This is one of my favorite spots to meet up with friends for a casual get together when in the Downtown LA area! It's conveniently located to the LA Convention Center, Crytpo.com arena, and LA Live which makes it a must visit before or after an event! I am obsessed with their happy hour, which offers healthy items at discounted prices with generous portions! I have been here so many times throughout the years but most recently found myself here during a busy World Cup match! Regardless, the service and quality of food was not sacrificed! I was greeted as soon as I got there and the bartenders were overwhelmed but still friendly and helpful. I was so tempted to get a margarita, since theirs are amazing, but decided to keep it dry and just get their vegan nachos. I was able to score a table outside on their lovely patio, which felt secluded enough from the main street. My food was brought out quicker than I thought and I was delighted, as I was famished! The vegan nachos here are fantastic and the happy price is only $10, which is a steal for what you get! They are costed in the most magical concoction of a bean puree, cashew cheese sauce, and guacamole which all have the most creamy, luscious and savory flavors. It's so hearty and well seasoned and not only filling, but you feel great after. Parking is pretty easy, as there are usually ample meters available nearby. I cannot wait to return again soon the next time I'm in Downtown LA! I am hoping to try more of their vegan options and next time I will for sure get a drink to go along with their delicious food! read more

Prank has a fun atmosphere and a great location in DTLA, but my experience was a bit mixed. The cocktails didn't quite live up to expectations. I ordered the Espresso Martini, and it tasted pretty watered down and lacked the bold coffee flavor I was hoping for. On the bright side, the food was definitely the highlight. The mussels were flavorful, the calamari was crispy and cooked well, and the fries were delicious. Those dishes really saved the experience . We made it in time for their happy hour, which they call Golden Hour (Mon-Fri 4-8pm, Sat & Sun 3-6pm as of this writing), which had a nice variety of food and drinks offered at a discount. It's still not cheap, but it's nice to get some kind of a break. You order at the bar and they bring the food out to you. The hubby and I ordered: - Grilled Shrimp tacos - Vegan Nachos - Veg sliders - Old fashioned - Smoked old fashioned Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The ambience felt a little more sophisticated than the average sports pub, but it was still lively. The staff were friendly and efficient--a nice experience overall. This is one of the coolest spot in DTLA in my opinion. Here's why... there is an easy feel to the atmosphere as soon as you walk up to the entrance. The open patio, the bar area and how it wraps around the corner where there is a smaller intimate section. The music was awesome, the bartender has a great pour and the people seemed to be really having a great time. As I look around I see there is an open upstairs area that looks down onto the first level. So cool right? I had a conversation with two regulars and they swear by the menu. We stopped by Prank before our Kings games for some food and drinks. This place is pretty soild. The food was good and drinks were fantastic. We arrived right when it open, during golden hour ( HH). Their beers and shot combo was $12. You can pick any beer on tap and any standard shot. As for food we ordered the following: Boneless Chicken Tenders- This was great and not dry. Good size portion as well. Beef Sliders- This was also soild. Home Made Meatballs- Soild and tasty. Prince Edward Island Mussels- This was disappointing. Prank Bar has a good location if you're heading to a concert at Crypto Arena. The patio is nice, and the vibe is casual. They promote having two walk-up stations at either end of the bar, but it didn't really work well. We waited at one while someone tried to order food by showing photos on their phone, which took a while. Moved to the other station thinking it was open, but the bartender was behind on orders and the other guests were just sitting at patio tables waiting. It felt disorganized. I ordered an Old Fashioned. It came with an orange slice but no cherry, and the flavor was off. Pretty sure it wasn't made correctly. Only had the one drink, and that was enough. The concept might be playful, but it felt like the prank was on the customer. Service wasn't rude, just scattered. Was driving home the other day and wanted to get something to eat, and came by Prank so decided to check it out. Has that sport bar/restaurant/local hangout vibe. First, the music was great, from 90s to more current hip hop, can't go wrong with that. For food, we tried multiple items. The meatballs were moist on the inside and had good flavor to them. The mussels are in a white wine garlic marinara sauce but didn't necessarily stand out in any one way. The filet mignon tacos were good on a blue corn tortilla with pico de gallo and avocado. We split the short rib entree which can't with garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed kale. The kale needed to be seasoned a little better but the short rib was nice and tender. Flavor wise, it was ok, didn't necessarily stand out either. Overall, cool place, good vibes, friendly staff and the people there were also friendly and talkative. Had brunch here & it was so awkward because the menu from their QR code only has 1 type of waffle on it, the Belgian waffle with cream & fruit. So when ordering I ordered the waffle, what came out was a plain hard ass waffle with nothing other than maple syrup. The waffle had no flavor whatsoever. I wish they had waiters as it's often difficult to order at the bar and there's very limited seating which is hard to keep when you have to get up to order. Service is slow which is why we didn't love it as much and prices are a bit higher, but what we liked, we really liked. Their location is off of the chaotic streets within eyeshot of the arena but in a quiet nook so you can avoid the chaos before an event. Note that there is no table service so make sure to tag team it with your friend(s) to order at the bar and keep your seats safe. The staff was super friendly and attentive when needed. My friend is vegan so we order all plant based bites. The fries were great, the popular spicy cauliflower had great flavor but they could have gone lighter on the sauce so the dish stayed crispier...towards the end the cauliflower was quite soggy and one note. The Taco Duo is just as good with filet mignon steak (gf) - pico de gallo, avocado, cilantro, chimichurri or tempura shrimp - chipotle cream, mustard slaw, avocado, and grilled pineapple salsa vegan (v/gf) - avocado mash, zucchini, heirloom cherry tomatoes, with shaved red onion. Great bar located walking distance to Crypto.con arena. This has become the pregame tradition spot for any sporting eventheld at crypto.com. Depending on what night you go, it could be packed, or there could be plenty of seeding outdoor. The beer prices are reasonable. And the food is not bad, but we usually stick to the appetizers or bar food. Nachos, burgers, fries. The service here is great. Everyone's very nice. They can turn around a check really quick if you need to jet so you don't miss the tip off. I'd say the one drawback is that on any given night they likely have two employees working and they are both behind the bar. You have to Purchase drinks and food from the bar and sit yourself outside. If it's a pack night, it might take a while to get a bartenders attention, but because of the open outdoor area, you can see inside determine how long the wait might be as you're walking by and choose a different spot around! Not sure how but we always end up in Prank. Came here around 12 on a Saturday afternoon and were able to find seats for 6. They have a cool drink special where you get a shot and beer called the Truffle Shuffle for $12. You can find street parking if you're lucky but there's a parking structure across the street for $10. The vibes are chill and you can sit outdoors. It was self seating and you order at the bar. The bartender was super friendly. Only giving this spot 3 stars cause the food was too bland for my liking.
