They don't pour wine or takes more than a half an hour to bring any drinks, so there was absolutely zero service and I don't even know why we are tipping at this point. Food - 3/5. We usually come here for happy hour with my coworkers so I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet. The Hideaway is exactly that. A small restaurant located inside this plaza in Beverly Hills that you would never know about unless someone told you. Every time I've been, the waiters, service and management have been so nice and come check on you constantly. There are several sections in the restaurant (I think 3 but I could be wrong), but we've dined in the main room which has a retractable ceiling for when it's too sunny out, they have a bar area that has a small little lounge section in the back of it, and it looks like there may be another section that I haven't been to. The place definitely gives off those Latin vibes and you feel it once you arrive. As for the food, my boss ordered appetizers for the table, which were shrimp tacos, flautas, and empanadas which were all very good! My favorite were the flautas with guac. For my main dish I went with the Chilean sea bass with a side of broccolini and rice. That sea bass was phenomenal! It had a nice sweet glaze on it with a very slit crisp texture on the top. I found this cozy comfortable Mexican restaurant on Rodeo Drive tucked away in the lower level to be an awesome place to visit. The food was delicious and well prepared and drinks were quality liquor. It is a little tight in the bar area so our group was squeezing by each other, but it was fun nonetheless. I like the layout of the restaurant lots of nooks and places to explore. The host and servers were all great. I forgot to feed my parking meter and a friend happened to spot my car and called the restaurant. The host took the time to seek me out. I've always wanted to come here, so my brother brought me for my birthday and it exceeded every expectation. Located right on Rodeo in Beverly Hills, this place delivers such a beautiful, upscale experience from the moment you walk in. The service is truly top tier. The team is attentive, welcoming, and makes you feel taken care of the entire time. I had the chance to meet Kyle, the manager, who was amazing, and Taylor at the front was just as kind and accommodating. They really elevated the whole experience. Since it was my birthday, they went out of their way to make it special with champagne and ice cream, which I loved. Now the food and drinks were so good. I had the Donkey tequila drink, which is basically a margarita served inside a little donkey, such a fun and unique touch, and it tasted amazing. I also ordered an appetizer that was on the smaller side, but it was still really good and honestly did not take away from the experience because the meal itself was perfectly sized. We got the tomahawk steak with chimichurri, and it was incredible, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. One of my favorite parts of the experience was the table side service. They prepared part of the meal right in front of us, which made everything feel more interactive, elevated, and exciting, especially for a first visit and for a birthday. Overall, everything from the aesthetics to the service to the food was on point. This is one of those places that feels like an experience, not just dinner. Came here for lunch Sunday afternoon. We didn't have reservations but were seated promptly and the host was kind to ask where we would like to sit. We ordered food and drinks and for a father and son day I was pretty impressed. Being a father with a five year old son we were treated with respect and care. This restaurant has an old-world charm - a mixture of boho Mexican with a Hollywood flare. I can see why it's called the hideaway because the inside does feel quite hidden with many rooms that are dim and rustic. Food was very tasty. We ordered the trio sampler and beef empanadas for starters. The sampler of tuna tartare fried taco, fish ceviche, and shrimp fried taco was so delicious. Beef empanadas were pretty good. For entrees, we had branzino and prime New York steak with chimichurri sauce. The steak was tender, cooked perfectly and very flavorful. And the branzino was also moist and delicious. Cocktail drinks were decent. Service was just decent. They were very busy, and our waitress was nice but quite rushy when taking orders. As much as the food was good overall, I do feel that the price point is too expensive. For example, the trio sampler portion was pretty small yet it costs $38. I know that it's intended to be a Mexican steakhouse, but to pay that high of price for upscale Mexican food really doesn't make sense when there are very good high-end Mexican restaurants elsewhere for cheaper. read more

The service was excellent and our Gavin Newsom doppelgänger (GND) waiter had great recommendations and didn't hesitate replacing a cocktail that I thought was too smokey for my taste. GND checked in regularly and definitely a pro. We had a steak, lambchops and branzino fish (which I only knew about from the Bear) along with several sides. The tacos come dismantled for you to assemble which isn't so bad but my tacos were very bland. The chipotle sauce recipe needs to be re-done, I was not a fan of it. The enchiladas were just okay. Our servers kept checking on us and asking us how was the food, if is there anything we need? We didn't feel rushed at all. Also, they were out of one of the menu items we ordered. Our servers apologized and suggest another item. It was so good glad we listened to his suggestions. What made the experience more pleasant was even manager came over and apologized for the item being sold out for the day. That was really heartwarming and very kind of the people working there. It is understandable that on Sundays afternoon/evening restaurants might run out of items. For food, I can say it was one of the best Mexican foods that I had recently. Dips were out of this world, they were so good. I would suggest ordering empanadas because they were delicious. Tacos are so good too. For Ambiance, I would say that this location is picture worthy for Instagram. It is very nicely decorated and table set up is really cute. It is a very cozy restaurant. The Hideaway is tucked away on the outskirts, so definitely drive slow and keep your eyes open for the small entryway that opens into an outdoor plaza shared with other businesses (food spots + med spas). Parking is available right next to the building, but the entrance to the underground garage is very small. Heads up: if you have a big truck, I'd recommend parking elsewhere. Parking details (because we all need the tea): * Underground parking at the restaurant is $15 for the first 30 minutes or $30 max for the day (I paid the $30). * About a block away, there's $10 all-day parking, but this was on a Sunday--use your discretion. Once you park underground, there's an elevator that takes you straight up to the first floor and literally drops you off right in front of the restaurant--super convenient. Now let's talk vibes. The moment you walk in, it feels like you've been transported to Cuba. Think dim lighting, small lit candles throughout the space, and an intimate, warm glow that instantly sets the mood. My guest and I were given the option to sit indoors by the bar/booths or outside on the patio. The patio was adorable--very Victorian meets Cuba meets Golden Girls furniture but tastefully done and so cute. We chose a booth next to the bar, which came with small TVs (Super Bowl Sunday, baby!). The sound was off and the TV was slightly delayed, but honestly it didn't kill the vibe. Service was top tier. From the hostess to the salad maker to our server, Carlos--everyone was genuinely kind and attentive. Carlos checked in on us consistently without hovering and made the night feel special. Presentation was beautiful, though the Dijon mustard in the dressing came through a bit strong for my personal taste. Still very good. * Main: I chose the tempura branzino, which was light, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My guest had the steak and fries, and that plate was cleaned. No notes. * Cocktails: We both tried A Night in Tulum--smooth, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. * Dessert: Blueberry sorbet with a touch of mint--light, refreshing, and the perfect ending. Came here for Dine LA and my experience here was pretty good. $25 for a 3-course lunch in this area is such as steal! Firstly, the table chips and salsa were good. There were huge chunks of tomato in the salsa which was different, but I still enjoyed the roasted veggie flavor of the salsa. For the appetizer, I ordered the chicken empanadas and they were relatively good. They reminded me of Filipino-style empanadas which are baked and sweet which these ones were too with the sweet dipping sauce. Additionally, they gave my friend and I small quesadillas with guac on the house which was nice and they were pretty tasty. For the main course, I chose the Short Rib Enchiladas and they were okay. They didn't feel or taste authentic, but they were still tasty. Lastly for dessert, I ordered the flan which was good, but it was not mind-blowing. The part I enjoyed the most was the ambiance and experience. This restaurant is hidden in the middle of some buildings in Beverly Hills. I enjoyed dining outdoors in what felt like a Spanish/Mexican courtyard. Everything felt luxurious and well decorated. I also liked the service which was very efficient and attentive. Very stylish Mexican steakhouse tucked away inside the Rodeo collection. The food, the ambiance and the service were just spectacular. Also they are pet friendly so was able to bring my little furbaby on a brunch date. There's also a large outdoor patio space with cabanas and small open fire in the center of the room. Felt like I was in Cuba. The weather was nice and warm so got seated in the patio. Has a little purse hanger to the side and my cutie pie furbaby in her stroller on the other side. We were first presented with house made fresh, warm tortilla chips with side of salsa and bean dip (soooo good). They also served a cute amuse bouche. After-much thought I ordered the Pescado Zarandeado, and boy if I didn't order it I would have hated myself. Thank you, thank you, thank you Jairus for the recommendation. This dish was absolutely splendid. Tender branzino fillet which was seasoned with two different flavoring. One was the salsa verde (an avocado based sauce) and the second was the salsa Roja (spicy red sauce). Both had different flavoring but was equally phenomenal. I was also given a side of special house made spicy sauce to try (fantastic!!!). The Branzino comes with a choice of corn or flour tortilla (of course I went with the corn tortilla). Also ordered a side of cilantro rice. Wrapped all of this deliciousness in the corn tortilla topped off with the house spicy sauce and OMG it just melted in my mouth. Finished the dish in no time. Heard there was another diner who actually ended up ordering a second branzino dish. I totally understand. At the end, I received a margarita sorbet on the house. Very refreshing lime ade flavored sorbet. Sooo good and such an amazing finish to a great lunch. Thank you Jairus for the recommendations. You made our experience so memorable. Nice location and great atmosphere for a December weekday afternoon as it was cool but we were seated outside next to the firepit which made it pleasant. The chips and salsa was slightly spicy and very addictive. Went with the prix fix menu: Chicken Empanadas- Flaky crust and filled with juicy chicken so pretty generous 2 piece starter. Beef Rib Enchiladas- Another decent portion of shredded juicy beef with a mild red sauce and melted cheese paired with bowls of cilantro rice and a black bean which made a great dip for the chips. Went here yesterday for girl dinner and it was such a cute experience! We ordered drinks which came with the words "GRL DNR" written on the top in powder and it was adorable. The girl dinner menu included one appetizer, a chicken ceasar salad, and a dessert choice for 25 dollars! All the drinks were 10$ extra. It was so worth it. The restaurant itself was so girly and cute as well and felt like we were in an adorable casita. Had a wonderful holiday meal here! Parking is easy in the lot near the restaurant; if you're eating here, it's a flat $15 rate for valet and then The Hideaway is right up the stairs. When I arrived, the hostess seated me on the patio, which was a nice covered patio. It was raining, but we all stayed dry and got to enjoy a working fireplace! We chose the Prixe Fixe menu ($75pp) and got the Tuna Tarare tacos, the Lamb Chops and the flan. Everything was so good! The peach mole sauce is spectacular with the lamb. So tasty. My friend and I both have food allergies, and unfortunately, we were served dishes that included ingredients we're allergic to. What impressed me most was how quickly the team responded. The staff immediately shifted into action, and the manager came out personally to check on us and make sure we were okay. While my friend was fine, I did experience some discomfort later on. Even so, the level of care and accountability shown meant a lot. The manager took care of our bill and handled everything with professionalism and compassion. I came here for Saturday lunch over Valentine's Day weekend and it was just okay. The food portion is fairly small and they seemed unprepared for the influx of customers. We asked the server twice for our michelada drink and after 50 minutes it came out. There also are two different menus with different prices on it - one for lunch and a higher priced, slightly different menu for dinner. We had received one of each and when asking about the difference, they brought out another lunch menu that also had the dinner menu again. I went to this restaurant for the first time last night. We made a reservations early in the week after requested a nice table with a view. When the hostess took us to a table in the corner with absolutely no view, we requested to be moved. The hostess was so utterly annoyed by our request. She walked back to the front, and she took a receipt out of the receipt feeder and crumpled it in her hand before selecting another table for us. I have never experienced that before, so it really caught my attention because it was such rude and odd behavior. While the our actual server was nice, it seems like all the servers were stressed possibly because they were understaffed. The couples on either side of us struggled to get their servers attention just to request drinks, appetizers, and food. At one point another server suddenly approaches the couple sitting next to me and asks if they saw a wallet that had been left there. They told her they didn't find a wallet, and kindly began asking if they could at least order some appetizers. That server stared at her blankly, and literally just turned around and walked away. The couple just sat there in disbelief. Mid-dinner, an extremely loud noise started. It sounded like a generator or something. It was loud and I was having a difficult time hearing the person sitting in front of me. This obnoxious noise lasted around 15 minutes. And then, finally, when my food came, it was another server that dropped my plate off on the edge of my table. I asked her if she could please remove my appetizer plate so that I could center my dinner plate; she didn't even let me finish my request when she immediately turned around and walked away. I was looking forward to dinner, the food was great as was the ambiance. But the service really left a bad impression. It felt more like I was in the Twilight Zone because several times I asked myself "Did that really just happen?" I would be less surprised if this was a restaurant in some random street corner, but certainly falls short of the caliber of service expected of any restaurant in Beverly Hills, let alone on Rodeo drive. read more

It's Dine LA week so I decided to stop by for lunch which was surprisingly not busy. Made a reservation on Open Table. They don't automatically provide you the Dine LA menu, you have to ask. I don't think people realize the uno, dos, tres on their regular menu is the Dine LA special. Our server Brent was nice and made sure to check on us. I would say anticipate slow service, it may just be the norm for this place. I'd like to think it is because the food is being made fresh.
