Food and drinks were good. The place itself was beautiful! My favorite drink was the Fire Paloma. The forbidden cenote is Smokey be prepare.

I love this place. I need to order something different for once. I always order the same thing. The food is amazing. The vibe is casual and a little in the romantic side.

Vibe here is lovely. Fireplace, bar, food, decor is on point. Dessert, particularly the tres leches is ginormous. Only thing is parking. There's street parking but it can be a little sketch. There is valet available too. Other than that, vibe is great and food is delish.

Ka'teen is a nice little spot to stop by for a drink. It's intimate and have plenty of seating for private and intimate get together and have seats all around the bar. We made a pit stop here before going to another spot, but this bar is definitely one of my favorites. Tucked in between a couple of clubs, it's a perfect for a little reset. The staff is here super attentive and friendly. My favorite cocktail of the night was the Luna verde. A little sweet and refreshing drink to get the night going

I LOVE how Ka'teen is decorated! Super cute seating inside and outside you can't go wrong with where you're seated. They also had a show which was a surprise and super cool (I went on a Saturday night). The server was super sweet and attentive and when I told them I'm gluten-free they brought me a separate menu that highlighted what on the menu was GF. We got a the ceviche, potato taquitos, the steak, papas brava and triples. EVERYTHING was super good! We finished it off with some churros (not gf). Overall super great vibes and can't wait to go back!

Went here for the first time last Friday with a group of six to celebrate my friend! The place itself is gorgeous, especially if you get a nice corner table against the plants. Very good vibes and a great place to come eat or just get drinks (if they allow that). I will say they were super extra about the reservation and texted us to confirm it soooo many times (three times the day of the reservation), which got a little weird and annoying. Regardless, the drinks were delicious - I got some spicy margarita adjacent drink and it was delicious. I loved the guacamole, the enchiladas, short rib tacos, and the patatas bravas (a must).

Second time coming to this restaurant. The first visit was just okay, the service wasn't great and the overall vibe felt a bit low. This time, we decided to give it another shot since it has so many good reviews, and I'm glad we did. The ambiance was much better, with nice Tulum-style vibes and music that really set the mood. From the moment we walked in, service was great. We were greeted and seated right away thanks to our reservation. Our waitress, Brenda, was friendly, attentive, and super helpful in explaining the menu and recommending drinks. She checked in often and made sure everything came out quickly. The food was good overall, though the menu is a bit limited if you don't eat meat or seafood. I was especially looking forward to the fish tacos, but it seems like they've been removed from the menu. One thing I really appreciated was the mocktail options. Perfect if you're not drinking but still want something fun. The Wes Colada is a great pick if you like piña colada type drinks, though it is on the sweeter side. The michelada was also really well done, with a nice balance of savory and sour. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot for a date night or a girls' night out.

Came with friends. It's pretty the lights are lovely the music is a jungle house vibe, the service outstanding and the food was absolutely awesome. We ordered the short rib the branzino the papas bravas the corn (so good) and shrimps. We ordered a lot! All of it was super yummy!

So freakin good! Mezcal Flight was INCREDIBLE and the short rib tacos were out of this world! Queso fundido is a must!

DINERS BEWARE! I'll start with the positive. The food is delicious! The decor is beautiful, with inside/outside dining. The service was great. The reason for 1 star is a potentially serious health issue. SAGE BURNING If you are asthmatic, have COPD, or have any type of respiratory illness where smoke is a determent to your health, this is not good for you. Or if you have smoke or sage allergies. I couldn't even stay in the front because I was having a difficult time breathing. Even the day after, the smell is still in my nose and my throat is sore. It was our first time there and unfortunately with them burning this smoke so throughout, we can't go back. I wasn't able to really enjoy my dinner and ended up taking most of it home. (Literally had only 3 bites) So, again if you have any kind of ailment or allergies against smoke, please be careful eating here. Your health is important.

I honestly would love to rate every dish a ten! I could tell the food would have been great if it didn't taste so salty. You can tell the salsa would have been great, but it had so much salt. I go to restaurants left and right where most foods probably are full of salt, but to actually taste it where you can't enjoy the food! Service was good though. Our server was so nice and attentive. The cooks that came out were very nice. Loved the layout! Oh and I can't forget the drinks! Great drinks!!

    Beautiful design and ambiance

Service was amazing! The staff did a really great job explaining the menu and making our dining experience a great one. They are the reason this restaurant scored so highly other than the ambiance because that too was beautiful and music was great. My ONLY concern that put a damper on our experience was when I went to the women's restroom. I walked in and a male employee was working on a stall. There was one other woman actively using the restroom and when he left I felt comfortable enough to go into the stall but unfortunately felt rushed because not even one minute later he knocked on the door and called out "Housekeeping!" I couldn't even pee. I just decided to leave and when I was done washing my hands he was standing there at the door with it cracked open. NEVER have I ever been to a restaurant where they allow MALE employees into the women's restroom even when there's people actively using the restroom. This is not the employee's fault but rather management.

I had an amazing tamarindo martini at a Las Vegas Mexican restaurant and I'm hoping Ka'teen can also make one, has anyone had a tamarindo martini here?

    Do they accept American Express?

Are kids allowed? Asking for a friend

Entering the restaurant is a bar / lounge area. I have never seen kids there. I would call and ask

Are walk ins allowed to just sit at the bar and drink?

How is the outdoor patio seating?

There are dining tables with a covered roof, for in the open air - tables with bench seating, booth style, and coffee table style with fire pits in the center. There are lots of heating lamps around for the cold.

How noisy is the restaurant? Do they play music so loud you can't talk to your friends?

Yes, it's obnoxiously loud and hard to hear, especially if you're sitting next to any of the speakers. We had a difficult time talking to each other.

    Is brunch kid friendly?

In my opinion yes, however, the food choices may not be... depending on the child

Is it pricey as the menu has no prices listed and I want to go for a business dinner?

I'd say mid pricing. Yes, parking is valet in that area. The cocktails on pricier side. Food not as much. It's Hollywood. My daughter treated for my Bday. 2 of us. 2 appetizers, 2 cocktails, 2 mains, dessert & coffee about $250 with tip.

Is there a strict dress code or is casual ok?

No dress code. But it's upscale. Upscale casual would be best.

    Do they have happy hour?

I do not think they do but call to confirm.

    Is there parking?

    No parking lot...but valet available.

Do they take walk ins or is it reservation only?

We had a reservation when we went, this place gets very busy so I would recommend a reservation.

Do they have a bar area for just to chill and have drinks? And do you need reservations for the bar?

Yes they have a bar area. I don't think you need a reservation

Is there a minimum fee per person on a party of 10+?

Hi there... I would definitely call them if you have a +10 party they do have some very nice tables to accommodate you.

Is the most we can reserve a table for up to 11 people (per website) ? Or anything larger would we have to call? Planning a birthday celebration! :)

I would personally try to go there and reserve if you have more than they allow on the website. They usually do not pick up the phone. Hopefully they will.

Is it loud on the patio and not a good location for conversation?

Yes it is loud on the patio. Could hardly hear my bf across from me.

Does the restaurant allow a small dog for their outdoor tables? (I called the restaurant several times but they don't answer phone calls and didn't respond to my email either).

Not sure but you can call and ask them?

    Proof of vaccination needed?

It's all outside so not needed.

The sauce helped bring some juiciness back and balanced it out. The bluefin tuna bibimbap was pretty enjoyable. The tuna tasted fresh and the textures worked well together, but the dish could have used a little more seasoning to make the flavors pop. The perilla was a great touch though. It added a slightly minty flavor that complemented the tuna without taking over the dish. The beef short rib was easily the standout. PERFECTLY cooked, incredibly tender, and seasoned just right. The richness of the meat paired so well with the lettuce wraps that it almost feels like they should automatically come with the dish. Service was good and everything came out smoothly. The space is small, so you'll inevitably have your conversation interrupted by an alluring siren's call or some ceremonial rowers. This is a crucial part of the tiki experience for me. We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. It wasn't your typical corner haunt. There was an intentionality here that turned a simple evening out into a genuine education. The curation of spirits was nothing short of impressive, but what set the experience apart was the conversation. I arrived knowing the difference between a glass and a bottle, but left with a newfound appreciation for the nuances of rum, the craftsmanship behind a smooth whiskey, and the unexpected complexities hidden within a well-made vodka. Each pour came with a story, a history, and a level of expertise that transformed every sip into a lesson. The atmosphere was the perfect anchor for it all--utterly chill and devoid of the frantic, forced energy you find elsewhere. It was the kind of place where the music sits at just the right volume and the lighting invites you to actually linger. It was refreshing to find a spot that treats its craft with such respect while keeping the vibe completely grounded. I walked out feeling a little more cultured and a lot more relaxed. Consider this my official notice: I'll definitely be back.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like you've been transported somewhere else. Every room is thoughtfully designed, and the atmosphere is immersive and unlike anything we've experienced before. The storyteller was welcoming, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. I really enjoyed learning about the history of alcohol and the stories behind each tasting. The cocktails were definitely on the stronger side, but you could tell they were crafted with high-quality ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience was somewhat tainted by our hostess. She came across as impatient and unwelcoming, which set the tone early on. When we first entered, we were each handed a small glass of liquid, and then she immediately walked away without explaining what it was or what we were supposed to do with it. We assumed it was a welcome drink, so we all took a sip only to discover it was actually a palate cleanser. A little guidance would have gone a long way. The next room had a beautiful bayou-inspired setting. While the historical information was interesting, I found myself wishing the experience leaned more into the mystical or magical themes that the venue seems to promise. One thing worth mentioning is the restroom setup. I don't mind coed restrooms, but there was no signage explaining that the restroom is shared with two open stalls. Some guests may appreciate a heads-up, especially those who might feel uncomfortable or triggered by that arrangement. After the tastings, you're taken outside. A few of us stopped to use the restroom first, and when we returned, our friend had already left the table and all of our drinks had been cleared away. We were disappointed because we hadn't finished them. Our friend had been told she couldn't take the drinks with her, but when we returned we could take them outside. She was told that they'd be there when we got back. We were disappointed. The outdoor portion of the experience also felt a bit rushed. We barely had time to enjoy our drinks, let alone take photos of the beautiful space. The beignets at the end, however, were absolutely delicious and a highlight of the evening! Finally, we were escorted to the members-only bar, which was stunning. It gave off major Harry Potter vibes with its hidden, magical atmosphere. One of my friends was still finishing her drink on the patio since we couldn't legally walk on the sidewalk with it. Our hostess told us she'd come back for us but she never did. After waiting quite a while, another staff member happened to walk by and kindly helped us. Once inside, everything turned around again. The bartender was warm, friendly, and helped us choose drinks off the menu. I ordered the piña colada, and while it was much stronger and different from the traditional version I'm used to, it was absolutely delicious!!! Despite some service issues and inconsistent communication, I would still recommend Obscure. The concept is unique, the cocktails are excellent, and the venue is truly one of a kind. I'm hoping our hostess was simply having an off day, because with more attentive service, this experience could easily be five stars.
