This super popular restaurant in old town was mentioned by several people, so we got reservations and took a party of 4. The ambiance was great, lots of well dressed people pre-gaming at the bar or waiting for tables. They have a Beautiful wide opened dining space, very well decorated. I eat a ton of Mexican and usually favor authentic mom and pop places so I was concerned that this was going to be too bougie and not satisfy but it was excellent. Everything had very good flavors and we all agreed we'd like to come back.

Went with a group of girlfriends and we had a blast! If you are looking to go someplace and feel like you escaped to the tropics then go here! Felt like I was in Miami. Went on a Monday night and it was still hopping. Luckily, we didn't experience a wait to be seated as mentioned in other reviews. The atmosphere is loud music so if you are looking for quiet this isn't the place. But the high booths made our dinner somewhat secluded and we were able to carry on conversation amongst us. With a large cocktail list and menu there is plenty to get your own party started. We enjoyed Flaca's to drink. We started with yummy Queso Fundido and chips and then very much enjoyed the La Tablita. This was a platter full of the tasty makings of fajitas. We choose shrimp and skirt steak. Both were very good but the shrimp was out of this world amazing in tortillas. The large platter will surely wow when they bring it to the table. In addition to the two meat choices it came with: a side of arroz, refritos, guacamole, salsa fresca, jalapeños, green onions, warm tortillas, queso fresco. We were celebrating a birthday so we got two desserts and they added even more ice cream and presented all three on a platter. It was a fun presentation. Our waiter was the best. He didn't miss a beat! Overall a great night! Public Parking Structure located behind the restaurant. $10 flat rate on a weekday night.

I came here for an anniversary Love the ambiance The service was great! Very welcoming The food was great! We asked the waiter what their most recommended items were and he shared it was the short rib. Sauce was spicy, the meat was tender! And the steak, asparagus and mashed potatoes were a great price point. Tasty too. One thing I wouldn't get again though is the queso fundido- it gets cold quickly and clumps up Otherwise everything else from drinks to the dessert was great!

Beautiful restaurant with a great vibe! We had a reservation and it was extremely crowded, but they seated us once our entire party arrived. The drinks took quite a while, and although our server was friendly, we barely saw her throughout the night. Our appetizers came out and within minutes the entrees arrived right behind them, which made the whole meal feel very rushed. Staff kept trying to clear plates we were still eating from, and the table felt overcrowded and chaotic. Honestly, it turned into a bit of a cluster. We also had to flag down Viviana for the check and again to cash us out. One more thing to note -- they automatically add an 18% gratuity, which was frustrating given the service experience.

Javier's was okay -- not something I'd try again. Hats off for the help, but honestly, it wasn't as good as people say. Bye for now.

Javier's opening in Old Town Pasadena was definitely a big deal. This location has so many memories for me because we had many birthday celebrations and memorable meals here when it used to be Il Fornaio. So to see Javier's open here feels like a new Pasadena restaurant landmark. The decor is absolutely 10 out of 11. Beautiful, beautiful. I first came for lunch with a friend, and later came back for dinner. Lunch feels more casual and not too busy, good for a business casual lunch or just catching up with friends. Dinner is much busier and has more of a vibe. I don't drink alcohol, but everyone keeps saying the espresso martini is the hit, so if you're not like me, that's probably something to try. For me, my absolute favorite is honestly the chips. I don't think I've ever had tortilla chips so crunchy and perfect -- not too oily, not overly fried, just perfect. I could eat them all day. Javier's menu is known for elevated Mexican dishes, seafood, enchiladas, ceviche, guacamole, queso fundido, and handcrafted cocktails. But for me, the whole experience is really the ambiance, the energy, and the presentation. It's a beautiful place to dine in Pasadena.

We love it here! The atmosphere is amazing, the food is delicious and the staff are so on top of it! I love seeing how everyone works together and are constantly checking in to make sure your drinks are full and if you need anything else. We've come here multiple times since opening and will be coming again next weekend for my birthday. We love to celebrate here! It's definitely a special place for us where we get to celebrate with each other for birthdays, promotions, and everything in between!

This was Friday lunchtime, busy but we were seated right away. This place probably rocks in the evenings. Massive bar and lots of large tables for 8 or more people. Food: Fresh guacamole was not at all spicy just a bit pricey. The salsa was so fresh with " real " good tomatoes. Chips cooked just right although a bit salty today. Chicken in the enchiladas was moist and tender. Beers are all bottled from Mexico, no drafts. Lots of tequilas and cocktails to choose from. Ambiance: The indoor/outdoor dining area is super plush hip and comfy with massive palms and greenery and giant metal flower sculptures all around. Service excellence. Everyone seemed to be helping each other from ordering to delivery to clean up. Three different people working seamlessly.

Overall the ambiance is cool and I like the attention to detail with greenery inside. I dig the decor and the layout of the restaurant. Our server was great as well. But the food is subpar and definitely not worth the price imo. Chips and salsa, 5/10: Immediately left a bad impression, as some chips were excruciatingly salty and some were decently seasoned. The taste of the salsa seemed to vary per dish. One bowl was tangy, savory, and bright. The other bowl was salty, dull, and lackluster. They served multiple dishes of chips and salsa. It's clear consistency was lacking. Chorizo Enchiladas, 6.75/10: I ordered these thinking they would stuff the chorizo inside the enchiladas; maybe I should've asked. But the dish was very underwhelming since it was mainly tortilla, cheese, and sauce. It tasted pretty good for what it was. But, it was lacking the protein and depth that this place promises upfront on the menu description. Barely any chorizo was to be found. Not worth the hefty price tag. They charge extra for rice and beans since it doesn't come with the dish. Tablitas with asada, 7.5/10: A good portion for a small group. The asada is cooked medium, with a great sear on it. It could use a bit more seasoning. I like that it comes on the hot grill. The sides that accompany it are solid: rice, beans, guacamole, grilled veggies. Dish is filling and can be easily shared. Margarita, 6/10: First time seeing a house margarita served with no garnishes, no fruit, no lemon, nothing. It came cloudy and tasted bland. I will say they did not skimp on the tequila. Ceviche de pulpo, 8.5/10: Easily the best dish there. Octopus tastes fresh, not fishy at all. It has a nice chew and is cooked appropriately. The refreshing vegetables highlight the bright flavors of the octopus well. Minor detail is I'd prefer bigger chunks of octopus for a meatier bite. I appreciate what this restaurant is going for. But it misses the mark heavily for me.

I went to Javier's for the first time ever last week and I have to say.....the Pasadena location is a VIBE. The restaurant is stunning - think plush booths, fountains, greenery, and gorgeousness. The bathrooms are elite - there's an attendant (so make sure you tip!), tic tacs, gum, lotion, etc. The food was amazing. Like I said I've never been here before. We got the crab and shrimp enchiladas (SO meaty!) and the steak salad. Steak was unbelievable. We got fried ice cream for dessert but my friend has a peanut allergy, so we had to send it back. Settled on the flan after that, and it was also delicious! Only drawback and reason for 4 stars was the service. Yes, my party was just two people with no alcohol, but we were left looking for our server fairly often - especially when we wanted to pay and leave. Other than that - Incredible vibe. I loved it, and will be back!

Wow now let me tell you the new Javier's in Pasadena is absolutely breathtaking!! It blew me away. All of the details from the structure, the openness with all the windows & the very cool skyline greenhouse roofing in the middle of where we sat, all of the beautiful plants & greenery! This place is a whole vibe! All the staff were so pleasant & helpful along the way. Our server Kevin was great! He helped with all the recommendations & was always checking in on us! The other staff were also so on it with filling our waters without asking or having to wave anyone down to clearing off our empty plates so quickly! I got the piña margarita drink which was so refreshing & tasty! We went for a work lunch meeting so started off with the tuna ceviche as an appetizer, it was refreshing & light, perfect way to start. My boss got the chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce he said they were great! My coworker got the lobster enchiladas rice & beans with a shrimp taco & poblano stuff with crab & shrimp. Tried a bit of hers & it was fantastic! It was a bit of a chilly day so I wanted something warm so I got the birria & oh boy was that the right choice! So delicious and exceeded my expectations. Ask for the habanero salsa on the side if you're like me & like your food extra spicy! Haha Loved & will definitely be back to this location again!

This experience was completely different than my first visit. Our reservation was at 2pm and then seated us immediately. From there our waiter Tevin was the absolute sweetest nicest, most attentive waiter. I ordered seafood enchiladas and my friend ordered a chopped salad. We also ordered drinks. The salsa and warm chips were delicious our food was served quickly. It was pretty expensive for not that much food, but then again, it's Javier's so we expected it. The only downfall was that the valet was not out front to take our car, so finding parking close enough for me to walk with back issues took about 30 mins. They said the valet doesn't work for them directly so they sometimes don't show up. They need to get a real valet assigned. But other than that, our experience was great! Thank you Tevin for the great service.

When we walked in, there was a tall, bald male bartender and a blonde female bartender working--neither of whom I've seen here before. We ordered two drinks, but the service from the male bartender was inattentive from the start. At one point, my friend tried to get someone's attention to ask for a lime and wasn't acknowledged. She ended up grabbing a lime herself from the garnish tray--which I understand isn't ideal--but the response we got was completely out of line. The male bartender became immediately hostile and started aggressively cursing at my friend. When I calmly asked the female bartender if this was normal behavior, he inserted himself into the conversation and said, "she put her fucking hand in the fucking jar," in a very confrontational tone. I tried to de-escalate the situation and respectfully explained that there was no reason to speak to us that way, but he continued the hostility and ultimately told us to "get the fuck out." At that point, I paid for our drinks and we left. What made this especially disappointing is that this has never been our experience here before. We've always enjoyed this bar and have had positive interactions with the regular staff. If this had been my first visit, I would not come back. I understand that what my friend did wasn't appropriate, but it absolutely did not justify being yelled at and cursed out. I hope management addresses this, because this kind of behavior is not reflective of the bar I've come to know.

The atmosphere up there during golden hour is really nice, especially overlooking Pasadena with a drink and good food. Definitely feels upscale and stylish without trying too hard. Service was friendly and the overall vibe made it easy to relax and enjoy the evening. The only part of the experience that felt a little unusual was the payment process when charging the meal to my hotel room. I was asked to provide ID despite already being a registered guest at the property. I've been staying at Marriott hotels for well over a decade, including higher-end brands and resorts, and this was honestly the first time I've encountered that. I even asked about it and was told it was because sometimes people "forget they aren't guests at the hotel" when trying to charge meals to rooms. The staff member was polite, but the explanation honestly felt a bit odd and made the interaction feel slightly uncomfortable compared to what I'm used to at Marriott properties. That aside, I'd definitely come back. Great rooftop spot for dinner, drinks, sunset views, and a really solid date night atmosphere in Pasadena.

Being in a party of 4 girls coming from high tea, we were dressed in elegant dresses, first comment was asking if we were coming from church, followed by eye flutters, short "okay" with an upward inflation to a joke about the day, an impatient comment about hurrying up and trying the wine while we were talking, asked for water when we were out, were left to pour the rest of our wine, didn't ask how the food was all the while was attentive to the table behind us, the cherry on top comment was when we were discussing the bill at the end, he was hovering at the table behind ours, then when we were ready, we asked to split the bill into 2, my portion on mine and the rest on another card, he then said "this isn't like a drive through, we can't do it that way" so I asked him to explain his comment, cause it was passive agressive and rude. After he wasnt able to becuase he wasnt expecting me to call out his rude comment, I had to then break it down and specify what I had ordered, he then sold "okayyyy....so how much, cause we don't itemize?" I had to again express for him to specify how they do it cause he has still yet to explain where his attitude is coming from and explain how they do their check splits, from my understanding it just felt like he wanted to play dumb and make me to the math, one I did he was like "ohh, okay" should have asked for the manager but we paid and left, I hasnt had this experience before being a returning customer, but he needs an attitude adjustment as his attitude was completely out of pocket. You tell the server what you do and don't like or are looking for in your drinks and the bartenders will make them for you. Some might be already on the menu, some may not. If there is something you really don't like and you tell the servers, they will be kind enough to replace it for you with something you do. Overall they did a good job with making mine but didn't quite hit it for my friend. The omakase is at least 3 drinks, so be prepared to have transportation after, you may be a little drunk Overall would come back or bring other people here just for the unique experience, but it is pricier than just grabbing a cocktail at a normal bar.

Great ambience! Creative presentation of cocktails…read more A bit pricey- but I look forward to coming back with friends :)

The 35er is an Old Town Pasadena institution. This lively dive bar has been family owned and…read moreoperated since 1963. It's a popular place to watch sports and shoot some pool. There's also a cool little speakeasy in the basement. At the entrance you'll find a display case filled with Dodgers bobbleheads. They have an extensive beer list (about 20 on draft), specialty cocktails, and free freshly popped popcorn to snack on. The walls are lined with sports memorabilia and there's a juke box for entertainment between games. I had many fun nights here when I was younger. My friend and I were in the area and stopped in for a drink. Tony was behind the bar and he was an absolute doll. He's one of those friendly neighborhood bartenders that you would reveal your deepest secrets to. My friend had a beer and since it was Cinco de Mayo, I ordered a margarita with Tromba Tequila. It was tasty. My friend and I munched on popcorn while watching the Dodgers game. It was a relaxing evening and a reminder that I should visit the 35er again soon. *Adjacent parking garage (90 mins free) or metered street parking.

So if it's just one, service might be kinda slow if you're a big party, but he was crankin the drinks out pretty quick. I like how even though it's a sports bar, it was fairly clean. They also have their own cocktail menu which was pretty neat! There's free popcorn to grab at the back and a machine where you can select your own music to play in the speaker (for a small price). Cause the music here is kinda whatever, or at least random lol. There are pool tables in the back, which I saw was $2 per play. Overall, not bad. We also went on a Tuesday night so there were barely any people.
