Frozen strawberry margarita with salt
Bee W.

Had a drink before dinner. Even though they didn't have a blender they made the frozen strawberry margarita somehow. My friend ordered it for me before I arrived. Really good still. Cool bar decor with lush plants and books to complement the bottles of alcohol. Bartender was sweet and gracious.

I popped in for afternoon cocktails in this great little bar. Located inside the Hotel Figueroa, it's comfortable with interesting Spanish renaissance decor. The bartender was courteous, attentive, and quick. The espresso martini was excellent. 20% tip plus a 4% "Benefits Surcharge" automatically added to the bill. Perhaps it's different at night before a Lakers game, but I highly recommend it on a quiet afternoon.

Even though it's been almost a decade, I do love the 'new' remodel. The lobby has such great Fung Shui and the curated art is off the charts and compliments the powerfully high ceilings. This is a solid place to journal, enjoy coffee and the best breakfast Burrito. If coffee is your thing, this is great at Hotel Fig and the very kind and fun Jorge will make you feel like you are truly at home as he has worked in DTLA since the 1980s and he is perfect in his position and happy to see him again and again. As a local, we appreciate the safety that Thi hotel fig provides and that its a protected oasis from the always-edgy DTLA streets. Thank you hotel Fig! You're one of my faves in town!

Decent! Nothing to write home about but gets the job done. Located inside of Hotel Figueroa. Service was quick. Vibey ambiance.

First time here and I plan on going back very soon ! Everything I had was delicious and made to my specifications. Service was fast and friendly - server was aware we were on our way to a Lakers game and expedited everything- Bravo ! They just need Worcestershire or A1 for the steaks

Didn't have the best experience here. I enjoyed a couple drinks before checking in for my stay. The atmosphere was great, such a beautiful space. The host was great and seated me right away, but it did take quite awhile for a server to come by. When they did I ordered a drink from their menu and he told me they were out of an ingredient. It was a short response, not giving me any alternatives. By the time I finished my drink, it took 10-15 minutes for someone to come by to see if I needed anything. I asked to order food before the kitchen closed but they also didn't have what I was asking for from the menu. Ordered another drink and went on my way. Server also didn't disclose that the tip was already included. Good thing I checked the third receipt on the bottom or I would not have known.

Lovely looking bar, which is why we came here as we were looking for drinks in a nice setting. Parking is easy, there's valet just to the left of the hotel. Service was great, we also ordered some appetizers, the charcuterie board, French fries and I think the hummus (although it's called something else). This definitely could be a nice date night.

Between the Sheets: Cognac, Rum, Orange Liquor, & lemon juice. Divine!

My friend was staying at Hotel Figueroa, and we came here for drinks. This European inspired lounge is open & spacious. The ambience is cozy & inviting with plenty of plush couches to relax on. We sat at the bar where a genuinely nice bartender greeted us. Glancing over the cocktail menu I noticed a forgotten classic - Between the Sheets. I've only seen it served at Commander's Place in New Orleans. The drink originated in Paris in the 1920's and was made famous in the 1930's at Harry's New York Bar. Comprised of Cognac (D'Usse) Rum (Bacardi), Orange Liquor, & lemon juice - it's a derivative of the Sidecar. It was absolutely divine!

Love this place. I treated myself to the Lakers vs. Mavs game last night and stopped in for a bite to eat before tip off. Bar Magnolia is located inside the beautiful Hotel Figueroa - the vibe is a lot more upscale and corporate now. I used to come here when it was the Veranda Bar - it was a little seedy back then but SO MUCH FUN - it was when people actually had conversations instead of burying their noses in their laptops and phones. I was lucky enough to get a seat on a comfy couch in front of the fireplace. The bar area is big, cozy and beautiful with lots of seating. The food and the service is good. The staff is very friendly and make sure you're well taken care of. It's an easy walk from the 7th Street Metro Station (a little bit of a walk from the Pico Metro Station) and a nice place to meet up with friends before an event at the Staples Center (I know it's the Crypto whatever its called now but it will always be the Staples Center in my heart). Hotel Figueroa has been around since 1926 and it was one of the very first hotels to allow women to check in without male chaperones - can you imagine? Hotel Figueroa has been completely remodeled but it still has the Arabian/Moroccan/Spanish Colonial décor/vibe that make a unique and special place. I will always have great memories of Hotel Figueroa - it used to be the spot to go to after a Lakers game when Kobe and Shaq ruled LA. If you want a nice place to grab a bite to eat/cocktail before an event, definitely come here - the food is good and the restaurant (Café Fig) is as beautiful as the hotel.

My gf and I went to Hotel Figueroa to checkout HH at Bar Magnolia. We were able to sit at any table by the bar. Waitress was extremely friendly. For drinks, we got the Delilah and the Eden. Both of which were refreshing and fruity. It didn't taste extremely alcoholic but we left with a good buzz. For food, we ordered the sliders and truffle fries. They weren't anything special, but can't complain due to the amount and price. Overall, we had a good time. If I really had to complain, it's that the sofa/loungers were kinda scratchy and had stains. It just didn't look clean.

Excellent hotel bar serving craft cocktails in a comfortable environment. Service is excellent. Very casual if you want to have good drinks and conversations with friends unlike the loud and dark bars that take an arm and a leg to get into. The Harper is an excellent refreshing drink with a mezcal base. The Chloe is great if you're into whiskey sours. Plenty of seating with clinches all around as well as a bar.

5* Ambiance 5* Service…read more5* Coctails Level 8 really has done a fantastic job creating a jazz/entertainment bar with great service, drinks, and unpretentious service. The guests, come and go and at each moment, in any corner, be ready to be surprised and entertained by a live DJ, acrobat, burlesque performer, pianist and singer. What a show! Veronica at the bar was fantastic and made us drinks just to our order. Supper knowledgable, helpful and kind. Definitely, this place is a great hangout after a meal... be prepared to be be dazzled and entertained.

Gonna try to paint the picture in as few words as possible. Sorry for the long narrative:…read more 1) I planned out a special night for my wife throughout all of Level 8 2) Had reservations set at Lucky Mizu for Dinner to Mr. Wanderlust for Cocktails and Entertainment and then to Sinners and Santos for Drinking and Dancing for Latin Night 3) Showed up for our 6:45 PM reservation at Lucky Mizu but was turned away 3 times stating they didn't have seats available. After being seated 40 minutes later, service took 20 minutes to take our order, and another 30 minutes to be served. Food was 'okay', there was no entertainment, and multiple customers were unhappy with similar slow service... but some of them were comped parts of their meals.. we didn't even get a sorry until we spoke to the manager on our way out, expressing the reason was they had no idea it would be this busy on a Thursday (they take reservations, so...), and also blamed an 'all you can eat promotion' they promoted earlier, and they only had two serves on staff that night. 4) We were late to Mr. Wanderlust, but were luck to get two seats at the bar after another couple left. We order two cocktails and a coffee... and were charged just over $140. Then, we were asked to move because they wanted to take our seats. We asked about the bill to the bartendar, and she expressed that since she didn't take our original order, she couldn't help us. She simply just had us stand there. We were not going to pay since it seemed way off... until finally we spoke to a guy walking by. We showed him our ticket/receipt and said out loud, "this isn't right". He came back quickly with a revised bill of almost $120. This was still far too high, but no one else seemed interested in helping us find resolve, so we ate it since we didn't want to be late for part 3 of the night. 5) Hoping to salvage the night with drinks and dancing... we tried to find the entrance to Sinners and Santos for their advertised Latin night. We had made reservations here too, and had full confirmation of the reservation... BUT, after finally being directed to the entrance (outside on the patio), they were closed. No sign of why and no one who worked at the other locations had a reason, but they were just simply closed. 6) So, after paying $35 for parking, about $140 in cocktails and food while waiting for our initial reservation at Golden Hour and Que Barbaro, $150+ for dinner at Lucky Mizu, and $120 at Mr. Wanderlust... approximately $500 total... we didn't even get to dance. Maybe this place had a bad night, but based on what the workers said, and how they treated us... it sure seems like the norm. Don't get me wrong, the place is cool... some really great experiential elements and nice photo ops... but I would have had a much better time somewhere else. Super disappointed in this place.

We were able to get a seat on the coach and order drinks from the bar relatively quickly. Prices were pretty typical of LA ($18-25 a cocktail) but I would say I probably won't come back this late as it's in a shadier part of town. They have a bouncer and it was fine inside, but it's not a place where you can bar hop if that's what you're looking for as the area is seedy. Would be interested to try the food next time, but again, the safety and comfort of the light of day.

NOVEMBER 26.2025…read more I've been through many iterations of The Library Bar over the years... from small and cozy secret bar for those that work in the looming skyscrapers of Downtown LA to being some noisy urban hip hop affair that served godawful drinks (see my past review!), and on back to being a calm and casual neighborhood bar again. The interior never changes... dark... illuminated by candlelight... the bust of Shakespeare over the fireplace, the shelves of old books-- all of it remains intact. But this latest Library Bar seems to have finally dialed in what was always sorely missing in that it showcases a conscientious staff that all seem to know how to mix drinks while treating the customer well by leaving them be. On one night my date and I share a "Black Manhattan," basically a Manhattan with the generous addition of Averna, and it's terrific. On another night, I go for Happy Hour and a few pints of Guinness on draft that are surprisingly proper and go well with their excellent and, I'm told, homemade Hummus & Veggies Plate. The music at this current Library Bar is pretty much on point and is never so loud as to interfere with the conversations that patrons seem to come here for... something you should come here for too, and maybe at Happy Hour specifically if you're looking for a nice bump in your day and to spend an hour, well, happily.

I finally was able to check it off, thanks to a hotel offer with a dining credit. Dahlia is the gorgeous petite space behind the larger ground floor restaurant space now called Cabrillo (formerly Caldo Verde). Dahlia opened as a bespoke cocktail lounge, then began to offer tea. Now it's just tea. There are five 2-tops and two 4-top tables. All food and beverage venues at the Proper used to be under the auspices of famed chef Suzanne Goin and her business partner/sommelier Caroline Styne. They are no longer affiliated with the Proper, but many of their dishes/contributions remain. The last named vestige of them is on the tea menu, "Suzanne's Deviled-Egg Sandwich". The tea menu has several options: Classic, with a seasonal mocktail, or with different champagnes. I opted for the Classic experience, because the mocktail had mocha, not my fave. Server Lluvia was clearly a Dahlia veteran; she offered a tea-smelling of all the teas that interested me as well as crowd favourites. I ultimately chose one of these faves, Mad Hatter's Tea Party, which had passionfruit and vanilla. I declined milk/cream, but did get lemon. There were rock sugar sticks on the table. It seems the selection of tea sandwiches and sweet treats changes every so often, although the vanilla bean scone, dried currant scone, Devonshire cream and apricot orange jam seem like constants. The sandwich selection at my visit were: cucumber, crab/creme fraiche, beet hummus on pita, smoked salmon and Suzanne's deviled egg. All were delish, the beet, crab and deviled egg especially. The sweet treats were: orange fig butter cookie, spiced apple brown butter crumble, cranberry frangipane hand pie, chocolate mocha macaron, pumpkin madeleine, plus the 2 scones. All were excellent. There were no leftovers. A bit pricey, but a relaxing and lovely experience. The room was not crowded when I visited, adding to the calmness of my visit.

It was clear there wasn't enough product left for two consistent drinks. The bartender, Bryan, prepared both cocktails without using a jigger. When I politely asked why one drink appeared noticeably lighter than the other and why he wasn't measuring the pour, he smirked, gave a slight laugh, and responded that he "knows the exact measurement of his glasses." The tone and gesture felt dismissive and mocking rather than professional. Instead of addressing a reasonable concern with transparency, the response came across as defensive and condescending. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added, bringing the total to $71.12 for two inconsistent Old Fashioneds. A group of my friends and I have come here three different times, really wanting to like this place because the atmosphere is beautiful and lively. Unfortunately, each visit has been consistently disappointing due to the same bartender--a shorter male with visible tattoos and facial hair, who seems to regularly work one side of the bar. On all three occasions, we experienced being ignored while trying to order, even as other guests who arrived after us were served first. The first time, we were eventually told "you guys can wait" in a rude tone of voice while he continued taking other orders. The second time, we were never helped at all and had to move to another part of the bar, where a female bartender provided much better service. The third visit was the most concerning. When we tried to get his attention, he responded in a dismissive and rude tone, and as he walked away, we overheard him make an inappropriate comment about us under his breath calling us out of our name and we felt very disrespected so much so that we just left. We completely understand that weekends can get busy, but consistently dismissive and disrespectful service--especially across multiple visits--is not acceptable and we've also seen him be rude to other guests as well. Aside from this issue, the venue itself is great, which is why we gave it multiple chances. I really hope management can address this, as it impacts the overall appearance and experience of the establishment. Thank you.
