This is a very quiet roof terrace bar near LACMA at top of Kimpton hotel. A great place to have a drink after visiting the museums (LACMA, Petersen's Automotive, the Academy Museum or La Brea Tar Pits) or have a quiet business meeting. Nice view of LA and sunset. A variety of cocktails on menu (limited wine list) and interesting appetizers and fare. The crunchy fingerling potatoes with aioli were delicious. So was the burrata with artichokes. The roasted cauliflower we ordered was actually romanesco (a cross between a broccoli and cauliflower) but was a bit undercooked. Chocolate pot de crème was excellent. What really made the place special was the service - our two waiters, Chris and Levi were so accommodating, and understanding of dietary restrictions, and affable and helpful. 5 stars for their service and their friendly disposition. read more

Came here to sit at the pool via Resortpass (a total dud since the sun wasn't being nice - not Videre's fault) Arrived here around 2pm on a Sunday and sat at one of the lounge chairs near the pool. The staff here are super sweet and helpful! So many points for customer service. I had a few mocktails from their low and no alcohol section. Totally great! I love when places have options for those who don't drink (or in my case, didn't feel like it that day). For food, I got the modern caesar + the cinnamon roll. I'm a huge fan of a nice salad and this one was super tasty! The dressing was perfect and who doesn't love a nice crispy crouton and a giant pile of parmesan? Nice little lunch at Videre. It's convenient having a restaurant on site at your hotel, but we were hoping for higher quality restaurant food. The fish tacos were good but very greasy and if they had mango salsa, it was charred (but good - just not what I expected). My husband's top sirloin steak was sliced and just ok - again, not what was expected. My lemon drop was pretty tart; the ice cream (salted carmel chip) was so yummy and our favorite part of dinner. However, the view and ambiance are amazing, and it's dog-friendly, so that helped make our evening very enjoyable. read more

Atop the Kimpton on Wilshire is a jewel Videre is phenomenal rooftop and understated experience with a great wow factor. It overlooks to the north the entire city and its an oasis of peace in the skies. Avery was our server and was kind and always attentive to our leisurely brunch needs. Had this on my list of places to try, and happened to be in the area, so made a quick reservation for brunch and headed over. Located on the roof of the Kimpton hotel Wilshire, Videre has views of Beverly Hills from tables and couches. We got to the top and wasn't sure it was open as there wasn't anyone anywhere. Found a couple people doing some prep work and they said sure wherever we wanted. So we say where we could have a nice view of everything. Started with cocktails, the Spring Fling and a Mai Tai. The Fling was tasty, citrus forward but still believed. The Mai Tai also pretty good, no complaints. For food, we first had the seared prawns, which were very good, paired with a almond hummus and mint pesto. Never thought about pairing pesto with prawns but it worked. For entrees, we wanted the crab benedict but it was not available, unfortunately, so we did a staff and eggs and the miracle mile burger. The steak was ok, in a chimichurri sauce, cooked medium. Morning I would remember in the future. The other, in the other hand, was a double smash patty on japanese milk bun, caramelized onions, cheddar and datil pepper aioli. Onions could have been a little more caramelized but it was pretty tasty either way. Videre may not have hit on everything, but the burger and prawns were delightful, and the drinks were worth it. Stopped by here hoping for dinner after a local show was over. It's a beautiful rooftop bar with a very small and limited menu. For being a Saturday night in LA we expected it to be busier (we live in OC) but it was really quiet. We got there at 8:40pm and immediately they told us we have 5 minutes to place the order because kitchen is closing right after. We're like Wow, like give us a minute but I guess they're not used to staying open a minute past. We ordered the scallops skewers and prawn skewer, a miso Cesar Salad (no croutons, just lettuce) along with half a chicken plate. For the price of those skewers we didn't anticipate still being hungry. Of course kitchen was closed now and we couldn't order more. Since we were enjoying the conversation it must've been closing time because our waitress came over and said they're closed now... in other words you don't have to go home but you can't stay here. So we hastily said our goodbye's downstairs with our friends and since we were still hungry we made our way to a local ihops by our house that was open late. 2.5 Much like a Hollywood blockbuster, my Videre experience had twists and turns -- and the last act made all the difference. I stumbled into Videre early in the am. My former manager wanted to have a working breakfast... which turned into a working lunch... which really was watching him drink for hours on the company dole while he gossiped and we got nothing of record accomplished. Corporate life! We sat by the bar and I availed myself of the namesake breakfast (eggs, pork protein, hash browns, and gf toast) and a cold pressed juice. Everything tasted fine. 11 am rolled around and the bar opened. We moved our 'meeting' to the cabana area to get a better view of the (shallow) pool and the sign view... and to start drinking. I stayed basic with my drink (vodka soda) and food (squash salad). Again, fine. The point of the place was the view. Perfectly acceptable. The next night we made a similar play: cabana from late afternoon until night, noshes, drinks (vodka soda made way for spritzes and old fashioneds), and this is where the 3 turns into a 2. While sitting outside, I noticed something alighting on to my yellow shirt. I was some sort of stringy bug. It grossed me out but I went back to drinking. And then I saw another. And another. Looking down, my shirt was covered with these gross bugs. It took everything within me not to strip on the spot. I fled the cabana, jumped into the elevator, ran to my room, tore off my clothes (wrapping the shirt in a laundry bag and contemplating throwing it away), and took a Silkwood shower. Bugs are a red line. I can't -- and don't -- do them. Having bugs all over me* while in a 'chill' sceney setting... absolutely not. I can't. *Just writing this is making me itch. read more

Dinner at the Videre Rooftop Restaurant and Bar was very disappointing, bland, and overpriced. We had made online reservations through the OpenTable link on their website. This made it easy to arrive, check in, and be seated promptly. A large booth was reserved for our party of two overlooking all of West Hollywood and Hollywood. I had requested the All Day menu on our reservation with plans to order the Videre Fried Chicken Sandwich with Fries. I was messaged an hour before our reservation stating the All Day menu is not offered after 5:00 pm. This is not advertised online, on the menu page of their website, or anywhere on the pdf All Day menu. It seems odd the All Day menu is advertised all over their website but is not offered all day. If we'd have known this, or were notified earlier, we would not have booked a reservation, as the entrees offered at Diner did not include many options for me, as I do not eat seafood or beef. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately in a spacious booth overlooking Los Angeles and even the Hollywood sign. The host placed menus on our tables and asked if we would like some waters while we wait for our server-- casually offering spring, sparkling or tap. Before we had a chance to look at the menu or review their beverage options, we were brought two large glass bottles of Mountain Valley water-- and later discovered we were charged $20 for them. The way this was presented felt misleading, as if it were a courtesy rather than a purchase, especially since the host never came back by our table. This move felt more of a calculated cash grab, than sincere hospitality. I decided to order the Roasted Half Chicken. I wanted just fries, but they were unable to substitute. Instead, I opted for the corn polenta, pickled turnips, and pepita salsa on a completely separate plate not touching my main entree and paid $9 to add fries. Our actual server was very friendly, and I appreciate her understanding in my special food requests. The amount of food that arrived was impressive. I received half a rotisserie chicken and a large bowl of french fries. However, the actual chicken itself was very bland, dry, and unseasoned. The meat was a little tough. The $6 Lemon Pepper Rotisserie chicken from Walmart is much more flavorful, as I am not sure this dish even had salt or pepper added. I tried to flag down a server for table seasonings (salt and pepper), however, once our food was brought out, nobody came by our table to check on us. The fries, on the other hand, tasted very good! Overall, for an entree of $38 + $9 for fries, I felt the food fell a little flat. Ultimately, this rooftop restaurant and bar falls a little short if you are making plans to eat; however, if you are coming merely for the rooftop views, you will be pleased. The skyline of WeHo, clean modern furniture, boho decor accents, and retro pool deck are all pleasing. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. This ended up being our most expensive ticket for the week, ringing up at $133.02 for two-- with no alcohol. They also include a 20% gratuity to your bill, costing us $20.20. Our server was friendly, however, this was a bit of an overreach as once our food was brought out, we were never checked on, brought salt/pepper, or offered refills. It was a fun experience with great views, but the food and costs were lacking. With its stunning views and ambiance, I might recommend that Videre is best for cocktails and small bites at sunset, rather than a full entree for dinner. read more

We came here for Dine LA, but was pretty disappointed. It had rained that day so we were seated inside, but this restaurant really depends on their outdoor seating area. The inside lacked ambiance. We had to request the Dine LA menu. They did not offer and it was not advertised. For our appetizers, I had the seared prawns and my bf had the burrata. Both were good and the burrata was served with really crusty bread. The appetizer gave us high homes for the main. I chose the Maine scallop & trumpet mushroom skewer and my bf had the chicken skewer. The scallop was quartered and I believe there was only one mushroom also just cut up. I thought it was only ok, the sauce did not really complement the skewer and the scallop was too fishy (possibly old?). On the normal menu, this skewer is $28! For ONE skewer and it was not even good! My bf said his chicken skewer was so dry, it was hard to swallow it down. For dessert, I had 2 cookies, which were good but I'm not sure if they were made in-house. My partner had the chocolate pot de crem which he said was fine. Overall, not worth the price. Went back for dinner and let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised. Usually, places that have a nice view don't always have the best food, but boy were we happy we had dinner here. We ordered the crispy potatoes (smashed fingerling potatoes with aioli sauce), the burger with side salad and the saffron pasta (added chicken) - ALL 3 items were absolutely delicious and more than enough to share between two people. The outdoor space is banging and there is a small inside bar area that is also sophisticated and lovely The service is excellent and as the afternoon turns into evening more help shows up. We made an early reservation so when we arrived it seemed the bartender was handling all the things and then some. Staff were accommodating and polite, and helpful when we asked for suggestions. They seem to know the menu very well. So here is the one thing I would mention as a negative; the menus are a bit confusing. There is a pre fixed menu that ends at 3pm. There is a drinks hour menu, which we never did see despite that being the time we arrived? We stayed forever and later asked to see deserts and then found an entire dinner menu. ? ‍ We had a salad with steak added and the chicken sandwich as well as truffle fries. Everything was delicious my friend ordered a chocolate desert with berries that was epic! Not sure what it's called but I'd get it next time I'm back for sure Cocktails were impressive! Since you'd like to mention "important context", here you go: We called the health department and followed up on our reports on Feb 11th, and here are the inspection findings, which are public information - 1) Poultry was stored above other produce in the fridge instead of being below, as it should be. 2) Plates lacked sufficient sanitation spray. 3) Excessive grease had accumulated in parts of the kitchen. 4) Clams lacked labeling. 5) Knife storage was problematic. In addition to the above, our email correspondence ended with you refusing to provide your insurance information after you obtained our medical records. If you have no wrongdoing, why are you afraid of us filing a claim? If it weren't because of my SIBO condition, I may not have gone to check, just like a lot of others, which would have led this to go unreported. So what you want to say might be an isolated report, not an "isolated incident". You don't need to explain how E. Coli works. You think we didn't look into our dining history the week prior with the health department thoroughly together to get an idea of the likelihood of where we could get E. Coli from? Both my husband and I got sick at the same time! You are arguing against common sense now. Even if we took leftovers home and they tested positive for E. Coli, you may still say it was our hands. Even if E. Coli wasn't present at the moment of the inspection, how can you say it wasn't present the day we ate there? And who knows if it's the eatery's handling rather than the kitchen? You denied the possibility of causing our sickness, refused to cover our roughly $100 urgent care bill, saying you "empathize" with my "physical distress" is hypocritical. read more

5 stars for food, drinks, and atmosphere. 3 stars for service. (2 stars for the Day Pass, which I'm not including in the overall rating) I visited Videre on the 4th of July. I purchased the Day Pass on Resort pass so I could enjoy the pool during this hot summer weather while also getting poolside bar service. I got lucky with metered street parking and found a spot right out front; free for the holiday. When I arrived at the front desk, I was greeted by (I'm guessing) back-of-house staff because he didn't give me the typical "hotel spiel" or know much about Resort Pass, but he was nice and gave me easy-to-follow directions to the pool. When I got to the rooftop pool and restaurant, they were probably at a third capacity, but the staff were already disorganized. I had the option of sitting by the pool or taking the last lounger furthest from the bar. The poolside bar service was very slow, and I wasn't the only one they kept forgetting. I had to request a restaurant menu at least three times before receiving the full set. I even had to get out of the pool sopping wet to check on my first drink. After the original server left, a new and better server took over. He was fast and friendly. If he hadn't taken over, I would've given Videre a much lower rating. I ordered most items from their special 4th of July menu, which were all delicious. I appreciated that the server also made sure I knew that the tip was automatically calculated in the check. We Had brunch here and everything was amazing; wonderful view, it was very cozy and nice tables pool side. The service was wonderful as well, Chris was the best as well as the bartender (which we didn't catch her name but she was super sweet too). But Chris had awesome recommendations and was very knowledgeable on food items and was also very caring especially to our pooches. This place is dog friendly, which is a special treat for well behaved dogs like ours. The food was soooo tasty too. I had the fried chicken sandwich which came with a salad and the hashbrowns sounded good so I had to have some as well. I was quite disappointed by Videre's food and service. I came here for the love island reality bar tv night. The ambiance was chill and the people attending were all very friendly. Service was basically non existent. They decided since they were busy, they did not need to provide the same level of service. They put a water station instead of providing water service. Servers never checked on us and we had to flag them down every time we needed something. I was debating between the saffron pasta and the ribeye skewers so I asked the waiter and she said definitely 100% the pasta so i got it and added steak. I was super disappointed. The saffron flavor does not come through, I questioned whether it was even used. The pasta tasted plain and flavorless and I was super disappointed for the expensive price. It was $25 + $9 for the add on steak. The steak was okay and the pasta was a big miss - I'm not sure why the waiter would recommend this. To get the flavor out of my mouth I ordered the truffle fries which again were skimped out on - the truffle flavor does not come through at all so it's basically just a parmesan fries. They were good but no truffle flavor so I'd recommend ordering regular fries to save the money. The menu says that 20% service charge is included. What they mean by that is that they automatically add 20% additional to your bill after providing bad service!! Such a waste. For the two items it came out to $65 - no drinks - not worth it!!! Not sure how a pasta and fries was $65 - but it sucked. The biggest disappointment was that they advertised the Love island finale watch party event but only bought peacock with ads instead of peacock without ads - I could've just watched at home with no ads!! They're making so much money on overpriced food and can't even pay for peacock without ads... upsetting. If you actually care about hearing the show, I wouldn't recommend it since it's really loud and hard to hear the show also says slushies on the special menu but none were available. To be fair, the venue is beautiful and the service was great. What was not great was the food: tiny portions at ridiculous prices. The scallops skewer had 3 smallish scallops, came out barely luke warm, with a few partially cooked mushrooms. The cauliflower entree instead of being a whole cauliflower properly baked with seasonings was maybe a quarter, mostly raw, and looked dirty. Everything was smothered in salad. To add insult to injury, the bill was presented with a 20% gratuity already added. I developed a nasty stomach ache shortly afterward. Went there Saturday night. We were at LACMA and looked for places on Google. Quick walking distance from LACMA. You take an elevator to the 6th floor, get off then take a different elevator to the rooftop. I think this is actually a restaurant associated with a hotel. Place was pretty empty. The view is pretty nice. There's a pool that's lit up and you sit around it. Got the eggplant burrata, fish and the mushroom. The eggplant burrata was good. It had a strong ginger flavor that made it unique. The fish was kinda disappointing. Very bland. No flavor. The mushroom dish was pretty cool. They use a mushroom called the lion's mane. This was my first time having it and they said it's commonly used to make vegan dishes mimic chicken/meat texture. It was a beautiful presentation and interesting mix of sauces. read more
