Food is very decent, I would give a 4.5, I like their baked goods more. Their egg Benedict is ok, not bad for sure. Thick cut bacon is salty, and toast is very fresh. Ambiance is where it shines, very cool looking interior. Service is fine, they get what you ask for. Just beware parking is very hard, and wait time is long so plan ahead. Definitely a go to spot if you visit LA.

While visiting Los Angeles, I had heard about this popular restaurant located in the mid-Wilshire area serving a variety of French inspired dishes and garnering high praises from visitors. I ordered the escargot, dover sole, salmon, prawns, fries and risotto. Although, some dishes were good the majority were disappointing and totally missed the mark. The Salmon was lukewarm and was sent back. The Prawns were without question the biggest disappointment. By far these were the smallest prawns I've ever had anywhere and for the price one would've truly expected more. Overall, the meal was good but not great. The service was poor and lacked structure, creating a chaotic and rushed atmosphere. Throughout my entire dining experience and other than the times of me personally calling over my server, he was inattentive, lacked personality and never made me feel welcomed. Although, it appeared the staff worked as a team it never seemed cohesive and what one might expect from an establishment of this caliber. The restaurant was crowded but I did see several staffers seemingly with little to do, which is why the lack of table service surprised me. Kudos, to the manager who did walk over and apologized for the salmon and provided me with a $50.00 gift card towards a future visit. This was very thoughtful and appreciated.

A good friend and I went out for a celebratory dinner at Republique on Tuesday. Food was amazing, ambiance was great and service was very good! Great vibe all around so let's get into it. Ambiance: From what I understand the building dates back to 1928 and was commissioned by Charlie Chaplin as an office space. ...some office! It's kind of a mixture of French. Gothic meets Spanish colonial with high ceilings, dramatic archways, and really makes for an interesting restaurant atmosphere. One can tell that this was built during the Los Angeles boom. Where real money was spent on the electrical and romantic structures. I kind of felt like I was in a monastery or private Hacienda - very unique and very Los Angeles. Food: overall 5 stars. We decided to cleanse our pallet with a glass of Rene Geoffroy 1er cru, Expression champagne: 5 stars Velvety, fine bubbles. Very good depth to this wine - starts out a little crisp and mineral on the tongue, then turns into a brioche and kind of a dry chalky finish on the palate. My first time trying this champagne and I found it to be delicious and sophisticated; perfect accoutrement to our oysters. We were given an amuse bouche (see photo) and it was the most perfect bite. I don't even know how to begin to describe it so I'll just refrain. East and West Coast Oysters: 5 stars Fishers island and kumamoto with barrel-aged mignonette. Delicious and perfectly shucked. The kumamoto were a little creamy, but not too much and the fisher islands were perfectly briny, good firmness to them. The mignonette had a bit of cracked peppercorns in it and that was quite interesting in a great way. My friend and I decided that we could both make a meal out of these oysters alone. Baguette: 5 stars wow. The best baguette this side of the Atlantic ocean. Served with Rodolphe Le Meunier butter, this was a real treat. This baguette and butter will set you back $15 but it is worth every cent. I highly encourage everyone to order this and the waiters and other patrons will tell you the same. I'm so glad we did this. Japanese Hamachi Crudo: 5 stars Tender Hamachi served with a strawberry Thai basil nuoc cham... very unique and delicious dish. I would order again. I'm typically not the kind of person to mix sweet berries with savory food, but this was the perfect balance of texture flavors, sweet and heat. Caramelized Walla Walla Sweet onion tart: 5 stars This is a very interesting tart served with chunks of Applewood, smoked bacon and aged Gruyere. This eats more like a very thin crust pizza wonderful texture, crispy thin crust with sweet onion, jam, melted Greer cheese, and crispy yet chewy chunks of applewood smoked bacon. Great flavors great texture (see photo). Frederic Esmonin 2023 Pinot Noir: 5 stars I remember notes of black cherry red currants, more of an earthy and heavier wine compared to the lighter pinot noirs I've had before. Napa Valley Lamb Rack: 4 stars (5 star lamb, 3 star polenta). Mixed feelings about this one. Lamb was cooked perfectly. Great on-the-bone flavor and I could have licked the lamb jus off my plate. The dish also had roasted baby artichokes which were good, but the issue we had was the polenta. I've had polenta before, and I don't remember it being so sweet. The polenta does come with mushroom and merguez sausage to help bring some depth and savoriness to the dish but it needed more help. We did not finish this side, and we were disappointed but it's not the end of the world. Opera Cake: 5 stars There are times where I wish I can make something so delicious that people will talk about it for days after they eat it. The opera cake is a solid 5 stars I dessert choice. My friend and I are not big chocolate people, but our waiter highly encouraged us to give this a try, and since we were having a celebratory dinner, we decided that a cake was in order. The texture on this cake was amazing. Smooth ganache with light sponge cake, crispy layer of roasted hazelnut. Just the right amount of richness and decadence. I'm glad we went out of our comfort zone and ordered the opera cake. I highly recommend this dessert. Service: 5 stars. Jared was a waiter and he was attentive, possessed a good knowledge of the menu items and was able to offer helpful insight on the menu items. There is a whole team working to buss dishes, replace silverware and ensure water glasses are always topped off. I should also mention a man by the name of (I think) Quang; appeared to be either manager or a type of lead staff member. Very attentive and has a very keen eye to detail. I thank him for bringing me my second glass of wine when my first ran empty, and ensuring that my friend and I had everything we needed throughout the night. I look forward to coming back to Republique.

Hey, let me get this out of the way: Valet parking- $14, employees personnel fee: 4% onto your bill. The tip starts at 20-% at the register unless you change it. I felt like I was handing out money for everything other than the food... Wifey had Quiche and a Rosè. She didn't like it, but ate it anyway. I had the Burger, which came with crispy fries that were really tasty!the Burger was cooked well and was amazingly good. The service was great and the environment was very busy and the movement was fast. Would I return? Sure, but just make sure you have at least $100. ‍

Came here around 11 am on a Saturday and there was a line. We waited about 15-20 minutes to get to the cashier to order. You order first and then find a table to sit at. We ordered the Filipino adobo fried rice, potato pancake, mango calamansi pie, a creme brulee pastry and another blueberry croissant pastry. Everything was delicious! Our favorite was the potato pancake, which came with pieces of salmon lox and eggs on top. The potato pancake was crispy and had a pancake texture and it was so interesting. The flavors all blended well together. Would highly recommend ordering! The Filipino adobo fried rice was also delicious and very flavorful. It had a kick to it even without adding the sriracha! Out of all the pastries, our favorite was the mango calamansi pie. They had just brought out a new whole pie as we were ordering so we had to order a slice. It wasn't too sweet and the cream wasn't too heavy either. Would definitely order again! The other pastries were also not too sweet and were tasty. Service was excellent! We received our food fairly quickly considering how packed it was. The restaurant has a lot of seating but République is pretty popular so it gets packed. There is street meter parking out in front. Would recommend!

Umm... can I live here?? We stopped by for brunch and left completely impressed. First things first ,the ambiance is stellar: airy, bright, and absolutely beautiful. I was smitten at first glance. And then came the bakery display, which honestly took my breath away. Once I managed to tear myself away from the space itself, I was blown away by the variety and the intricate detailing--things I'd only ever seen on shows like The Great British Bake Off. We ordered brunch along with a few pastries and beverages, and since it was Thanksgiving weekend, we also took home a pecan pie. It turned out to be a huge hit with our friends and was gone in a single sitting. Pricing is definitely on the higher side, but the quality and overall experience make it worthwhile. Highly recommended.

We had a very lovely evening. The restaurant is stunning. The Hostess was very kind, warm greeting and enjoyable to chat with while we waited for our table. Our waiter was excellent. The drinks were good. Our favorite thing was the baguette, which was incredible. And the taster of potato leek soup that came out with it. That pairing alone we could've eaten for dinner. It was followed by the beef fat fries and the half roast chicken. The mains were very good, but again could have had that baguette and soup for dinner! The one Complaint I have as is the prices are pretty high and when you balance the experience with the cost, I'd probably give it four stars. $72 for a quality 1/2 roast chicken. When the cost goes up that much, your expectation goes up with it.

A very popular brunch spot in Los Angeles is Republique. I have been here a few times and have to say they are always busy with tourists, workers, and overall just wanting some good food. You have to order first and then get a number to put down on your table. The avocado toast is delicious!!! If you love avocados this one is gigantic and I literally couldn't finish it. For dessert, we also ordered a cheesecake and had a taste of this creamy delicious cheesecake. It is one of the best! They have long tables or small chairs and tables as well. So you can come with a large group or even a small one just enjoy the inside of this spot. It is quite pretty.

this spot has been on my list of places to try for a while and i finally had to chance to try it! the line seemed pretty long but it went by really quickly, i think we waited around 15-20 minutes. you order first and then it's open seating. i ordered the: potato pancake kimchi fried rice caramel banana pudding bread with vanilla cream short rib burrito my favorite was the potato pancake, i loved how crispy the pancake part was and it paired so well with all the toppings, very creative and unique dish. i also really liked the banana pudding bread, it was crispy and soft and had a really great banana flavor which went well with the vanilla cream on top. the burrito and kimchi fried rice were just okay, the meat was rlly tender for the fried rice but the dish itself doesn't rlly taste like kimchi fried rice. overall loved the vibes and ambiance of the interior and i would come back for the potato pancake and to try other desserts

Long overdue, but this spot absolutely deserves a shoutout. We came here for Valentine's Day and ended up having one of those meals you keep talking about long after, it was that good. Every one of the six courses hit, and we couldn't resist ordering a few rounds of cocktails to keep the celebration going. Standouts for me were the kanpachi crudo and the cauliflower agnolotti (Maine lobster with winter black truffle), both beautifully plated and packed with flavor. You can tell a lot of thought went into each dish. Service was polished and accommodating, and the ambiance was beautiful, perfect for a special night out. The pacing felt a bit quick at times; a little more breathing room between courses (and cocktails) would've made the experience even better. Definitely book ahead, this place is always buzzing and has definitely earned its spot as one of LA's go-to dining destination.

Good food but with a casual atmosphere. The space was a little tight and saw a few families with strollers struggling a bit. The line was out the door when I arrived but it went by fairly quickly, and staff were pretty efficient with clearing tables and what not. You order and pay with the cashier then hope you can snag a table! We were able to get one fairly quickly though :) They have solid coffees and pastries so I can see myself going back for that vs a full meal. The breakfast was delicious and all the toasts they brought out looked so appetizing. Food!! I shared the Pork Adobo Fried Rice which was delicious and the pork was so tender, and the blueberry pancake. If you're a pancake fan, get this! Its big, light, and fluffy. Im not much of a pancake person so I think I would've preferred the waffle or a toast bc they come with more toppings. All the pastries we tried were delicious! Half dozen oysters - République - February 2026

Alright so Republique had been on my Los Angeles dining bucket list for quite some time and I'm pleased to report I finally made it there this past Friday evening for dinner. It was my first visit and I'd say that overall, it met expectations. We had reservations right when dinner service began at 5:30pm which was great for me as I don't stay out too late, hehe. Despite that being the only reservation available, the restaurant did not actually fill up too quickly. Either way, arriving early allowed us to settle in nonetheless. Parking is pretty much valet only ($17) which I suppose is typical for this part of LA. So anyway, if you've never been to Republique before, the atmosphere alone is worth a visit. The dining room feels almost Harry Potter-esque/cathedral-like with its soaring glass ceiling and tall brick walls. It feels pretty special and unique. On this particular Friday evening, our strategy was simple: order a lot and share everything. The wait staff/menu encourages this approach and we were told that 5-7 dishes is a good number, which is about what we ordered. A few standouts from the meal included the Kumamoto oysters which were fantastic. They were incredibly fresh and I loved the mignonette sauce. The bread with pan drippings was deceptively delicious and quite unforgettable. I could have happily kept dipping bread into the savory goodness of the pan drippings all night. Even the butter was delicious! The agnolotti pasta was another highlight. Perfectly cooked without feeling heavy. For mains, I really enjoyed the striploin steak which was cooked beautifully and full of flavor. We also ordered the lamb rack which was just as impressive and plated beautifully if I do say so myself! The hamachi crudo was probably the only dish that I didn't love which is too bad because it was one I really wanted to try. It wasn't bad by any means but just a bit unexpected in flavor and not my personal favorite of the evening. Service was solid overall. Our server (Jared, according to the receipt) kept things moving smoothly, though he didn't introduce himself by name and the interactions felt a little odd, especially considering the restaurant of this caliber. And, one thing I didn't notice until reviewing the receipt later was the 4% service charge added for employee health and medical benefits. I completely support restaurants taking care of their staff, but I do wish this had been mentioned more clearly during the dining experience. It's noted on the receipt, but I'm not sure it was noted on the menu. A meal here is definitely a splurge but sometimes you just have to treat yo'self. The food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience were five stars. Next time, I'd love to return for breakfast or brunch. For now, Republique delivered a memorable first visit and I'm already looking forward to next time!

Republique Review THE FOOD: Republique absolutely delivers where it matters most--the food. The standout was the kimchi pastry, which was both inventive and genuinely delicious, not just creative for the sake of it. The quiche was authentic & divine. The viral potato pancake absolutely lived up to the hype, satisfying, and worth ordering. The kimchi fried rice was solid but didn't quite hit the same level as the others; it could definitely benefit from more meat to round it out. On the other hand, my husband couldn't stop talking about the croque madame, which was clearly a hit. THE SERVICE: This is a pay-and-seat-yourself setup, so don't expect traditional table service. That said, the system runs smoothly and efficiently. It's more casual and self-directed, but it fits the overall experience and keeps things moving without feeling chaotic. THE VIBE: Republique has a lively, bustling energy that makes it feel like a true destination spot. It's busy, a bit loud, and very much part of the charm. The atmosphere leans more toward upscale casual than fine dining, perfect for a relaxed but still elevated meal.

Would definitely come back next time were in the area.

Champignon: Hazelnut crunch at the bottom with hazelnut creme. The mushroom cap had a small layer of sponge cake and hazelnut creme on top. Lychee rose: Very light on lychee flavor, there's a combination of lychee and a light rose scent. It's layered with sponge cake, 2 layers of jelly. Sweetness similar to Asian cake.

We tried the nikuman and curryman, and both were outstanding! The nikuman had a meat (chicken?) and veggie filling that was crunchy and slightly sweet and salty, while the curryman had a traditional Japanese curry filling that was tasty with the perfect amount of spices. They perfectly warmed both body and soul on a chilly LA morning. If I lived nearby, I'd eat these every day! We also tried the yuzu cream pan, which was also pretty epic. The topping was a little crunchy, complementing the soft bread and creamy and smooth tart filling. This is definitely my new favorite Japanese bakery in the US! There were so many options, and everything in the display case looked fresh and tempting. The pastries I tried were really delicious -- soft, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The vibe inside was cozy and relaxed, which made it easy to slow down for a bit and enjoy everything. It's definitely the kind of place I'd come back to whenever I want good pastries and coffee without going somewhere overly trendy or complicated.

They're also very on-trend, whenever a Korean dessert goes viral, they usually have it here. Recently, they even started selling butter tteok, and I heard it was one of the first places to have it in K-town. I highly recommend the salted bread. Honestly, I think it's even better than the famous spot everyone talks about. My favorite is the corn cheese, it's especially delicious when it's warm. I also tried the Korean chamoe (melon) smoothie, and it was very refreshing. It tasted like they used real melon, since there was a slight natural tanginess that made it even better. There is free parking, though the lot is a bit small. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating, but the seating area is somewhat limited too

I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. My total was $15.25 and I paid cash, but I was given $4.75 in change. When I said it should be $5, she seemed confused and asked what I meant. I told her I literally gave you a quarter right now, and she questioned it before eventually giving me the correct change. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a mistake. I understand times are hard, but charging more for products that clearly had corners cut doesn't sit right with me. It just comes across like there's no integrity. Clearly the quality and portions are going downhill. I wasn't even planning on writing this review. I was going to stay quiet, but the chocopie really ticked me off. I'm not going to pay for food that skims on ingredients and shortchanges customers by charging more for less, so this will be my last visit.

And I know that vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting is pretty easy to make, but sometimes I'd rather just buy baked goods than make them for myself, especially when I'm driving past what I thought was a popular (and presumably good) bake shop. I expected a high-quality cupcake. The cupcakes looked cute, but they were as dry as the Sahara. They should have been labeled as white cupcakes as I didn't detect any vanilla in them. I suspect that the "buttercream" was made with milk and margarine and powdered sugar.....so much powdered sugar. It was sickeningly sweet, and it was dry too. And a true bettercream doesn't even use powdered sugar. So not only were the cupcakes terrible, they were not even what they purported to be. This is like calling a cut of meat a filet mignon and serving a hamburger. Von's, Ralphs and Albertson's make better cupcakes than this for a fraction of othe price.
