Came here on a Thursday while walking around the South Pasadena Farmers Market. They had just opened up at their new location in front of Neighbors and Friends Kitchen (an amazing new South Pasadena restaurant... a must try!) This was, hands down, the best smash burger in South Pas. The sauce was soooo good. I got the "double down" which had 2 patties. Loved the bun. Burger was hearty! Super filling. next time I might try the single. All dressed fries were INSANE! That sauce!!!!! I don't know what else to say about these fries other than they were so good and went perfectly well with the smash burger. Definitely get the all dressed fries! read more

After leaving Neighbors & Friends Kitchen, I happened to notice South Pas Smash, which is attached to the restaurant. My friend & I had just eaten but I made a note to come back and give it a try. Their smash burgers receive rave reviews, but they also serve Grilled Cheese Smash, Fried Chicken Sando, Billionaire Bacon Burger, in addition to onion rings & fries. Soft drinks are available as well as craft beer from N&F's tap. The wooden patio area is cozy. You order at the walk-up window, and someone will bring your food to you. I just wanted a snack, so I ordered Onion Rings to go. At $5 it is a good deal. The onion rings were piping hot and smelled so good. I was bummed that there wasn't any ranch dressing in my bag. We came on a Thursday during the local South Pasadena Farmer's Market. I suspect it was busier than usual, and my experience was only 2-stars. I'm rating at 3 under the assumption that service is faster any other time. We ordered 3 burgers and were surprised that it took 25 minutes! Smash burgers are thin and so they cook quickly. All three of the burgers were dry, generally very simple burgers, and price was $40 (June 26). Based on this experience I would not come back. The Double Smash was a good size. Typical burgers come with lettuce, while onions and pickles are options. The Billionaire Bacon Burger was the best of the group since the bacon jam and bacon were flavorful, still but dry and I added ketchup. read more

Stopped at SPS during a trip to the Farmers Market. Good beer options, even better burger and the BEST wrinkle fries. Honestly, I'll be back just for the fries. The outdoor patio is small but it's really perfect. Burgers and beers came out promptly and servers were friendly. read more

Came here when they first opened, just simply delicious! Good friendly service. It's a counter service ordering and they have some outdoor benches to enjoy your food. Just as the restaurant's name suggests, they do smash burgers. Order them in single, double! They also serve crinkle fries. Just a heads up as you should know already, but they cook their food to order, so it might take a bit for your food to come out. This is not McDonald's. I would suggest stopping by to get some real solid smash burger. read more

South Pas residents should be required to eat here for burgers. It's too good! And the owner is such a great guy! The staff is great too! Even people from outside South Pas should come in for a damn good burger. Street parking only. This an area with a high walk score in a nice neighborhood. So street parking and a little stroll shouldn't be a problem, unless you're a pain in the rear kinda customer. Little factoid is that this building is historic. I was in the mood for a burger and found this new place that recently opened up at the Fremont Centre Theater building. I ordered the regular cheeseburger with krinkle fries costing 14 bucks. You pay at the small window and they'll bring the food out to you. The burger was delicious and had the perfect flavoring and condiment balance. The fries were served in a small tray but I feel for the price they could've doubled the amount. read more

Smash burgers are hot right now and these folks are making the flaming ones here! Great meat. Tasty buns. Fresh ingredients all around that make this a burger not to miss. The seating is a little limited but if you arrive and can find a spot, the food is best eaten fresh. Service can be spotty when they get busy but that's everyone so I can't fault them for being busy. Tucked away on the southeast corner of El Centro and Fremont in South Pasadena is a hidden gem that is worth talking about. Service, food and ambience is top notch. South Pas Smash serves one of the best smash burgers I've had. The homemade sauce is fantastic. The potato bun is soft, supple and just enough body to gently support the tasty and crispy burger patty. Home made pickles add the perfect crunch and tang to balance it all out. Bottle beverages only, so make sure you try their root beer. I hear they change the brand frequently. One of my guests had the chicken sandwich, which was devoured without any words. That's a good sign. As a connoisseur of onion rings, these are among the best. Crispity and crunchety! Yesterday, on a hot summer evening, I decided to try South Pas Smash. I had been doing some online search in and around my neighborhood and came across this fairly new burger place. Supporting local business is very important to me. We were greeted at the order window by Kya. She noticed that I was holding a flyer that She and her dad, James, had passed out in our neighborhood the week prior. Both James and Kya were very helpful about how the burgers are prepared and the both had a great sense of humor. The patio out front is where the seating is and although it was covered by umbrellas and a roll down shade, it was hot out. Everything on the patio was spotless and there was some great music playing as we sat and ate. The burgers were fresh and very tasty. James told me about the mustard based sauce and homemade pickles. the sauce was the perfect flavor without overpowering the beef flavor I look for in a great burger. Fresh homemade pickles? Outstanding. This cheeseburger was juicy and cooked to perfection. James told me they never freeze their meat. With onion, lettuce and cheese, it was a fantastic burger packed into a fresh Potato Bun. The fries and Onion Rings were served hot and crisp with a side of very fresh ranch dressing. Great little spot in South Pas. Absolutely delicious smash burgers (a little pricey, but about the same price as Shake Shack). Also, for those of us in the gluten free gang, they have GF buns!!! The prices are bit high for the amount of food you receive, but I walked away feeling like I paid for quality and not quantity. The smash burger and onion rings were very good, and the young lady who took the order was very friendly as well as the man who gave me my order. Not bad, not great. Outdoor seating only. No bathrooms. Small place. Burger was nice and thin but a little dry, a little burnt and waaay too salty. Something left a bitter taste in my mouth. This place is nothing compared to Goldburger in Highland park. Just make the drive there. Today during my treat day i also got a classic orange crush (the glass bottle ones , fancy!), the crinkle cut fries and the dr pepper cake. The fries were perfectly salted for my taste and crunchy while being soft inside. dr pepper cake was a sweet treat all on its own. Very nostalgic. It had the icey icing on top with little sprinkles dotting the surface. Nicely moist and such a throwback to cakes i had when i was younger. Great way to round out the dinner. Cute little pop-up in South Pasadena evenings (I think 4:30-9pm) on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. It uses Piccadilly Grace's kitchen and patio that is not being used at night. Loved the super friendly service and the outdoor patio space is awesome and perfect to bring a dog too. They even have a bowl of water out for dogs. The menu is just burger and fries, but they have a lot of fun drink options. The smash burger and fries are good, but the serving size was a bit small. This new, sweet, scrappy local spot is so wonderful! The people who work here are very kind and the food is delicious. It is outdoors and dog friendly and when I was there they were projecting 80s music videos on a screen which made it feel vibrant and cozy.
