Came here for dinner as I was gifted a certificate. Bone Marrow (4/5): big portion and was tasty with the grilled bread. Shrimp Alfredo Pasta (4/5): this was great and I liked that it wasn't heavy like a typical Alfredo pasta. Ribeye (1/5): worst steak I've ever had at a restaurant. Steak was incredibly tough and also initially came out rare. Even after having it cooked more it wasn't much better. If you're looking for a good steak, this is not the place to go. This restaurant is best for drinks, apps, and non-steak entrees. The ambiance was nice and the customer service was excellent, but we were shocked by the quality of the ribeye, especially when their menu states they're one of the top 5 restaurants in LA and acknowledged by Michelin. read more

We only came for drinks and the bar was open. The restaurant didn't seem very busy but everyone was still moving around tending to things. I'm not sure how old the restaurant is but it seems like it's been here a while. It's pretty dark and has a nice date night feel. The drinks were good but I'd say overall the Lime Basil martini was better than the Devil Wears Prada. read more

Drink Only This restaurant has been around since 1984- which says a lot for Pasadena. We have venture to their sister restaurant, across the parking lot recently, so we decide to pop in for a quick drink before our dinner. During our short stay we learned a lot about the restaurant and the long term staff at this location. A unique thing that I learned was the bar that we were sitting at was transported from Chicago- established in the 1920s. This resonated with us being former Chicagoans. Unfortunately we had dinner plans, so we could not stay but the menu looked quite nice, especially nice to hear about the fresh ingredients , mesquite grill for steaks and wood burning oven. The ambiance of the restaurant compliments the menu well- dark, comfy, steak restaurant vibe. Many thanks to Anthony at the bar for providing us a window into this restaurant offerings and the history. Parking lot right outside of the restaurant- good for busy nights in Pasadena. Is it okay to patron a restaurant because you remember how delicious the desserts were? If your answer is a resounding "Yes" then Parkway Grill is one of the spots for you! Prior to dessert, may I suggest the filet mignon, chicken, or rack of lamb? Chicken on a menu at a place as refined as Parkway Grill can only mean one thing; it's good. The succulent, tender, meat was removed from our chicken like flesh from baby-back ribs. I'd say this chicken must have been running around in a field...looking carefully out of the wire fence at the green grass on the opposite side. So close to escaping, you can taste the hope of freedom in each bite. I'm from Colorado, so my eye is easily tempted by the rack of lamb. But this lamb doesn't taste how my grandmother would abuse it. The rack of ribs are perfectly crusted, seasoned, and paired with scalloped potatoes. Not one, not two, but three whole asparagus accompany the meal (It might as well have been parsley). The mild flavor of the lamb and cheesiness of the potatoes hit my tongue like a gentle massage on my shoulders; warm, inviting, relaxing. The forks are as close to shovels as you can get. Wish they were smaller! Eight dollar valet parking. Yelp buddies, I have a secret to share: You can ask for items off the menu at Arroyo Chop House next door (they are sister restaurants). Everyone in our family party enjoyed their steaks, which was impressive. All the steaks were 20yrs+ aged. Service was great on refilling hot waters to more. $8 valet takes credit card or cash. My senior dad who is pretty picky with his steak, actually ate all of his. Forgot what he got but he like how tender it was. The SO thought his 40day NY Steak was decent but nothing that great. Rest of the party thought it was good. None of the bread was dairy-free. Many ppl in our party enjoyed the bread with raisins. The reason we picked this place was due to being in Pasadena, not overly loud like other places, and decent. Also, they surprisingly had a last minute cancellation dinner reservation a week before. Bare in mind, this is the Saturday before Xmas so it's a busy night. A family member works in the area and tried all the steakhouses for work, and tried this place to RSVP. 12/10/25 Chef kiss! Alluring & tasteful, classic ambiance, spectacular & enticing food with impeccable service. Our staff Christmas get together met up here in Pasadena. Take advantage of the valet. Our reservation was set at 6:45 & we were seated promptly. Our server, Chris was a tad late but he took great care of us once he's taken our orders. For starters, Caesar salad, bone narrow, black bean soup & lamb chop "lollipops". Cocktails first, these arrived shortly, The table bread .& butter was tasty but I wish it was warm bread. The bone marrow was rich & savory. The lamb lollipop was a bit cold. The Caesar salad was amazing. I ordered the salmon because I was looking forward to the risotto. The salmon was cooked perfectly but the risotto was probably not quite cooked all the way through because there was some grittiness to it (perhaps the rice was not allowed time to cook through) I would have preferred it to be soft & creamy. I should've mentioned this to Chris but everyone had their dishes already & I did not want to wait for a replacement. One of our group member's Chilean Sea Bass was over cooked. & a server informed us & offered for something on the house while the dish is being prepared again. Classic American fine dining. Came here with my family for an early dinner after a show at the Playhouse, and made a reservation online in advance. We split a holland America farms Bibb lettuce salad and the beet salad to start; the salads were on the small side and meant for 1-2. We also had the bone marrow and hamachi crudo; I really liked the crudo. For my entree, I had the Scottish salmon which came with a good amount of veggies and felt healthy. My sister really enjoyed her scallops and my mom was astounded at how large the whole ginger fried Louisiana catfish was - that fish could've been an entree for two. My dad had the short rib and we also had fries for the table, which were nice and crispy. For dessert, we split a chocolate lava cake which was a sweet way to end the meal. Valet parking is paid but there is some street parking available too. The ladies restroom was arctic cold, so just something to note. Service was friendly but not overbearing. My wife and I celebrated our 38th anniversary here. This was the first time we had ever been here and atmosphere was great not to mention our server Milisent was just great. We both enjoyed our meal as my wife had the surf and turf and I had the braised beef short rib with the scalloped potatoes with grunear sauce, along with a side dish of lobster risotto . The whole night from start to finish was beautiful. The server (mallicent?) was amazing . We started off with a couple drinks, moved on to oysters and the shrimp corn dogs . 5 starts for both. I got the Chilean sea bass which was so buttery and cooked flaky and perfectly pan seared. We also got the bone in filet, Oscar style with a side of the scalloped potatoes. I have never before had a filet bone in, the char was a beautiful perfect med rare.. very hard to come across that beautiful. The potatoes were cheesy, flavorful soft and crispy . I visit this restaurant to celebrate my 29 wedding anniversary celebration! So excited to come back and enjoy the delicious food and the great atmosphere this restaurant offers . John was exceptional waiter and helpful with his recommendations for the currently specials. We brought a bottle of white wine to drink with our meal and he was attentive to open and serve, our glasses were never empty.. The food was outstanding with exception of that lobster Risotto. We talk to the manager when he approached to us to check out how we were doing, and he immediately took it out of the table and offer a complementary dessert. He took the risotto plate off our check. The food quality is always consistently good, and the service is consistent friendly enough that many times I come here by myself and eat dinner in the bar area just to relax after a long day. I never feel alone because the staff is attentive enough to make me feel comfortable but let me have my space. For many people who come here, this too is their second home. Well-sized and stocked kitchen with a variety of traditional and trendy American dishes that range from healthy to hearty. The restaurant is a nice size and can accommodate your large family outing, or if you fancy a quiet dinner with a friend I suggest grabbing a table in the bar area. There is a TV in there (no sound) that will play the sports game du jour and the regular wait staff will service you. The bar is full and the specialty cocktail menu and wine list is pretty modern. Highly recommend you make a reservation unless you come after 7:30, but they do a good job of trying to accommodate everyone. Get the Mary's Chicken, the Beet Salad, or the daily special. This wasn't my first time dining there, but this visit left me quite disappointed with the food. The service, however, was excellent, attentive, and flawless. Their wine list and recommendations were also good. But when I ordered the crab cakes, I was shocked to find bits of crab shell inside. I nearly choked on one piece, which was something I absolutely didn't expect. I was also startled by that experience. On top of that, the fish I ordered was dry and completely bland, making it inedible. After just a few bites, I gave up. I did let the server know, and while he kindly offered to have the dish remade, I no longer wanted to eat it. In the end, he responsibly removed the fish from my bill, which I truly appreciated. Still, for such a famous and long established restaurant, this was very disappointing. I can only hope it was just an off day, and that they'll improve on these issues. read more

The only problems I noticed is that the tables are small and there are way too many plates on the table ....for example a small bread plate and a sharing plate , not to mention cups ... a water glass and wine glass add four people and there was no room for the appetizers. It was really crammed .... We had to use the decorative table to house our extra unnecessary dishes. I also noticed not a single kid in sight ...so great place for a date night for adult only conversations. The food was amazing ! You have the option to request the menu from the chop house next door which is also associated with the Parkway Grill and order steak options as well as lobster, both of which we had and it was delicious. The one thing that I really thought was perfect in form of presentation and delicious, was the dessert . The prices were phenomenal! Trip Advisor lists Parkway Grill as one of the best fine dining restaurants in Pasadena. Since 1984, they have been consistency holding on to that title. The food is quite good and the service stands up. Also on the same grounds is the Royal Chop House, owned by the same company. With some time to kill, I flipped a coin. The choice was Parkway Grill. Sitting at the bar I ordered Crab Cakes, Charred Broccolini and a Petite Filet. The food was nicely prepared and the meal was great. The Crab Cakes were not greasy, the Broccolini was not soggy, and the Filet was a perfect medium rare. My server Nas was very friendly, and he made a couple of great drink recommendations. He has been working at Parkway since 1986, so he spoke with authority. Overall, the Parkway Grill has a very good product. However, I would like to see this place get a bit of a facelift. They opened in 1984, and the decor reflects that. Some minor changes would make a huge difference (the hanging lamps and the 'office club chairs'). But that's just my opinion. At the end of the day, the service and the food are what is important, and they excel at both. Also, there are no stupid hidden fess added to the bill. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I don't have much to say about it as it wasn't memorable. Service was slow and our server was MIA a few times. My ribeye was ok. I have to eat them cooked through and while the seasoning was good, but the texture was missing something. Sides were tasty (fingerling potatoes and broccoli). Up arriving we were seated in a nice secluded area of the restaurant and they had a nice welcome anniversary card waiting for us. I brought a bottle of wine with me and the server immediately bright over an ice bucket, opened the bottle and poured us a glass. We ordered an appetizer of the crabcakes, braised short ribs, and a side of lobster risotto. The crab cakes and braised short ribs were amazing. Some of the best I've tried. The lobster risotto on the other hand was bland and did not seem like a risotto. The manager checked in on us and we let him know about the risotto and he immediately removed the risotto and offered us something else.. for dessert we opted for the molten lava cake, which was paired with a vanilla ice cream, and it was delicious. Very Demure, Very Mindful little ole me had a cute little happy hour date (with myself) at Parkway grill. Arrived here around 6pm and came off the heels of a lovely afternoon in Pasadena. I had spend the afternoon at some other nice places like Nicks and Sorriso and wanted to continue the classy vibe so landed here for happy hour. I headed straight to the bar and had a great time. To drink, I had the french 75, super delicious, but it prompted me to get some food too. I opted for the lamb and they were very good. I spent about an hour enjoying my own company, talking to patrons at the bar and then headed out. This is the type of place to bring a date or a friend to impress. We had a horrible experience at this restaurant. The service was terrible and slow. Our food arrived 1 hour 30 mins after we ordered. The server wasn't very attentive and likely forgot to place our order. I complained to the manager, but she made an excuse that medium well steaks take 20 mins longer? Really?? I am not sure how she thought she could fool us but her behavior and lie just made me furious. Offered us dessert which i don't care for eating their boxed, frozen dessert they buy from some vendor. This restaurant used to be good. The quality of food has gone down tremendously and ridiculously overpriced. The $75 overpriced steaks we ordered was chewy, had no flavor assure you you can get better steaks at grocery store. My friend ordered fish which was less than 8 oz and guess what $62. This is nothing short of a major ripoff. The management and owner is greedy and should be ashamed. I will never dine here again. read more

Their cocktails are one of the reasons our friend chooses to keep coming back on his birthday. The food we ordered are pretty standard each time from crab cakes, lobster risotto to Tomahawk steak. This year we ordered a seafood tower and that was a disappointment. To be fair, they didn't have seafood tower on their menu just they said they would make one for us. The seafood tower was around $230 dollars and we were expecting a $230 worth of seafood. When it came, it was only a few oysters, prawns, tiny lobster tail and something else I can't recall anymore. It was just not up to par on our standard. Next time we would definitely ask first what does the seafood tower come with ! Overall, this is a great place to wine and dine. We have been going to the Parkway Grill for decades. We just resumed eating out again last year. We try and live below our means, so having a nice prepared meal is special to us. Last night the Parkway Grill feel short. First of all our server Lenz was horrible. It took him over 15 minutes to open our wine we brought. The worst part we had to wait and hour, that's right and hour for the main course. That was all we ordered. The restaurant wasn't even busy. We thought we would order the halibut special, for 64.00 dollars each plate, very underwhelming. The fish had no flavor, presentation not inspiring. read more
