soft in the center. Emmi's might be my best brunch spot ever! No insane wait times, no basic plates pretending to be special, just really good food and kind service. It is toddler friendly, very neighborhood coded, and located in Sierra Madre where it feels like a charming little cabin town moment. After trying Poppy's in Arcadia, it was only natural to try out their breakfast/lunch restaurant in Sierra Madre. In contrast to Poppy's this spot is a full restaurant with plenty of tables inside and outside with servers to deliver your food after ordering at the counter. We just missed the rush this morning so most of their pastries were gone, but knowing how delicious they are at Poppy's I can understand why. Today we tried out a breakfast sandwich with bacon, a side of crispy potatoes and a breakfast burrito along with a Pom Iced Tea. The food was good, and service friendly as well. It wasn't particularly unique or flavorful compared to other breakfasts we've had anywhere else but it was nice and it seems to be popular in the area. The decor is industrial and slightly eclectic, clean, and running smoothly with the amount of staff on hand. In comparison between the two: we LOVE Poppy's in Arcadia, but we like Emmi's too. Most restaurants have kicked up the salt and seasonings to a point that I feel it's messed up. I try to eat healthy; pasture raised meat, Whole Foods yadda yadda, no seed oils unless I'm out...Emmi's tasted like my friend made me breakfast at their house. That's a huge compliment about quality, and freshness. The eggs are clearly eggs, not an egg mix, the sausage looks hand formed, the potatoes are delicious!!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!! I am sooo happy I stopped in with my parents for a Saturday brunch. The quality of the food and ingredients are very high and everything is appropriately priced (yay!). Food rundown: I enjoyed all of it! The avocado toast with an added egg was a perfect size (for reference, it was my first meal of the day and a few hours after a workout). I shared the pancakes with my parents and thought they were so fresh and not greasy tasting at all (huge difference compared to other breakfast spots). I had a few bites of my mom's corn hash and it was very flavorful but would have been a bit heavy as an entire meal for me. Lastly, the maple vanilla latte with almond milk was such a TREAT!! I was looking forward to a cup of coffee and saw this on the menu and could not resist. It is 100% worth it if you are looking for a sweeter coffee speciality. Vibes: I did not feel like I was in SoCal at all. The overcast and cool weather helped but I felt like I was up in the mountains at a cute cafe and the staff were very friendly and attentive. This is exactly the environment and food/drink I was looking for after visiting a family member at the USC Arcadia Hospital. I wish I didn't live 40mins away so I could come back more often. The inside is comfortable, but loud since it is all hard surfaces. The late was good, but the iced teas were weak. One person in our group had a wrap and there was a stick in it. It didn't have any flavor, so not an herb. One breakfast burrito was really good, but the other was mushy with under cooked eggs and little to no potatoes. Walk up and order and food brought to your table. We ordered; chicken club wrap with tater tots & veggie sandwich with fries. We were in the Sierra Madre area and were looking for a local lunch spot. Based on the crowd around Emmi's, we knew this was the go to place. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and is family friendly. It's a pay and seat yourself location which includes a self service area (i.e., get your water, utensils, etc.) however the staff is very friendly and will provide you with what is needed. We ordered three items off of their menu: 1. Hamburger salad - the original order has cheese but we asked to remove it. 2. Salmon Toast - probably one of the best salmon toasts we've had! They don't skimp on the smoked salmon. We love that they used a lemon herb yogurt based instead of cream cheese. Would definitely recommend as a must order. 3. Corned Beef Hash - the burrito was generous size portion that's made for two people to share. The cuts of corned beef are thick and they're pretty generous with the potato filling. Overall we loved our visit to Emmi's and will be back to try out other items off their menu! It's a somewhat newer place. The aesthetic is nice. Love the artwork too. Any spot in Sierra Madre is a great location, in my opinion. The food took longer than expected. Only ordered a chai latte, water, turkey sandwich and side salad to split. Waited 30 minutes. We finished our drinks well before the food arrived. Staff was nice and people were friendly, but they need to fine tune their game. We were two people splitting the order. It came with no utensils, no napkins, no extra plate. Some forethought in what is needed for dining is helpful. Turkey was super dry although they put a generous amount. The best thing was the salad. It was very fresh and the dressing was yummy. Emmi's Sierra Madre is a hometown breakfast cafe restaurant in downtown Sierra Madre, CA. They have breakfast meal, burritos, sandwiches, pastries, fresh salads, and hamburgers. Moreover, they have a full coffee bar. Indoor has modest space with plenty of seats and has abundant natural light; outdoor seats are available with a good street view. It was my first time here despite my copious visits in the area for the last hundred years. Menu items such as coffee, drinks and breakfast/lunch sandwiches were abundant. I had tap WATER, AVOCADO TOASTS and Café Au Lait for breakfast. AT was bloody good as well as their water and coffee. Staff were assiduous especially Chloe. Service was on point. Prices seem fair and highly competitive. Free Wifi. Plenty of parking in the area. Collectively, this makes a pretty good breakfast spot. Overall, we had a sublime dine-in experience and breakfast. I have been here several times and I am so happy I am finally writing them a review. This coffee shop and restaurant is nestled in the foothills of Sierra Madre. If you haven't been to Sierra Madre, it is one of the cutest small towns in LA with mostly local stores and shops. There is one Starbucks and that's it. Everything else from ice cream shop to pizza to Greek food to Japanese, fusion, boutiques, and coffee are local brands. Emmi's is no exception. It replaced Beantown (cafe and restaurant) which had been here for decades. This is not an unwelcome change. These are my favorites from their menu: 1. Breakfast plate: it comes with eggs, fried potatoes, arugula salad, smashed avocado, toast and a choice of bacon, smoked salmon or sausage patty. I don't know how they do it, but the seasoning on the salad and avocado are delicious: light and flavorful. The food looks simple but so tasty and the flavors balanced. I have had this dish with both the smoked salmon and the sausage patty on separate occasions, and both were good. 2. Banana nut muffin OMG. This muffin is so good: buttery, moist, not too sweet. Perfection. 3. Chocolate chip cookie Very delicious. Not dry or too crunchy. Just right. 4. Burritos They have burritos (bacon, sausage and vegetarian) pre-made wrapped in foil at the counter, and you can just grab one and pay for it. You can have burritos custom made as well. 5. Tater tots These are crunchy and addictive. Super good. 6. The coffee is good too. I like their lattes. You order at the counter, and you are given a number and you seat yourself. There is seating both inside and outside. A server will bring out your food. What I love about their setup is that there is a self-serving corner/station where you can get ice water, both plastic cups and lids for water, glass cups, utensils (both plastic and silverware), and 4 kinds of milk: almond, oat milk, 2% and 1/2 and 1/2. I love that there are both dairy and non-dairy options. And, you don't have to pay extra for milk substitutes! I found this station for both to-go and dine-in customers with different milk preferences to be so thoughtful and functional! In this neighborhood cafe, you will find a wonderful casual, relaxed and non-pretentious (not-instagram) vibe. I love it! read more

Popped in unexpectedly for a bite! A friend and I were exploring Sierra Madre and were a little hungry and randomly decided to get some snacks, we ended up ordering cocktail shrimp and meatballs. Weird combo, I know, but both were so scrumptious!! The meatballs were some of the best I've had in awhile and you can tell they were made in house, they came in a rich marinara sauce and the toasted bread was great to scoop it all up. Nice, charming neighborhood spot off of the main Boulevard that runs through the quaint little town of Sierra Madre. Lots of street parking on the outside. Inside is spacious, with plenty of room to dine and hang out and listen to Norah Jones' greatest hits. Outdoor sidewalk seating as well so you can watch the Teslas zip by. Ordered the breakfast burrito and an iced green tea. Prices aren't cheap at all (the burrito itself is $15), but I think that it's expected around these parts. If you order the junior-sized, they have it already wrapped up and sitting under a heat lamp on the counter. Nice option for a quick grab and go. I'd have to say this burrito was top tier, best easily that I've had in the Pasadena area. It's hefty, and filled with quality ingredients. The tortilla is nicely warmed and crisp. Inside is a nice ratio of crispy tots and bacon, along with a pico de gallo and avocado salsa. The accompanying green salsa wasn't too spicy and added just a little zest to the burrito. You'll definitely be full after polishing off one; I could barely finish mine. Outstanding stuff! Yes, these other yelpers aren't wrong. Check this place out if it's just for the burrito alone.
