The setting is classic LA--flowers, patio, sunny Sunday--and my wife and daughters girls loved the aesthetic. I figured that would be the main draw, but food and service were both outstanding. Our server was friendly and attentive, everything came out timely and well executed. It's pricey, but for the overall experience, we felt it was worth it. The Ivy has always been one of my favorite places, so I was really looking forward to returning after not having been there in a while. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing enough that I'm not sure I'll be returning anytime soon. We went for an early lunch, and the experience started off poorly with a host who was unnecessarily rude. I was also surprised to find that they now charge for the scones. I wouldn't have minded paying for them if they had been good, but they were hard, and we didn't even finish them. The food was equally disappointing. The salmon did not taste fresh at all--it honestly tasted as though it had been sitting for days. And my longtime favorite, the Lobster Club Sandwich, barely seemed to have any lobster in it. There was a time when I would have refrained from dining at any place that was known for attracting "celebrities", or being bougie and hip. I think I have only been to The Ivy in Beverly Grove one earlier time with my mother-in-law decades ago, who liked shopping on Rodeo and eating in the environs. So, I guess I chose this past weekend to try The Ivy with some reservations (and you do need one, btw, every day of the week) and expectation that I would be disappointed or alienated by something associated with this literal Los Angeles institution. But, I was both surprised and not surprised by the leisurely lunch we spent on the patio on a warm and humid Sunday afternoon. When we arrived, with a reservation, we were early. It didn't faze the reception team and they pointed to a small table outside or gave us the option to be seated inside. Inside, so I have been advised, is a good choice in cold weather and the patio is the preferred spot at all other times. Once seated, comfortably, we found the table to be spacious enough and were happy to enjoy the sunshine in the shaded corner and the occasional breeze that relieved the heat. The menu at The Ivy is limited for vegetarians and vegans, I being the former. However, I did see a half dozen things from which to put a meal together and ordered accordingly. I was not disappointed. The dishes came out quickly and were generously portioned (see my photos). Each item was superb. Truly, delicious and so it was clear to me that this family-own restaurant knows the best recipes and formulas for what they serve. For example, I had one of the best soups ever, the corn chowder. I liked it so much that I am going to replicate it (if I can) for an upcoming meal. Each dish was better than the last and the Tarte Tatin that capped lunch was among the most flavorful and unusual I have had anywhere, in any city on earth. There is a lot to recommend trying The Ivy. The service was exceptional, with the very professional and courteous Matt fussing over us in a convivial and congenial way that was charming and endeared us to the place instantly. He was a font of knowledge but never intrusive. He offered his suggestions, should we need them, and the ones we accepted were right on the money. Manuel was also ever at the ready to keep us supplied with each course, fresh silverware, and a clean table. Let's talk about the money for a moment. The Ivy is not cheap. Yet, it is not the most expensive we have experienced in the last few years, either and unlike some of those stratospherically priced "in-spots" in Los Angeles, the food and service is perfect here. Two cautionary notes: if you are on a budget, don't let them offer you the "still" water. We got two modest glasses out of a carafe that cost $11.00. I want to help the hospitality secter in these budget-straining times, but I can't tell the difference between tap and bottled. My own oversight, as I know better. Unless you are a connoisseur of plain H20, learn from my gullibility: order tap water or nothing. The rare exception, I posted our bill here for you to get an idea of what a modest afternoon repast costs at The Ivy. Worth it to me, anyway. Also, I am personally not fond of handing my beautiful and pampered chariot over to strangers to whisk away somewhere. Right across the street from The Ivy is a $15.00 parking garage with tons of space and you have the security of parking and locking it yourself. My baby was in and out in minutes. All that aside. Don't go to The Ivy expecting to be surrounded by the stars. Go for the enjoyment of the flowered patio, the kind servers, the exquisite quality of the food and being in lovely Beverly Grove. I grew up in Manhattan and was among celebs and estrellas all the time. That doesn't impress me and there were none dining with us, as far as I know. The most accurate mixture between an elevated and homey dining experience you will find. Coming to the Ivy feels like going to an elevated backyard of your friend who throws the most elevated gatherings and dinner parties. It will always be jam-packed (from what I have been told) but that adds to the energy. The dishes were yummy but to me the overall energy and palpable vibe of the place are the standouts. The Ivy is a beautiful restaurant with an upscale menu, known back in the day for celebrity sightings while dining. I would say, it's not quite as celeb-heavy as it once in the late 90s and 00s but you'll still see them popping in here and there. The patio is just gorgeous and quite charming surrounded by their signature white picket-fence and lush greenery. The service is truly top notch with very friendly staff abound. Now, I've been for brunch myself and was a bit shocked at the prices, paying $55 for an omelette and juice without tax & tip. However, you need to look at the Ivy as an experience, an event, an immersion into LA life. I've heard very good things about their dinner menu so need to go back to try that out next! The moment you cross the fence you're greeted by warm jazz playing overhead. All staff is distinguished by their outfit, and although the place is small and you might bump it make room for others walking it's instantly homey. Your greeter will sign you in and almost immediately show you to your seat. Outside garden is surrounded by greenery and a cute brick wall that compliments the entire space. I'll add food information soon (: okay so the chilaquiles (no chorizo) and eggs were delightful. Tortillas still crispy and piping hot, cilantro garnish, with the sour cream on the side is how it's done, allows the experience to be more personal. The frijolitos (blk beans) are a perfectly seasoned and the tiny side of it gives just the perfect amount to enjoy throughout the meal. Lobster Scramble is def on point and the flavor does not disappoint it is most def cheesy to the max and served almost like a lobster egg n cheese fajitas scramble. The IV is a hidden gem right at 113 N Robertson Boulevard just south of West Hollywood in Beverly Hills. The experience from start to finish is absolutely a wonderful you pull up in valet. Take care of your car. You come in through the picket fence to this amazing garden with roses and a great vibe. The food is delicious., no matter what you order you really can't go wrong. We chose The Ivy for brunch with our friends on our wedding day, right after our courthouse ceremony, and we could not have chosen a better place. The staff were extremely nice and professional, on top of everything. Our waiter Brandon was impressive in how attentive and professional he was. He heard everything we needed and made a point to help us with all of it. We never had to ask for the same thing twice, they never left us with an empty cup, congratulated us on our wedding, and did an amazing job with our cake, cutting and serving it for us. Absolutely stunning venue with food to match. The restaurant was full, but the waitstaff were completely relaxed. No pressure to "turn tables" and rush people through. One has the feeling of dining in a lovely garden with all the time in the world. To start, we were presented with complimentary scones, light, perfect texture. still warm, along with cream and jam. I remember pre covid they gave a complimentary glass of champagne. I feel like this time there was no vibe but there is always people watching here. My breakfast burrito for the price was whatever. This was the cutest restaurant, ever. I took my mom and she had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful with all of the many differently flowers throughout the establishment. Very cute, quaint, historic setting. I would recommend sitting outside if possible. We almost got sat at this table in the corner inside where one of people can't even see anything aside from an Eiffel Tower statue. Luckily we were able to ask if we could wait 15 more minutes from an outside table. The iced coffee was great, the Cesar salad appetizer was also very good and fresh, the lobster pasta was also pretty good with fresh lobster, and the lobster benefits were also good with the potatoes. The included scones are also amazing. For those who frequent the restroom, it was very nice even with poperie, but there are only 2 bathrooms and always a line. Lived in LA for a while. Not long enough to say I'm a native but long enough that I should have visited a lot of iconic restaurants like this one - The Ivy. Well, I finally did and I have to say, I had a good time. I was worried about the parking but found a parking garage. It's located less than one block south of the restaurant. I don't remember how much but it was clean, manned (booth attendant) and was less than 150 yards from the restaurant. Didn't have to do laps looking for street parking (metered) or hand my ride over to Valet. Service was great. Hostess was friendly and nice - nice enough to seat me about 20 minutes early for my reservation. No bar - I was given a choice of where to sit and I went with her recommendation to sit outdoors. The server was great as well. Took care of business, answering questions, and making sure my friend and I were well taken care of. I had steak. What else would i have? And I love it when it's prepared like I ask - and if you know me, it's gonna be rare! See pics. You've seen it in dozens of movies, so the Ivy is a must-try for every Angeleno, at least once. My first time there was to commemorate an occasion, and it was the perfect place for a special outing. The place is visually interesting and unique - multicoloured roses on every table, primary-hued vintage-bulb Christmas lights, charmingly printed pottery dishes, and farmhouse décor. Service is impeccable, efficient and aware of the possibility of high-profile clientele. It's an odd mix of upscale and homespun. The cocktails were incredible - fresh-tasting and delicious. We tried the LA G&T and the mango pineapple margarita. We also enjoyed a strong espresso martini with dessert. With dinner, you'll receive a complimentary small, dense bread round with butter. The rib plate was nice, juicy meat with a flavourful sauce, slaw, crispy french fries. The lobster ravioli in pink sauce was divine. For afters, we split the aforementioned martini and a piece of key lime pie, appropriately tangy with homemade whipped cream. The service is good. The gentlemen were friendly and knowledgeable. The property is cute. The food, however, is really something else. The best thing I had was the corn chowder. It was a little watery, but I did enjoy the flavors, the contrast of sweet and savory. It's not my favorite corn chowder in the world, but I did enjoy it. The onion rings were weird. They were too thin, not succulent at all, and the batter kept falling off to the point that these didn't feel like onion rings. The soft-shell crab was weird too. The flavors weren't awful; they were actually quite good! But the texture of the crab, the lack of a crunch due to the Cajun sauce... it just felt like the dish was ill-conceived. The food did not feel like it tasted as good as it cost. I've paid those prices to eat at places like Petit Trois, Michael Mina, Republique, Nobu, and Kali, and though none of these places are even close to cheap, I feel like I at least get my value most of the time. I did not feel that way here at the Ivy. Don't get me wrong: the food at the Ivy isn't bad. However, I feel like it should cost half as much as what it costs right now. read more

This is one of my partner's bucket list restaurants and we finally got to check it out in February 2026. It's exactly as we expected, with a mix of tourists and Beverly Hills area folks. Pretty floral/garden themed decor with some "rustic" furniture here and there make it seem less pretentious although the pricing and service definitely are in the "upscale" tier. The food was OK for me. My partner ordered the carne asada and I ordered chicken. Neither dish made us think we need to come back for more. The service was wonderful. The cocktails were on the weak side for the price, but I understand where we are here. We may go back on our next trip to LA but there are so many other great choices. This is a review from a recent dineLA experience. I'm surprised I never reviewed The Ivy; I came here years ago and although I thought it was good enough, I obviously never returned. Seeing they were participating in restaurant week for the summer, I figured this would be a decent time to revisit. As I settled in, I notice two forks; one had a distinctive red hair tangled in its tines. I'm not a redhead. I let one of the many busboys around know, and he simply looked at it, pulled the hair away, while leaving the fork, not saying a word. I might have laughed at how absurd this was, from The Ivy of all places. Needless to say when he went to clear the other place setting from the table, I grabbed one of those forks, having him take away the one that had hair in it that with common sense you think he should have had removed, but didn't. Took about 4 minutes to receive a menu (none were for dineLA) so I let the actual waiter know when he came by to introduce himself. A raisin scone with butter and jam arrives before the first course, so it appears as though this was forgotten. When the chips and guacamole arrived less than a couple minutes later, this presentation was a joke. You could count how many chips there were on this large plate. What was odd is that the guacamole portion was actually fairly decent, which ended up being wasted. However the entree for the chicken had two pieces of meat (when I expected one) but the mashed potatoes and corn could have been slightly more generous. The mango sauce for the entree was okay, but not really needed since the food was so flavorful. Thank goodness the three cookies can't be messed with, although I forgot to ask if they had the ones without nuts, but I'll still eat them. Their lunch cost is $65, where a lot of lunch deals cap out at $35 or so but this is The Ivy, so consider this a splurge. In some ways, it is worth it if it's your debut visit here since they offer a lot of their popular items, including the grilled vegetable salad. Seeing this was their first time doing this promotion, I'm grateful they participated, but they could use some work. Suggestions if they want to do dineLA in the future: I understand portions can be smaller for this as I've eaten at many other places over the years for this, but they need to get it right where its actually balanced. More chips for the guacamole, and maybe measure the sides better for the entree. Food WAS decent; even the 10 chips or so I had were fresh and crisp. Service started off pretty poor as I mentioned, but a couple of the guys were fine, including the waiter and a guy with dark-rimmed glasses who was working a couple other tables in the dining room. The Ivy is most likely not a place for me, especially since I stick out as I prefer sitting inside over out since I'm not an outdoors kind of person. Still a heavy area for tourists as I overheard them coming in demanding the patio seating, or with that request, they could have been the regulars for all I know. I love the Ivy! Everything about the Ivy reminds me of home. It's almost as if your grandma is in a Jane Austin book and you're going to visit her. It's beautiful. They always have fresh flowers, so you feel like you're dining on the back porch in the garden. Regarding the menu, there's something for everyone and everything is delicious. There is nothing on the menu that is not wonderful. If this will be your first time going to the Ivy, don't be intimidated. The wait staff is always down to earth and friendly. It's cute in here. The service is fast. Food is cool. Nothing spectacular to see here per se, but the service is great and the atmosphere is very cozy. The diners seated on either side of you are very close, heads up. I got the lobster pasta, which was tender and the pasta was fresh. A pinch of salt helped it along for sure. Had a great experience recently. The service, the food and the ambiance were perfect and helped us celebrate a special occasion. Not only is it a fun and delightful restaurant -- the service is impeccable and the food fantastic! We sampled a new Bread they offerred and we all had different and delicious meals. My husband took me to The Ivy for my birthday last month, as I had been talking about trying it for many years. It was a lovely surprise in many ways, and overall might be a spot I'd return to - but the atmosphere is definitely what you're paying for here. First off, the food was... good. Really good. But not spectacular. I had imagined our meal would be epic, given the years this little spot has been in business and the many, many films it has been featured in. But everything we had was just very good. It was the service that truly blew me away. The staff is FIVE STAR. So attentive, so polished and professional. And no rushing you through a meal - they took their time between courses and allowed us plenty of space to enjoy our conversation. Very impressed with the waitstaff there. I regret not trying their signature lobster dishes - I just wasn't in the mood for pasta that night.
