We had such a beautiful Mother's Day brunch here. The food was excellent, the service was attentive, and the entire experience felt warm and thoughtful from beginning to end. Chef Luis Morales took the time to chat with us about Costa Rica, which added such a personal touch to the afternoon. The complimentary mac and cheese was absolutely delicious, and the sweet cupcake with a Mother's Day note given to us as we left was such a kind gesture. Just had my second visit to Cavatina on an early weekday morning (my first visit was actually just the previous Saturday, but to-go). This dine-in visit was not so great, and this was due to the service-or lack of-from 'Theo'. Right off the bat, he seemed as though he didn't want to be there as he asked me if I wanted something to drink (water with lemon). To help him along, I told him I already knew what I wanted to order (Continental breakfast w/ pineapple juice, and hot cocoa in lieu of coffee along with a chocolate croissant which he asked if it was okay that it takes 20 minutes, I said yes). Drinks were brought out-no lemon w /the water of course-and the juice looked a little 'dark', but I didn't think much of it. Turns out this was grapefruit juice. When I was able to catch his attention, he told me I had said grapefruit (I never asked for grapefruit juice in my life but mistakes happen, this was an easy fix). Most of the food was brought out eventually by a really nice lady (who actually brought me my club sandwich on Saturday) so I was just waiting for the croissant, aware that there would be a wait since he said so. Plates were cleared by a nice busboy, and Theo came by with the check. I politely asked him about the croissant, he said it was never put in, and I made sure he knew that he told me it would take 20 minutes. He basically said, 'yeah, do you still want it?' At this point, it wasn't going to help so I declined. No apology or accountability at all for his mistake(s), and I even wonder if I even asked for grapefruit juice in the first place now that this was going so bad when this could have been his issue the whole time. However, everyone else I dealt with were great, especially Kayla the hostess. I always want to say something good with the bad, so I'm glad I have a reason to do so, hence the 1-star that I couldn't go any lower on. I first let her know of my experience, and she brought up the name of the manager, but he was busy and I didn't want to go on in front of the server (although I have a feeling he wouldn't give a darn). I was provided with the managers card in case I wanted to reach out, and after sitting on this, I figured I should let him know. I do want to say-not that this may make it any better-this server did seem to have the same attitude with surrounding patrons so I don't believe it was personal, it's just I'm willing to speak up about it. Maybe he figured I was just a hotel guest temporarily there, but nope; I'm a local who was planning on returning. I work right around the corner and know not to recommend this place solely on the terrible service I received from the typical out-of-work actor/aging/failed rock star server. I've let a sufficient amount of time pass due to the holidays, and I never heard from manager Szymon Piechaczek either (after reaching out by email and I did check the spelling to be sure) so I suppose this is their customer service at its best, which for lack of better words, is typical of LA. Just like my hometown of NYC, Los Angeles is blessed with an overabundance of wonderul hotels, many of which have first class restaurants. And some are tucked away on charming canopied side streets so you would have to know where they are to take advantage of them. Last year I had been compiling lists of places that might serve holiday meals when other venues are closed and Cavatina was on the list. However, I thought it might be on Sunset Blvd (guess I wasn't paying attention) and thought the parking would be a nightmare, so I tabled it. Well, I revisited my list and found that it is on a side street, yes in West Hollywood, but no, not on Sunset! Joy! Two-hour parking can be found in various spots surrounding the Marquis with maybe ten minutes of searching, so that was a breeze. I will talk about the hotel separately. For now, I was bowled over at how charming and pretty the restaurant is. It truly emblemizes its name for a short and simple aria. My pictures will illustrate the environment -- literally awash in water features and surrounded by trees and flowers. There are hummingbirds (and the largest coi I have ever seen) everywhere and the place to be is on the covered patio where you can absorb the natural vibe while having excellent food. If it is this verdant in December, imagine April! Now, my second concern was whether or not I would find enough vegetarian dishes and was pleased to see quite a number of possibilities on the menu (see my photos). Everything was perfect, each item. Our servers Theo, Mario, and Robin were the soul of efficiency and cheer. They attended to us promptly, understood our choices, and brought them out in no time. How do I love this place, let me count the ways. Firstly, we were struck by what a hidden gem this place was off the beaten path (Sunset Blve). Beautiful greenery, little bridges, little stream and the best ROCK & ROLL pictures lined throughout the hotel lobby! By the time we got to the open air restaurant, we already had smiles on our faces. I can't say enough about the food, service and ambiance. The potato chips with our cocktails are a must! The hamachi, the prawns, the Moroccan style pasta made with merguez were all so delicious. And while the food was superb, the cherry on the top was the divine Simone, our server. We had both dinner and breakfast at Cavatina when we stayed at the Sunset Marquis. Walking through the tree-lined path to the restaurant felt like we walking into a jungle. It felt tropical and isolated. The restaurant is surrounded by both a waterfall and flowing water right next to the seated area. It's an open-air plan. There are space heaters when it gets chilly out. It is so beautiful and peaceful! It doesn't feel like you're in L.A. What an oasis in the city! The staff were all very friendly from the host to the server. They engaged us in conversation and were so attentive. The food was amazing! We enjoyed both meals. Everything was delicious from the cocktails to the appetizers, entrees and dessert. The Chocolate Espresso Daquoise dessert was a stand-out. Above and beyond in every way! We came to Cavantina as a group of ten to celebrate a birthday, and they absolutely delivered. From start to finish, the service was incredible. They were so accommodating, even creating a custom, off-menu dessert just for the birthday boy, complementary, at that! When my partner's original order wasn't available, they went out of their way to make him a special off-menu dish instead, which he loved. On top of that, they stayed open an hour later than usual so we could keep the celebration going, something you just don't see much anymore. The atmosphere is very serene. As I was staying on property I arrived for an early breakfast when the air is still crisp. I had the perfect view of humming birds sipping nectar from the blooms of a charming ancient tree. The sound of the waterfall was tranquil and relaxing. I felt very comfortable there as a solo traveler although there were many groups there were also a good number of solo diners. The first day I ordered the Birria Benedict which is served with sopes vs trad English muffin which made for a unique textural experience. I also enjoyed the wellness drinks like the detox greens, although it was a bottled drink it still hit the mark. The following day I ordered the continental breakfast which came with a latte or you can have traditional drip coffee, a juice (pineapple/grapefruit/orange), toast, and house made jam. I was pretty happy with my three drink rotation water, latte, and juice. I also ordered some lox and cream cheese. I would most likely skip the lox next time bc it had a strong smell and I wasn't sure if it had gone bad. The fruit that came was a nice variety I'd dragonfruit, raspberries, melon, blackberries, and blue berries. If I stayed an additional day I would try the acai bowl. Overall it was pleasant experience and I would love to return when the construction is complete on the rest of the hotel since it's quite a beautiful property. Amazing experience! A good friend of mine was visiting from the Bay Area and we came here to celebrate her birthday by having a brunch with about 10 friends. First off self parking is not easy, but there is easy valet if you don't mind dropping $15 with validation. The hotel is amazing because the Sunset Marquis is a quintessential rock 'n' roll hotel. Examples for me it's just first thing I see is Pete Townsend in the air in a life-size picture on the wall and they were walking outside by the pool area seeing Joe Strummer. These two guys are two of my rock heroes so the cool factor increases by an order of magnitude immediately. Cavatina, is a beautifully set restaurant with a nice outdoor patio setting with a beautiful landscaping of the Sunset Marquis makes this and oasis in the middle of the city. We had the table in the patio with an amazing view of the oasis and everyone was equally impressed. I received so many kudos for venue choice! Food wise, I had the short ribs hash, and eggs, which was delicious perfectly cooked. Coupled with a couple of mimosas made it a wonderful brunch for myself. Everybody was pleased with their meals and I had a taste of the smoked salmon and another dish (I don't recall the name), but the food was just simply delicious and there were no complaints only positive reviews from others. This was perfect spot for a birthday brunch with good friends. I highly recommend it and I would go back easily. In fact, this is probably one of my third or fourth visits this past year. A hidden gem! If you know.. you know. The food is really good here and they know how to make a delicious Paper Plane. I recommend the shorts ribs and fingerling potatoes, you will not be disappointed I promise. The ambiance is beautiful, you walk by lights, trees and a koi pond on the way in and it's very intimate. Been here twice - first time in the summer was extraordinary: beautiful setting, delicious food, nice server. Second time (winter), the menu was not so great and the food was inedible - the pomodoro sauce tasted like ketchup and bland tomato soup. The bad food was mitigated by the server, who was so incredibly nice. This gets two stars because after we sent the pomodoro back, the manager came over to pick a fight with me over it. I'm torn writing this review because the food and the ambiance are amazing. HOWEVER, we ordered a bottle of wine off the bottle list and it was NOT to the standard it should have been. For a wine from Burgundy that was over $150, it was watered down and flavorless. Management was unable to make a substitution nor was the sommelier there to try it. I can't say where it was a fault, but I've never tasted a wine from Burgundy like that, also being a sommelier myself. We did get sent out dessert, but it still threw the night off. We went on a Saturday at 6pm and it was empty- felt like we had the whole place to ourselves which was nice, but it picked up a little later in the night. There is valet since street parking is difficult for dinner time. The service was great! The food is a little pricey but very good quality. We ordered a few apps and a pasta which was delicious ! We were refused service on New Year's Day. My boyfriend and I had been at Bar 1200 ordered one drink each, and chatted to the bar tender. It was early so it was not very busy, and we decided to wander over to Cavatina to see if it was more lively and also just stroll the property a bit. We told the flabbergasted host that we just wanted to meander in and maybe order a second drink at the bar. We did not do anything rude or disruptive, and he looked at me and treated me like I was totally insane. He then apparently told the bar tender we were to be refused service but that we could 'still stay.' I complained and discussed it with him. It was insulting, and unreasonable. We were not causing a scene, I was wearing a black Alexander Wang dress, it's not like we were inappropriate dressed or anything. It seemed very unreasonable considering we were going to have one more drink and leave. We did leave, of course. If we were yelling or dressed very strange or doing anything else insanely disruptive - fair enough - but we were just having a drink. Having been to Bar 1200 over the years many times and once hosted a birthday dinner at Cavatina - I've seen people in Bar 1200 out of their mind on drugs and not asked to leave. It's almost notorious for this. We don't do drugs, for the record, that has nothing to do with the appeal of going to the Sunset Marquis for us, and were having a pleasant drink at the spot where we had our very first date many years ago. I've even recorded downstairs in Nightbird Studios! What the hell. I felt extremely insulted and also misaligned. We were pretty innocent and not causing a scene and were not even that inebbriated. It was very unreasonable and not appropriate. I think the manager is delusional and I will not be back to his establishment. I literally think he is unhinged and incapable of sizing up his guest's behavior or intentions. Get a life. Maybe you are miserable working on New Year's Day. It's hidden away on the hotel's grounds in a way that made it feel quite exclusive. We felt like Lucy and Ethel at the Brown Derby on "I Love Lucy". Except there was no throwing pies at Bill Holden or any of the rock music superstars who supposedly stay here. The best we could do was get seated next to a portrait of Aretha Franklin. The menu was full of temptations kinda on the ka-ching side. We started with the $26 Sunset Spread, a California-style mezze platter with three dipping sauces, crudité, olives, and grilled pita wedges. First of all, I want to point out that my friend drove all the way here from the OC to meet me for dinner and when she showed up they said their restaurant was closed due to a buyout holiday party, but they still were SO kind to seat her in their outside area away from the party and took us in! Didn't try much, but fresh and fruits were decent, luxury atmosphere with open space and pretty good and professional staff. This is an absolute gem in West Hollywood. The restaurant is nestled within the Sunset Marquis Hotel in a green garden like atmosphere with a little waterfall and koi pond. The service could not have been better. Super attentive and friendly. The food was amazing. Their housemade chips are huge and have spices on them and a lovely dipping sauce. I had a special which was gnocchi with duck and it was so delicious. The property has photos of guests who have stayed there in the past, so many musicians and actors. I came for brunch with my sister in law at around 11am and I believe they had just stopped serving brunch but we nicely asked if we could still order some brunch and they allowed us to which was really nice of them! I got the rice bowl which came with bacon and two poached eggs and we shared the pancakes. Such a beautiful relaxing space surrounded by trees. My favourite restaurant in LA was AVRA for birthdays and after I tried this place - this is now my favourite place. I went to a party at Cavatina last month to celebrate a visiting author after a reading at Book Soup. I don't know how the place is as a regular bar/restaurant, but the lounge was a really nice venue for a private event. I'd guess there were about 30 people in attendance, and we filled the space well, though I think it could've accommodated a group double our size. It felt relaxing and luxurious, especially for a bunch of book people. There was an open bar and a huge spread of snacks, which I assume were provided by Cavatina. I tried both of the signature drinks, which were made in tribute to the author's new book. One was made with Barbancourt rum, banana, bell pepper, and Ancho Reyes, the other with Barbancourt rum, lime juice, hibiscus syrup, and pistachio. Both were good, but the second was especially delicious, and I wonder if some version of it has a more permanent home on the menu. I also enjoyed a negroni. Cavatina is the hotel restaurant for the Sunset Marquis, and I'm sure it's a great option if you're a guest or otherwise looking for a place to eat on the Sunset Strip. I live in town and the Strip is inconvenient, so I don't know that I'll make it back for a meal, but I'd be happy to go for post-Book Soup drinks, doubly so if someone else is paying. read more

Cavatina is the restaurant at the Sunset Marquis. It was wonderful. There are options to dine in or out at both the bar and the restaurant. The outdoor setting is magical. You'll walk over a small footbridge with plenty of koi swimming underneath it. We've been here a few times now and I have to say it's always been a pleasant experience. We were there yesterday with my kids and the service was so great. We noticed they have a new design which is a great compliment to the hotel grounds. Great views of the water falls and landscaping. Atmosphere: overall it was so nice! New chairs were very comfortable and the interior lounge seating with the fireplace and TV's made it very welcoming: Food: food was great. They have one of the best burgers here. The kids had the chicken tenders with fries and we had the burger and fries along with the seasonal fruit salad and poke appetizer. Cocktails were also very yummy. How people do not know about the warm salted gooey chocolate chip cookies that can be delivered to your room! Like why is every review not about these cookies. Cavatina lay out opens to the outdoors lush garden setting with seating areas beneath trees in the garden and definitely COVID compliant. This is one of the places I love for a private rendezvous or have a private meeting. I've been coming to this restaurant for over five years and am shocked to see I had not posted a review. Since my first visit here, where I met my friend JG, who resides here at the Sunset Marquis, along with his many other homes, but he prefers Sunset Marquis and almost always dines here at Cavatina. The menu offering is eclectic Mediterranean, leaning towards healthy with lots of options for vegans. The atmosphere is very tranquil, in the outdoor setting. My friend ordered a few items for us to share, along with a bottle of wine from Spain. All was fresh, delicious and perfect post spa late graze. My friend is a notable celebrity and often times I spot other celebrities/rock stars here. But when in West Hollywood and or Beverly Hills, celebrity sightings are a common occurrence. We all respect each other space. Service was excellent. Valet parking only. Great food, a nice wine and fantastic company at this very cool place, was all perfect. Recommend. read more

Great quaint bar/lounge nested in WeHo. Not so fond of their uncool bartender who seems to despise his job and customers.

Shhhhhh! Don't mess up a good thing by telling everyone . Still my favorite hidden gem. Food, atmosphere, and service is always top tier.
