If you're a hookah lover this is absolutely the spot to try - the hookah here is very good! This spot sits on a fairly quiet street and it's a little hard to spot it from the outside but you can definitely see the red colors if you look. You can either park on the street that's metered or in a parking lot in the back / right side ($15 public parking). It's a "members" only lounge with kind of a hip feel to it, however if you're not they just charge a $3 fee...it is Ukrainian owner and the regular hookah they have is $35 and I recommend that over the others because it's still a great fix, others are just over the top... It's fairly quiet inside and everyone is just kind of to themselves with their group which is great, the hookah comes out within 15 minutes and the server fixes it up before he brings it...so when you receive it, it's blowing crazy clouds already and is STRONG!!! Overall - this is a great spot to smoke whether you come alone or with a group, but since it's strong it is definitely for an avid hookah smoker and not a "novice". But I do love coming here!!

Got some biscoff cookies & ferreo rochers. They had nice music and a projector with cool nature visuals. I do wish the loop was a bit longer cause it's really nice to look at. The hookah lasted us an hour and was still not harsh when we had to leave. They do have an upstairs with PlayStation5s. It wasn't very busy so we stayed downstairs.

High Desert Lounge is absolutely one for the books! It's not only by far the most aesthetically appealing hookah lounge that I have had the opportunity to visit but paired with the most attentive and welcoming staff that make you feel comfortable within minutes of entering. I was greeted immediately by the manager Dima, who introduced himself to us and offered us their most exclusive tea options which were truly an excellent beverage experience that complemented the flavors of our hookah experience perfectly. They are open quite late but without the typical low quality crowd found at most late night venues. They have live music playing on weekends and a DJ that transports you into another dimension with the incredible beats as you smoke and relax with your friends! The place altogether is surreal to say the least and I can't express it enough with just my review you must go and visit for yourself! My server Roma was super helpful and attentive to my needs throughout my entire visit- frequently checking on the overall satisfaction of the hookah and flavors we chose, and we never had to ask for replacement of charcoals. The teas are not generic, they are truly pleasant to the palate and make for an enjoyable experience with the vast variety of hookah flavors that were available to choose from. I am a new regular here and my go-to favorite flavor is Sour Pineapple by the brand Russian tobacco brand "Must Have" - an absolute delight! I also crave the Pink Man flavor regularly after first trying it here at High Desert. The flavor options are literally endless and their tobacco is premium quality meaning you will never be disappointed in the taste. Overall..... I give this place an absolute 10/10 There is truly no other lounge in Los Angeles like it. Bring your friends and GO!!!

Amazing Experience from first step in the door your immediately blown away by the lounge set up from the elegant sectional set ups to the screen above displaying the open desert view. If that does not blow you away the attention to detail by the staff to create a hookah experience like no other. The flavors blending so smoothly and the production of clouds that come from the top tier qualify hookahs that they have at hand. Overall 10/10 .

It's a great hookah spot to come in and relax . I came across it while looking for a hookah spot in Downtown . Only thing we didn't know before coming was that you can only smoke hookah with an invitation by a member or if you're a member . If you're not a member they charge you an additional $15 fee . A great way to escape for a few hours and feel like you're somewhere completely different. Great tea, amazing hookah flavors, exceptional staff! Things to know: - There is a non-membership fee when you enter but it's less than $5/person - Members are allowed upstairs where there's a game area - The downstairs lounge was perfect enough for my visit, there are a bunch of lounge seating areas for groups of 1-8 I think Hookah Type: - They have different types of hookah and some are even shipped from Ukraine. They have beautiful designs on them and you can tell they properly handle and clean their stuff - They provide so many different types of sishas and they are happy to curate/mix something for you as well, I just told them I liked fruity & minty - I added an extra pineapple fruit on top and I loved it so much. I've never had anything like it, as the hookah was burning, it started to caramelize the pineapple leaving a sweet delicious after taste - There are so many variety of teas and they give you an individual tea pot, they refill the pot for you but as any tea goes, the more you fill it the less the flavor comes out The Vibe: - There was a DJ out that played amazing music, it was so chill and you can tell everyone was there for different purposes (some people were working, some were just hanging out, some people were pregaming, etc) Overall, the staff was so knowledgeable and nice. They set us up so quickly, they checked in on us as needed, our teas were constantly flowing, and the hookah was amazing. read more

High Desert is absolutely topnotch and my favorite hookah lounge in LA. The Hookahs are the best I've tried and the vibes are immaculate. The decor is very classy and modern, it makes you feel like you are on a vacation with a great music. Everyone there is very friendly and welcoming and they always make sure the Hookah is perfect. Not only the Hookahs but they have an amazing selection of teas and coffees that are addicting! I always ask them to make me whatever Hookah flavor they want and they always make it just perfect. A cool atmosphere with great tea and good smoke. The setup here is perfect. They have several different selections of smoke to choose from and they make it easy by breaking it into types such as sweet or spicy when picking out. The tea however is think an underrated strong point. Both my tea and my partners tea were really good. I haven't had tea that good since living in DC. They also refill it when it gets low. They are also always running around always working the pipes and checking on people. The wait time to get your smoke is minimal. The chill calm atmosphere of the place is definitely a factor working for it. I've been to other hookah bars in the states and they are loud and full of drunks. This place has more of a vibe of lounges outside of the states. It is membership based but that cuts down on the belligerent people. Great place to go smoke and chill for PTSD people. You'll fell fine with the space and relaxed nature of everything. Try it. read more

What an amazing place. My son and his girlfriend have a membership here and they are always raving. They finally brought me here for a night out on a Tuesday and it was better than expected. Such a cool vibe! Excellent, friendly, warm staff. Very lounge-y space which is dimly lit, comfortable, and inviting. Not to mention access to flat screen TVs which you can play PlayStation or watch videos on YouTube or Netflix (muted). The music that they play is perfect! Sometimes they have a DJ. The hookah flavors are great, the hookahs are absolutely beautiful (German-made) and don't get me started on the great loose leaf teas that they have. Note: Alcohol is not served here, but I actually thought that was the best part. Don't get me wrong, I like a good beer or libation, but the absence of alcohol made everything more organic and pure. I think this is a great place solo, with a friend or two, or on a date! Thank you High Desert! read more

Thank you HighDesert for such an amazing project what you are building! From the first steps we fell in love with the environment and service was great! Phenomenal quality of hookahs with great variety of flavours and different kind of bowls as well as fruit bowls etc. though the place is located in Downtown we had no problems with the parking as it's located right behind the building and they are saying they'll have a valet option soon! This new hookah lounge is a hidden gem made for those who appreciate quality and service. The venue itself inspired by Joshua Tree area vibes as I discovered and it feels like you are in oasis being actually in the heart of LA! Strongly recommend to try the mix we were offered It was (pineapple, coconut shake (masthave flavour) and banana papa from dark side brand! Guys doing an amazing job here so I'm a member from the first visit! read more

Wow what a little hidden gem! Very unexpected from the outside but once you open the doors, you get transported into a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing hookah lounge. The vibe was definitely comfort with beautiful couches and overall such a great time. Service was top notch! Constantly checking if we were okay, changing our coals. The lady Gerry (misspelled, sorry) was so kind and helpful!! Music was great, some jazz hiphop, r&b. The hookah was definitely high quality as well. Will return again! read more

Came in for some hookah and truly enjoyed the vibe. They had excellent customer service. Made sure to check on me and change my coals without asking. Downstairs is more of an open vibe, but upstairs is a lot more intimate. the vibes are amazing up and downstairs. High Desert is a new gem hidden in DTLA providing elevated experience and great atmosphere. I am a regular guest since the very first day as i live here near by! But it worth any drive as the service here is incredible and the quality of the food, hookah and wide selection of tea with an option of tea ceremony is the best! Parking is behind the building and they have parking instructions at their insta so check it out! Valet option will be available after the grand opening! They work every day opening from 5pm to 12 am (till the last guest) At Fridays and Saturdays DJ is playing from 9pm! Strongly recommend!!! read more

What a cool place! I love the vibe here. I've been here both on weekdays and weekends and it has a little bit of everything. Roudier weekends with a DJ and weekdays for a more laid back evening. Great place for an evening laptop work session or just kick back and enjoy the music with friends. Prices were pretty typical of LA ($18-25 a cocktail) but I would say I probably won't come back this late as it's in a shadier part of town. They have a bouncer and it was fine inside, but it's not a place where you can bar hop if that's what you're looking for as the area is seedy. Would be interested to try the food next time, but again, the safety and comfort of the light of day.

The cocktails were definitely on the stronger side, but you could tell they were crafted with high-quality ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience was somewhat tainted by our hostess. She came across as impatient and unwelcoming, which set the tone early on. When we first entered, we were each handed a small glass of liquid, and then she immediately walked away without explaining what it was or what we were supposed to do with it. We assumed it was a welcome drink, so we all took a sip only to discover it was actually a palate cleanser. A little guidance would have gone a long way. The next room had a beautiful bayou-inspired setting. While the historical information was interesting, I found myself wishing the experience leaned more into the mystical or magical themes that the venue seems to promise. One thing worth mentioning is the restroom setup. I don't mind coed restrooms, but there was no signage explaining that the restroom is shared with two open stalls. After waiting quite a while, another staff member happened to walk by and kindly helped us. Once inside, everything turned around again. The bartender was warm, friendly, and helped us choose drinks off the menu. I ordered the piña colada, and while it was much stronger and different from the traditional version I'm used to, it was absolutely delicious!!! Despite some service issues and inconsistent communication, I would still recommend Obscure. The concept is unique, the cocktails are excellent, and the venue is truly one of a kind. Hidden gem in downtown opening on Friday Dec 15 I strongly recommend this place for hookah lovers and for those people who appreciate service and quality. Customer service is top notch. Horrible horrible service by Alex staff member. The arrogance attitude discrimative behavior unesscessary uncalled for while and after spending $168.00 for 1hr and 2 hookahs for 4 people. Whether you have a large group or small ppl, this place can cover all needs as a nice venue. The owner Dmitry is really knowledgeable about hooka and really want to make this venue a great place to hangout and enjoy the hooka experience. All my friends said they offer the best hooka. They have large Parking Lot after 8 is free!!! read more
