The inside is cosy and casual, and it's a bit romantic. There's usually a nice buzz of people in the late afternoon. This intimate bar first opened in West Hollywood in 2013. The entrance is on the side of a beautiful historic Hollywood Spanish Gothic style building on Westbourne Drive, off Santa Monica Boulevard. You could almost miss it from the street as it's kind of hidden which is definitely part of its charm. About a century ago it was a studio for silent film star Charlie Chaplin and later a library for Sherman, which was the name of West Hollywood before it was incorporated. So this is a beautiful and historic location with a fascinating history, V Wine Room serves about 30 different wines by the glass and a large selection by the bottle, mostly small California wineries from the Napa Valley. Came here on a Saturday around 5:45 and got the 7-piece charcuterie board with 5 cheeses and 2 meats for $48. We also got the 3 half-glass wine flight for $35. We were able to be seated without issue since it was just two of us, but we noticed that around 6:30, things started filling up, and it seemed like only people with reservations or parties under two would be able to be seated quickly. So if you're coming during peak hours or in a larger group, definitely make a reservation! Our servers were very friendly and helpful. Everything we had was amazing, though in hindsight, we would have preferred to have 4 cheese and 3 meats for a better balance. They were kind enough to refill our crackers when we ran out. You can also get cheese and charcuterie or even order sushi from the restaurant around the corner. They even have a happy hour for their first hour every day, where wines that were opened the night before are $2 off. How can you lose?! (Answer: you can't.) On my most recent visit, Craig was manning the bar and couldn't have been more helpful. But, really, no matter who's there that day, you'll be treated well! V Wine Room has an extensive list, and while they used to only serve sushi, they now offer sake, and a variety of food options. We had the pepperoni pizza that is made in house - and we were so impressed! We already have selected our next food and drink pairing for our next visit. The charcuterie boards are always to perfection. The spicey jam that comes with the menu options is our personal favorite - and it is offered for purchase by the jar. It's truly delightful when paired with your favorite meats/cheeses. V Wine Room is one of my favorite places in West Hollywood. It has a relaxing and classy ambiance without feeling overly trendy. One of my favorite things about this place is the staff -- I know close to nothing about wine and they've always given good recommendations without being pretentious (which is rare for a wine bar...and for being a wine bar in WeHo specifically). It doesn't get too crowded and it's fairly easy to find a place to sit. I've come here a few times to have a glass of wine while doing a bit of work and never had issues getting a table. Since it's not too loud, this would also be a great place to catch up with a friend, or a few, over some drinks without having to scream across the table. Lastly, they put together my favorite charcuterie board (hands down) -- I usually get the cow milk-only board since I'm not into sheep/goat milk.
