Nice spot to grab some pastries and morning coffee. It's a small little spot next to the 24 Hour Fitness in Arcadia. They open early at 7 AM, so it's a nice spot if you're an early riser. I ended up getting this chocolate donut/croissant called a Babka Pinwheel, and it was quite delicious. I also got a Cold Brew with a sweet cream top, and I loved it. A nice cold brew with a slightly sweet top was quite refreshing. The Nutella Mocha Latte was also pretty good, and I'm glad they were able to adjust the sweetness to 50%, which I thought was perfect and not too sweet. Overall, a nice place in Arcadia to get your morning started. Parking - You can park in the 24 Hour Fitness lot, or there was plenty of street parking in the morning. read more

Got a Jasmine Milk Tea and sadly it was really disappointing. It tasted watered down - not particularly like tea nor like milk or sugar. I asked for light ice but it still came with half a cup full of ice. It was $6 after tax and the cup is pretty small. The work area is minimalist and simple. Good for small groups of 2 or less. They sell some baked goods and food as well. There's one gender neutral restroom but you have to ask for the door code. Service is pretty fast. The air conditioning is nice and strong. Interior is aesthetically pleasing, and the greeting I received and assistance ordering was top notch. Upon ordering, I asked what are the popular drinks and elected for the Gula Aren Latte. See below for thoughts on that. Located on First street, with street parking available. A bit difficult to see the restaurant sign from the street due to a large tree located right in front. Drinks: I loved my Gula Aren Latte. Dark brown sugar, espresso, cream top, and milk. You couldn't get simpler, but the richness and flavor profile of the coffee is what stood out. Silky and 75% sugar fit my desired profile for a coffee drink. My wife loved her strawberry match latte. Only had a sip, so can't really comment. Ambiance: Great for catching up with friends, or getting work done. Interior is clean and inviting. Taking us by surprise as the coffee shop seemed to be Indonesian from some posts we saw. Then we spotted they had Gula Aren Latte on the menu, which was basically Indonesian's term for Brown/Palm Sugar and indeed commonly used sweetener for iced coffee there. Being around the area, we stopped by to grab a cup. It's a pretty calm spot to chill and even work as the background noise wasn't overly loud. We got their signature Gula Aren Latte and Matcha Matcha cloud. The first iconic drink did live up our expectation with great coffee taste and strong brown sugar flavor. We also loved their house cream top as it just served the right sweetness and thickness. The Matcha did impress me being bold and umami, and going all out with matcha cream top was certainly great choice. The cafe is right next to metro a line so it seems like a five minute walk from the station. There is street parking available but it has a two hour limit. There are some tables but they fill up quick. It's a great place to study/work and the music they played was decent. I ordered the croissant-cado sandwich and it was okay; there wasn't enough toppings so all I could taste was egg. I originally wanted to get a pastry but the selection available didn't look very appetizing. I also ordered the matcha matcha cloud and it was also okay. It had a nice green color but the flavor wasn't as strong as I would have liked but it was almost there. My friends ordered biscoff lattes and they were good! We ordered the Matcha Yuzu Tonic (50% sweetness) and a decaf Americano, and both were enjoyable. The Matcha Yuzu Tonic was especially refreshing--the bright, tart yuzu complemented the rich matcha really well without overpowering it. The decaf Americano was also surprisingly solid, especially compared to many other decaf coffees I've had. The café has a clean, comfortable interior with several tables, making it a nice spot to get some work done. Found this coffee shop after Alice's Dog Park and what a cute spot! Plenty of seating outside (with shade), which was a plus since I had my dogs with me. My order total was $30.94 for 5 items. Matcha Sweet Cream Top (3/5) - $7.50 The matcha latte was standard, nothing crazy. It had a nice flavor, but I can't say it was one of the best I've had. A pretty faultless cafe -- almost to the point that I'd like to gate-keep it! Clean and minimally decorated, the cafe is quiet (music is turned down low) so it is a perfect place to work or study. There is plenty of table space and outlets. The barista was very kind when taking my order. I ordered a the vanilla lavender latte and it was soooo good! The espresso is smooth yet just strong enough. I got 50% sweetness and it was perfect, not too sweet while the lavender flavor was still present. An added bonus was that it was a pretty drink. My only note would be that the internet is quite spotty -- disconnecting several times (but reconnecting immediately after). I have been coming to this coffee shop for coffee. I always order Mocha Nutella latte and vanilla lavender latte. I recently tried the nutella croissant. The mocha Nutella has a strong taste of chocolate, but not overpowering the taste of the coffee. The scent of the lavender is also strong for the vanilla lavender latte. They also warmed up my croissant without me requesting. My boss stopped by to grab us some drinks from here! I took a look at their menu & was between the strawberry matcha or the yuzu matcha tonic! I told him to ask the cashier which one she recommended & to go with that. She said the strawberry matcha because it was sweeter & the other option was more savory! Tekosu is officially my new favorite coffee spot! It's super convenient--about 7 minutes from my work--so it's the perfect stop to grab a drink before heading in. I tried it for the first time recently and ended up going back four more times that same week... that's how good it is. The drinks are incredible. I had the Biscoff latte and Gula Aren Latte, and they were amazing--you can actually taste every component, especially the espresso, which I love. They only offer one size, but it's honestly the perfect amount. The space itself is beautiful, with a clean black-and-white aesthetic and tons of natural light that makes it feel really calm and inviting. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Also, their pastries are a must--especially the oatmeal cream-filled cookie (if you're lucky enough to catch it in stock). I've been craving it ever since. Stopped in last weekend for a pick me up. I got the gula aren latte and my husband got the yuzu espresso tonic. The gula aren latte was amazing- with the caramel notes and the cream top it really tasted like flan. I got it half sweet and it was still definitely sweet enough. We came in to check out Tekosu Cafe to grab some matcha and it was pretty good. The location is quite clean and set up very nicely. The spot can't be seen right away from the street but there is plenty of street parking. The inside was busy and almost to capacity. There were plenty of patrons studying or just hanging out and enjoying some drinks. Service was adequate and the drink we ordered was made quick. We shared a Matcha Latte with oat milk and up charge was .50 cents for the substitute. The drink was balanced with sweetness and ceremonial grade matcha. Each time, I feel like the thickness of the drinks throw me off but in a good way. I tried their biscoff creamy coffee - this was okay. Their matcha drinks are the star of the show. They are strong in flavor and do not disappoint. I wanna try their breakfast options but they're just a little too pricey for me. The nutella croissant is a skip. Was excited to see a new coffee shop in the 626 and finally had time to make it out there to try! It's located on the side of a busy street but free street parking was quite easy to find. It was quite crowded in here so the line was quite long initially and it took them quite a long time to make our drinks. The shop is on the smaller side but there's plentiful tables to sit and chat. We opted to try the Gula Aren latte since it sounded more unique with the Indonesian brown sugar and we were very happy with our decision. We did ask for half sweet and it was perfect. The drink has this caramelized brown sugar taste with a bit of smoky aftertaste as well and I'm always a sucker for a cream top. Would say the latte prices are definitely getting more and more expensive but I would definitely come back for this unique drink. read more

A new coffee/matcha shop that seemed to be another hyped up place. Was pretty tucked away and there was plenty of street parking when I went on a Wednesday morning. The interior was spacious and authentically pleasing. Staff was super friendly when placing an order as well. I ordered the matcha with cream and opted for almond milk. I kept it at normal sweet, just to try it first. I tried to order the spicy chicken salad and sub for avocado since I don't eat meat but for some reason they were unable to do so. The salad was pretty decent and the matcha was not bad either. My friend got the smoked salmon avocado toast and gula aren latte. Tekosu is a new-ish coffee spot in Arcadia and I had a wonderful first visit! We loved our drinks (the Gula Aren Latte and Creamy Biscoff Latte), their oatmeal cream pie sandwich cookie was to die for, staff were so welcoming, vibes were sleek and chic, it was surprisingly quiet inside given its central location, and I LOVE that they let you adjust sweetness levels. I'd come back again for the oatmeal cream pie cookie just in-and-of itself (but the lattes were excellent too). The cookie part was thin with a beautiful crispiness to it and the maple cream was divine. Not overly sweet with complex, complimentary flavors and the perfect ratio of cream to cookie. It was huge too - took me three sittings to finish it off! One of the best cookies I've had in quite a while - I hope they keep this one in stock lol.  I got hubby the Gula Aren Latte (hot) and had to sneak a couple of sips for quality control lol - it was lovely and I'd get this for myself in the future. It had a wonderfully roasty sweetness to it with the rich coffee and brown sugar flavors complimenting each other very well. I got it at full sweetness (hubby has quite the sweet tooth) - it was definitely too sweet for me but it would be flawless at maybe 50% for those who don't like as much sugar.  For myself I chose the Creamy Biscoff Latte (iced) at 50% sweetness and it was fantastic - would definitely get this again. This latte had a delightful balance of beloved Biscoff flavor with their delectable espresso and comes with a velvety thick cream top for the perfect finish. At 50% sweet it was just right for me (I don't consume much sugar daily so 50% would probably not be sweet enough for the sugar lovers out there).  The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with great suggestions for my first visit. Prices are on par for the area. They had plenty of seating and a choice of inside with the clean, minimalist aesthetic and tall windows for people watching - or outside on their little cafe tables in the pedestrian terrace area.  Personally I'd probably stay inside - the area can be a tad sketchy (very close to the train station) and there were several homeless people nearby yelling and carrying on. Parking is on the street or in the nearby garage (all free but time limited so be sure to read the signs). I found a spot on the street easily but it can be a little tight. All in all this is an excellent new addition to the SGV coffee scene and I'll definitely be back - please stock up on the oatmeal sandwich cookies for me haha! read more

The Nutella Mocha Latte had like a hint of hazelnut flavor to it mostly just a chocolate-coffee milk drink. #178 in my Coffeeshop Chronicles. Tekosu is the newest coffeeshop to open in the SGV, and lucky for me, it's just a few minutes from home. Located in Arcadia, Tekosu is an Asian specialty coffeeshop, with signature drinks like their yuzu espresso tonic and gula aren latte. They've been open for only two or three months but have already drawn in a loyal fan base. I've stopped by a few times now and have tried their gula aren latte, matcha matcha cloud, and biscoff latte. The gula aren is just a brown sugar latte with a cream top, but the brown sugar flavor tastes more like Black sugar syrup sold at korean markets, the kind of syrup that boba is cooked in or that's used in brown sugar milk teas. I don't know how else to describe it, other than to say the flavor was richer and more caramelized than your typical Starbucks/Monin/ Torani etc. syrup. Moving on, I wasn't a fan of their matcha matcha cloud. It wasn't bad but it also didn't impress me or stand out amongst the many matcha spots I frequent. I did however enjoy the biscoff latte, a sweet and creamy treat in liquid form.
