Caipirinha

Ipanema has become an annual event for us, since we had drinks and appetizers last May and loved it. This visit, we sat at the bar so we could enjoy the bartender mixing up our delicious caipirinhas. It took us back to Rio, what a great memory! The avocado toast brought us back to CA flavors with a twist, a great fusion. The bar vibe is definitely LA, and a year later feels like a comfortable part of the neighborhood.

This rating is based on the food taste and prices. $40 for two enchiladas that have chile sauce that tastes like it came from a jar is wild. And thank you for the reheated cheese bread.

Casa Ipanema exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, Manager Reinaldo made the entire experience feel incredibly welcoming, personal, and memorable. His hospitality and attention to detail truly stood out and made the night extra special. We were celebrating Mira's birthday, and Reinaldo went above and beyond to make her feel celebrated -- from the thoughtful birthday dessert presentation to the extra dessert tastings that were such a sweet surprise. Those little touches made the evening unforgettable and showed how much care the team puts into their guests' experience. The ambiance is stunning -- elegant, cozy, and full of Brazilian charm. The food, drinks, desserts, music, and overall atmosphere were absolutely amazing. Every corner of the restaurant feels curated with warmth and sophistication. It's rare to find a place with this level of hospitality in Los Angeles. Casa Ipanema is not just a restaurant, it's an experience. Huge thank you to Reinaldo and the entire team (Ivan) for making Mira's birthday so special. We will definitely be back.

Drinks and ambience were good . Food was fresh . Management was great and DJ server kind of forgot about us at the end . But still great time

I think this restaurant is more about the ambiance and drinks than the food. The space is cute and fun, and the fire dancer added a cool entertainment element. The drinks were great, and the bartender was fast. We had a party of about 20 people and opted for the set menu. The first dish that came out--the salmon tostada--had very little salmon. On top of that, they brought out one plate with four pieces and expected six people to share it. When we asked about it, the waiter said it would be taken care of, but the second plate that came out was still short. After speaking to (I believe) a manager, they finally brought out more food. I didn't want them to overcompensate or waste food, just to provide reasonable portion sizes for the number of people at each table. After that, though, there was actually too much food, which I'm not complaining about. As for the rest of the meal: the steak and chicken tacos were dry, the steak especially. The corn was good but tasted slightly off. The fish with the green sauce wasn't great either, and the soup thing was just okay. Honestly, the food overall wasn't very good. The best items were the cheese balls and the salmon tostada. Service was good, and the vibe was lively and loud--probably great for a fun date night or group celebration. I'd come back for drinks and the atmosphere, but not for the food.

I celebrated a joint birthday with another friend here, and had such a solid meal we left with big smiles on our faces. The venue gives a Tulum vibe, and music was on point. We started with truffle fries, can never go wrong with that. Then we had the Kale Caesar salad, it was fresh and flavorful with enough parmesan and crunch. The picanha was a stand out dish, it was perfectly seared, and tons of flavor, and juicy. The street cord was smokey, creamy and packed with flavor. The moqueca de piece was comforting, nice balance of coconut and herbs. Overall it was a great place to celebrate our birthdays, thanks to the complimentary dessert. Highly recommend to celebrate a birthday here.

I decided to give this place another try when it was less crowded since my first visit was very busy. I ordered the truffle fries again, picanha steak, mashed potatoes, rio margarita, Posto Oito cocktail, and S'mores Cookie The complimentary bread is VERY good, they are so addicting, be careful not to fill yourself up with those! The Truffle fries were once again a solid choice, great flavor, good shareable size, and came out hot, I would again recommend to order this. The Picanha steak was very juicy and tender, keep in mind this cut is not a melt in your mouth steak, it is a bit more gamey; however, it was cooked exactly medium rare as I requested which is very hard to do and most places struggle with that. The Chimichurri sauce with the steak was delicious, and asked for more. The mashed potatoes was a good shareable size, it had a nice simple buttery flavor to it and a fluffy consistency. Both Cocktails I ordered were very very good, well worth the price. I feel the drinks are a reasonable price and compare to what most places around charge for a drink. The drinks have a nice presentation, and even better flavor, I would recommend any drink on the menu. The S'mores cookies was AMAZING, it was hot, and had that melt in your mouth, I would highly recommend to order this! Overall, I'm glad I gave this place another shot, the staff were friendly once again, and as I mentioned before, the ambiance is great for both groups or a date, it is very well decorated. I'm looking forward to trying their brunch!

Happened to be in the area and was walking past this place. I was intrigued when looking in the window to see a beautiful restaurant/ bar inside. We decided to go in and check it out, and wow we were so glad we did. Had a drink at the bar and 10 minutes later the fire dancer started, which was awesome. My drink was delicious, bar staff were very nice. We definitely will be coming back for brunch. The ambiance of this restaurant gives you a feeling like you are on vacation. Love it.

Came here for an event and was very pleasantly impressed; the interior is pretty and is both lounge-y and like a restaurant, and the service is great. Additionally, food and drinks are fab; the happy hour is long and has plenty of options. Plus, they're pretty affordable. Would definitely be back, oh! And they are great to work with if you're trying to plan an event. Cheapest parking for the evening is actually the self park at the Biltmore; they'll validate and you'll only pay $15. If you self park, head in and then turn left after the lobby; look for the sign on the left and head down the staircase. FYI, there's stairs and no elevators that head that way.

We were a party of two on New Year's Day, and this was one of the few restaurants open -- it was our first time here and we were really glad we stopped in. Very nice tropical decor, chilled crowd and wasn't that busy, but that's understandable since it was New Year's Day. We were seated right away, and our server was super nice and took great care of us. The food came out quickly and everything was absolutely delicious. It was a great way to start the New Year. We were very happy with our experience and will definitely be back.

We came here on a Thursday evening to celebrate my husband's 53rd birthday. We self parked in the Biltmore Hotel for $15 with validation. The venue is elegant and spacious. They do have a dress code, so read the fine print before you go. We were seated right away, but could not sit in the main part of the restaurant due to a function they were preparing for that night. Our service was a bit underwhelming compared to the reviews I read prior to coming here. Even though the main event had not started yet, everyone was preoccupied with the people who weren't there (preparing drinks, place settings, ...)). instead of focusing on the people who were already there. We also had a new waiter who was timid and needed to be prompted to reside his voice so that he was audible. Our food was just okay. We ordered the main dish (picanha)) and the pork chops. The steak was flavored well, but chewy. It had fat, which I like, but it was so hard it was inedible. As for the pork chop, it was on the drier side. Our drinks and Brussels sprouts (appetizer) were absolutely amazing!

Shandise S.

Amazing experience! The food was delicious. Their cheese bread was amazing. I could've eaten 20 of them! The in-house DJ made it feel as if you were in Miami or in Tulum ! The fire dancer was absolutely killer. She did such an amazing job at captivating and balancing her performance! The service was amazing. Servers were very friendly. We went there to celebrate my father's birthday and we will definitely be back! The reason for the four out of five is for parking and location in a sense. Location is fine however because there's not that much traffic it was really dead which was great for the intimate night we preferred but next time I would love to see it more poppin when I go.

Suki T.

We stumbled upon this spot after attending the magic show upstairs at the Biltmore. This place is a vibe! And the food is great too. I had the Picahna and the others in my group had the Pistachio Crusted Fish and everything was delicious. The service is great, and they have a DJ playing lively music in the background. They even have a fire dancer perform a short show at certain points throughout the night. This is a great place to celebrate a special occasion or just to have a nice, lively dinner. We'll be back!

I've been going to them more and more, and The Lucky Tiki was one I definitely had to try out. First off, I have to praise 1933 group because I have loved every single bar they have revitalized and this one is no different. In keeping with their MO, The Lucky Tiki is a speakeasy with a vintage vibe. I won't give away how to get in but let's just say, it's near the front of Highland Park Bowl. My husband and I didn't have a reservation, but we were able to put our name in and got seated about an hour or so later. I was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! It's just floor to ceiling decorated with everything tiki. So many fun details and even interactive elements that turn on when a particular drink was ordered. That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food. Was the perfect spot for a lively date night!

So after having a reservation for weeks, I get a text from this place saying someone booked a private event so my reservation is cancelled. How about instead of accepting $$$ for a private event that will deny customers their reservation, they make the private event work around what is available? Terrible way of doing business, but I hope they get lots of $$$ and engagement for the privileged private event attendees.

A group of my friends and I have come here three different times, really wanting to like this place because the atmosphere is beautiful and lively. Unfortunately, each visit has been consistently disappointing due to the same bartender--a shorter male with visible tattoos and facial hair, who seems to regularly work one side of the bar. On all three occasions, we experienced being ignored while trying to order, even as other guests who arrived after us were served first. The first time, we were eventually told "you guys can wait" in a rude tone of voice while he continued taking other orders. The second time, we were never helped at all and had to move to another part of the bar, where a female bartender provided much better service. The third visit was the most concerning. When we tried to get his attention, he responded in a dismissive and rude tone, and as he walked away, we overheard him make an inappropriate comment about us under his breath calling us out of our name and we felt very disrespected so much so that we just left. We completely understand that weekends can get busy, but consistently dismissive and disrespectful service--especially across multiple visits--is not acceptable and we've also seen him be rude to other guests as well. Aside from this issue, the venue itself is great, which is why we gave it multiple chances. I really hope management can address this, as it impacts the overall appearance and experience of the establishment. Thank you.

The interior never changes... dark... illuminated by candlelight... the bust of Shakespeare over the fireplace, the shelves of old books-- all of it remains intact. But this latest Library Bar seems to have finally dialed in what was always sorely missing in that it showcases a conscientious staff that all seem to know how to mix drinks while treating the customer well by leaving them be. On one night my date and I share a "Black Manhattan," basically a Manhattan with the generous addition of Averna, and it's terrific. On another night, I go for Happy Hour and a few pints of Guinness on draft that are surprisingly proper and go well with their excellent and, I'm told, homemade Hummus & Veggies Plate. The music at this current Library Bar is pretty much on point and is never so loud as to interfere with the conversations that patrons seem to come here for... something you should come here for too, and maybe at Happy Hour specifically if you're looking for a nice bump in your day and to spend an hour, well, happily.

It was quite a frustrating evening. Also, if you do decide to go here, just bring a coat when it's a little bit cooler in the evenings cause it does get cold up here and getting the staff to manage the heaters correctly is a whole other frustration. Oh, and valet is your only option for parking up here. It's kind of crazy because a few years ago you could just go park in the lot or the garage that's available there but now they're charging you $11 and it's chaos.
