A pretty faultless cafe -- almost to the point that I'd like to gate-keep it! Clean and minimally decorated, the cafe is quiet (music is turned down low) so it is a perfect place to work or study. There is plenty of table space and outlets. The barista was very kind when taking my order. I ordered a the vanilla lavender latte and it was soooo good! The espresso is smooth yet just strong enough. I got 50% sweetness and it was perfect, not too sweet while the lavender flavor was still present. An added bonus was that it was a pretty drink. My only note would be that the internet is quite spotty -- disconnecting several times (but reconnecting immediately after). My boss stopped by to grab us some drinks from here! I took a look at their menu & was between the strawberry matcha or the yuzu matcha tonic! I told him to ask the cashier which one she recommended & to go with that. She said the strawberry matcha because it was sweeter & the other option was more savory! He knew that was the right choice for me since everyone that knows me knows I love all things sweet! Stopped in last weekend for a pick me up. I got the gula aren latte and my husband got the yuzu espresso tonic. The gula aren latte was amazing- with the caramel notes and the cream top it really tasted like flan. I got it half sweet and it was still definitely sweet enough. The yuzu tonic was very citrusy and refreshing, perfect for a hot day. The interior is very clean and sleek, and it seems to be good for working or having a a chill coffee date. I have been coming to this coffee shop for coffee. I always order Mocha Nutella latte and vanilla lavender latte. I recently tried the nutella croissant. The mocha Nutella has a strong taste of chocolate, but not overpowering the taste of the coffee. The scent of the lavender is also strong for the vanilla lavender latte. They also warmed up my croissant without me requesting. A lot of people were occupying the tables with laptops - seems like an excellent study spot. Employee was really nice taking my order. A new coffee/matcha shop that seemed to be another hyped up place. Was pretty tucked away and there was plenty of street parking when I went on a Wednesday morning. The interior was spacious and authentically pleasing. Staff was super friendly when placing an order as well. I ordered the matcha with cream and opted for almond milk. I kept it at normal sweet, just to try it first. I tried to order the spicy chicken salad and sub for avocado since I don't eat meat but for some reason they were unable to do so. Was excited to see a new coffee shop in the 626 and finally had time to make it out there to try! It's located on the side of a busy street but free street parking was quite easy to find. It was quite crowded in here so the line was quite long initially and it took them quite a long time to make our drinks. The shop is on the smaller side but there's plentiful tables to sit and chat. We opted to try the Gula Aren latte since it sounded more unique with the Indonesian brown sugar and we were very happy with our decision. We did ask for half sweet and it was perfect. The drink has this caramelized brown sugar taste with a bit of smoky aftertaste as well and I'm always a sucker for a cream top. Tekosu is a new-ish coffee spot in Arcadia and I had a wonderful first visit! We loved our drinks (the Gula Aren Latte and Creamy Biscoff Latte), their oatmeal cream pie sandwich cookie was to die for, staff were so welcoming, vibes were sleek and chic, it was surprisingly quiet inside given its central location, and I LOVE that they let you adjust sweetness levels. I'd come back again for the oatmeal cream pie cookie just in-and-of itself (but the lattes were excellent too). The cookie part was thin with a beautiful crispiness to it and the maple cream was divine. Not overly sweet with complex, complimentary flavors and the perfect ratio of cream to cookie. It was huge too - took me three sittings to finish it off! One of the best cookies I've had in quite a while - I hope they keep this one in stock lol.  I got hubby the Gula Aren Latte (hot) and had to sneak a couple of sips for quality control lol - it was lovely and I'd get this for myself in the future. It had a wonderfully roasty sweetness to it with the rich coffee and brown sugar flavors complimenting each other very well. I got it at full sweetness (hubby has quite the sweet tooth) - it was definitely too sweet for me but it would be flawless at maybe 50% for those who don't like as much sugar.  For myself I chose the Creamy Biscoff Latte (iced) at 50% sweetness and it was fantastic - would definitely get this again. This latte had a delightful balance of beloved Biscoff flavor with their delectable espresso and comes with a velvety thick cream top for the perfect finish. At 50% sweet it was just right for me (I don't consume much sugar daily so 50% would probably not be sweet enough for the sugar lovers out there).  The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with great suggestions for my first visit. Prices are on par for the area. They had plenty of seating and a choice of inside with the clean, minimalist aesthetic and tall windows for people watching - or outside on their little cafe tables in the pedestrian terrace area.  Personally I'd probably stay inside - the area can be a tad sketchy (very close to the train station) and there were several homeless people nearby yelling and carrying on. Parking is on the street or in the nearby garage (all free but time limited so be sure to read the signs). I found a spot on the street easily but it can be a little tight. All in all this is an excellent new addition to the SGV coffee scene and I'll definitely be back - please stock up on the oatmeal sandwich cookies for me haha! read more

#178 in my Coffeeshop Chronicles. Tekosu is the newest coffeeshop to open in the SGV, and lucky for me, it's just a few minutes from home. Located in Arcadia, Tekosu is an Asian specialty coffeeshop, with signature drinks like their yuzu espresso tonic and gula aren latte. They've been open for only two or three months but have already drawn in a loyal fan base. I've stopped by a few times now and have tried their gula aren latte, matcha matcha cloud, and biscoff latte. The gula aren is just a brown sugar latte with a cream top, but the brown sugar flavor tastes more like Black sugar syrup sold at korean markets, the kind of syrup that boba is cooked in or that's used in brown sugar milk teas. I don't know how else to describe it, other than to say the flavor was richer and more caramelized than your typical Starbucks/Monin/ Torani etc. syrup. Moving on, I wasn't a fan of their matcha matcha cloud. It wasn't bad but it also didn't impress me or stand out amongst the many matcha spots I frequent. I did however enjoy the biscoff latte, a sweet and creamy treat in liquid form. I was craving a drink and stumbled on Tekosu! It's very local to me so I decided to come by on a Friday early afternoon to get a drink. It's a pretty spacy café with maybe about 10 tables where you can sit and enjoy their drinks. It also seems to be a popular place to do homework, work, and catch up with friends. The staff were super welcoming! There were 2 people working at the time, one at the cashier and one making drinks. We asked the cashier what their most popular drinks were and she happily answered our questions and gave her recommendations. We opted for the matcha sweet cream top latte and Biscoff latte. I absolutely loved the matcha sweet cream top latte. The sweet cream tasted like a vanilla bean ice cream and the matcha itself was very strong and prominent in flavor. When it's mixed together, the cream top added a perfect amount of sweetness into the matcha. I was a little disappointed in the Biscoff latte. I don't know if it was just today but the coffee tasted a little burnt. It was still enjoyable but every sip I took just had a hit of burntness in it. Grabbed some drinks to go after seeing a random, not super obvious at all sign while walking around the 57 Wheeler building in Arcadia. It's located right by the subway line (saw it as I was leaving) and is a quick convenient stop for good coffee & tea. The yuzu matcha tonic ($7.25) had a really nice, refreshing citrus flavor like they use yuzu juice for the base, one of my favorites I've had. The lavender latte ($6.75) was good as well. Drinks are 16oz which is way better than other cafes serving $9 12oz drinks. Kind of a strange place to drive to specifically since there's not much except medical and other retail offices. Finding it was a little confusing - the address says Wheeler, but the entrance is actually on the First Ave side of the building. There isn't much signage either, just a small sign on the sidewalk that's easy to miss if you're not paying attention. The lady at the register was really friendly and took the time to answer my questions, which I appreciated. I ordered two drinks: the Creamy Biscoff Latte and the Vanilla Lavender Latte. The Biscoff latte had a nice balance of sweet and creamy and was definitely my favorite of the two. The vanilla lavender latte was sweet as well, but for my taste, the lavender overpowered the vanilla a bit. The cafe is long with around 10 tables inside with a few more outside. However if there's a lot of people coming in at once, the space to order gets cramped as it's right in front of the door. Parking was a little tricky since I couldn't find it right away, so I parked in the post office lot, but there is street parking available. Overall, both drinks were good and priced around $7 each. But when mixed thoroughly, this once potent brew becomes cuddly and sweet. The easiest method of parking will be the rear parking structure; however, the structure is sketchy with profanity ridden graffiti and suspicious, off-putting stains. Another parking option is alongside this business's street; signs say, "2 Hour Parking." However, street parking is competitive and difficult. In addition, Tekosu Cafe (Arcadia) is very difficult to find since the building has no name! I wandered for eight minutes before finding the entrance; it's located on the same sidewalk that touches the 24 Hour Fitness building. Staff is cordial and professional. Staff is always working behind the counter. My drink took about two minutes. Good time! As mentioned, I love the Vanilla Lavender Latte ($6.75). I couldn't stop smiling as I sipped. It's strong, flavorful, and high-quality. Once thoroughly stirred, the flavors felt natural and balanced. I felt like I was gliding by the clouds in a clear blue sky. Concerning ambiance, Tekosu Cafe (Arcadia) is a delightful, hidden location to study/work. There's about eight electrical outlets. I especially loved how these outlets had usb ports for charging cables. There's also customer internet with password; customers must speak to staff for internet details. The location also has a gender neutral restroom in the back. Tekosu Cafe (Arcadia) also feels spacious with its tall ceiling. There's nine interior tables and three small patio tables. The music is also upbeat. Everything felt very clean and shiny. This business is a hidden, popular gem. Overall, I had a magical experience at Tekosu Cafe (Arcadia).
