I've been to Granville in Pasadena many times. It is a beautiful three story place with a rooftop, bar and patio as well as regular seating. There is plenty of parking. The last time I was there, I had a Farmhouse Beets appetizer - roasted organic beets, lemon-oregano vinaigrette, feta, arugula, candied pecans - which was delicious. For the main course I got the Chipotle Chicken Club - chicken, bacon, avocado, jack cheese, red onion, chipotle aioli on ciabatta - really good and it also came with potato chips (were a bit too oily). For dessert, I had the Yuzu Olive Oil Cake - oh my, it was sooo good, loved it. Berry Lemonade was good but a little too sweet for my taste. Arturo was our server and was attentive and helpful. Got the poke bowl cause it sounded good. The ahi tuna was yummy. It came with soba noodles. I wasnt a fan of it though. It barely had any tuna and it was more fruity tasting. Sweet potato fries felt like it was missing something. I dont think the sauce they gave us were the right fit for it. 1 of them was blue cheese? I lijed the pasta but would sub for something else other than chicken for next time as it was a little bland. The mint matcha tasted mostly of oat milk. Maybe 2% matcha. I liked the mashed potato. It was buttery and great. Food took a while to come. But drinks were fast. Atmosphere was nice. Good thing it was super hot that day. I really wanted to like this restaurant because the service was decent and interior was nice (though honestly, the restaurant was a bit too loud, so it ended up being a shouting match to hear the person next to you). But the food was subpar for the money. There wasn't anything particularly bad about any of our dishes, but weirdly everyone at the table agreed that we paid more than we should have what we ordered. I ordered the Rainbow Trout, which most Yelpers seem to rave about, but I found the amount of seasoning kind of off-putting, as it was trying a bit too hard to fit flavor into every bite. The fish itself was pretty oily, and they breaded it as well to try to get it crispy on both sides, which doesn't sound like a bad thing, but it had a bunch of lemon pepper salt with more lemon zest, with garlic powder. Again, not a bad thing necessarily but also not something I was thinking of when I expected the fish to take center stage. The fish size was pretty small relative to the price charged ($36). I would estimate it's about a 12oz fish filet that was cooked, resulting in a 8oz fish filet. Personally, the over seasoning, breading, and oily fish combined to make it not an enjoyable meal, given the price. I think it would have been worth it more at $24, and with less seasoning to let the fish actually shine through, maybe with a bit of tartar sauce or house sauce on the side, rather than drenching the fish in a lemon sauce that's not optional. My wife got the village breakfast, which people also raved about on Yelp, and I can't help but think these people are either astroturfing or being intentionally misleading. The Yelpers described it as their favorite dish. My wife found the steak over cooked (she ordered medium rare steak and got well done). The country fried potatoes for the breakfast were more like french fries, heavily salted and garlic powder, with oregano, and while they tasted fine for me, was again, overpowering to my wife because they were overseasoned. I didn't take a picture of my sister's lunch, who ordered the Granville salad, which was just ok according to her and pretty expensive for a salad. Maybe I'm just not the target market, but $100 plus taxes and tips for 4 people at lunch seems kind of out of touch with today's economy. read more

I've walked passed this restaurant on plenty of times and yesterday I finally took the time to check it out with my mother. The ambiance is incredible, high ceiling a large bottle filled library of a bar with shelves from the bottom of the bar to the ceiling. The place is very clean and the servers are extremely kind helpful. Upon walking in Trever, the host, assisted us in finding our seat. There was a happy hour but you have to sit in the middle tall long table or at the bar on upper patio or inside to. Qualify for it from 3-6 We chose the booth and we ordered the mushrooms platter and done noodle salad. My mother got the Mediterranean white fish. The server Julian was really wonderful. I couldn't deceive on hot or cold coffee or cold brew and he brought me a sample of the cold brew with oat milk which I decided would be perfect. The done noodles salad was very flavorful, the ginger on top was a little hard to chew but the plant based vegan chicken was a great cutlet very savory. We will definitely return again. read more

Granville is not just great food, it's a wonderful experience. We showed up at 11:20 and they don't open until 11:30. They got a lot of good stuff on the menu. We started with the artisan bread as an appetizer, and then the sweet potato fries. The bread and butter was really good. The sweet potato fries were a solid choice almost got Brussels sprouts may do that next time. I was really considering the Wagyu beef stroganoff as well. . A co-worker had the spicy pasta and loved it. We were there celebrating a special occasion, a retirement celebration. . I ordered the rainbow trout top 5 I have had in a really lon time. They brought out a card for her retirement, which surprised her, and they provided a dessert too. The food, the service, and the experience were all five star. If you want to go somewhere for a special meal or to celebrate, Granville is a great choice. I definitely plan to come back. I picked my meal from looking at the Yelp pictures, not the menu. It was nice to get out of the summer heat into an air conditioned restaurant. I wasn't expecting a salty drink. I had to wash it down with iced water. My friend enjoyed her agave vanilla cream soda. She gladly accepted a refill. The grilled mushrooms were nicely seasoned. We enjoyed the variety: oyster and trumpet mushrooms. The farmhouse beets were served with arugula, feta, candied pecans, and a lemon vinaigrette. These were nice starters. I ordered the poke bowl. The portion size was perfect for lunch. It contained tuna, soba noodles at the base, small cubes of mango & avocado, toasted coconut, red onion, basil, and sesame seeds. The ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented. The pasta alla vodka was slightly spicy. It consisted of "mezze maniche" or large tubular pasta, pungent pecorino cream, tomato, garlic, and shallots. It was topped with grated Parmesan cheese. This was a heavier entree. I think reservations are definitely recommended. We arrived yesterday evening at 6 p.m. after watching the new Spider-Man movie at the Landmark movie theater in Pasadena at 3 p.m. and it was an hour wait. The rooftop patio seating was closed last night. Lesson learned: even if reservations aren't easily made online, it's worth a phone call ahead of time to try to make one. Beautiful inside with two separate downstairs areas and one upstairs. Don't approve of the large TVs in the bar area but the sound was off at least. Once we were seated (and by the way, the hostesses were super friendly and hospitable), Joe was our helpful server. We ordered a Last Word and a Negroni with brussel sprouts to start with. The drinks were ok, the brussel sprouts were super tasty and well charred. Next we ordered the pork chop and chicken skillet. I wanted to order the peri peri chicken but they were out of it. We also ordered a boulevardier and espresso martini. The pork and chicken were so tender and flavorful! My espresso martini tasted like a smooth liquid dessert . Very loud inside. Happy Hour Only! Prior to dinner in Pasadena, we popped in for some happy hour. At this time there are select days at this location where there is all day happy hour-- I believe Monday- Wednesday. Other weekdays its select hours of happy hour that starts at three. Happy hour consist of select beers, wine, and cocktails. With beer starting at $6.50 and cocktails going up to 13 dollars. Plus, there is a wide range of food items to compliment your drinks. The ambiance at this location is particularly nice. I think this is one of my favorite locations. On the first floor that is a large bar, plus there is a roof top patio and seating on three different floors. Note, happy hour is only served at the first flow bar unfortunately. The service is always great at this location. The bartender was very attentive during our visit. In front of the restaurant there is street parking that gets busy at night. Prior to 6pm, some parking in front is limited to one hour so read the signs carefully. Also, the parking in front is metered so pay the pay the meter. Did not care for the duck butter but my sister did like it. The Iced Carmel Latte was a great price for Happy Hour and was AMAZING. Been wanting to check out the rooftop area so we came here for happy hour. Once we sat down, we were told the happy hour menu is only served on the first floor in the bar. We had sweet potato fries, thick cut French fries, basic cheeseburger, village burger and hefeweizen from a local brewery. Had dinner here Sunday night. My friend wanted to sit on the rooftop so we sat at the bar upstairs. The open air concept was so cute. I had a delicious bloody mary and a beer. My friend had a cucumber martini and a glass of wine. We both had the Pork Chop dinner (no apple sauce), and it was so good. Pork, the other white meat. This is like my 10th time coming here and I always come back for the tacos !!! Steak tacos are delicious! This time added a few more items to the menu so I wanted to share my thoughts on the food especially cause I didn't see these items on the menu so I figured I try something new. Brussels sprouts are good , might be to lime/lemonie but I ordered mine extra crispy. Side of Mac n cheese , pretty cheesy , can't go wrong. And the chicken soup mmm wasn't the best. Basic soup. This is really a 3.5. Great spot for a nice lunch or dinner! I've been to a few locations and the ambiance at this location is really lovely, especially on the rooftop. The food is decent, maybe a little overpriced for what it is and given all of the fast casual places around here, but it would be good for a business or nicer lunch on a weekday or a date night. My favorite is the Santa Barbara chicken sandwich. The service is friendly and professional, but is pretty slow. I've probably been here 25+ times over the years and always had to wait at every stage of the process. Last time I went, we waited about 10 minutes just for someone to approach us and offer us water. I came here with six of my cousins for a "Mom's dinner," so we were a party of seven. One of them suggested Granville, and it's definitely a spot you can't miss--it's on a corner with plenty of street parking, plus a lot behind the restaurant. We went on a Saturday night, so we expected a wait and ended up waiting just over an hour. Once seated, our drinks arrived quickly. I wasn't drinking alcohol but ordered a mocktail called Elixir (granny smith apple, cucumber, thyme and coriander shrub, lemon juice). It was not only beautifully presented but also delicious! The vibe inside is amazing. Even though it was packed, it wasn't overly loud, so we could easily chat at our table. Our server, Jose S., was fantastic--helpful with recommendations, attentive without being rushed, and made small talk that felt genuine. For my meal, I ordered the Bacon and Blue Burger: wagyu beef, sustainable cane duroc bacon, Point Reyes aged blue cheese, port wine reduction, horseradish aioli, caramelized onions, mushrooms, arugula, on a brioche bun, served with house potato chips. There was no wait for the downstairs area but since we wanted to be at the rooftop, we waited about 30 minutes for a table. The vibe is super cute and the service was really friendly. The drinks were all great, but the food was just okay. A few of us ordered the wagyu stroganoff and the meat was tender and flavorful, and our server gave us a heads up about the horseradish, which we really appreciated. Amazing restaurant with rooftop seating. Don't worry, there's an elevator. Our party of six got seated pretty quickly for a Sunday afternoon. The waiter was very attentive. We ordered appetizers and drinks , chatted a bit, then ordered dinner. The food came out together, not great timing but luckily there was room on the table. My black and blue burger was outstanding. The bacon, wish I had a pound of it. The flavor was like no other. I ordered my burger well and it was a bit undercooked for my taste but I didn't bother sending it back. I've been curious about this place for awhile; their DineLA lunch menu finally brought me in. I don't come to the Lake Ave district all that often because parking is difficult, more so than Old Town I think. I quickly discovered Granville is a very popular place. It's located on the corner of Lake and Del Mar. Unlike some of the businesses on the east side of Lake that have entrances on Lake as well as from the rear parking lot, Granville only has a Lake Ave entrance. There are 5 Granville locations in LA. Some take reservations; Pasadena does not. The restaurant has 3 levels. Ground level has 2 dining rooms, one with a bar and communal table. There's a sidewalk dining area on Del Mar and 3 outdoor tables on Lake. The mezzanine has a dining nook that wasn't open when I was there, plus the restrooms and, I think, private dining room(s). The rooftop is a dining space and has its own bar. The DineLA menu included 3-courses and a beverage (non-alcoholic), with all items off the regular menu (and smaller portion sizes). My berry lemonade was quite nice. The Uptown Mac and Cheese was made uptown with the addition of chicken, peas and asparagus. Tasty with some crispy edges. The Poke Bowl was good, although the tuna was not seasoned with soy sauce or sesame oil or anything. There were soba noodles, mango, avocado and other ingredients, but many were overpowered by cilantro, an omnipotent herb. They were out of the cherry almond chip gelato I wanted, so I had the flourless chocolate cake, which came with vanilla cream and port cherries. It was fine. I was at the bar, and the bartenders were pretty attentive. I'd return, because the menu is pretty large. read more

No wait, gorgeous views, and the Espresso Martini was absolutely top-tier--perfectly balanced and crafted by a bartender who clearly knows his art and even tailored it to my taste. My family and I tried Granville per my brother's recommendation from a previous positive experience he had in the Studio City location. Upon walking in, you'll find an upscale bar on the right and variety of tables on the left-hand side of the restaurant. I recall my mother really digging the shrimp taco, while my brother loved the chicken taco. The big plate of chicken was a huge hit in my family's table. Apart from the half chicken itself, there was an abundance of mashed potatoes and broccolini. My brother devoured his ahi tuna steak and noodles, I guess that's the plate I'll have to try for myself for future visits. I myself, enjoyed the branzino plate - but for the price tag, I would have liked a slightly bigger portion of beets and perhaps a small salad to complement my fish. Still an overall fantastic dish, I was the first to clear my plate. If you're driving or cutting back on alcohol, they have a small mocktail menu. We stopped by for a drink on the rooftop bar area but apparently it was closed and downstairs was already last call. We stoped in around 8:40 on a Thursday night. I guess they close early. Not only us, there were three others that walked in as well. We did manage to get some drinks and a snack. But honestly we felt rushed throughout the whole experience. About 15 minutes after we sat, there was a group of about 8 that also walked in and they were also notify about last call. I think some got drinks while a few others that walked in afterwards weren't allowed. They said the same things we did regarding the hours. Even with holiday season, I don't think they have holiday hours. We always normally enjoy our visit each time but this experience, it was just whatever. Went for dine la last weekend and was so glad I got to try this spot! It's a newer building with a chic vibe. There are no reservations so the wait can be long so time it wisely or look for seating in the bar area. I will say the dine la menu was awesome! Literally in times when everything is $$$ it was a great deal for good eats! I tried: - Uptown mac and cheese which was soo yummy and filling! It's similar to the one I make at home and was a real comfort food. Loved the veggies added. - Bacon & blue burger was really delicious! This location in Pasadena has a large shared parking lot in the back which is free for the first 90 minutes and is also free after 7 pm Mon to Sat. I assume it's free all day on Sunday. Unfortunately they don't take reservations. It's walk in only, so you may have to wait during busy times. I came Saturday night around 6 pm with a party of 4 and the wait was quoted at ~1 hour. Luckily the wait was a bit shorter and we got a text that our table was ready after 40 minutes. They have a good drink selection, including some non alcoholic options as well. I ordered the Elixir mocktail ($12) as the combination of incredients sounded interesting, but it was more sour than I expected and didn't have as much of an apple taste as I was expecting based on the description. It was still good though. I personally found the food portions to be on the small side. We ordered fries to share for the table, and while it was a good appy to munch on, split among 4 people it wasn't much. For my main, I got the Village burger ($19) with tomato bisque on the side (+$5). Again, the burger was on the small side, and I personally found it a bit bland as well. The tomato bisque was amazing though, and hands down was my favorite part of the meal. My other friends enjoyed their food as well. One friend ordered the spicy pasta with grilled chicken ($22 + $6 for chicken), which was probably the item with the biggest portion at the table. It was surprisingly spicy but had really good flavor, so he really enjoyed it. The other two ordered the pork chops and a spring salad and said their food was solid. After we finished eating, we sat around and chatted for a while longer over drinks. We never felt rushed and ended up being one of the last tables to leave. read more
