We came here on a Sunday afternoon right when they opened. I definitely was NOT expecting the very loud club music on a Sunday afternoon! Friday & Saturday nights, sure, but a Sunday afternoon? No thank you. So, I can only recommend this place if you: 1. want to walk thru a sketchy alleyway parking lot to an unmarked back door of a building. 2. don't want to talk to other members of your party because the club music is so loud you can't hear your server. 3. want to spend a lot of money on drinks, about $20 per. 4. want very minimal food choices. 5. like to use the bathroom in the dark because there are no lights! Wow. We were here for seven days, and we wish we found out about this place sooner. We came here on the seventh day and it was absolutely phenomenal. They have a live Dj, a guy who does tastings, a huge TV, a stunning view of the city, unbelievable drinks, and food, and an amazing staff, and Photo Booth. You literally could not ask for a better place. Not to mention a vibrant vibe of seating. And a nice bar seating arrangement. Overall, this place was top-notch. 10 times better than perch, the Restaurant and I really hope that this becomes popular over the years it opened around a year ago. Love the music and the vibe here. It's never overly crowded, but it's also never so slow that it feels boring--there's always a good energy. That said, I feel like if they added one or two waiters, the bar would probably make a lot more money. I noticed several people trying to order drinks through the busser, and once they realized it was bar-ordering only, they didn't bother going up to get another round. The drinks are really good overall. The first time I went, though, they were extremely sweet and not strong at all--we didn't even finish them and ended up leaving. The second time was much better, but I ordered wine, so that may have made the difference. The bartender wasn't very friendly, but it was busy, so that could have been why. The spot was empty, but we were greeted by staff and instructed to seat where we wanted to. The view is lovely on a sunny day. This place was super cute. I really enjoyed the skyline views and the low key vibes. Just FYI you have to scour around DTLA for parking somewhere as you might expect because it's smack dab in the middle of a busy spot. Kind of hard to find but you have to walk through a parking lot to the entrance. Then you take a tall, slow elevator to the top. I'd say it's an older crowd like late 20s and 30s. Bathrooms are nice and clean. I didn't get to try anything there but the menu has quite a few drink options which is great. read more

Came here for a friends birthday and was pleasantly surprised. The lot directly in front of it entrance is pretty much the best spot to park. You enter from the ground level in the alleyway. The guard was very friendly and personable and that always sets the tone for the bar! Upon reaching the top floor, the elevator doors open directly into the bar. Apparently you can bring your dog until about 6pm, but I didn't bring her that day knowing I will be out for longer. All of their drinks are unique and delicious. Unfortunately the mango sticky rice milk punch was already sold out, because it is so popular. The carrot margarita tasted like actual carrot in the best possble way. I was also able to try some of their food which was actually good! I don't usually eat food at bars because that usually isn't what they are about but their margherita pizza actually hit. Wow!!! This venue is incredible with picturesque DTLA views. I came here for a CoreLab event and honestly the space took my breath away. Upon entering, you're greeted with a charming emerald green and gold bar and spacious balcony. The comfy seats and amount of room to move around really elevated the event. But to get here, it's somewhat hidden through the back street behind Broadway. There's two parking lots that are closest: the small one on Spring Street at the venue's elevator entrance or the large underground valet parking on Broadway and 6th Street. I went with the underground valet because it was the first that I found, charging $5 per 10 minutes and a max of $17 per day. The Spring Street one was $12 max and is the only entryway to access the small alleyway before heading to the elevator. I liked how they had a security guard by the alleyway to help direct folks up to the eighth floor. The building itself is pretty clean and once you're up on the rooftop, the views of the Jewelry District are incredible. As for the cocktail menu, they have a fun variety to choose from. read more

Rooftop bars are a thing---- not like Iphones are a thing, but they are totally a staple in party and cultural spaces for they provide space and view that enhance a night to new heights, pun intended. I ended up at this bar with some people I was getting to know, and the bar was definitely a character of the night because it only provided background to the gathering but it also played host, character, function, and perspective which conspired to make the night great and popping. I went to this bar on a foggy night. When the night shrouded the famous buildings of LA's downtown, the result was a visual spectacle that bordered on the noir and mystical--- in a phrase it was sophisticated spook, like a dress made of the finest webs of spiders working for Morticia. There is a building with a red light pattern across its top edges, with same patterns above the green lights. It was obvious that the colors were an ode to Christmas, but the fog and chill of the night were an ode to the mystique of a dark witches presence. It was not exactly material fit for a Night Before Christmas, the moment was not cartoonish, it was more, like I allude to above, chilling in a beautiful way-- like a kiss from a vampire that promised safety in his bite. Florentin is found by walking into an alley and then into a building that feels like you are walking into your warehouse shift. Seriously, you enter an LA building that does not have charm or style, it has the feel of a workplace- barren in white. Then one enters as service elevator, with the mark of Florentin--- a flower in neon green. Except that the glow of the neon was completely muted in the elevator door. Then one goes inside and arrives at the rooftop and discovers that rooftop is not part of a hoax, it is a destination that required traveled through the mundane to arrive to! When we got there, the party crowd was still light, makes sense the sun was still kind of out, but not really, we arrived when the sky was light gray. In one of the pictures, from early in the evening, I captured the gray sky through a window, an exit sign refracted through out the pane, and twinkle lights that seem to exist out of the pane, within the pane, and behind the pane, like the lights were hanging above the streets of LA. The lights were within Florentine, but the sparkling result existed everywhere, at once. It was the moment where magic became ordinary because of how light reflects of a shiny surface. And for those who are wondering, I was giving a prickly pear margarita (which was fantastic) and I sipped it. So my evaluation of the lights was not seen by margarita goggles. The group of people I was with also ordered food. I did not try everything that was order but I know for sure I had pita bread and hummus, with something crunchy on the side. This specific snack plate was a great munch-munch especially with cocktails all around. I would go back here knowing I would drinks and snacks that are both worthy of being called taste and engaging to picky eater. The space is huge. We were on the side, near to the bathrooms in this funky couch that had a giant cushion that divided the seats as if a snake was laid in the couch. Meaning that the long stretching cushion was a slither shape, so one person sat in one side of the flat S while another person sat in the next. I had to turn and put my elbow on the cushion to speak to a person right next to me. I took a video to show the shape of the cushion. One can sit in the roof top side of the joint.It is the 8th floor, so one will see buildings close but will have too look up to them. It is from this spot that I captured a picture of a bright and fully active tiki steel heater. The red of its flame let me wondering if it was a true flame or one manufactured by gas and not coal. Beyond the standing torch heater, one see's the One Wilshire building with another building in the background whose tip was lighted in green, a wonderful nod to a Christmas tree. In the same picture, one sees a round shaped building all in white. I am not sure if it was lighted in a Christmas way, but it gave solemn star energy. And again it was made more chillingly beautiful by the fog covering its glow, like a braided veil covering the light of a new bride's eyes. And, right in front me, were chairs and plants. On summer nights this place would become a tropical escape. But for now Florentine became a space to admire LA buildings, sip sweet cocktails, and know that Christmas can exist outside a gift box, or a lane covered in reindeers, and can give space to beauty that chills, and air that does the same ! In general, I can see how this party spot can light up on a Friday night at the party hour. When I went, it was a time to observe the space from afar and from up close, and savor its offering. I think I accomplish all of that---- which means that I experienced a roof top bar before it tilted into full party swing! read more

This is the newest rooftop gem in LA! I was dinning about a block away and needed to find a nearby rooftop bar and coincidentally Florentin was the closest one. So lucky!! It's a little hidden but you still can't miss it. We came in on a Saturday at around 8 PM and there were a few people but it does fill up closer to the end of the night. There is an indoor section and an outdoor section. Stunning rooftop views, maybe plan to catch a sunset sometime! The drink menu has to be my favorite- they have something for everyone and plenty of options if you like a fruity cocktail. I haven't been obsessed with a cocktail in a minute. Think like Death & Co. menu but the prices are actually reasonable. Service was great and the bartenders are pretty friendly. Great atmosphere all around. Had seen singing about this new rooftop venue, and had some time, so we went by to check it out. Now, getting there is interesting. Basically you walk through a parking area, and straight ahead, on a wall, crossing an alley, is a green kit up sign. Enter here (there is security at the door) and then you'll head up to the rooftop to enter Florentine. Waking inside, the venue isn't huge, and it's is self seating, with constant chairs and semi couches. You order food and drinks at the bar, so don't wait for anyone to come to you. We started with cocktails, grabbing the passion fruit paper plane and the mango sticky rice milk punch. The paper plane comes out looking like a liquid orange vanilla drink, but it's very nuanced in it's flavor profile. It could have been a little more passion fruit forward, having it at the beginning of the drink name, but it was well balanced and you tasted the different notes involved in the drink. The mango rice milk punch was the real shocker, looking nothing like you might expect and tasting even better then you might expect. This was a truly artisanal cocktail and whoever thought it up, please take your flowers. Fabulous drink! We also grabbed a margarite pizza as you have to also try the food. It wasn't the best pizza I've ever had, with the crust being more on the chewy end of the spectrum, but the ingredients were good quality and it is a decent size for a bar/lounge pizza. Ideal, drinks were excellent, service was great, people were friendly and the pizza was decent. We got a reserved table for our friend's bday tonight, our server Devon did what she could however when she was out of service she did not communicate that with the rest of the party. Our friend asked the bouncer who said to order at the bar. When I joined a friend at the bar to the right side, I received a hard time by a bartender with a cap on and a mustache who did not want to take my order nor accepted my full order. I feel like we didn't deserve the treatment and the service from that bartender and when we returned with the woman bartender and the bar back with the pony tail, the service was awesome. Please consider re-training that bartender to the right with less hair, a cap on, and a stache - he could be better with people and surely shouldn't work at a bar with this attitude. Hi, I don't usually leave reviews, but after three separate visits, I felt it was necessary to share my experience. A group of my friends and I have come here three different times, really wanting to like this place because the atmosphere is beautiful and lively. Unfortunately, each visit has been consistently disappointing due to the same bartender--a shorter male with visible tattoos and facial hair, who seems to regularly work one side of the bar. On all three occasions, we experienced being ignored while trying to order, even as other guests who arrived after us were served first. The first time, we were eventually told "you guys can wait" in a rude tone of voice while he continued taking other orders. The second time, we were never helped at all and had to move to another part of the bar, where a female bartender provided much better service. The third visit was the most concerning. When we tried to get his attention, he responded in a dismissive and rude tone, and as he walked away, we overheard him make an inappropriate comment about us under his breath calling us out of our name and we felt very disrespected so much so that we just left. We completely understand that weekends can get busy, but consistently dismissive and disrespectful service--especially across multiple visits--is not acceptable and we've also seen him be rude to other guests as well. Aside from this issue, the venue itself is great, which is why we gave it multiple chances. We come here to enjoy drinks anyways so all good haha. The bartenders kept my drinks full and knew how to keep a conversation going among their busyness of moving around the bar. Loved that! It was still daylight/evening hours so not crazy busy at the time until later on at night when the crowd started rolling in. My girl got the prickly pear hibiscus margarita, which she said was good, but a bit too sweet. I had the spicy yuzu mezcal, which had a nice ratio of spice and tartness to it. Can you give more than 5 stars? If so I would! Monica took great care of us and even loaned a jacket. We had the charcuterie board, Greek salad and the prosciutto and egg pizza. Oh man, it was good. Great rooftop vibe and fun servers made it a night to remember. It is hard to get there, but that's half the fun. The guys in the alley are great. All I had was cucumber water so the review is for the vibes. Music was outrageously loud but the space was very cute (photo booth) and had nice rooftop views of the city. It's tucked in a questionable alley and the elevator ride seemed like the start of a horror movie, but that adds to the aesthetic. read more
